A Conversation with Crissy Wiseman NP-C, CANS

For experienced injector Crissy Wiseman, beauty is as much about confidence as it is about contour. With more than 25 years of clinical experience and a mastery of facial anatomy, the founder of Wise Aesthetics in Carmel brings both science and artistry to her work. Her signature approach: subtle, balanced enhancements that celebrate each client’s natural expression.

Q: You’ve earned a reputation as one of the region’s leading injectors. What’s most exciting to you right now in the world of aesthetic medicine and injectables?

A: What excites me most is that the broader aesthetic world is finally catching up to what I’ve believed from the very beginning: less is more. I love seeing how much more personalized and precise injectables have become. We now have access to products and techniques that let us fine-

tune results, whether we’re addressing volume loss, balancing facial symmetry or creating subtle contour. I’m also really excited about biostimulators and collagen-building treatments that improve the skin from the inside out. Instead of just filling a space, we’re helping the skin behave more youthfully over time. That fits my personal philosophy perfectly— subtle, steady and smart results that age gracefully with you.

Q: For someone considering injectables

for the first time, what’s the best way to start?

A: The best place to start is not with a syringe—it’s with a conversation. Many first-time clients think they need a specific treatment, but my role is to evaluate facial balance, movement and skin health to guide them toward what will look most natural. I always recommend starting conservatively. We can build over time as trust and confidence grow. We also discuss a long-term plan rather than a oneoff quick fix. You do not have to do everything at

once. My job is to make first-timers feel safe, informed and in control, not pressured.

Q: You’re known for your meticulous eye for symmetry and natural beauty. How do you define “the art” of injectables, and what makes a result look truly effortless?

A: To me, the “art” of injectables is the balance between anatomy, proportion and restraint. The best work is undetectable—it just looks like the client on their best day. I pay close attention to light, shadow and expression so results move naturally with the face. My goal is for friends to notice you look refreshed, not “done.”

Q: As we head into the new year, what treatments or routines do you recommend for clients who want to refresh their look and feel their best in 2026?

A: The new year is a great time to focus on prevention and skin health, and I like to think

in terms of a year-long glow-up plan rather than a single treatment. I love pairing subtle injectable touch-ups with treatments that improve texture, tone and collagen. A consistent skincare routine, light resurfacing or microneedling can make a big difference—and create a beautiful foundation for anything we do with injectables. If someone wants to feel their absolute best in 2026, we build a plan that lines treatments up with their calendar, big events, travel and recovery time, so everything feels intentional and manageable.

Q: Injectables may be your specialty, but Wise Aesthetics offers more than that. What other treatments or services do clients love for skin health and confidence?

A: Injectables are just one piece of the puzzle. At Wise Aesthetics, we take a holistic approach to skin and confidence. Some of our most loved non-injectable options include laser and light therapies for pigment and redness, RF microneedling

for deeper collagen remodeling, and advanced facials that cleanse, exfoliate and infuse active serums. I consider traditional microneedling a core treatment, as it supports collagen, refines pores, softens scarring and enhances overall skin quality. When paired with medical-grade skincare and a consistent maintenance plan, it’s one of the best ways to keep skin smooth, resilient and youthful. Everything is designed to work together to build healthier, more confident skin over time.

To learn more and schedule a consultation, visit Wise Aesthetics at 2325 Pointe Parkway in Carmel or online at wiseaesthetics.com. Follow @wiseaestheticscarmel on Instagram for the latest news.

Designer Sallie Lord, founder of GreyHunt Interiors, brings her signature blend of luxury and collaboration to the Indiana Design Center.

PhotograPhy By Gabrielle Noël

collAborAtive by design

When interior designer Sallie Lord moved to Carmel from Northern Virginia, she wasn’t looking to start over—she was eager to build connections. With a heart for collaboration and a career spanning more than two decades, she’s turning her national firm, GreyHunt Interiors, into a bridge between creative worlds—one conversation, one partnership, and one deeply personal home at a time.

(promotional content)

The hum of conversation drifts through the new GreyHunt Interiors studio on the main floor of the Indiana Design Center. Swatches of boucle and brushed velvet spill across a presentation table, sunlight filters through, and Sallie Lord moves easily through the space— half designer, half conductor. It’s a workday that looks a lot like her design philosophy: layered, alive, and grounded in collaboration. “I’ve never been the new kid before,” she says with a laugh, recalling her move to Carmel two-and-a-half years ago. “So I came in on fire—doing jumping jacks to be seen and to meet people.” That spark of energy has since caught on.

