The University of South Florida celebrates

Excellence in Research Administration at the 8th Annual TRAINÂŽ Awards August 3, 2017

A message from the Senior Vice President Each year, USF celebrates excellence in research administration by recognizing the significant contributions of research administrators throughout the USF System. Today, it is with great pride that we honor the accomplishments of all USF research administrators whose talents help make our institution one of the top research universities in the nation. As professionals in the field of research administration, we rely on your expertise at every stage of the research award life cycle. Excellence in research administration requires creative and ongoing collaboration between faculty and student researchers, administrative staff, business and academic partners, and the community. The result is an ever-stronger national research university that opens minds, creates knowledge, brings innovation into the marketplace and changes lives. You have a vital role in USF’s success as a global leader in research, innovation and economic development. With such a strong workforce of certified research administrators, USF is well positioned to achieve our strategic research goals for 2017-2021 in rankings, visibility, collaboration, and impact. We congratulate and thank you for all you do! Photo by Aimee Blodgett

CLOSING REMARKS 3

NATIONAL RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR DAY IS CELEBRATED ANNUALLY ON SEPTEMBER 25

“National Research Administrator Day is observed annually on September 25. This is a day to recognize the contributions made by administrators every day. Research administrators and managers serve an important role in supporting research. They assist the faculty and researchers, protect the institution or organization and assure sound stewardship of sponsored research dollars. Research administration is found in many types of organizations around the world. It’s in higher education from liberal arts colleges to research universities, health and medical institutions, research institutions, federal and both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Starting with a small number of individuals in the late 1940s until present day, with thousands of acknowledged professionals worldwide, research administrators and managers provide value and expertise to the global research enterprise.”

The University of South Florida offers a certification program for employees who serve as research administrators. The designation, Certified Research Administrator-USF (CRA-USF), identifies the certification with USF and is aligned with recognized academic and professional credentialing. The CRA-USF stands apart from other research administration certifications in that the curriculum is USF-centric, focusing on the business systems, processes, best practices, tools, resources and forms endorsed and used by the University of South Florida.

In addition to the CRA-USF credential, the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC), an outside organization, offers certificates in research administration. The following USF employees have a CRA, CPRA or CFRA through RACC:

KEITH ANDERSON DAVID DOYLE CARMEN MALOUF FLOREK KAREN HAUBENSTOCK DR. REBECCA MIRO LAURA PAPE REENA RATURI DR. KIMBERLY READ ANITA THOMPSON GRACE WANG
