ACFC is a Qualified Charitable Organization (QCO Code: 20873)
The mission of the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children is to provide social, emotional, and financial support to families managing the health and well-being of their child diagnosed with cancer.
Hearing the words “your child has cancer” is terrifying. In an instant, your entire world is turned upside down. It is not only financially devastating but emotionally and socially devastating as well. The Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children strives to provide individualized support for the entire family. They want families to know that they are not alone in their journey.
In their 12,000-square-foot facility, the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children provides a safe place where kids with cancer can be kids. Since its inception, ACFC has served over 10,000 individuals affected by pediatric cancer statewide who otherwise would likely be isolated and alone. Empathetic and caring, ACFC provides financial assistance directly to families in need to assist with medical bills, the cost of living, and sadly, end-of-life expenses. Their family pantry distributes food and household essentials to those facing food scarcity and economic instability. Individual and family counseling, K9 therapy, family social events, toys for children, and a large facility that includes an art studio, imagination play area, paint splatter room, theater, meditation room, and more allow children with cancer and their siblings to experience childhood.
“I wanted to send a quick thank you and let you know how much your event meant to our little family. Seeing Ryan participate in fun events like this and get out of the house was really great. It was also wonderful for Big Sister to feel a little bit normal and have all four of us out together, which has been hard since Ryan’s diagnosis. I know these simple words get thrown around a lot, but I hope you know and understand how much they mean to us: Thank you!” Mom of cancer warrior Ryan.

Since founding the Armer Foundation for Kids in 2019, Jennifer Armer has raised nearly $1 million to support a total of 20 Arizona-based families whose children were facing life-threatening illnesses.
Inspired by her friend who was facing similar conditions and needed financial assistance, Jennifer (a former marketing/advertising pro and co-owner of Armer Air) and her husband Matt made it their personal mission to help others, like her friend, who needed help in order to focus on the health and well-being of their children.
The foundation currently has 10 “Armer Kids” they are fundraising for through a variety of events, blood drives, and other initiatives that take place throughout the year. The funds raised go directly to help cover co-pays, premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, and much more.

Creighton School District serves over 5,000 low-income households every year, and Creighton Community Foundation works in partnership to make every place a kid lives a brighter, more vibrant place filled with hope. In neighborhoods where median household incomes hover around the federal poverty line, the rapidly rising cost of living has created a perfect storm of hardship. The depth of this need is stark: 85% of families seeking food assistance report household incomes below $23,000.
When families struggle, food is often the first necessity sacrificed to keep the lights on or maintain a roof overhead. Yet this desperate trade-off triggers a cascade of challenges: hungry kids struggle to learn, parents miss work due to health issues, and the whole family’s future dims. That’s why their Feeding Phoenix program has become the cornerstone of family stability since 2013 - catching families before they fall into crisis and helping them rebuild security. With the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit, you can join this vital mission at no cost to you.
Our impact? Direct, immediate, and life changing. They’re not just feeding 6,500 families annually –they are preventing diabetes, keeping families in their homes, and ensuring kids can focus on their dreams instead of their empty stomachs. During the holidays alone, CCF provides 1,000 additional families with turkey dinners and holiday meals, creating moments of joy when they’re needed most.
“I have a huge family, and my kids eat a lot. With the food we receive, we come together, preparing meals and sharing moments that remind us of the strength found in community support,” shares one mother the foundation serves. These aren’t just meals - they’re building blocks for stronger families and brighter futures.
What makes your gift even more powerful? Through the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit, every dollar you donate comes back to you on your state taxes. Your generosity costs you nothing but changes everything for a family in need. This holiday season and New Year, transform lives while securing your tax credit. Join the Creighton Community Foundation in building a hunger-free Phoenix - where every family has the foundation they need to thrive, not just survive.

Detour Company Theatre puts up plays and musicals that star adults with disabilities. They produce authentic and subversive theatrical productions with and for adults with disabilities including (but not limited to) Deaf actors, blind actors, Autistic actors (actors on the autism spectrum), actors with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and those with physical disabilities. Detour is an inclusive organization, meaning they include adults with disabilities at every level of their company from performers to teachers to support staff to board members.
Performances at Detour are as much of a service to the audience who sees them as they are to the folks performing on stage. A professional actor who was in the audience for a recent Detour production, Footloose: The Musical, had this to say about his experience, “This was a gift,” he said, “I hope you know that. Theatre like this--it’s a gift to weary artists.”
Detour audiences—composed of both disabled and non-disabled people—see themselves in the performances happening on stage. Detour shows are not a lecture or a challenge. They are an invitation to see ourselves as part of a diverse community.
On average, producing an accessible and inclusive theatre costs 40% more than producing a typical show. Your donation helps Detour pay for adaptive sets and props, additional rehearsals, and accessibility professionals like ASL interpreters, live captioners, and audio describers for the blind. Donate today to help support theatre that includes everyone and shows adults with disabilities for the dedicated and valuable members of society that they are.
Don’t miss their upcoming production of Bye Bye Birdie at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on January 10-12. Tickets are available through the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts box office by calling 480-499-8587 (open Wednesday – Saturday: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sunday: Noon – 5 p.m.).
ASL interpreting with reserved seats for Deaf audience members, audio description via headset, and live captions above the stage are included at every performance!