Lord’s journey began in Northern Virginia, where she founded GreyHunt Interiors in 2009, naming the firm after her sons, Greyson and Hunter. A classically trained designer with a B.A. from Marymount University, she quickly rose to the top of the D.C. design scene, earning Home & Design Magazine’s Hot Talent award and multiple Best of Virginia recognitions. But when love came calling from the Midwest, she followed.

She met her husband, Judd, on a design collaboration in New York City. Years of long-distance followed while she raised her boys and ran her thriving firm. When her eldest enrolled at Purdue, she made the leap. “It was the right time,” she says. “And the design community here has been incredibly welcoming. There’s so much happening—new builds, remodels, and designers who genuinely support each other. It’s an exciting place to grow.”

That growth now includes a move from a small upstairs studio to a larger, groundfloor space, a shift she describes as both practical and symbolic. “Our little studio upstairs was adorable, but it just couldn’t hold the scale of what we do,” Sallie explains. “This move downstairs lets us create the same immersive experience for our Indiana clients that we’ve always offered in Virginia.”

Behind the glass walls, her team is busy mapping out color palettes, renderings and finish schedules for projects spanning two states. GreyHunt’s “two hubs, one standard” model allows her team, split between Indiana and Virginia, to collaborate seamlessly across locations. “We all work together on every project,” Sallie says. “Each person brings a different strength to the table, and that synergy is where the magic happens.”

That collaborative energy extends well beyond her internal team. When Sallie began renovating her own home in Cambridge at Geist, she used the opportunity to test local trades firsthand. “Before I ever introduced vendors to clients, I wanted to experience how they worked,” she shares. “It was important to me to build those relationships authentically.”

The result is a circle of trusted partners who now feel more like creative allies. She credits Caryn O’Sullivan at Drapery Street and Manny Navarrete at Priority Painting & Finishes, along with Ryan and Annie Page at Page Construction, the building team at Custom Living, and expert remodelers Optimal Living Solutions among her go-tos. “The great thing is, they all work together,”

Inside GreyHunt’s new main-floor studio, texture, color and comfort converge in a space designed to inspire both clients and creativity.

With studios in both Northern Virginia and Carmel, Sallie leads a national team united by one goal—creating homes that feel as good as they look.

she says. “That synergy makes every project smoother, and a lot more fun.”

It’s no surprise, then, that Lord chose to base her Indiana operations at the Indiana Design Center, where collaboration is woven into daily life. “You can’t be on an island when you’re new,” notes Sallie. “I wanted to be dropped right in the middle of everything, where I’d hear what’s happening, connect with other creatives, and be part of the conversation.”

That connection fuels the kind of design GreyHunt is known for: accessible luxury grounded in emotional intelligence. “How you want to feel at home is everything,” Sallie explains. “Some clients crave energy and color, others need calm and quiet. Our job is to translate those feelings into design, because a home should look beautiful, but it should also support your best life.”

From full-scale renovations to roomby-room transformations, her team approaches each project as a portrait of its inhabitants. “Anyone can buy beautiful furniture,” she says, explaining that custom design understands that your reading chair needs the afternoon light just right or that your kitchen should flow exactly the way you cook. That’s the level of personal detail Sallie and her team aim for.

Balancing elegance with livability is always the goal. Inside her Carmel studio, presentation trays reveal those same layers: performance fabrics for families with kids and pets, custom millwork samples beside contemporary hardware, and lighting plans that shift from morning brightness to evening calm. “Designing

for real life,” she says, “means considering how your home evolves with you. We want our designs to live beautifully for years, not just look good in photos.”

Her personal touch remains at the heart of it all. “My objective is to make a space that calls to the homeowner, that makes them want to live in that room,” she says. What matters most to her, though, is not the finished photos but the way clients feel once the project is complete: proud of their homes, at peace in their surroundings, and newly empowered by how functional their spaces have become. For Sallie, each project is ultimately an opportunity to uplift people.

As GreyHunt Interiors settles into its new Carmel home, Sallie is already looking ahead to renovation projects and new builder collaborations on the calendar in 2026. She says, “At the end of the day, we’re not just designing homes. We’re designing better ways to live.”

