DEADLY CODERS Creating accessible pathways for Indigenous engineers, inventors, visionaries and innovators. THE INITIATIVE
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Delivered by Junior Engineers, Deadly Coders partners with schools, universities, government and corporations to provide fully subsidised coding and robotics learning experiences for Indigenous youth. Opening a space for creativity, exploration and learning for Indigenous communities, to "close the gap" in STEAM industries.
The Goal Closing the Gap by providing fully funded, accessible and exciting coding & STEAM programs to Indigenous students.
The program will provide an opportunity for students to collaborate with each other and instructors, engage in hands on coding gamification, connect with heritage by speaking to local elders and mentors from community and be inspired to continue learning from home and beyond.
The Opportunity Early positive experiences with STEAM are a powerful influence, leading students to confidently choose STEAM fields in academia & career.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES The program curriculum is specifically curated to impart fundamental 21st century skills to set Indigenous students up for success in STEAM related fields and to help build an inclusive and diverse future STEAM workforce. By leveling the playing field through the delivery of engaging and educational programs in digital technologies, Deadly Coders aims to provide opportunities that are not typically afforded to Indigenous participation in STEAM.
The Inspiration Community figures and role models connect with the students, inspiring them to follow in the footsteps of the First Engineers on this land.
