VESSEL WALKTHROUGH Island Packet Yachts have long been noted for their exceptionally livable designs. There is an abundent amount of interior stowage available in the salon, as elsewhere in the yacht, due in large part to the generous tankage being centrally located below the cabin sole. This feature also keeps these considerable weights low and close to the center of the yacht to maximize stability and minimize trim changes. All sole surfaces in the galley, companionway, and navigation areas are molded in a slip-resistant diamond pattern for improved safety and ease of maintenance in these frequently used areas. Beautiful handcrafted and custom cabinetry and joinery work is found throughout the yacht. Comfortable, thick cushions with designer fabric on the bunks, with upgraded UltraLeather in the main saloon, well placed light fixtures and handrails, numerous opening ports, dorade deck vents and hatches, and a durable and easily maintained overhead and hull surfaces make the salon and the entire interior attractive, comfortable and practical.

MASTER STATEROOM: The owner's suite is forward and is a true delight with the entire beam of the yacht utilized for a grand and inviting retreat. There is a large island berth which is offset from the hull providing easy access from both sides. The aft section of the berth-top, mounted on gas support struts, lifts to reveal a large storage area ideal for those bulky items like blankets. Drawers, cabinets, storage bins and a deep hanging locker provide ample space for personal gear. A seat to port adds further convenience. Two overhead hatches, a dorade vent and several opening ports will keep this area bright and well ventilated. Overhead padeyes and hooks on the bulkhead provide convenient spots for hanging fishing poles and longer clothing items.

MASTER HEAD: Forward is a private ensuite head with a large separate stall shower. The shower area is fitted with a folding acrylic door and built -in seat. In the head there is a deep S/S sink with vanity, marine toilet, several lockers and drawers and excellent ventilation with an overhead hatch and opening portlights.

SALON: As you can see in the pictures, the salon is a warm and inviting area to lounge or entertain. With the custom upholstery, brass lamps and attention to detail you will want to spend a lot of time aboard. The hinged table is secured out of the way against the bulkhead. Behind this is a very nice bottle and glass rack. The table is easily lowered to make either a small or a large dining area. When the table is fully opened this also provides a great project area. If you wish to have additional friends or family stay aboard, the starboard settee pulls out to provide a double berth. Behind and under both settees are an immense amount of storage areas.

Aft to starboard of the salon is the nav area with an electrically powered swing-out seat and large hinged chart table. See "Nav" section below for more details.

The galley is aft of the nav, immediately to the starboard side of the companionway. For more details on the galley see below.

AFT CABIN: Features a very large Pullman-style athwartship berth, a large cedar-lined hanging locker and a generous bureau with several compartments. Two opening ports and an overhead hatch bathe the area in natural light and provide excellent ventilation.

AFT HEAD: Entered from either the main salon or through a private door in the aft cabin, the aft head, with its folding teak shower seat, wraparound vanity, oval polished sink, teak framed mirror, and bulkhead mounted shower unit with a pull around curtain provide particularly nice facilities for guests and crew. Shower drains in both heads have an electric drain pump.

There is also a well insulated divided refrigerator/freezer with lots of room for additional food for those longer trips. HULL, DECK & EQUIPMENT UNDERBODY The FULL foil keel continues as the foundation of the Island Packet concept, and its design and construction provide a host of advantages to the cruising sailor: a moderate draft for access to a wider range of cruising grounds, low ballast placement for increased stability, superior protection for rudder and propeller, integral onepiece construction for maximum strength, and a highly effective airfoil shape for windward performance.

DESIGNER COMMENTS The new 420 defines the latest generation of Island Packet designs with virtually every aspect of this yacht representing a significant evolution from our earlier models in this size range. With ongoing advances in construction technology, equipment selection, manufacturing processes and quality control measures, this will be one of the most desirable and best built yachts Island Packet has ever offered.

The 420 hull incorporates a host of new design elements that further improve a concept that I believe offers the best combination of seakeeping, safety, stability and speed available to the cruising sailor. New bow and stern configurations combine to increase boat speed through a longer sailing waterline and reduced resistance in waves, while refinements to the keel and rudder foil sections will benefit upwind performance, reduce drag and enhance steering. The hull continues to be molded as a one piece (integral hull and keel) solid tri-axial fiberglass structure, utilizing our pressure-fed resin impregnation system, PolyClad2 gel below the waterline and DuraShield gel on the topsides. I think no one in the marine industry, power or sail, is molding better fiberglass parts than Island Packet.