The youth served by Elevate Phoenix ache for someone to care about them. They experience daily chronic stressors, including unsafe neighborhoods and poverty; many come from single-parent households; and others have a parent who uses drugs or is incarcerated. Many struggle to learn in school due to being advanced before they were ready and the ripple effects of the pandemic-related school shutdowns. Before being referred to Elevate Phoenix by their principals and counselors, many were on the brink of giving up and dropping out.
Founded in 2009, Elevate Phoenix’s mission is to deliver long-term, life-changing relationships with urban youth. Its innovative relationship-based approach with youth who feel beaten down by life is unique; no other agency in Arizona uses teacher-mentors who invest in their lives, teach accredited curriculum in the classroom, tutor them during lunch and after school, and remain available 24/7/365 to help with anything causing distress. Teacher-mentors are young adults, most from the same neighborhoods as the youth, and understand their challenges. As they begin interacting with Elevate Phoenix’s teacher-mentors and staff, who embrace them and are committed to their success, they want to stay in school.
Elevate Phoenix conducts accredited literacy, life skills, and workforce preparedness programs with 4,500 youth in grades 2–12 at eight Title I schools in east, south, and west Phoenix. Its socialemotional learning and trauma-informed strategies help these students learn. Each year, nearly 100% of the youth pass their courses and successfully advance to the next grade. More than 98% of seniors graduate, compared to the state average of 78%; 100% graduate with a post-secondary plan in place (i.e., college, certification, the military, etc.); and more than 90% advance to college.
Today, many youths who believed their college and career dreams were unattainable a few years ago are now employed in rewarding and well-paying careers. Your donation will be a positive investment in the lives of thousands of youths, so they can break the cycle of poverty and have a successful future.

Families Raising Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing critical financial assistance to cancer patients and their families, helping them cope with the overwhelming costs that come with cancer treatment. Their mission is to relieve families of the financial burdens posed by medical care, so they can focus on the most important thing—healing and recovery.
The financial toll of cancer treatment can be staggering. Patients and their loved ones often face not only high medical bills but also additional expenses like frequent doctor visits, medication, specialized therapies, hospital stays, and travel for treatments. These costs, combined with the loss of income due to missed workdays, can make it nearly impossible for families to keep up with everyday living expenses, including rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, groceries, gas, and transportation.
Families Raising Hope (FRH) understands these challenges intimately. Founded by individuals who have experienced the journey of cancer firsthand, they are deeply committed to helping Arizona cancer patients of all ages, providing much-needed financial relief during one of the most difficult times in their lives. By focusing on essential living expenses, FRH enables families to prioritize their health and well-being rather than worry about how they’ll pay their bills.
What sets FRH apart is that they are a 100% volunteer-based organization. Every donation received goes directly toward helping cancer patients. These volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that no patient has to face the financial burden of cancer treatment alone. Your support, whether through a one-time gift or ongoing contributions, helps families afford basic living costs while navigating treatment.
As an Arizona Charitable Tax Credit organization, Families Raising Hope also offers you a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life while receiving a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your state taxes. Donations go a long way in helping families facing the immense challenges of cancer treatment.

Since 1988, Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center has been dedicated to ending food insecurity and fostering self-sufficiency in the north valley.
Last year, they were proud to give a hand up to thousands of neighbors in need and collected/ delivered nearly two million pounds of food. Their weekly Senior Market Day saw 2,225 market visits last year, an increase of 23 percent over the year prior. This has become a vital resource for seasoned community members in need who struggle to make ends meet.
Their outreach extends beyond traditional food bank methods and includes mobile food pantries and micro-pantries. Strategically serving communities in need, their mobile food pantries bring the food bank directly to those who can’t easily access it. Meanwhile, micro-pantries in schools and school libraries ensure that students have access to meals during weekends and school breaks.
In addition to providing food assistance, the Foothills Food Bank offers support with government program applications, organizes educational seminars, provides mental health referrals, offers career services, and connects individuals with a range of additional resources.
They have been able to accomplish these remarkable initiatives with the support of their community and the 324 volunteers who generously contributed over 40,000 hours of their time. Thanks to these volunteers, Foothills Food Bank is able to use 93 cents of every dollar received to provide programs and services.
A pillar in the Phoenix community for over 30 years, Fresh Start transforms lives by providing access and resources that empower women to achieve self sufficiency and use their strength to thrive. The organization’s strategic approach to this mission is called the Impact Program whichencompasses five key areas of service: Family Stability, Health and Well-being, Financial Management, Education and Training, and Careers. These pillars of support form the Bridge to Self-Sufficiency, a comprehensive pathway to economic independence and personal empowerment.
Fresh Start’s vision is to create a future of unlimited opportunities for women. Through access to their in-person, on-demand, and virtual resources, thousands of Arizona women aged 18 and older continue to change their lives and the lives of their families every year. Of the women served, 62% are single mothers, 67% earn an annual income under $25k, 66% are women of color, and 68% are domestic violence survivors.
With the support of donors and community partners, Fresh Start can help empower more women from all backgrounds across the state of Arizona. This includes providing access to workforce training opportunities, family law support, personalized coaching, and more services that meet women where they are and help them move forward on the path to economic self- sufficiency. Over its history, Fresh Start has supported over 60,000 women, and the organization continues to strategize new, innovative ways to meet the needs of women in the Arizona community through the model of the Impact Program.
When women are given the right resources, education, and support, their success transforms their communities for generations to come. To contribute to this life-changing mission, tax credit donations are an easy and effective way to support Fresh Start. Learn more about this important work and how to donate at FreshStartWomen.org.

Gesher was founded in 1985 to meet the special needs of children and adults with disabilities who were unable to participate in typical activities of Jewish life in greater Phoenix. The original programs were for special education assistance and summer camp inclusion. These were followed by support groups for parents, grandparents and siblings, an active disability awareness outreach program, information and referral services, and sign language interpreters in Jewish settings. Over the years, the agency added social groups and continuing Jewish studies for teens and adults with moderate to severe disabilities, educational forums on disability related topics and two supervised Jewish homes for adults with disabilities. A monthly “no shush” service called Simchat Shabbat was added to the program list and won the Belle Latchman Community Service Award in 2008.
In 2015, Gesher was accepted as a QCO for the State of Arizona’s tax credit program. In 2017, they changed their name to Gesher Disability Resources to more accurately reflect who they are today. Gesher is the Hebrew word for “bridge”, and while their roots are culturally Jewish, all are welcome at their events to participate, learn, and have fun.
Gesher members love being out in the community participating in activities like bowling, swimming, and visiting the zoo, all of which become affordable thanks to tax credit dollars. The agency’s education team provides direct services to over 120 students who have learning challenges each school year and tax credit dollars subsidize the fees. Safe, affordable housing continues to be a need in our community and tax credit dollars are helping to expand Gesher’s residential program that provides homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Combating the nearly 80% unemployment rate in the disability community happens when organizations hire a professional speaker who lives with a disability through Damon Brooks & Associates, a subsidiary of Gesher Disability Resources. Serving the disability community is their passion and through programs and services led by Gesher professionals, they impact over 4,000 individuals throughout Arizona each year. Their vision is to create bridges to bring all communities together – please join them!

