Prep Chronicle YOUR ESSENTIAL ROUND-UP FOR THE WEEK COMMENCING 1 JUNE 2026 Message from the Head of Prep It was wonderful to welcome everyone back on Monday. After the heatwave of the half-term break, the weather has been much wetter, and this week’s downpours have sadly forced the cancellation of some of our cricket matches. Nevertheless, the children’s spirits have not been dampened, and they have enjoyed a fantastic first week back. The School Council began the week with a visit to the Houses of Parliament. Well done to those parents for rousing the children early so that they could reach Westminster in time to begin their morning workshop and tour. Thank you to our Librarian, Mrs Watkinson, for hosting a celebration to mark the accomplishments of those who took part in the Reading Challenge. I know she was very impressed with the children’s efforts and the way they engaged with the literature. Thanks must also go to the Music Department for organising the ‘Try an Instrument’ event. We have always been blessed with accomplished musicians here at Cranmore, and the reputation of our musical groups is very strong. Our senior musicians began their journeys in Prep, and it is wonderful to see Mr Harris and Mrs Evans working so passionately to provide our children with exposure to different instruments. There is an enormous amount to look forward to over the coming weeks, including trips, visiting speakers and performances. Needless to say, the focus on learning in the classroom continues, and sports fixtures (weather permitting) have resumed. Very best wishes to those taking part in this weekend’s IAPS National Finals, and to Years 4–6 as they prepare to undertake their ‘Water Safety & Personal Survival’ training as part of their swimming lessons. Mr Heaver