The 420 deck design continues to offer all the key features long appreciated by Island Packet owners: recessed foredeck with bulwarks, anchor platform with two rollers (our exclusive SeaSafe patented design), full length stainless steel cabin top handrails, beautifully molded detail for hardware and a new and improved dodger/windshield mount, and Dorade vents now with stainless steel cowls and welded guards. The cockpit offers long, contoured seats with big lockers under push button latch seat hatches with gas support struts, an insulated beverage box and hand held shower, separate helm seat with backrest and premium rack and pinion pedestal mounted steering (with provision for auto pilot), molded stern rail seats and a central gate leading to a stern platform. changes convenient from the cockpit. Bins located at the forward end of both coamings have hinged tops and provide handy and neat storage for these lines. With the available option of a roller furling mainsail (now selected by the majority of our new owners), sailing has become easier and more enjoyable than ever. It’s a real pleasure to be able to quickly set, trim or stow the sails without leaving the cockpit.

While on the subject of the rig, the 420 has been created with a somewhat taller configuration to take advantage of the extra sail carrying ability of this design and to enhance both light air and upwind performance. I should also add that the contributions to performance and sail control from the Hoyt® staysail boom would be hard to overstate. This simple device has “turbo-charged” the staysail’s contribution to overall performance and makes the cutter rig better than ever. I believe Island Packet is the only manufacturer to offer this cutter design configuration, and it is a very big plus for the cruising couple. The 420 should have excellent qualities for cruising under all points of sail in a wide variety of conditions with a very manageable and versatile rig.

I think perhaps the most exciting aspect of the new 420 is the interior arrangement. The beam of over 14 feet and a lot of usable hull length have enabled me to create very spacious accommodations with all the amenities that I think our owners are looking for, along with lots of storage space and large tank capacities to meet the demands of extended cruising. This is going to be a great boat on which to spend a lot of time.

The owner’s quarters are located forward and include a private head compartment with stall shower. The stateroom introduces a new arrangement with a large double berth offset to starboard and angled away from the hull side to allow access from either side. The berth top is hinged and supported with gas struts and may be raised to access a generous storage bin underneath for blankets and the like. Additional drawers, bureaus, shelves, and a cedar lined hanging locker provide ample room for personal items. A dressing seat adds further convenience, and two deck hatches, a Dorade vent and several opening ports will keep this area bright and breezy, as are all other areas throughout the interior.

The adjoining head has a sink vanity with cabinet space over and under, “captain‘s-chair” seating for the toilet, and built-in medicine chest and linen drawers. The shower includes a molded seat and folding textured acrylic door that stows flat against the bulkhead when not in use. Space (and access) has been provided for owner/dealer installation of a bow thruster under the shower seat area. European owners are more inclined to make this installation, but I think it may be just a matter of time until it becomes common in the USA. We’ve been praised in the press for having some of “the best heads afloat” and I think this one will further that reputation.

The big forepeak is reached through a tall bulkhead door in the shower area. This area is unique in that it features our usual divided chain locker forward (prepared for windlass installation and chain control), plus a separate area immediately aft that will be handy for storage of items like fenders, extra anchors and rodes, etc., when underway.

The aft guest stateroom has a wide double berth, ample storage in a hanging locker and bureau, and private entrance to the aft head compartment. The aft head may also be accessed from the salon area, and includes a shower with curtained enclosure and folding seat over the toilet. The sink vanity has cabinet storage over and under and, as with the forward head, is finished in light colored Formica® laminates with varnished teak trim for an attractive, bright and practical finish. Shower drains in both heads have an electric drain pump discharging overboard, with sole drains configured to work at rest or under sail.

The main salon is notable for its overall spaciousness. Once again I’ve incorporated our long popular arrangement of full length facing settees, with the starboard L-shaped settee able to convert into a double with a pull-out extension. Our trademark folding dining table hinges from the bulkhead storage rack to provide for either a large serving/dining area or, when retracted, a completely open salon. Large storage areas are available under and behind both port and starboard settees, in cabinets outboard and above the settees and in a cedar lined hanging locker. Large capacity tanks for water, fuel and waste are located under the sole, keeping these considerable weights low and close to the center of the yacht to maximize stability, minimize trim changes and increase useful storage elsewhere.

The full size navigation table with swing-out seat, adjacent to the main salon, should please the most ardent navigator, and includes recessed master electrical distribution panels with numerous spare breakers and ample panel space for dealer/owner installed electronics. A storage tray is provided under the hinged tabletop, with a locker under and outboard of the table and a chart drawer under the settee immediately forward of the nav area.

The 420 galley combines the best features of all previous Island Packet models and is notable for its generous counter space, storage room and numerous convenience features. Our recently developed ice box installation with hinged and double gasketed push-button latch lid and super-insulated box is factory prepared for dealer/owner installation of refrigeration.