What started in the 1920s as a charitable outpost in the deserts north of Phoenix, the roots of Desert Mission were planted. To ease the suffering of the sick and poor, volunteers brought food and medicine. This community of service and caring grew, eventually adding a school, library, chapel and hospital, which would become HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center.
This legacy of caring at HonorHealth Desert Mission was designed to improve health and well-being and embrace the power of resiliency.
For more than 95 years now, Desert Mission has served the most vulnerable members of our community.
With the help of a generous community, today’s Desert Mission offers three major programs: Food Bank – The link between hunger and poor health is undeniable. Families visit the food bank and talk with an intake staff member. Based on individual needs, a healthy food box is prepared for take-home the same day. Desert Mission provides more than 20,000 emergency food boxes annually.
Lincoln Learning Center – This accredited early childhood learning center provides a solid foundation with 98 percent of students rated as ready for kindergarten success!
Adult Day Health Care – Older adults, many with dementia, benefit from a safe, supervised, enriching program. Families benefit, too, as they are able to work, confident that their aging mom or dad are safe during the day.
Living Well – These vulnerable families that arrive at Desert Mission often need help with basic life skills. Living Well provides help navigating resources, finding medical care, setting goals, and financial education to support their journey to self-sufficiency.
Your gift makes a world of difference to the urgent, life-changing work of HonorHealth Desert Mission. Please give today to help our vulnerable neighbors.

In the communities served by New Pathways for Youth, youth experience poverty and three times the adversity of their peers. New Pathways for Youth is changing that. They are building a future where every young person can live their life with joy and purpose, confident in their ability to decide their own path.
To make it happen, New Pathways for Youth provides 1:1 mentoring with a dedicated adult and a proven program for personal growth, including tailored goal setting and connections to vital resources, all within a supportive peer group. In doing so, they are transforming the lives of youth by providing the support, stability, and skills they and their families need to flourish.

In Arizona, 1 in 8 people and 1 in 5 children are currently experiencing food insecurity, which is the inability to reliably access sufficient nutritious food to support an active, healthy lifestyle, due to a lack of physical, social, or financial resources. Midwest Food Bank began in 2003 when a few farmers decided to help the people in their town that were experiencing food insecurity. Midwest Food Bank is a faith-based organization committed to sharing the love of Christ by alleviating hunger and malnutrition locally and throughout the world, as well as providing disaster relief, all without discrimination. The Arizona Division of Midwest Food Bank opened in 2017, serving just 30 non-profit partner agencies with free food. Today, over 280 partner agencies receive free food, totaling over $60M in value annually.
You can use your tax credit to help feed our hungry neighbors through their four programs: Food for Non-Profits: MFB provides free food and household supplies to over 280 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, churches, and other non-profit organizations who then distribute it to people in need within our communities.
Disaster Relief: MFB provides food, water, and clean-up kits to victims of natural disasters. In Arizona, this includes fires, flooding, and heat relief.
Tender Mercies: These savory rice and bean meals are fortified with vegetable protein and essential vitamins and minerals. The meals are instant, healthy, packaged in-house, and cost just 25 cents per meal. Hope Packs: This student feeding program provides food-insecure children with supplemental food every weekend, to ensure that their tummies are full when they return to school on Monday ready to learn.
Over 99% of every dollar donated goes directly to these food programs. In fact, every $1 donated yields $30 worth of food for people in need. And as the demand for a simple meal continues to grow due to inflationary pressures, Midwest Food Bank continuously seeks new procurement partners for donations and opportunities to rescue food that would otherwise be discarded into a landfill.

The Love House Kids Program is an Arizona-based nonprofit dedicated to the mission of putting an end to child abuse.
They work to provide support and services to some of the most vulnerable and often forgotten members of society—children living in group homes and shelters across the valley. They help these children find their inner value, setting them up to be successful in life. This is accomplished through a wide range of programs, including educational seminars (anti-bullying, drug abuse avoidance and finding self-worth), socially healthy outings (camping, hikes, zoo visits), and life-skill training sessions. Children are taught how to avoid bad habits and behaviors and introduce them to things like budgeting, cooking, and interpersonal interactions. The group also works to provide back-to-school supplies, allowing children to have the tools they need to be successful in their studies.
In addition, they facilitate a Christmas gift drive, providing gifts to 150–200 children every year who would otherwise go without. The Love House Kids Program believes no child should be left behind in life and does everything they can to help them understand that someone cares about them.
Their small, dedicated group of volunteers works tirelessly to support at-risk youth - none of which is possible without the support of the community. Their team works solely off of donations and volunteerism; they do not take any salaries, bonuses, or commissions. As such, all funds entrusted to them are able to be put right back into their mission.
The Love House Kids Program firmly believes in the future of our youth. Typically, the children they work with seek nothing more than a sense of belonging and normalcy. By helping those in group homes and shelters, they encourage them to break the cycle of abuse and find ways to grow into happy, productive members of society.

