Congratulations to our rugby teams on their success in the Murray Cup, with Cranmore once again retaining the trophy Radford House enjoyed a similarly successful week, lifting the Merit Cup for both the Lower and Upper Prep
Prep pupils were treated to a wonderful performance by the Senior Orchestra on Monday morning, ahead of 6NC’s assembly on the importance of telling the truth. Today’s assembly followed this theme and explored Time to Talk Day, which encourages us to talk openly and honestly about how we feel.
Reception to Year 2 took part in drama workshops and had a fantastic time using their imaginations Year 3 celebrated their hard work in class with a chocolate fountain, and all children across Prep enjoyed sampling a Yorkshire pudding as a dessert option, topped off with some delicious sauces!
This week, we hosted the IAPS swimming qualifying event. While we wait for the results, we wish all of our Year 4, 5 and 6 swimmers the very best of luck Good luck also to those involved in this weekend’s Dunckley Shield
Mr Heaver
British Science Week 2026 takes place between 6 and 15 March. Once again, pupils in Years 3 to 6 have the opportunity to enter the national competition, which this year is being run in conjunction with Northumberland University.
Create an A4 or A3 poster that considers the question: “What are children and young people’s visions for a good/positive childhood?”
Bring your poster to school and give it to your form teacher, or send it directly to Dr Verny White by Monday 16 March.
Good luck, and get thinking how could you investigate or show what makes the best experiences in childhood?

Well done, boys, for working so hard!
Lower Prep Drama Workshop
This week, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful drama workshop, by the company Perform, where the children pretended to be different toys from a shop They enthusiastically took on characters such as animals, soldiers and cars The children joined in brilliantly and there were smiles and giggles all around!
Reception News
This week, in Communication and Language, Mrs Prothero gave us step by step instructions for how to make a polar bear biscuit We had to listen carefully to the instructions and choose the ingredients we needed from a selection of choices. Our biscuits looked so adorable and delicious!
Year 1 News
Year 1 explored prepositions this week through the story Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins The children threw themselves into their learning with brilliant creativity They designed their own colourful chickens inspired by Jackson Pollock’s splatter painting style, experimenting with movement, colour and pattern They then used their artwork as a starting point for writing, inventing their own characters and crafting original stories packed with prepositions. Their creativity shone through.
Yorkshire Pudding Day
Our fabulous caterers, Harrisons, delighted us with a Yorkshire Pudding Day on which Yorkshire puddings were served with a delicious array of filling and sauces.

This Week
A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew
And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”) and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “ a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons” Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
Reflection
The Presentation of the Lord shows us faithfulness lived quietly. Mary and Joseph bring Jesus to the Temple in obedience and trust, offering what they have In Simeon and Anna we see lives shaped by patient waiting, prayer, and hope. They recognise in this child the light God has promised a light that comforts, but also challenges, revealing truth and calling for response Candlemas reminds us that Christ comes gently, often unnoticed, yet his light changes everything.
Prayer
God of faithfulness and promise, you fulfilled the hopes of Simeon and Anna when they welcomed Christ into your holy temple
As we celebrate the Presentation of your Son, shine your light into our hearts
Dispel the shadows of fear, weariness and doubt. Teach us to wait patiently and to recognise your presence in ordinary moments Amen.
