Lower Prep School Council News
The members of the Lower Prep School Council have been busy preparing and restoring the bug hotels. This wonderful initiative came from one of our Council meetings during which pupils suggested creating safe homes and shelters for wildlife during Bonfire Weekend.
The Lower Prep School Council also met on Wednesday, and our representatives brought forward some fantastic ideas from their classes. We are excited to start working on several initiatives discussed during the meeting.
Well done, Lower Prep School Council!

The Henkes Shield – 40th Edition
The Henkes Shield is an annual football competition between Cranmore and Rokeby schools, featuring teams from age groups U9 to U13. Established in 1983, this year marked the 40th edition of the event, with two years having been cancelled due to poor weather and the Covid pandemic.
In a fantastic display of skill and teamwork, all Cranmore teams played superbly and secured victory on the day with an overall score of 5.5 points to 2.5. This result adds another triumph to Cranmore’s record, bringing their total wins to 22, while Rokeby remains close behind with 18 victories.
Congratulations to all players and coaches for making this milestone event such a memorable occasion!

Cranmore U13 Football – National Finals Journey
Having qualified through the Regionals, the Cranmore U13 football team travelled to Oxford today to compete in the last 16 of the National Finals. The boys were outstanding in the group stages, finishing unbeaten and without conceding a goal. Cranmore progressed as runners-up on goal difference.
In the knockout rounds, the team continued their impressive form, defeating The Hall School 1–0 in the quarterfinal and Handcross Park School 2–0 in the semi-final.
This set up a thrilling National Final against Repton School. The match was a nail-biter: Cranmore conceded for the first time in the tournament, with the game ending 2–2 after normal time and golden goal. The title was decided on penalties, and in an agonising finish, Cranmore lost 3–2. The team played superbly throughout and represented the school with distinction.
They came so close to adding the U13 title to the U11 National Championship won at Easter a remarkable achievement that would have made Cranmore double National Champions. It was not to be this time, but we could not be prouder of their effort, skill, and sportsmanship.
A huge thank you and well done to the players, the travelling parents and supporters, and to Mr Cox and Mr Down for their guidance.
A Message from our Chaplaincy Team
This Week
A Reading from the Gospel of John
So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”
Reflection
In this week of Remembrance it is important to reflect on the great sacrifice many have made for our freedoms that we enjoy today. We remember all we have loved and all we have lost. And we pray for them and ask God to keep them. Yet Jesus’ life and ministry reminds all of us that death is not the end, it does not have the final say. We are people of the Resurrection, people of hope.
Poem
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
"What soap is for the body, tears are for the soul." Jewish proverb