PV Community Food Bank was founded in 1986 when a few community members started collecting food in their garages, so they could deliver emergency food supplies to struggling families in their community. Today, their mission remains the same - to provide assistance to those who are living in NE Phoenix with food insecurity who live in the 98-square-miles of the PV Unified School District.
PVCFB is run entirely by volunteers. Since its founding, they have relied primarily on cash and food donations from individuals and businesses, with no government funding accepted. Your contribution helps cover food costs, increasing PVCFB’s capacity to serve more individuals and families.
Programs include:
Family Food Boxes: Families within these boundaries are able to visit the food bank to receive a food box which includes nutritionally balanced groceries, as well as essentials such as soap, toothpaste, and toilet tissue.
Weekend Food4Kids: In 2006, the PVCFB joined forces with the PVUSD to launch a new program for Title 1 School students who were going hungry on weekends. Although these children received free meals during the school week, they had little or no food support on the weekend and often arrived at school on Monday feeling lethargic and unable to focus on learning. They now distribute nutritious, kid-friendly meals and snacks to the students on Friday, so they can stay well-nourished over the weekend and return to school on Monday ready to learn. Through this program, they serve an average of 600 students each week.
POP (Palomino Outreach Program): PVCFB provides families living within the Palomino neighborhood with Family Food Boxes. These boxes are taken to the neighborhood to distribute to the families.
Neighbors Caring, Neighbors Sharing: Recently, PVCFB has partnered with religious organizations and small businesses to reach neighbors who are not coming into the food bank. The bank assembles Family Food Boxes and delivers them to the organization’s location where neighbors can pick them up.

Prenatal and parenting classes are provided through the Learn & Earn program and parents who attend are rewarded with baby bucks which can be used at our fully stocked Baby Boutique. The Baby Boutique is filled with donated diapers, wipes, new clothes, bottles, pacifiers, and more.

PCC recognizes that the client’s story does not end with them, so they rely on community resources to provide referrals for additional medical services, with the aim to be healthy mommas giving birth to healthy babies, medical insurance enrollment with appointments convenient at PCC, domestic abuse counseling with safe housing options, food pantry, immigrant support all with the objective to meet the tangible needs of women and men in unplanned pregnancy.
The cost of housing in Maricopa County has their clients commuting great distances, some over an hour, as services are not available nearby or they do not have transportation. In the near future, PCC will be launching an ICU Mobile unit to bring these much-needed services to neighboring communities.
By donating to PCC under AZ Tax Credit Qualified Charitable Organization, you support the mission and receive dollar-for-dollar tax credit. Monetary support aside, volunteers are always needed. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to attend their Open House, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

After being kicked out by Jason’s family, Cassandra, Jason, and their kids found themselves in a pizza place parking lot, seeking refuge in their van. The pizza place graciously allowed them to stay, even offering a hot pizza that mysteriously appeared, though they suspected a customer didn’t leave it behind. Despite the uncertainty, the kindness and warmth comforted their hearts. Unsure about seeking help, Cassandra contacted Jennifer Kiernan, founder and Executive Director of Saving Amy, through the homeless shelter. They were then introduced to the Saving Amy team; they found comfort in their genuine desire to assist. It was a reassuring reminder that amidst uncertainty, there are those committed to their well-being. Cassandra overcame initial hesitations and found solace and support through the transformative programs at Saving Amy. From emotional assistance to practical help, such as furnishing their new apartment and secur-
ing a job for Cassandra, Saving Amy played a vital role in stabilizing their family. With five children facing unique challenges, the journey out of homelessness was complex, but Saving Amy provided a crucial support system.
Cassandra’s oldest, dealing with mental health issues, discovered comfort within the Saving Amy community, away from school struggles. Trust and independence, cultivated through participation in Saving Amy’s Kids Go program activities, empowered Cassandra’s children to face challenges with newfound confidence.
The Saving Amy programs profoundly enriched their lives. Kids Go offered engaging activities, fostering community and helping the children discover their interests. Participation in other core programs provided essential support, including transportation, dental care, and budgeting assistance. While acknowledging the mental and emotional
struggles of transitioning from homelessness to stability, Cassandra highlights the reliable support system provided by Saving Amy.
Tender Little Hearts Mini Tales is an equine assisted learning outreach for children. They aspire to create an environment where every little horse or donkey is given a purpose to enrich a human life, bring joy, comfort and leave every person with a reason to smile. Arizona is facing a literacy crisis and it begins in early childhood. Today the literacy skills demanded by 21st century work and learning environments are increasingly more complex. We are unsuccessfully preparing our children to meet that demand. Well-established research underscores the vital importance of addressing this crisis. Children entering kindergarten without the skills they need to succeed in school rarely meet the critical milestone of reading proficiently by third grade, a strong predictor of future academic and vocational success.
Tender Little Hearts’ programs promote literacy and inspire a passion for reading. They engage children at their current reading levels during their early developmental years, fostering the confidence and enthusiasm necessary to improve their reading abilities. This growth is supported through their interactions with our miniature equines, which adds depth to their educational experience.
They meet children where they are in their reading journey, helping them overcome challenges and learning obstacles through Equine Assisted Learning. Children build confidence with an understanding listener, one who doesn’t criticize, one who encourages the child to continue to read with the outcome goal of improving their reading proficiency and achieving grade level fluency. These initiatives enhance children’s vocabulary, instill moral values and lessons, and improve their conversations with others. Tender Little Hearts offers an exceptional benefit in Equine Assisted Learning. Their trained miniature therapy horses travel throughout the Valley, providing these programs to individuals who may otherwise have difficulty accessing these programs and services. Tender Little Hearts assists those with special needs, developmental challenges, disabilities, resident homes for abused or at-risk children, as well as those in foster care and child advocacy centers.
Their organization is volunteer driven and every dollar of funding received is allocated directly to these amazing programs, enabling them to assist underserved, low-income and homeless populations, as well as communities in lower socio-economic areas.

