The 44 acre site is in a beautiful rural setting and includes over 30 acres of playing fields, an all weather flood-lit pitch, a gymnasium and purpose built indoor sports area. There are excellent facilities for teaching, many of which are specialist areas for subjects like Science,Technology, Drama and ICT.

Eggbuckland Community College is a happy, supportive, exciting and inspirational place to be a student. 'Learning Caring Achieving' is very much at the heart of our ethos; we want our students to really enjoy their time with us, make the most of the wealth of opportunities available to them, and achieve to the very best of their ability.

We are extremely proud of the fact that students at Eggbuckland typically make excellent progress, placing us in the top 20% of all schools nationally. This is as a result of high quality teaching, excellent care and guidance and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including astronomy, dance, drama, music, science and a variety of different sports.

As important as great results is the fact that our students leave us with the skills, qualities and qualifications they need to go on to play a key role in their community as active, responsible and dependable citizens.

THE PERFECT ENVIRONMENT

Our calm, purposeful teaching environment enables students to focus on their learning and develop the skills and qualities they need for life. Eggbuckland's Arts specialism and established excellence in e-learning ensures that they learn in a creative and innovative setting, supported by superb teaching and excellent ICT facilities.

We build on pupils' achievements at Key Stage 2, delivering a broad, balanced and tailored 2-year Key Stage 3 programme. This is designed to stretch and challenge our more able students while supporting those who may need extra help. A 3-year Key Stage 4, which starts in Year 9, give students numerous excellent and engaging choices, across both academic and vocational programmes.

In the Sixth Form, our Post-16 curriculum prepares students for a future in Higher Education, employment or training with an extensive choice of 'A' levels, alternative Level 3 courses, vocational qualifications and enrichment activities.

Throughout all Key Stages, a strong emphasis is placed on encouraging young people to take responsibility for their learning and develop independence, curiosity and resilience. In addition, a core programme followed by all students helps develop their knowledge and understanding across a wide range of key areas.

Caring Of the utmost importance is that our students feel happy, safe and supported. This helps them grow in confidence and develop self-esteem, enabling them to achieve to their full potential and succeed in life.

We are extremely proud of our highly acclaimed pastoral care system which places students in small, mixed age Tutor Groups in one of six 'Houses'. This fosters a very caring climate, enables friendships across year groups and encourages responsibility. The 'House' system nurtures a strong sense of belonging, a great sense of pride and, since 'House' points are awarded for positive events, produces healthy competition across the six 'Houses'!

The Tutor meets with students every morning and is available to see parents by appointment throughout the year, as well as on Review Days. Parents can access their child's attendance, achievement and behaviour records at any time, through a personal, secure log-in to 'FROG', our online learning platform.

Our very comprehensive Student Leadership Programme develops social awareness and responsibility through encouraging young people to play an active part in the development of the College community.

We encourage all our students to take an active part in College life. Many of them work selflessly to raise money for charity, including Children in Need, St Luke’s Hospice and Help for Heroes.

The use of the latest technology together with high quality teaching gives all our students the perfect environment for learning.

At Eggbuckland, we believe passionately that every student is capable of meeting their potential, making a positive contribution and achieving exam success. We are proud of our standing in the local and wider community and the fact that our persistent high performance has been recognised by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust in a special award for Continuous Outstanding Improvement.

Alongside our exam successes, we are equally proud of our other achievements which demonstrate the skills and talents of our students – including sports, science, technical and performing arts accolades, Diana awards for good citizenship and even our World Record for the largest Macarena!

As a large Community College, we are able to offer our students an exceptional range of extra-curricular opportunities in which to participate.

We make good use of our excellent sports facilities with clubs and teams in all major sports and an 'Activate' programme which operates during evenings, weekends and holidays. Students are also able to benefit from a wide range of activities including Ten Tors, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, debating and public speaking, spelling bee and enterprise groups, as well as annual productions in drama, dance and music and a College musical.

These enriching opportunities ensure that Eggbuckland students not only have lasting memories of their time with us, but develop important skills which, alongside their excellent qualifications, prepare them for the rest of their lives.