There’s plenty of room for block ice if preferred, or capacity for extra refrigerated storage on longer voyages. This installation was developed jointly with a professional refrigeration manufacturer and tested by an independent lab during its development. It has resulted in the best insulating qualities of any marine ice box design the lab has tested (and they’ve done

quite a few). Seaward’s recently introduced sealed-top LPG range is standard, along with a microwave oven (A/C operation only). Several deep storage drawers, a pull-out trash receptacle, dish rack with cutlery drawers, pot and pan bin, dry storage lockers and counter top cabinets should make one feel right at home. All sole surfaces in the galley, companionway and navigation areas are molded in a slip-resistant diamond pattern for improved safety and ease of maintenance in these frequently used areas. A teak grate in the sole covers a lift-out dust tray, access to the fuel and water tank fittings and the lighted bilge sump.

Build Quality The 420 is one of the most desirable and best built yachts Island Packet has ever offered. The hull incorporates a host of design elements that improve a concept that emphasizes seakeeping, safety, stability, and speed. The bow and stern configurations combine to increase boat speed through a longer sailing waterline and reduced resistance in waves, while refinements to the keel and rudder foil sections benefit upwind performance, reduce drag, and enhance steering. The hull continues to be molded as a one-piece (integral hull and keel) solid tri-axial fiberglass structure, utilizing Island Packet's pressure-fed resin impregnation system, PolyClad 2 gel below the waterline, and DuraShield gel on the topsides. The 420 deck design offers all the key features long appreciated by Island Packet owners: recessed foredeck with bulwarks, anchor platform with two rollers (the exclusive SeaSafe patented design), full-length stainless steel cabin top handrails, beautifully molded detail for hardware, an improved dodger - windshield mount, and Dorade vents with stainless steel cowls and welded guards.

The boat's chain plates are fixed to the hull with a system of double welds, embedded in fiberglass and reinforced with uni-directional glass and bi-axial glass run fan-like well down into the hull. It's a proven, time-tested Island Packet system.

Engine mounts, mast step (on the keel), 12-volt wiring system, and steering systems show the same attention to detail as the hull-deck joint and chain-plate systems.

Cockpit The cockpit has full-length contoured seats that accommodate a large crew or invite stretching out. A folding teak cockpit table, with nearby teak drink holder, provides a comfortable place for outdoor dining, and stows out of the way when not needed.

The helmsperson will enjoy excellent visibility. Salon The large, central living area is equally suited for social gatherings, off-watch retreats, or gourmet dining. Full-length, facing settees are incorporated, with the starboard L-shaped settee able to convert into a double berth with a pull-out extension. Island Packet's trademark folding dining table hinges from the bulkhead storage rack to provide for either a large serving dining area or, when retracted, a completely open salon. Large storage areas are available under and behind both port and starboard settees, in cabinets outboard, and above the settees, and in a cedar lined hanging locker. Large capacity tanks for water and fuel are located under the sole, keeping these considerable weights low and close to the center of the yacht to maximize stability and increase useful storage elsewhere. The full-size navigation table with hydraulic swing-out seat - adjacent to the main salon - should please the most ardent navigator, and includes recessed master electrical distribution panels.

A generous, wrap around counter provides ample work-space for food preparation while numerous drawers, lockers and laminate-lined cabinets offer abundant space for organized provisioning and galley-ware storage.

A 3-burner Princess propane stove with oven and separate microwave provide options for cooking. Dual stainless steel sinks are supplied by the pressurized water system with spray tap, as well as a hand pump. A slide-out trash receptacle is strategically located. The wellinsulated Frigoboat refrigerator and freezer features a lid that opens on a gas strut to reveal a divided, lighted interior. It includes a keel-cooler for maximum efficiency.

A Seagull water filter provides pure drinking water through a separate faucet. 110v and 12v power outlets are easily accessible.

Owner's Cabin The spacious owner's cabin is located forward and includes a private head compartment with stall shower. The stateroom has a large double berth offset to starboard and angled away from the hull side to allow access from either side. The berth top is hinged and supported with gas struts and may be raised to access a generous storage bin underneath for blankets and the like. Additional drawers, lockers, shelves, and a cedar lined hanging locker provide ample room for personal items. A dressing seat adds further convenience, and two deck hatches, a Dorade vent, and several opening ports will keep this area bright and breezy. Accommodations The Master Stateroom is forward with its ensuite Head at the bow. A separate shower stall is on starboard with the commode and sink across on port. The Head is well ventillated with 2 opening ports and an opening hatch. There is an access door to the anchor locker in the forward bulkhead, and the thruster motor is accessed under the shower seat The Master Stateroom follows aft with large Pullman Double Berth on starboard and angled away from the hull side so that you do not need to climb over your sleeping partner to get out of the berth. The foot of the berth lifts for blanket and sheet storage and has 2 additional drawers under . There is a cabinet with 5 shelves on starboard while on the port hull side there is a large hanging locker and a bureau.. There are 2 opening ports plus 2 opening hatches for wonderful ventilation.

The Saloon follows aft with facing settees and a bulkhead mounted table on starboard. With the table stored up against the bulkhead, the saloon becomes a very spacious living, relaxing and entertaining space. The settee under the table pulls out to make double berth. There is tremendous storage under & behiind both settees. Still more storage above in cabinets and shelves along the hull sides.