Hope Community Services provides trauma-informed child welfare and behavioral health programs to ensure that Arizona’s children have a safe, stable and healthy environment where they can heal and thrive. HCS partners with the Arizona Department of Child Safety to provide visitation services to youth and families involved with the department. Visitation can help implement many essential family reunification goals, including maintaining the parent/child/sibling relationships; enhancing child and parent self-images; promoting partnership between parents and foster parents; learning and practicing parenting skills; helping family members confront reality; and documenting progress towards reunification goals.
Additionally, their behavioral health and therapy programs serve the emotional needs of children and families who are at risk due to the impact of abuse, neglect, and trauma. HCS strives to get each child back on a normal developmental path and to prevent them from developing any long-term trauma-related mental or behavioral health problems. HCS provides the healing and support needed for a bright and healthy future for the children and families they serve through their Outpatient Behavioral Health Services Department.
They offer multiple modalities to help strengthen individual and family functioning, improve coping skills, and increase pro-social behavior and problem-solving abilities to help achieve increased self-sufficiency. Trauma Therapy is designed to assist kids with treatment goals related to childhood trauma or complex trauma. Additionally, treatment works to improve the client’s sense of safety and emotional regulation through a Trauma centered curriculum. Equine Therapy is a unique form of therapy for children whose lives are extremely impaired by significant trauma and haven’t done well in a therapeutic office setting.
Children are able to interact with miniature horses during their sessions.

Founded by Darin and Kara Moss, A Mighty Change of Heart (AMCHAZ) is an Arizona-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting foster children by providing them with personalized duffle bags filled with essential items during the often-challenging transitions into the foster care system. Since its founding eight years ago, AMCHAZ has delivered more than 11,000 bags to children in Arizona’s foster care system, each packed with brand new clothing, hygiene products, and comforting personal items tailored to the child’s age and needs. This small, yet impactful, gesture has become a beacon of hope, helping foster children feel a sense of belonging and dignity in uncertain times.
Darin and Kara’s journey began over a decade ago when they opened their home as foster parents, eventually fostering more than 25 children. Moved by the needs of these children—many arriving with little to call their own—the Mosses were inspired to create a nonprofit that could address the immediate and often overlooked needs of foster youth across the state. Their commitment extended beyond fostering: Darin and Kara adopted eight of the children they fostered, including multiple sibling groups, ensuring they would grow up with a stable family and a loving home.
Now, with the recent opening of a larger facility in Avondale, AMCHAZ is poised to expand its reach, providing more resources to Arizona’s foster children. The new warehouse will enable AMCHAZ to increase its capacity, reaching even more children in need with personalized support and a tangible reminder that they are not forgotten.
At the heart of AMCHAZ is the Moss family’s belief that every foster child deserves to feel valued and supported. Their dedication has created ripples of change, showing that love, community, and compassion can transform lives.

Arizonans for Children Inc., incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, exists to facilitate opportunities and provide effective solutions to alleviate hardships and improve the fragile lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected children in foster care. This challenging journey often involves multiple moves, inconsistent caregiving, and emotional trauma stemming from feeling helpless and isolated.
Arizonans for Children offer free mentors for children in foster care around Maricopa County and some outlying areas. Mentoring a child in care can be a great way to invest in the future generation, discover new things, and simply have fun. It also gives children the chance to develop leadership and communication skills.
Arizonans for Children opened the state’s first Children’s Visitation Center in Phoenix in January 2003. This center, which is the foundation for all of Arizona’s children’s programs, provides a safe, home-like environment where supervised family visitations and bonding activities can take place. Due to the intense community need and the success of the first center, in June 2007, they opened their second center in Desert Heritage Church in Mesa. Since their inception in January 2003 through June 30, 2023, they have served 1,003,375 people.
It is a sad fact that prior to the opening of the Children’s Visitation Centers, these visits took place in cramped offices. These places generally increase a child’s fear and apprehension while doing nothing to nurture and restore the parent-child relationship.
The Center in downtown Phoenix offers a game room, nursery, toddler room, large living room settings, and outside playground. The Center in Mesa has a dining room, outside playground, nursery, game room and large visitation rooms.
Arizonans for Children takes foster children on excursions to many unique cultural activities and centers throughout Arizona. Using teams of volunteers and in-kind donations, they can provide foster children with a variety of experiences that will broaden their view of the world and their place in it.
With the help of the community, they will continue to support these children for many years to come. Join in their mission to better future generations.

Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK) has been serving kids and teens in Arizona’s foster care system for 35 years by matching them with supportive, caring adults through foster care, adoption, and mentoring. AASK firmly believes that relationships matter, leading to nearly 130 successful adoptions each year, in addition to nearly 700 youth being placed with AASK foster families. With these adults and families by their side, children in foster care not only feel loved and supported, but their confidence also grows, giving them the power to dream big and imagine a bright future. This often leads them to break the cycle of abuse, trauma, and neglect that can result in generations of foster care placements.
Two of the organization’s most unique programs are the kinship and mentoring programs. AASK’s kinship program focuses on families caring for a relative’s child, typically grandparents raising their grandchildren. These caregivers often take on the responsibility unexpectedly but willingly, with little to no support from the state. AASK provides a dedicated team to offer one-on-one support for each of these families, as well as an entire website dedicated to answering their questions at their convenience.
AASK’s unique mentoring program primarily serves youth ages 9 to 15 living in group homes, who are particularly vulnerable to addiction, poverty, and unstable housing. These kids and teens often feel neglected, believing that the only adults in their lives are the staff paid to care for them. The mentoring program pairs them with adult mentors who want to spend time with them, get to know them, and have fun together. AASK provides a dedicated team to offer support and answer questions for both the kinship and mentoring programs.

