Lower Prep Drama Workshop Spring Soirée

My congratulations to the many musicians who performed so brilliantly at the Spring Soirée. I am always so impressed with the quality of the singing and instrumental playing and last night was no exception My thanks to all the music staff who made this concert possible and to Toby H (11 MR), who was an excellent compère for the evening

Lower Prep Drama Workshop Year 5 Residential Trip

Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their residential trip to PGL Windmill Hill From the moment they arrived, the boys threw themselves into every activity with enthusiasm and supported one another brilliantly. Many of the height based challenges proved particularly popular, with the giant swing emerging as a firm favourite. Several pupils even challenged themselves to go higher on their second attempt

The only time the boys paused was to eat or sleep! I could not be prouder of how they represented Cranmore throughout the trip.

A huge thank‑you to Dr Verny White, Mr Sparling and Mr Barson for accompanying the boys and taking such excellent care of them

Mr Peach, Head of Year 5

Lower Prep Drama Workshop Upper Prep Spelling Bee

Since the beginning of term, Upper Prep pupils have been taking part in the Spelling Bee, and on Tuesday the exciting Finals took place All pupils are to be commended for their excellent efforts in learning the challenging vocabulary. The finalists were awarded a medal and high achieving pupils received a certificate in recognition of their hard work

There could only be one winner in each section and after an intense final heat, the following pupils emerged victorious:

Year 4 - Teddy P

Years 5 and 6 - Jesse C

Lower Prep Drama Workshop Year 2 Trip to Roald Dahl Museum

Year 2 had a fantastic time visiting the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. They discovered where Roald Dahl found much of his inspiration and learned about the process he used to create his memorable characters. The children then put their new knowledge into practice by inventing their own characters using Roald Dahl’s top tips!

Lower Prep Drama Workshop Easter Themed Lunch

Our caterers created an incredible Easter feast on the penultimate day of term, featuring a wonderful selection of delicious salads and cakes, all beautifully themed for spring and Easter

Sports News

The final hockey fixtures of the season took place this week, bringing an energetic and enjoyable close to the term A particular highlight was a fantastic Trust afternoon of hockey for our U11s, who joined forces with pupils from St Teresa’s to play a series of friendly yet highly competitive matches. The atmosphere was brilliant throughout, with players from both schools showing great teamwork, skill and sportsmanship. Last week, our U8s produced some excellent performances in their fixtures against Danes Hill, running up an impressive aggregate score of 18 - 4 across the four matches Their determination and enthusiasm were clear to see On Saturday, the U10s also took on Danes Hill and showed strong progress in their play, while the U9s enjoyed a competitive set of matches against Weston Green on Thursday

Away from the hockey pitch, our U11 rugby team had a superb day at the National Rosslyn Park 7s on Thursday The tournament provided a wonderful challenge and an exciting opportunity to test themselves against schools from across the country

With the Easter break now upon us, we look ahead to the summer term and the arrival of cricket, athletics and tennis. Year 6 even have golf to look forward to in their PE lessons, something the pupils are already very excited about.

Chaplaincy News

A reading from the Gospel of John

Jesus, seeing Mary weeping, and the Jews who were come with her weeping, groaned in spirit and troubled himself and he wept

Jesus therefore came to the tomb And he cried with a loud voice: “Lazarus, come forth!”

Reflection

As we come to the end of a busy term and continue our journey towards Easter, may our hearts be lifted up For Christ is not distant from us He enters our world and, through His power, transforms us

This is the central Christian hope: that Christ is incarnate and present in the here and now, even in our places of grief and hurt

Have a wonderful Easter, whatever you are up to, and let us all pray for peace

You stood with Martha, Mary, and Lazarus in their moment of sadness

Stand with us today in the places where we feel worried, tired, or weighed down

Help us to support one another, to bring comfort where there is sadness, and to be signs of your love in our school community

Amen
