BIOPHILIC DESIGN SOLAR EFFICIENCY CARBON NEGATIVE

ABOUT

Location -: San Francisco

The site is designed to solve the issues of fish breeding and to tackle the sea level rise in the Bay area.

The built-up spaces are designed with in the projected flood lines and to resist the sea level rise, the site is been bordered with minimum 100ft wide land of marshes.

The mixed use towers are designed to be carbon negative, with an effort to maximize the views and to be solar efficient

BIOPHILIC

DESIGN

ABOUT

Location -: Pune, India

Traveling to Mumbai has always been a challenge to catch international / domestic flights especially if it takes more than 4 hrs of road journey.

To solve this problem, we have proposed an international airport south of Pune city to cater the nearby cities, and to take off the air travel loads from Mumbai.

TAKEAWAYS

- Learning about passenger experience & stress points

- Considering aspects, creating positive environment

- Parametric design methods

TIME TAKEN FROM OTHER CITIES TO MUMBAI

- 140 million people annually

5-7 hrs of travel

Replicating the pattern for column & ceiling

Happy relaxed travelers spend 7% more money on average on retail...

The things that make a traveller relaxed is -:

and 10% more on duty free items

More incoming sunlight, more glazing

Biophilic interiors, Relaxation

The concessions are placed parallel to the movement of the passengers for maximum touch base areas between both of them

Amenity zone

Around the concourse

Pune city being an IT hub for India, we decided to provide conference & office rooms in the bridge, mixed with the concessions for a relaxed environment.

Causes boarding delays

The bridge is deliberately elevated to allow the planes to pass below it for faster flight schedules, while also giving views for the spaces on it

Concourse

Concourse Runway Runway

1.7x efficient Under the concourse

Connecting bridge

Walking distances < max 900 ft

+ +

1hr more at concessions is... around $7 more spent per passenger

Visual connectivity with their planes & runways

By reducing travel distances and having visual connectivity with their flights, they become more relaxed and tend to spend more time at concessions

The bridge is vertically connected with the air taxis on the concourse’s roof.

CHALLENGES

The challenge was propose a public library at New Bern while addressing the issues of projected flooding from Neuse river.

- To have minimum programs possible on ground floor

- To segregate entries of different use of spaces.

TAKEAWAYS

- New wall sections than that of the East

- Familiarize with NC bylaws

- Designing with new structural techniques

Due to flood projections, I decided to give minimum number of programs on the ground floor.

A sleek structure within the constraints, running along the length of 2 setbacks.

One my glazing were facing south side, I chamfered the facade such that it was tilting downwards

UNDERGRADUATE Thesis - Hyperloop terminal

Designed individually
16

Location -: Navi Mumbai, India

Existing conventional modes of transportation for people - rail, road, water, and air, tend to be slow for daily transport between Pune to Mumbai. Hyperloop is a new mode of transport that seeks to change this perspective by being fastest mode of transportation for people and goods.

Hyperloop

25 min travel time

154 km road travel

5-7 hrs of travel 1 way Pune

2019 - 75 million people annually

2026 - 140 million people annually

DESIGN CONCEPT

The shape of the band (around the structure) is derived from the infinity sign of the hyperloop

The band then on adding curves attains a fluid shape, and cuts the structure into 4 parts

The shape of the structure is determined by the infinity loop consisting of inner glass tube supported by outer golden wrought iron framework surrounding the entire structure.

Omkar 1973 is a residential tower that offers 480 apartments with balconies having views of the city and sea. There are 3 Towers- A, B & C scaling 76-storey, 77-storey and 65-storey respectively with views of the Arabian Sea.

These residential towers stand tall over -:

- 3 Basements

- 14 Parking Level Podiums with typical floor plate of around 100,000 sq. ft. accommodating 1550 cars

- 2 levels of mechanical floors

- 3 levels of penthouses on the top

The challenge for our team was adhering to a design, keeping in mind the wind pressure & solar performance.