Since 1933, Catholic Charities Community Services of Arizona has been dedicated to serving our most vulnerable neighbors throughout Northern and Central Arizona. With over 20 programs, they reach thousands of people each year, regardless of their race, ethnicity, economic status, or religious affiliation. Catholic Charities summarizes their mission as: Serving and Sheltering Our Neighbors; Strengthening Children and Families; Welcoming Refugees and Immigrants; and Collaborating with Our Community.
As one of the major social service agencies of the Diocese of Phoenix, CCCS operates within the principles of its faith tradition, with values based on Catholic Social Teaching. While they do not provide services that are contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church, they do respect the religious beliefs and values of all clients, staff and volunteers, welcoming all regardless of background or religion.
Last year, CCCS assisted more than 23,000 individuals, including 1,000+ homeless veterans, nearly 300 families with foster care training and/or placement, 1,500+ affordable housing residents who received support and resources through resident services, nearly 3,000 youth who participated in education, development and peer-leadership and 9,000+ people on a path to U.S. citizenship.
When you donate to Catholic Charities, you’re providing critical resources and wraparound care that truly changes lives. Take it from Robin. Robin had been in and out of jail most of her early adult years. She was lost in the throes of addiction and had her children removed from her care. After what would be her final stay in jail, she was introduced to Catholic Charities Juniper House in Flagstaff. Robin is now a lead probation officer, overseeing the same recovery program in which she was once enrolled.
“My life today feels like a dream compared to eight years ago,” shares Robin, “I woke up in a home that I own, reunited with my daughter who now lives with me. I have a career that’s really rewarding, working to help people that are struggling like I was years ago. Catholic Charities really did give me a life I like living.”

Every year, more than 20,000 boys in the U.S. age out of foster care without the support they need to thrive. Studies show that boys who age out without stable guidance face a 20% risk of becoming homeless, while only half secure employment by age 24. Raising Arizona’s Men is here to change these statistics by providing hope and direction for boys in group homes and those transitioning out of foster care.
Raising Arizona’s Men knows that each boy has unique potential, and they offer tools to help them reach it. Through dedicated, faith-based programs, they empower these young men to become self-reliant and strong. Programs like Skills Day provide hands-on training in essential life skills, from budgeting to career exploration, ensuring boys have practical tools for independent living. At Ram Camp, young men build camaraderie, learn teamwork, and gain confidence, helping them transition from adolescence to adulthood with resilience and purpose.
For those who have already aged out, Raising Arizona’s Men offers the Launch Pad program, a supportive environment where young men can find mentorship, job training, and resources. This program not only equips them with employment skills but also fosters personal growth through a sense of belonging. Their Bible Study sessions offer spiritual grounding, building inner strength and guiding young men to make positive choices.
Every program is anchored by caring mentors and leaders who are invested in the success of each young man they meet. Raising Arizona’s Men isn’t just about providing services—it’s about creating a community where young men are valued, supported, and empowered to build a brighter future.
Raising Arizona’s Men is changing the lives of Arizona’s young men one step at a time, and helping to break the cycle with Raising Arizona’s Men!
Raising Arizona’s Men is a qualified charitable foster care organization, and you can support their mission by either volunteering as a mentor or by making a donation. Your support allows them to give young men the tools they need to become strong leaders, dedicated employees, committed husbands, and devoted fathers.

What is the difference between a deduction and a tax credit?
A deduction reduces the amount of your income upon which the tax is determined. A credit reduces your tax liability as if you had already paid the tax.
While the following pages contain organizations do not qualify for a tax credit, donations to these 501(c)(3) nonprofits qualify for an itemized deduction from your income. Because the tax rate is then applied to a reduced income, this can minimize your overall tax liability.
As you engage with these organizations, consider the dual impact your support can have—on the causes you champion and on the potential positive adjustments to your federal tax burden. Join the movement towards a better Arizona, knowing that your generosity can ripple through both the community and your financial landscape.
As always, consult with you tax advisor to determine if your charitable donation or portion of your charitable donation is tax-deductible.

Desert Foothills Land Trust connects people to nature by collaborating with communities and partners to protect and care for the land and wildlife of our fragile Sonoran Desert. Imagine for a moment that there were no giant saguaros, standing as if on sentry on rugged hillsides. There are no brightly blooming prickly pear cactus in springtime. No staccato chatter of cactus wrens. No petroglyphs are etched on centuries-old rock. No creosote perfume after a cleansing monsoon rain. Unimaginable, isn’t it? What will our desert look like in 25, 50, or 100 years? That largely depends on the decisions we make today.
The survival of the Sonoran Desert is not assured; it is saved acre by acre, with reverence and reason, by engaged residents like yourselves. Over the last 30 years, we have conserved nearly 1,100 acres on 29 preserves. These open spaces are protected in perpetuity, ensuring that the land remains forever in its natural beauty.
Many of our preserves are open to the public, providing opportunities for recreation and exploration. We offer guided hikes, an educational speaker series focusing on our Sonoran Desert, information booths, and our annual free family fun event, Desert Discovery Day, all to provide opportunities for everyone to find their own personal connection to nature.
Desert Foothills Land Trust receives no dedicated source of funding at the state, county, or local level. They rely on the generous support of private individuals and corporate donors. Your support helps them:
• Identify and protect our community’s most important and valued lands.
• Steward, monitor, and defend the lands they protect in perpetuity.
• Connect people to nature through events, activities, and access to protected lands.
• Collaborate with local and regional partners to connect open spaces.
Please join Desert Foothills Land Trust as they invest in the land they love - and in themselves and those who follow. With your generous support, they will continue to make huge strides for the protection of our unparalleled Sonoran Desert. Your support of their mission is not just an act of charity; it’s a testament to your commitment to preserving this legacy for generations to come. For Wildlife. For People. Forever.

Children’s Cancer Network (CCN) is a beacon of hope and support for children and families facing the harrowing journey of pediatric cancer. As potential donors, you have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of these young warriors and their loved ones. At its core, CCN is an organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate assistance to families affected by childhood cancer. It recognizes that battling pediatric cancer extends beyond medical treatments, encompassing emotional, financial, and logistical challenges. CCN strives to be a steadfast ally throughout this difficult journey, offering a holistic approach to support.
One key facet of CCN’s mission is to alleviate the financial burden that often accompanies a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Financial assistance, gas and food cards, basic needs, adopt-a-family programs, and the provision of wigs and beds are offered by CCN. By providing these basics at no cost, CCN assists families to focus on their child’s well-being rather than the overwhelming financial strain.
CCN also prioritizes emotional well-being through a range of psychosocial programs to help children and their families cope with the emotional challenges of cancer. These programs include counseling services, support groups, and activities designed to foster a sense of community and connection among families facing similar struggles. Contributions sustain these vital programs, fostering resilience and emotional strength in the face of adversity.
An immediate and long-term health and wellness focus is important for childhood cancer warriors and their families. CCN optimizes physical, emotional, and social outcomes for parents and children through seasonal day camps, parent’s night out opportunities, and family fun activities in CCN’s Let’s Move Center.
In summary, donations to CCN transcend financial assistance; they become a lifeline for families navigating the daunting path of pediatric cancer. Support enables CCN to uphold its commitment to comprehensive care, ensuring that no child or family faces this journey alone. Together, donors can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these young warriors and their families, offering them hope, strength, and the support they need to overcome the challenges of childhood cancer.

