ACTIVITIES IN THE NORTH Geothermal Swimming and Bathing Swimming is a very popular activity all year round in Iceland. Most towns and villages in the north have outdoor and/or indoor swimming pools filled with water from natural hot springs. There are also natural bathing places in the north, such as the Hveravellir Nature Pool, the Mývatn Nature Baths and the crater Víti in Askja.