The big, hull facing Nav Station is on starboard aft of saloon with a large desk and an electric swing out chair. The Electrical Panel, Radios, Monitors & Repeaters are all within easy reach.

There is a chart holder under the desk.

The well large, well designed "U" shaped Galley follows aft on starboard. There are 6 opening ports and 2 opening hatches in the Saloon/Nav/Galley area. Again, every inch is used for storage and work space. Plus you get double sinks, separate Frigoboat refrig and freezer (with temp monitors and custom insulated covers for each), 3-burner propane stove/oven as well as nifty dinnerware and dry storage areas. Across on Port from the Galley and Nav Station is the comfortable Aft Head with privacy doors to both the main saloon and the aft cabin . An opening port and hatch keep the air moving.

The entire engine and drive train are very easy to get to with side doors, removable stairs/cover and easy-to-move cushions in the aft cabin. The 420 hull incorporates a host of design elements that improve a concept that emphasizes seakeeping, safety, stability, and speed. The bow and stern configurations combine to increase boat speed through a longer sailing waterline and reduced resistance in waves, while refinements to the keel and rudder foil sections benefit upwind performance, reduce drag, and enhance steering.

The hull continues to be molded as a one-piece (integral hull and keel) solid tri-axial fiberglass structure, utilizing Island Packet's pressure-fed resin impregnation system, PolyClad 2 gel below the waterline, and DuraShield gel on the topsides.

The 420 deck design offers all the key features long appreciated by Island Packet owners: recessed foredeck with bulwarks, anchor platform with two rollers (the exclusive SeaSafe patented design), full-length stainless steel cabin top handrails, beautifully molded detail for hardware, an improved dodger - windshield mount, and Dorade vents with stainless steel cowls and welded guards.

The cockpit offers long, contoured seats with big lockers under push-button latch seat hatches with gas support struts, an insulated beverage box, hand-held shower, separate helm seat with backrest and premium rack and pinion pedestal mounted steering (with provision for auto pilot), molded stern rail seats, and a central gate leading to a stern platform.

As always, sail control lines are led aft making sail trim or changes convenient from the cockpit. Bins located at the forward end of both coamings have hinged tops and provide handy and neat storage for these lines. With the available option of a roller furling mainsail, sailing has become easier and more enjoyable than ever.

It's a real pleasure to be able to quickly set, trim, or stow the sails without leaving the cockpit.

While on the subject of the rig, the Island Packet 420 has been created with a somewhat taller configuration to take advantage of her extra sail carrying ability and to enhance both light air and upwind performance.

The contributions to performance and sail control from the Hoyt staysail boom would be hard to overstate. This simple device has "turbo-charged" the staysail's contribution to overall performance and makes the cutter rig better than ever. The 420 should have excellent qualities for cruising under all points of sail in a wide variety of conditions with a very manageable and versatile rig.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Island Packet 420 is the interior arrangement. The beam of over 14 feet and a lot of usable hull length, have enabled Island Packet to create very spacious accommodations with all the amenities that owners are looking for, along with lots of storage space and large tank capacities to meet the demands of extended cruising.

The owner's quarters are located forward and include a private head compartment with stall shower. The stateroom introduces an arrangement with a large double berth offset to starboard and angled away from the hull side to allow access from either side. The berth top is hinged and supported with gas struts and may be raised to access a generous storage bin underneath for blankets and the like.

Additional drawers, bureaus, shelves, and a cedar lined hanging locker provide ample room for personal items. A dressing seat adds further convenience, and two deck hatches, a Dorade vent, and several opening ports will keep this area bright and breezy, as are all other areas throughout the interior. The adjoining head has a sink vanity with cabinet space over and under, "captain's-chair" seating for the toilet, and built-in medicine chest and linen drawers.

The shower includes a molded seat and folding textured acrylic door that stows flat against the bulkhead when not in use. The big forepeak is reached through a tall bulkhead door in the shower area. This area is unique in that it features Island Packet's usual divided chain locker forward (prepared for windlass installation and chain control), plus a separate area immediately aft that will be handy for storage of items like fenders, extra anchors, and rodes, etc. when underway.

The aft guest stateroom has a wide double berth, ample storage in a hanging locker and bureau, and private entrance to the aft head compartment. The aft head may also be accessed from the salon area, and includes a shower with curtained enclosure and folding seat over the toilet. The sink vanity has cabinet storage over and under and, as with the forward head, is finished in light colored Formica laminates with varnished teak trim for an attractive, bright, and practical finish. Shower drains in both heads have an electric drain pump discharging overboard, with sole drains configured to work at rest or under sail.

The main salon is notable for its overall spaciousness. Once again, the popular arrangement of full-length, facing settees is incorporated, with the starboard L-shaped settee able to convert into a double berth with a pull-out extension. Island Packet's trademark folding dining table hinges from the bulkhead storage rack to provide for either a large serving - dining area or, when retracted, a completely open salon.