Lost Our Home Pet Rescue provides compassionate solutions to permanent and temporary displacement, pet abandonment, and hunger by assisting both pets and their families, especially during times of domestic violence, eviction, homelessness, illness, and more.
They take a proactive approach to keeping pets out of overcrowded shelters where they are at risk of being euthanized, and instead place them with the families that love them. By bridging the gap between human welfare and pet welfare services, Lost Our Home ensures that families facing adversity don’t have to choose between their own well-being and the safety of their beloved pets.
Programs for people and pets include:
90-Day Temporary Care Crisis Program: Provides complete pet care for families experiencing a crisis so that they don’t need to make the heartbreaking decision to leave pets behind in dangerous and possibly lifethreatening situations so they can access housing, personal safety, or support where a pet is not allowed.
Animal Rescue: Transferring pets from high-risk shelters and pet parents who can no longer care for them. As a no-kill shelter, pet parents can take solace in knowing that their pets will be adopted by a family to love and care for them.
120-Day Temporary Care Domestic Violence Program: In partnership with several domestic violence shelters, Lost Our Home provides support for pets on their campuses.
Pet Food Bank Program: Provides pet food and supplies to pet parents who temporarily cannot afford food for their pets, removing the difficult decision to choose between getting food or medicine for themselves or food for their pets.
Tempe First Responder Program: Provides 24/7 access to the shelter for first responders on duty when they have a situation involving a pet that needs a safe place to go.
In the past 15 years, Lost Our Home has helped over 36,000 pets, fed over 1,000,000 meals through its food bank, helped over 21,500 people in crisis, and adopted over 11,000 pets into safe and loving homes.

Founded in 1999, PACC911 (Phoenix Animal Care Coalition) is a vital force for good in Arizona, uniting over 140 animal rescue organizations across the state—primarily in Maricopa County. By working together, we can accomplish far more than any one group alone, and their shared goal is simple: to save as many animals as possible.
Founded in 1999, PACC911 (Phoenix Animal Care Coalition) brings together over 140 animal rescue partners throughout Arizona, most in Maricopa County, by uniting them and offering opportunities to work together for the greater benefit of the animals we serve.
PACC911 assists their coalition partners by lifting the burden of some of the major challenges that rescues face daily, thus maximizing the numbers of animals that can be saved. They provide large-scale outdoor Adopt-A-Thons in a variety of cities and venues, where partners can showcase adoptable animals and meet new adopters.
PACC911 is dedicated to easing the burden on animal rescues by addressing some of the most significant challenges they face. Their large-scale Adopt-A-Thons provide a platform for rescue partners to showcase adoptable animals and connect with potential adopters. But perhaps their most impactful initiative is the Critical Care Program, which provides financial assistance for veterinary care to sick, injured, or abused animals. This support is crucial for rescuers who would otherwise be unable to afford life-saving treatments for vulnerable animals. In 2023 alone, the Critical Care Program helped 1,800 dogs and cats, and since its inception in 2012, it has supported the rescue and rehabilitation of 11,000 animals. These numbers represent real lives saved, thanks to the generosity of donors like you.
Their signature program is the Critical Care Program which offers their partners financial assistance to defray the high cost of veterinary care for sick, injured or abused animals. This allows their rescue partners to “intake” thousands of animals who otherwise would have no chance at life. Their partners depend on these funds to save the lives of the most vulnerable animals. In 2023 alone, the program impacted close to 1,750 dogs and cats and since inception in 2012, close to 10,000.
As Arizona’s population continues to grow, so too does the number of animals in need of rescue. Local shelters are overwhelmed, and many animals face a bleak future without the help of organizations like PACC911 and their dedicated network of rescue partners. These partners—many of whom operate on shoestring budgets—rely on their support to provide safe havens and critical care for the animals in their care.
As the population in Arizona continues to grow, the animal population grows in accordance, and it is clear that the existing county shelters are ill equipped to house the numbers of animals who are now residents of our counties and state. Because of this dire situation, PACC911’s rescue partners have stepped up and elevated their role in the community, saving thousands of animals who otherwise would have no safe havens when given up or abandoned.
PACC911 also has a pet food Pantry to help low- income families keep their pets in the home. Chuck Waggin’ Pet Food Pantry serves about 200 plus families keeping pets fed.
In addition to rescue programs, PACC911 also runs the Chuck Waggin’ Pet Food Pantry, which assists over 200 families each month by providing pet food to those in need. By helping families keep their pets at home, they can prevent animals from being surrendered due to financial hardship, further alleviating the strain on local shelters and rescues.
By supporting PACC911, you are helping to support 140 rescues in Arizona who collectively saved over 30,000 animals in 2023 when shelters were unable to accommodate them.
In 2023, the combined efforts of PACC911’s partners resulted in the rescue of over 36,000 animals—many of whom would not have had a chance without the resources and support PACC911 provides.
Please help us to help them.

