Essa Academy National Careers Week

Thanks to Miss Millburn, National Careers Week has been in full swing this week.

Students at Essa Academy shared their voices, giving suggestions and thoughts on how our careers lessons can be improved.

This week we have been celebrating the strenuous efforts from our students.

We kick started the week with year 11 and year 10's rewards assembly. Well done to all the tremendous efforts from our remarkable students. We have some exciting rewards trips coming up.

The Bolton Schools’ Dance Festival So much effort, practice & hard work went into this piece of dance; they danced their hearts out to a sell out audience & absolutely smashed it.

Congratulations to Mr Lorenzen and Mr Farrington for completing the 4x4x48 challenge last weekend, where they ran 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.

What an incredible achievement in aid of a great cause.

This week was the finals for the science communication competition 2023!

The Essa Science teachers have listened to over 200 speeches, each individually created, practiced and performed by a Y9 student. A monumental effort from both staff and students culminated in the finals on Wednesday. Congratulations to all Y9 pupils, we really enjoyed listening to you.

A huge well done to all our finalists who had the rose to the occasion when they had to perform their piece in front of the whole year group. Each spoke with such confidence and brought such a flair to their performance.

You did outstandingly, and the science team are extremely proud of you!

Thank you to all Y9s for thoroughly engaging with the competition in lessons.

Year 10 have been working on some complex skills this week, deboning a chicken.

Year 7 took part in the best flipper challenge!

Cooking helps to develop a child's planning and time management skills.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Essa Primary Reception The Reception children have enjoyed creating art based on the artist Kandinsky.

The children drew their own circles using wax crayons and printed circles using different objects. All the children have explored colour mixing and created different secondary colours for their pieces of art.

Essa Primary Year 3 Year 3 have been using different methods to divide numbers. We used lolly sticks to work out division calculations with remainders.

We were so confident with this, we moved on to working out these calculations pictorially!

Essa Primary Year 5 Year 5 after exploring the artist Cai Guo-Qiang as inspiration we then created our own sculptures using everyday objects.