Large storage areas are available under and behind both port and starboard settees, in cabinets outboard, and above the settees, and in a cedar lined hanging locker. Large capacity tanks for water, fuel, and waste are located under the sole, keeping these considerable weights low and close to the center of the yacht to maximize stability, minimize trim changes, and increase useful storage elsewhere.

The full-size navigation table with swing-out seat - adjacent to the main salon - should please the most ardent navigator, and includes recessed master electrical distribution panels, with numerous spare breakers and ample panel space for dealer - owner installed electronics. A

storage tray is provided under the hinged tabletop, with a locker under and outboard of the table, and a chart drawer under the settee immediately forward of the nav area.

The Island Packet 420 galley combines the best features of all previous Island Packet models and is notable for its generous counter space, storage room, and numerous convenience and meal preparation and cooking features. The large refrigerator/freezer is ample and easy to access.

Several deep storage drawers, a pull-out trash receptacle, dish rack with cutlery drawers, pot and pan bin, dry storage lockers, and counter top cabinets should make one feel right at home.

All sole surfaces in the galley, companionway, and navigation areas are molded in a slipresistant diamond pattern for improved safety and ease of maintenance in these frequently used areas. A teak grate in the sole covers a lift-out dust tray, as well as access to the fuel and water tank fittings and the lighted bilge sump.

VESSEL WALKTHROUGH The Island Packet 420 offers an interior design for the cruising sailor that is unsurpassed in comfort, safety and volume. She offers true livability and a level of privacy not usually found in 42 feet.

Starting forward is the private head adjoining the master stateroom featuring a sink vanity with cabinets below, a deep polished stainless steel sink, opening hatch, opening ports, medicine chest, plus several lockers and two deep drawers. The separate stall shower enclosure is fitted with a folding acrylic door and built in seat.

The owner?s stateroom extends the entire beam of the yacht and offers an inviting retreat. The island berth is offset from the hull allowing easy access from either side and the aft section of the bed lifts to reveal a huge storage area for blankets or clothing. Drawers, cabinets, storage bins and a deep hanging locker provide ample space for personal gear. Two overhead hatches, a dorade vent and several opening ports will keep this area bright and well ventilated.

The main salon is next aft and features the trademark bulkhead mounted dining table which easily lowers to reveal a bottle and glass rack. An exceptional amount of interior storage is located under and outboard of the settees and, the starboard settee pulls out to convert to a double bed. I would mention that both of the salon settees have lee cloths for your safety at sea and again, this area of the boat is well ventilated and bright with numerous opening ports and overhead hatches.

Next aft to starboard is the navigation area with an electrically powered swing-out seat. There are recessed master electrical distribution panels and plenty of room for all the extras EVENTUALLY has to offer.

The galley is next aft and immediately to the starboard side of the companionway. This is a delightful area with wrap around counter space, lots of drawers, lockers and cabinets. An LPG stove and oven along with a microwave oven, deep sinks, good lighting, slide out trash receptacle, and divided refrigerated ice box and freezer all contribute to making this a safe and pleasant place to prepare meals. The floor has slip resistant non-skid molded sole which provides secure footing.

The aft head is located to port of the companionway and is accessed by either the main salon or through a private door in the aft cabin. The aft cabin which features a big Pullman-style athwartship bunk, cedar lined hanging locker and bureau is a totally private suite for guests. .

Interior Accommodations Four easy steps lead from the cockpit to the spacious salon and galley space. Handholds are well placed alongside the companionway stairs and moving forward into the living space.

The galley is immediately to starboard at the base of the companionway. The U-shaped counter arrangement provides excellent working space and a secure seagoing arrangement.

Teak fiddles surround the countertop. Forward, there is two bin stainless sink with pressure water faucet, wand and a hand pump faucet. Below there is a large locker with shelves and a drawer on the inboard side. Outboard, there is a large top loading storage locker that is well configured for pots, pans and other large items. A microwave is housed in a cabinet along the hull side. Aft is the propane three burner stove and oven, with a shelf outboard. A stainless crash bar runs along the front of the stove and provides an additional handhold. Aft of the stove is a large counter space with top loading fridge and freezer below. There is a sliding door locker and shelf outboard and drawer and locker storage below. Dish and silverware storage is aft of the counter.

Moving forward, the salon feels quite spacious for her 42 feet of length. There is a straight settee to port and L-shaped settee to starboard, upholstered in blue ultraleather. The starboard settee converts to a larger berth. Outboard of both settees there is storage behind the seatbacks and in lockers above along the side of the hull. The entertainment center is to port, with flat screen TV, and custom built in stereo receiver and CD changer/DVD/Blueray players.