Visit GreyHunt Interiors, now open on the main floor of the Indiana Design Center at 200 S. Rangeline Road in Carmel. For more information visit greyhuntinteriors.com and follow @greyhuntinteriors on Instagram.

Apicio AwAits

Apicio Ristorante & Enoteca opened this month in Zionsville, marking Chef Emilio Cento’s return to the heart of hospitality.

(promotional content)

For longtime fans of Chef Emilio Cento, dining at his new Zionsville restaurant feels a bit like coming home. After years spent shaping the local culinary landscape, Cento returns to what he loves most— being in the kitchen, cooking for familiar faces, and creating experiences that celebrate connection. Several years in the making, Cento is excited to be back in the kitchen, to see his old customers who’ve become like friends and to meet new ones.

At Apicio Ristorante & Enoteca, Cento brings

together more than three decades of culinary experience in what may be his most personal creation yet. Named for Marcus Gavius Apicius (the legendary Roman gourmand whose love of food and wine inspired centuries of culinary tradition), Apicio embodies the chef’s belief that “Chi mangia bene, vive bene”— those who eat well, live well.

True to that philosophy, Apicius is more than a restaurant. It’s a gathering place, designed with the same thoughtful care Cento gives to his food.

Handcrafted pasta and refined Italian classics share the stage with an atmosphere that encourages conversation. “It’s all about connection,” Cento explains. “Apicius was famous for his large gatherings where food, wine, ambiance, and company were all equally important—that’s what we wanted to recreate.”

The menu is both sophisticated and soulful, highlighting Cento’s signature approach to authentic Italian cuisine made with the finest ingredients. The wine program, however,

Apicio embodies Chef Cento's belief that chi mangia bene, vive bene - those who eat well, live well.

takes center stage in a particularly innovative way. Apicio features the Napa Technology WineStation®, an advanced preservation system that allows for a remarkable selection of wines by the glass, including bottles typically reserved as full bottles only, meaning guests can enjoy more variety for an elevated dining experience.

With over 90 wines and a beverage program led by General Manager Nicola Gabriele—a Level One Sommelier— and Beverage Director Corey Hamilton, Apicio’s Enoteca, or wine bar, offers an artful balance of tradition and innovation. Hamilton, who previously worked with Cento and happens to hold a degree in archaeology, brings a creative and cultural spin to the restaurant’s cocktail menu, which includes both signature drinks and a thoughtful selection of mocktails.

As the finishing touches come together, Cento is eager to welcome guests into this next chapter of his career—a celebration of good food, good wine

and good company. In the heart of Zionsville, Apicio Ristorante & Enoteca invites everyone to gather, connect and live well.

For those seeking something truly rare, Apicio offers an exclusive Black Card membership, limited to just five patrons, that promises unique privileges and private

experiences. Email nicola@apicioindy.com for details.

Apicio Ristorante & Enoteca is now open at 3311 South US 421 in Zionsville. For more information, menus and reservations, visit apicioindy.com and follow @apicioindy on Instagram.

STONE & SUBSTANCE

From sculpted stone to striking tile, these five focal points reveal how material and craftsmanship shape the soul of a home.

Every home has its defining moments—the places where design meets emotion and materials speak for themselves. At Victory Surfaces, those moments are shaped in marble, quartzite, limestone and terrazzo, crafted with precision by artisans who understand that the right surface doesn’t just complete a space—it transforms it. From the warmth of a reimagined fireplace to the luster of backlit stone, these five focal points demonstrate the power of natural materials to create harmony, texture and light throughout the home.

(promotional content)

The Fireplace

A stunning fireplace can be the heart of a home, anchoring gatherings and quiet evenings alike. Todd Ketchum, president at Victory Surfaces, believes this architectural feature deserves as much attention as any kitchen or bath. “You can change the façade of your fireplace without doing a lot of other tedious work like electrical or plumbing that come with larger remodels,” he says. Porcelain slabs—thin, seamless and stonelike—lend themselves beautifully to tall, modern statements. Yet some of the most memorable designs come from layering materials like carved limestone, natural stone, or even concrete, for a tactile, one-of-akind finish.

The Shower

In a sanctuary-like bathroom, texture takes center stage. Here, hexagonal tiles create movement and depth, catching light across their faceted surfaces. The artistry of installation ensures both precision and pattern flow—key to elevating what might otherwise be a utilitarian space into one that feels luxurious and restorative.

