In 1898 and 1899 the Texas State Fair had an amusement called the Antebellum Negro Village in which there was a recreation of slave quaters and African Americans would do performances of singing and dancing. During the 1890s where was world wide at expositions and exhbitions what was called Human Zoos to exhibit the peoples that lived in the colonial possesions of the European imperial powers.