The Phoenix Herpetological Society (PHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which was founded in 2001 by three passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference. Prior to the founding of PHS, reptile owners had no outlet to relinquish ownership if needed, nor was there a resource to acquire accurate, reliable information on their care. In addition, native and non-native species were being destroyed by state facilities and other animal rescues solely due to a lack of knowledge regarding the care and housing of these amazing creatures.
In response, The Phoenix Herpetological Society was launched and is now a statewide facility that includes a surrender facility, educational programs, summer camps, and rescue and rehabilitation. Their mission is to promote conservation and preservation of native and non-native reptiles through education, rehabilitation, rescue, and relocation.
PHS FOCUSES ON TWO SPECIFIC GOALS: Rescue and Rehabilitation: The need for a sanctuary was not only for non-native but native species as well. Currently 90% of the animals The Phoenix Herpetological Society is home to have been rescued from the pet trade. They assist the general public, humane societies, animal welfare leagues, animal control departments, law enforcement and other organizations across the United States to rescue these beautiful animals. In one instance, PHS assisted the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) on a rescue mission in Texas. During this rescue, PHS was able to save an incredible 572 animals. Many of these animals were rehabilitated, some were adopted, and many still call PHS home.
Conservation Education: Conservation begins with education. Our desert (and our planet) is in serious jeopardy. It is imperative to teach our youth the importance each animal plays in our ecosystem. Last year the PHS outreach program reached 250,000 people, most of whom were school aged children. PHS’s education programs include hands-on demonstrations, camps, field trips, trainings, science nights, a reptile club, and their scout program.
You can assist The Phoenix Herpetological Society by joining their volunteer program, donating items, or donating funds to support their amazing work.

The Phoenix Union Foundation for Education was founded in 1984 with the mission of strengthening our community by investing in student success. To that end, the Foundation awards student scholarships and educator mini-grants supporting the Phoenix Union High School District (PXU), Arizona’s largest public high school-only district which serves over 26,000 students in the heart of Phoenix. The District’s mission of “preparing every student for success in college, career, and life” pairs well with the Foundation’s mission.
To achieve this mission, the Foundation sponsors fundraising events and campaigns to provide scholarship assistance to PXU students pursuing post-secondary college, trade, and technical education routes. The Foundation also provides financial support to classrooms through mini-grants for educators who provide creative learning opportunities for PXU students. They also partner with community organizations who support post-secondary educational pathways.
Each year, the Foundation awards nearly $100,000 in scholarships through a comprehensive application process and partners with the Arizona Community Foundation. This ensures a fair and consistent process. It is heartening to celebrate all the scholarship recipients and their families at the annual scholarship reception.
The mini-grant awards support PXU educators by allowing them to create programs and projects that strive to increase interest and academic achievement across all content areas.
Additionally, there are opportunities to fund a named scholarship for a corporation or individual, attend a fundraising event, volunteer your time as a scholarship reader, or serve on a committee or event.
Your contributions to the Phoenix Union Foundation for Education will make a difference in the lives of Phoenix Union High School District students and will support a brighter future for Phoenix.

If you wish to leave some of your estate to charitable institutions, then a gift from your retirement accounts can have tremendous advantages. There are many ways to benefit your favorite charity both now and at your death. If these charitable gifts are done properly, you can receive tax advantages now, and save your heirs taxes later.
Distributing appreciated assets with a low basis.
Did you buy stock or other assets at a low price? Do you own stock that has increased in value with no way to trace what your original purchase price? Giving stock and other highly appreciated assets with a low basis can be a great way to support your favorite charity. As the donor, you can claim the charitable deduction for the value of the gifted assets. The charity, meanwhile, can accept the gift and cash it out without paying taxes. This gift benefits your favorite charity and avoids capital gains taxes on the appreciated assets. Gifting your required minimum distributions from your IRA. Another option to support your favorite charity is a gift during your lifetime by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution, also known as a charitable IRA Rollover.
Individuals who are age 70.5 or older can direct their annual required minimum distributions (up to $100,000) from an IRA to a charity tax-free. However, the payment must be made directly to the charity to qualify for this tax-free distribution. While the individual distributing this gift from an IRA doesn’t receive an income tax charitable deduction, they also don’t have to recognize the distribution as taxable income. If you are already making gifts to a charity each year, this can be a way to benefit your charity and reduce your taxes at the same time. Just remember you cannot take the distribution into your bank account first! The gift must go straight to the charity from your IRA. The advice of a CPA will ensure you do this properly.
Making your charity the beneficiary of your traditional 401(k) or IRA.
Your contributions to your traditional 401(k) or IRA are pre-tax money. You, or an individual inheriting the IRA from you, will pay taxes when they withdraw
the funds. If you have a beneficiary on your retirement accounts who is 10 years younger than you, they will have to withdraw all those funds within 10 years of your passing. If giving to charities is part of your plan, then making the charity the beneficiary may be the better plan, tax-wise. Naming a charity as a beneficiary means they will pay no taxes on the distribution of that traditional retirement account. Be careful when you have both individual beneficiaries and charities on the same IRA as there can be unintended tax consequences when you do so. Consult with an attorney or CPA to avoid any issues.
Donor-Advised Funds offer a simple way for you to benefit a variety of charities during your life and beyond. A donoradvised fund can be established with, for instance, a community foundation. In our state, the Arizona Community Foundation is one choice for a donoradvised fund. The donor can give cash or securities to the fund. He or she receives an income tax charitable deduction for the year of the donation. The donor
designates the charities that they want to receive the benefit of their donation – or they can designate the types of charities rather than specific charities. A donor-advised fund can be used for a gift from your estate after your death as well.
A charitable remainder trust allows the donor to give assets to an irrevocable trust that then provides income for one or more individual beneficiaries (even you and a spouse), and at the end of a specific time, or on the death of the beneficiaries, the remainder of the assets are given to charity. This type of trust can be another method to gift highly appreciated assets. The trust will permit the donor to claim an immediate charitable deduction for the value of the assets that will ultimately pass to the charity. The donation also avoids the capital gains taxes on any appreciated assets. If you are interested in charitable planning for your estate, our office can help. Call the Law Office of Libby Banks for an appointment to discuss the options at 602-375-6752. You can also visit LibbyBanks.com to learn more.
