Though Vidar was staying with us, there was something about the pub setting that made swapping stories more fun. Id enjoyedVidar’scompanyforcenturies,andtheabilitytosimplysitandreminiscewasoneofthebiggestreasonswhy Iwas ridingthe highofhope whenVidar andIheadedbackto the house thatafternoon. Themosteffectiveliesaretheonesfoundedinthetruth.
A century ago, I had no idea then that Vidar’s plan, Hel’s plan, would mutate to include torture. Brainwashing. Manipulation. Murder. And it never occurred to me that after centuries of what I thought was friendship, Vidar had been manipulatingmyemotions