The folding salon table mounted on the bulkhead is an Island Packet signature, deploying to allow dining with six ore more and stowing away when not in use. Six opening ports and three hatches provide excellent ventilation and a light feeling in the salon and galley space. There are shades for all opening ports.

The nav station is at the aft end of the salon to starboard. The large chart table faces outboard and lifts to reveal storage below. The navigator’s seat is on a electric swivel and is upholstered in the same blue ultraleather fabric as the salon cushions. There is a large locker below the nav table and a drawer for charts forward beneath the settee. Outboard of the table, there is a dash with the SSB radio, Raymarine multi repeater, VHF radio, tank and electrical monitors and inverter/charger control. The OceanPC display hinges to reveal access to the AC/DC distribution and breaker panel with voltmeters and ammeters. There is a chart spotlight and a red/white light above.

The aft cabin arrangement features an athwartships oriented berth and large floor space, giving this cabin a very nice feel. There is a shelf that runs along the head of the berth, and ample storage space in a cedar lined hanging locker and two smaller lockers for folded clothes. Two opening ports and a hatch provide some ventilation.

The aft head may be access either via a door from the aft stateroom or from the salon. The compartment is finished with a molded fiberglass shower pan, laminate bulkheads and minimal teak trim for easy maintenance. A shower is integral to the space, and the shower head is mounted on a variable height track on the aft bulkhead. There is a curtain that closes around the shower. The head is located outboard, with a teak grate seat that folds away under the counter. The sink is located forward in the counter. There are storage lockers below the counter and a sliding door locker outboard. A medium sized hatch and port provide some ventilation.

The master stateroom forward features a walk around berth and its own ensuite head with separate shower area. The berth is offset and slightly angled on the starboard side of the cabin. There are drawers below the berth and the lower end of the berth also hinges to provide very good access to a large storage area beneath. A shelf runs along the starboard side and there is a locker at the aft end of the cabin. There are additional large hanging lockers, cedar lined, to port. Forward of these lockers is a dressing settee and there is a small locker above.

The forward head, like the aft head, is finished with a molded fiberglass pan, laminate bulkheads and teak trim. This is a very well configured compartment with a separate shower area to starboard with fixed door. To port, there is a counter with sink and mirrored medicine cabinet. There is a large locker below. The head is forward, with another counter above and a shallow locker with shelves.

The sail/anchor locker is access from the forward head and provides additional storage space.

Hull and Deck Nautiboys’ hull is finished in the Island Packet signature tan gelcoat with a blue boot stripe. A rub rail with stainless steel striker plate protects the hull sides. A teak caprail tops a wide bulwark rising which rises towards the bow for secure footing. Another stainless steel protective molded is secured to the outer perimeter of the caprail to further protect the hull sides from pilings and other hazards. The scoop transom is one of the nicest features on this model. A fresh water shower is close at hand in the cockpit. A swim ladder folds up against the transom. The bow has a graceful overhang with a molded an integral, molded in anchor platform supporting double bow rollers. The bow platform is capped with varnished teak.

Stainless steel stanchions mounted well outboard atop the caprail support double vinyl coated lifelines. Boarding gates are located on each midships and on each side of the transom. The bow pulpit extends fully forward to the tip of the anchor platform. There is a stainless antenna pole and outboard motor lift at the stern, and stainless dinghy davits.

An offshore sailing yacht of this size just begs for a well-protected cockpit. Nautiboys’ deep cockpit is well protected by wide coamings and a dodger forward. All sail controls are led to the cockpit for safe offshore sail handling. Visibility is excellent from the cockpit. Seatback coamings are tall enough for good back support and wide enough for sitting and stepping on.

Vinyl covered mesh cockpit cushions are very comfortable and robustly fabricated. A back support is aft of the helm. The custom Island Packet engine panel is mounted to starboard of the helm in a cockpit coaming recess. A teak folding drop leaf cockpit table is mounted on the steering pedestal. There is a beautiful teak grate that covers the cockpit sole. Deep cockpit lockers to port and starboard allow ample storage space for sails, fenders and other gear.

The Island Packet 420’s side decks are wide and easy to move about. Non-skid is a slightly darker beige than the gloss waterways and trunk cabin sides. The molded-in diamond pattern is a nice balance of traction and comfort under bare foot while being easy to clean. Mooring cleats are mounted in the caprail. There is a large anchor locker accessed from the interior.

Anchor rode bins are on either side of this locker.

