I ¡Te conjuro, príncipe de la belleza!, ¡mi preciosa gacela!: aleja los pesares esta noche mía; con tu compañía reúne un tropel de delicias para el pobre corazón doliente. Me doy en prenda por una gacela que por las noches canta con liras y arpas, la que al ver la copa en mi mano quiere que beba de sus labios la sangre de uvas, mientras la luna como una yod está escrita con tintas de oro en el manto de la aurora. ¡Te conjuro, príncipe de la belleza! ¡Te conjuro, mi preciosa gacela! IV Las nuevas dichosas han llegado: La primavera está de regreso con sus esplendores. Si te dan oro, gástalo en rosas y vino. De nuevo el pájaro se hace oír. El ruiseñor se queja y dice: ¿Quién hará que caiga el velo de la rosa? Por encima del seto del jardín flota el velo violeta de la tarde. ¡Cuántas maravillas, amigo mío, en el camino del amor! Quien no ha besado nunca tus mejillas no conoce los frutos del Paraíso. No sufras más que la belleza volverá con su gracia y la celda de la tristeza se convertirá en un jardín cercado lleno de rosas. Datos sobre el compositor: Compositor y director de orquesta argentino, Eduardo Alonso-Crespo (Tucumán, Argentina, 1956) es autor de seis sinfonías, diecisiete conciertos, dos óperas, dos ballets, música de cámara y música coral - además de otras obras orquestales - , producción que le hizo acreedor de un total de dieciocho premios y distinciones nacionales e internacionales. Su música ha sido interpretada por orquestas y ensambles de Francia, Italia, España, Holanda, Portugal, Polonia, Ucrania, Alemania, Finlandia, el Reino Unido, China, Taiwán, Indonesia, Japón, Israel, Canadá, EE.UU., México, Venezuela, Colombia, Perú, Chile, Paraguay, Brasil, Bolivia y Argentina, y en ámbitos tan importantes como el Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, el Carnegie Recital Hall de Nueva York, la Iglesia de La Madelaine de París, la Gran Sala De Doelen de Rotterdam, el Teatro Teresa Carreño de Caracas, el Teatro La Fenice de Venecia y el Palacio Real de Queluz en Lisboa. Eduardo Alonso-Crespo se graduó en la Escuela de Artes Musicales de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, obteniendo en esa misma universidad el título de ingeniero civil. Mediante una beca Fulbright de postgrado estudió en la Universidad de Carnegie Mellon en los Estados Unidos, donde recibió el grado de Master en Dirección Orquestal y Coral, luego de perfeccionarse con los maestros Lukas Foss, Leonardo Balada y Samuel Jones. Como docente se desempeñó en la Universidad de Carnegie Mellon en los EE.UU. durante dieciocho años. Como director de orquesta se desempeñó durante doce años como Director Titular de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Tucumán en la Argentina, desempeñándose simultáneamente como Director Musical del Carnegie Mellon Contemporary Ensemble en los EE.UU. y manteniendo una intensa actividad como director invitado en la Argentina y en el extranjero. Fue artífice fundamental en la creación de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Salta en Argentina, organismo en el que se desempeñó como Director Invitado Principal y Compositor Residente. Sus presentaciones como director invitado incluyen organismos sinfónicos de los Estados Unidos, Francia, Portugal, México, Chile y Argentina. En su país de origen ha actuado al frente de las Orquestas Sinfónicas de Córdoba, Rosario, Entre Ríos, Tucumán, San Juan, Mendoza y Salta, así como de la Orquesta Nacional de Música Argentina y de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires, con la que debutó en el Teatro Colón dirigiendo una aclamada versión de la Cuarta Sinfonía de Gustav Mahler en 1998. Entre sus actividades más recientes como director se destaca la Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, España, que Alonso-Crespo dirigió para el sello discográfico británico Naxos. Alonso-Crespo recibió un total de dieciocho premios y distinciones nacionales e internacionales como compositor, incluyendo el Premio Alejandro Shaw de la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes, el Primer Premio de la Fundación Promúsica y la Cancillería Argentina, el Primer y Segundo