May 2-8, 2019 Volume 17 Issue 18 Mowers & Music It’s a one-of-a-kind event: Mowers and Music in Canal Flats, on Saturday, May 4. Come for the chili cook-off, kid and adult races, mud bog, free hot dogs and sliders from The Weinerman, and (new this year) all-ages belt sander race. Mexican Dinner This Sunday, May 5 is ‘Cinco de Mayo’ and the Invermere Legion is celebrating with a Mexican-themed dinner on Friday, May 3. As always, it will be a tasty adventure beginning at 6:30 pm. Try your luck at the meat and 50/50 draws while enjoying some fantastic food and fellowship.

Invermere Reads Come meet our local authors at the first ever Invermere Reads event, on Saturday, May 4 from 11 am to 4 pm. Taynton Bay Spirits will host seven local, published writers, including best-selling author Elinor Florence and recently published Pioneer reporter Dauna Ditson. Bring your writerly questions, get books signed, and pick up (or donate) a book at the book swap. Also, there will likely be gin.

Cinco de Mayo in Edgewater The Edgewater Legion invites you to a great Cinco de Mayo night of live music on Friday, May 3. Doors open at 6 pm, with Mexican-themed food available and door prizes. Cover is by donation. Live music with the Pickups starts at 8 pm. Wear your Mexican finest and make a night of it.
