Senior Chronicle YOUR ESSENTIAL ROUND-UP FOR THE WEEK COMMENCING 18 MAY 2026 Message from the Headmaster This week, all Senior School pupils have been engaged in examinations. While assessments are an important part of their educational journey and play a significant role in consolidating learning, we have been equally mindful to emphasise the importance of balance. Our consistent message to pupils has been to focus on sustained effort, to adopt the strategies that serve them best, and to trust that the results will follow. They have been exceptional in their approach and attitude during what can be an especially demanding period.

It was a particular privilege on Tuesday to welcome Olympic gold medallist and two-time world champion rower, Rory Gibbs, author of The Athlete: Built Not Born. He spoke to pupils about his experiences as an athlete, highlighting how setting clear performance goals, maintaining discipline in training, and building strong relationships founded on mutual respect were instrumental in achieving his ambitions.

Although examinations will continue for GCSE pupils after half term, all pupils have worked incredibly hard in recent weeks. I would therefore like to wish them a restful and restorative half-term break. Mr Everitt
