IPAA NSW Building public sector capability
About IPAA NSW
The New South Wales Division of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA NSW) is the not-for-profit professional association for people who work in or with the public sector.
Our mission is to build the capabilities and connections of our members and support the advancement of the NSW public sector. We work hard to advance the profession of public administration.
IPAA understands the common and unique aspects of working in the public sector and provides a wide range of services to assist our community in building their personal and professional capabilities.
Our services include:
⢠Membership ā Membership is open to any individual passionate about their career and about the professionalism and reputation of the public sector in NSW.
⢠Learning and Development ā We bring together contemporary learning theory and design expertise in developing courses and curriculum to suit the individual needs of clusters and agencies as well as the wider sector.
⢠Events ā We deliver a range of high quality events ranging from influential international speakers to intimate executive leadership events, bringing the latest thinking and innovation in public administration.
⢠Ignite ā Our weekly thought leadership newsletter, Ignite, provides content that explores and challenge ideas about public administration.
IPAA NSW occupies a unique position in the public sector landscape. We work to address public sector capability gaps and drive a consistent fundamental set of skills and capabilities. Our program of activities and publications provides exposure to cutting-edge ideas and best practices. We provide networking opportunities to meet public sector leaders and colleagues from across Government and other sectors and support our members and customers to build and extend their professional network.
Learning at IPAA
Flexible. Accessible. Innovative. Relevant.
Why choose us?
Trusted learning partner
As the professional association for the NSW public sector, we have been providing public sector-focused learning and development services for more than 80 years. We ensure that our learning content and strategies reflect both the 70:20:10 model of learning and the common and unique aspects of working in the public sector.
Learning mapped to the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework
Our short courses, programs and qualifications are selected and developed based on evidence from the public sector, including the NSW Public Service Commission State of the Sector reports. We collaborate with the sector to ensure our course content specifically addresses the capabilities and behaviours from the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework.
Expert facilitators and learning providers
Our facilitators are discipline experts and have been engaged because of their expertise in the sector as well as their knowledge of contemporary learning strategies. All learning providers are selected through a rigorous process involving a panel of representatives from the NSW public sector.
Value for money
IPAA NSW is a not-for-profit professional association and is committed to providing learning and development opportunities that benefit the sector. We negotiate fair and cost effective pricing on the sectorās behalf.
Accessible learning curriculum
IPAA NSW offers more than 70 topics and courses across a range of learning modes. We use our digital learning platform to enhance classroom experiences, to deliver blended and virtual learning programs, and online self-paced programs.
Workplace learning
We specialise in bringing learners together so that learning continues beyond the classroom and into the workplace through structured experiences, online networking and peer learning.
In-house learning for your needs
IPAA NSW brings learning directly to your workplace through our customised in-house courses and programs. This agile, cost efficient and highly regarded solution enables you to design learning to achieve team, agency and cross-agency capability development. Our entire curriculum can be customised to meet your learning needs and delivered at a time or location of your choice.
Existing IPAA NSW courses can be amended and combined to develop a course appropriate to your requirements, or we can assist you to develop your own bespoke course. If your organisation has a specific capability framework, our IPAA NSW learning team can further tailor courses and learning experiences to meet it. We can also utilise technology to bring geographically dispersed learners together or to provide blended learning options.