Premios simultáneamente del Concurso Luis Gianneo, el Premio Internacional Cristóbal Colón de música sinfónica, el Premio del Régimen de Encargos de Obras Sinfónicas del Fondo Nacional de las Artes, el Segundo Premio de la Fundación San Telmo, el Segundo Premio de Composición de la Universidad Nacional de la Plata, el Tercer Premio del Concurso Internacional Viotti-Valsesia, Italia, la Mención Honorífica de la Secretaría de Cultura de la Nación, el Premio Músico del Año (Salta, 1990), el Premio Iris Marga a la mejor música para teatro, la distinción de Ciudadano Destacado (Tucumán, 1998) y el Premio de Composición de Música Sinfónica de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Bahía Blanca . Notas de programa: La Tercera Sinfonía, subtitulada lírica, es la continuación de un cuerpo de obras basadas en el pensamiento esencialmente sinfónico, esto es, el de la composición entendida como expresión controlada por la forma. Las sinfonías primera y segunda se centraban respectivamente en sendos estudios de la expresión y de la danza; esta tercera parte se concentra en el canto lírico. El punto de partida fue el encargo del maestro Luis Gorelik de componer una obra para voz y orquesta utilizando poemas de las tres culturas monoteístas predominantes en la Argentina: la judía, la cristiana y la musulmana. Comencé entonces a explorar la infinidad de posibilidades que ofrecía un material en apariencia disímil. Surgió claramente lo que, visto en retrospectiva, resulta obvio: un tema recurrente y común a las tres culturas es el del amor. Más aún, me sorprendió la importante cantidad de poesía inspirada en el amor erótico o quasi erótico, aún proviniendo de una monja, como en el caso de Sor Juana, o de un estudioso del Corán, como Hafiz. El resultado fue la selección de tres textos, uno de Yehudá Ha-Leví (1070-1140), poeta judío oriundo de al-Ándalus, en la península ibérica, otro de Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (1651-1695), monja cristiana nativa de México, y el tercero de Shamsudinh Mohammad (circa 1320-1389), llamado Hafiz, poeta musulmán oriundo de Persia. Este material literario se ordenó tratando de proveer a la sinfonía de un arco dramático que confiriese unidad y coherencia al discurso. De ese modo, el primer texto (Yehudá Ha-Leví) convoca al amor desde la primera frase - ¡Te conjuro, príncipe de la belleza! sugiriendo y anticipando las promesas del deseo y de la pasión amorosa. El segundo texto (Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz) es un soneto sobre las dificultades con las que tropieza eventualmente el amor - celos, desinterés y falta de correspondencia - hasta desembocar en el dolor, como lo expresa el último verso del poema - mi corazón deshecho entre tus manos. Para el tercer autor se eligió un texto que expresa el consuelo y la posibilidad de concluir los sufrimientos amorosos ante la llegada de una nueva esperanza, como bien lo dice el primer verso - Las nuevas dichosas han llegado: la primavera está de regreso con sus esplendores - y el empleo de la anáfora No sufras más a lo largo del poema. La sinfonía queda así estructurada en tres movimientos vocales (primero, segundo y cuarto) con la interjección de un número puramente instrumental a modo de intermezzo (tercer movimiento). El material interválico y armónico de los movimientos está interconectado a lo largo de la obra dándole así el carácter estrictamente sinfónico del título. De hecho, la célula principal está dictada por las primeras palabras del texto - Te conjuro - volcados en un intervalo de séptima mayor ascendente seguido de segunda menor también ascendente. Por último digamos que morfológicamente los cuatro movimientos corresponden a un allegro sonata (I.- Invocación), a un lied con carácter de endecha (II.- Soneto), un scherzo con trio (III.- Intermedio) y un finale resuelto a manera de recitado y aria (IV.- Recitativo y aria), una forma tomada directamente de la lírica. El scherzo, dicho sea de paso, se presenta como una composición ligera y vivaz, a modo de retrato de la alegría - en el sentido estricto del término - que siempre acompaña el devenir del amor.