The raised trunk cabin is fitted with an array of fixed ports, opening ports, overhead hatches, and cowl vents with dorade boxes to provide visibility, natural light, and ventilation. Stainless steel handrails run along each side of the coachroof. A varnished teak eyebrow trim strip around the coachroof sides accents the coachroof profile. The 420 deck design offers all the key features long appreciated by Island Packet owners: recessed foredeck with bulwarks, anchor platform with two rollers (the exclusive SeaSafe patented design), full-length stainless steel cabin top handrails, beautifully molded detail for hardware, an improved dodger - windshield mount, and Dorade vents with stainless steel cowls and welded guards. The cockpit offers long, contoured seats with big lockers under push-button latch seat hatches with gas support struts, an insulated beverage box, hand-held shower, separate helm seat with backrest and premium rack and pinion pedestal mounted steering (with provision for auto pilot), molded stern rail seats, and a central gate leading to a stern platform. As always, sail control lines are led aft making sail trim or changes convenient from the cockpit. Bins located at the forward end of both coamings have hinged tops and provide handy and neat storage for these lines. With the available option of a roller furling mainsail, sailing has become easier and more enjoyable than ever. It's a real pleasure to be able to quickly set, trim, or stow the sails without leaving the cockpit. While on the subject of the rig, the Island Packet 420 has been created with a somewhat taller configuration to take advantage of her extra sail carrying ability and to enhance both light air and upwind performance. The contributions to performance and sail control from the Hoyt staysail boom would be hard to overstate. This simple device has "turbo-charged" the staysail's contribution to overall performance and makes the cutter rig better than ever. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Island Packet 420 is the interior arrangement. The beam of over 14 feet and a lot of usable hull length, have enabled Island Packet to create very spacious accommodations with all the amenities that owners are looking for, along with lots of storage space and large tank capacities to meet the demands of extended cruising. The owner's quarters are located forward and include a private head compartment with stall shower. The stateroom introduces an arrangement with a large double berth offset to starboard and angled away from the hull side to allow access from either side.

The adjoining head has a sink vanity with cabinet space over and under, "captain's-chair" seating for the toilet, and built-in medicine chest and linen drawers. The shower includes a molded seat and folding textured acrylic door that stows flat against the bulkhead when not in use. Space (and access) has been provided for owner - dealer installation of a bow thruster under the shower seat area. The big forepeak is reached through a tall bulkhead door in the shower area. This area is unique in that it features Island Packet's usual divided chain locker forward (prepared for windlass installation and chain control), plus a separate area immediately aft that will be handy for storage of items like fenders, extra anchors, and rodes, etc. when underway. The aft guest stateroom has a wide double berth, ample storage in a hanging locker and bureau, and private entrance to the aft head compartment. The aft head may also be accessed from the salon area, and includes a shower with curtained enclosure and folding seat over the toilet.

The sink vanity has cabinet storage over and under and, as with the forward head, is finished in light colored Formica laminates with varnished teak trim for an attractive, bright, and practical finish. Shower drains in both heads have an electric drain pump discharging overboard, with sole drains configured to work at rest or under sail. The main salon is notable for its overall spaciousness. Once again, the popular arrangement of full-length, facing settees is incorporated, with the starboard L-shaped settee able to convert into a double berth with a pull-out extension. Island Packet's trademark folding dining table hinges from the bulkhead storage rack to provide for either a large serving - dining area or, when retracted, a completely open salon. Large storage areas are available under and behind both port and starboard settees, in cabinets outboard, and above the settees, and in a cedar lined hanging locker.

Large capacity tanks for water, fuel, and waste are located under the sole, keeping these considerable weights low and close to the center of the yacht to maximize stability, minimize trim changes, and increase useful storage elsewhere. The full-size navigation table with swingout seat - adjacent to the main salon - should please the most ardent navigator, and includes recessed master electrical distribution panels, with numerous spare breakers and ample panel space for dealer - owner installed electronics. A storage tray is provided under the hinged tabletop, with a locker under and outboard of the table, and a chart drawer under the settee immediately forward of the nav area. The Island Packet 420 galley combines the best features of all previous Island Packet models and is notable for its generous counter space, storage room, and numerous convenience features. The recently developed ice box installation - with hinged and double gasketed push-button latch lid, and super-insulated box - is factory prepared for dealer - owner installation of refrigeration. There's plenty of room for block ice if preferred, or capacity for extra refrigerated storage on longer voyages. This installation was developed jointly with a professional refrigeration manufacturer, and tested by an independent lab during its development. It has resulted in the best insulating qualities of any marine ice box the lab has tested (and they've done quite a few). Seaward's recently introduced sealed-top LPG range is standard, along with a microwave oven (A-C operation only). The 420 deck design offers all the key features long appreciated by Island Packet owners: recessed foredeck with bulwarks, anchor platform with two rollers (the exclusive SeaSafe patented design), full-length stainless steel cabin top handrails, beautifully molded detail for hardware, an improved dodger - windshield mount, and Dorade vents with stainless steel cowls and welded guards. The cockpit offers long, contoured seats with big lockers under push-button latch seat hatches with gas support struts, an insulated beverage box, hand-held shower, separate helm seat with backrest and premium rack and pinion pedestal mounted steering (with provision for auto pilot), molded stern rail seats, and a central gate leading to a stern platform. As always, sail control lines are led aft making sail trim or changes convenient from the cockpit. Bins located at the forward end of both coamings have hinged tops and provide handy and neat storage for these lines. With the available option of a roller furling mainsail, sailing has become easier and more enjoyable than ever. It's a real pleasure to be able to quickly set, trim, or stow the sails without leaving the cockpit.

