Wintershall Assembly Young Voices at the O2
On Friday 23rd January, boys from the Upper Prep Chamber Choir sang at the Young Voices concert at the O2 Arena in London. They were part of a choir of 8,000 children, performing to an audience of 10,000 family members and friends. Guest artists included Freestyle Love Supreme vocalist Aneesa Folds and singer songwriter Ruti, alongside a professional live band and the Urban Strides street dancers This was truly an unforgettable experience for the boys, and a wonderful opportunity for them to share their love of singing with children from schools across the UK. Many thanks to Mr Heaver, Mr Harris and Ms Evans for accompanying them
Wintershall Assembly
Prep pupils were treated to an assembly by the Wintershall Players on Monday morning The actors brought to life two parables The Parable of the Lost Son and the Anointing of Jesus at Bethany Their message of forgiveness reminded us that although we may fall short at times, we are made perfect in God’s eyes through our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

He read a story to the children, after which they had the chance to ask him a wide range of questions, from “Why did you choose your career?” to “What is your favourite hobby?” Mr Everitt was impressed with their thoughtful questioning and excellent listening skills, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the session

Reception News
On Tuesday, Reception learned about the miracle of the feeding of the 5000. To bring the story to life, we visited the dining room to make our own bread with Harry, our Executive Chef Manager, and Emily, our Assistant Catering Manager The children worked brilliantly, kneading their dough with enthusiasm and carefully choosing their favourite toppings, including poppy seeds and cheese
When the bread rolls came out of the oven, they looked absolutely delicious, and the children were thrilled to taste the results of their hard work!
Our U9A squad enjoyed a fantastic morning of rugby last Saturday at a local tournament They opened with a tightly contested first match, showing real determination despite a narrow loss. The team responded superbly, regrouping with confidence and going on to win their next three fixtures in convincing style. A brilliant effort from all involved. Well done to the players for their skill, teamwork, and resilience.
Last Friday saw all three of our U10 teams in action, and they delivered an afternoon of excellent performances The progress these players have made across the season was clear for all to see: stronger decision making, improved handling, and a growing understanding of the game. Their commitment on the training pitch is paying off, and they should be very proud of how far they have come.

Murray Cup - commencing Friday 30th January
Cranmore and Rokeby sporting fixtures are remarkably long standing The schools share a common set of sporting values. This trophy completes the circle of sporting competitions between the two schools following the Henkes Shield (Football) and the Phillips Travers Trophy (Cricket). Jake Murray left Rokeby in 2016 after captaining the 1st XV in his final year His favourite team to play against was always Cranmore, hence the beginning of the Murray Cup Annually, many matches are played between the two schools and in rugby, 8 fixtures count towards this prestigious Cup These fixtures, age groups U9s to U13s, started this afternoon on The Henderson. We wish everyone taking part the best of luck.

A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew
While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men ” Immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Reflection
In this week’s story, we are reminded of how Jesus called His first disciples, inviting ordinary people to take part in extraordinary work. On Saturday 31st January, the Church celebrates the life of St John Bosco Born in 1815, St John Bosco was an Italian priest and educator who devoted his life to supporting disadvantaged young people He was known for his compassionate approach, placing emphasis on reason, faith and kindness rather than punishment Through the establishment of schools, workshops and homes, he provided not only shelter but also practical skills and spiritual guidance. His legacy lives on through the worldwide Salesian family, which continues to help young people grow in dignity, faith and opportunity
Prayer
Thanks be to you, Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefit which you have given me; for all the pains and insults which you have borne for me. O most merciful Redeemer, friend and brother, may I know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day, Amen