The Walls

The rich dimension of stacked stone brings an earthy sophistication to a private retreat. Soft lighting grazes across the stone’s surface, highlighting its natural variation and craftsmanship. The effect is cool and tactile. It’s grounded, yet undeniably inviting. It’s the kind of materiality that feels architectural and organic at once.

The Kitchen

Where form meets function, marble always endures. In this kitchen, sweeping veins and natural striations serve as both art and backdrop, pairing effortlessly with warm wood tones and tailored cabinetry. The result is a space that balances modern restraint with timeless elegance—proof that stone, when chosen thoughtfully, can define a home’s entire aesthetic.

The Vanity

Nothing captures drama quite like a bold slab of stone rising from vanity to ceiling. The interplay of color and veining turns this bathroom into a showpiece, complemented by streamlined fixtures and subtle contrast. It’s a study in confidence and restraint, and an example of how natural materials command attention without shouting.

From statement fireplaces to serene showers, Victory Surfaces helps homeowners and designers achieve exceptional detail through craftsmanship, innovation and design collaboration. Visit victorysurfaces. com or stop by the showroom at 5720 Kopetsky Drive, Suite H, Indianapolis, to explore stone and terrazzo surfaces that redefine what’s possible in your home.

Luxe LAyers

A celebration of design and connection at the Indiana Design Center

The Indiana Design Center was abuzz with creative energy in November as designers, artisans and design enthusiasts gathered for Luxe Layers: A Celebration and Book Signing with Kendall Wilkinson in two special events. Acclaimed San Francisco designer Kendall Wilkinson (known for her timeless, layered interiors and warm, approachable style) gathered first for a trade event hosted in partnership with Drapery Street, then for a ticketed public event the following evening hosted by the Indiana Design Center, both featuring conversation and connection that beautifully bridged coasts and communities.

(promotional content)

At the evening event, opening in the IDC’s Grand Hall, guests mingled over wine and hors d’oeuvres before settling in for a lively chat between Wilkinson and IndyNOW’s Ryan Ahlwardt. Wilkinson shared insights from her latest book, Beauty All Around, released in May 2025, which celebrates the emotional core of design and the meaningful layers that make a home personal. “Beautiful work comes from deep listening,” she explained. “It’s about understanding the emotional undercurrent of a home and allowing rooms to evolve naturally.”

For Wilkinson, the IDC was the ideal venue.

“It truly functions as a heartbeat for the region’s design community,” she said. “The enthusiasm, curiosity and connection in the room made the evening feel incredibly special.” That connection was echoed by event partner and Drapery Street owner Caryn O’Sullivan, whose showroom hosted a morning brunch in Wilkinson’s honor. “It was inspiring to see how Kendall’s philosophy resonated so deeply with local designers,” O’Sullivan

noted. “Her visit reminded us that great design is about relationships between people, materials and moments.”

Designers and guests alike echoed that sentiment. “The book signing was a highlight not just for me but for the entire design community,” said Sallie Lord of GreyHunt Interiors, who helped orchestrate the event. “Kendall shared so much knowledge, warmth and genuine care that we all felt like we were sitting in a one-on-one conversation with her. The IDC team made everything beautiful, from the flowers to the tablescapes, and the whole day left me so inspired.”

Following the talk, attendees explored IDC showrooms, where tabletop displays by local designers showcased the art of layered living, a fitting complement to Wilkinson’s ethos. Conversations flowed easily, touching on design philosophies, client stories, and the shared pursuit of creating spaces that feel deeply human.

Reflecting on the evening, Wilkinson said she was

struck by how thoughtful, collaborative and curious the community is.

“There’s a groundedness here—a balance between craftsmanship, comfort and experimentation,” she says, adding that she left Carmel inspired by the warmth and talent in the room.

The event proved more than a celebration of a book. It was a testament to the creative spirit thriving in Indiana’s design scene. Through partnerships between local leaders like Drapery Street, the Indiana Design Center, and national voices like Kendall Wilkinson, the region continues to affirm its place as a vibrant, connected hub for design excellence.

Visit the Indiana Design Center at 200 South Rangeline Road in Carmel, Indiana, to explore showrooms and connect with top local design professionals. To stay informed about upcoming design-minded events, find them online at indianadesigncenter. com and follow @indianadesigncenter on Instagram.