While on the subject of the rig, the Island Packet 420 has been created with a somewhat taller configuration to take advantage of her extra sail carrying ability and to enhance both light air and upwind performance. The contributions to performance and sail control from the Hoyt staysail boom would be hard to overstate. This simple device has "turbo-charged" the staysail's contribution to overall performance and makes the cutter rig better than ever. The

420 should have excellent qualities for cruising under all points of sail in a wide variety of conditions with a very manageable and versatile rig.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Island Packet 420 is the interior arrangement. The beam of over 14 feet and a lot of usable hull length have enabled Island Packet to create very spacious accommodations with all the amenities that owners are looking for, along with lots of storage space and large tank capacities to meet the demands of extended cruising. The owner's quarters are located forward and include a private head compartment with stall shower. The stateroom introduces an arrangement with a large double berth offset to starboard and angled away from the hull side to allow access from either side. The berth top is hinged and supported with gas struts and may be raised to access a generous storage bin underneath for blankets and the like. Additional drawers, bureaus, shelves, and a cedar lined hanging locker provide ample room for personal items. A dressing seat adds further convenience, and two deck hatches, a Dorade vent, and several opening ports will keep this area bright and breezy, as are all other areas throughout the interior.

The adjoining head has a sink vanity with cabinet space over and under, "captain's-chair" seating for the toilet, and built-in medicine chest and linen drawers. The shower includes a molded seat and folding textured acrylic door that stows flat against the bulkhead when not in use. Space (and access) has been provided for owner - dealer installation of a bow thruster under the shower seat area. The big forepeak is reached through a tall bulkhead door in the shower area. This area is unique in that it features Island Packet's usual divided chain locker forward (prepared for windlass installation and chain control), plus a separate area immediately aft that will be handy for storage of items like fenders, extra anchors, and rodes, etc. when underway.

The aft guest stateroom has a wide double berth, ample storage in a hanging locker and bureau, and private entrance to the aft head compartment. The aft head may also be accessed from the salon area, and includes a shower with curtained enclosure and folding seat over the toilet. The sink vanity has cabinet storage over and under and, as with the forward head, is finished in light colored Formica laminates with varnished teak trim for an attractive, bright, and practical finish. Shower drains in both heads have an electric drain pump discharging overboard, with sole drains configured to work at rest or under sail.

The main salon is notable for its overall spaciousness. Once again, the popular arrangement of full-length, facing settees is incorporated, with the starboard L-shaped settee able to convert into a double berth with a pull-out extension. Island Packet's trademark folding dining table hinges from the bulkhead storage rack to provide for either a large serving - dining area or, when retracted, a completely open salon. Large storage areas are available under and behind both port and starboard settees, in cabinets outboard, and above the settees, and in a cedar lined hanging locker. Large capacity tanks for water, fuel, and waste are located under the

sole, keeping these considerable weights low and close to the center of the yacht to maximize stability, minimize trim changes, and increase useful storage elsewhere.

The full-size navigation table with swing-out seat - adjacent to the main salon - should please the most ardent navigator, and includes recessed master electrical distribution panels, with numerous spare breakers and ample panel space for dealer - owner installed electronics. A storage tray is provided under the hinged tabletop, with a locker under and outboard of the table, and a chart drawer under the settee immediately forward of the nav area.

The Island Packet 420 galley combines the best features of all previous Island Packet models and is notable for its generous counter space, storage room, and numerous convenience features. The recently developed ice box installation - with hinged and double gasketed pushbutton latch lid, and super-insulated box - is factory prepared for dealer - owner installation of refrigeration. There's plenty of room for block ice if preferred, or capacity for extra refrigerated storage on longer voyages. This installation was developed jointly with a professional refrigeration manufacturer, and tested by an independent lab during its development. It has resulted in the best insulating qualities of any marine ice box the lab has tested (and they've done quite a few). Seaward's recently introduced sealed-top LPG range is standard, along with a microwave oven (A-C operation only). Several deep storage drawers, a pull-out trash receptacle, dish rack with cutlery drawers, pot and pan bin, dry storage lockers, and counter top cabinets should make one feel right at home. All sole surfaces in the galley, companionway, and navigation areas are molded in a slip-resistant diamond pattern for improved safety and ease of maintenance in these frequently used areas. A teak grate in the sole covers a lift-out dust tray, as well as access to the fuel and water tank fittings and the lighted bilge sump.

Accommodations An innovative blend of live aboard comfort and practical cruising features is evidenced throughout this Island Packet 420, delivering the best accommodations of any yacht in its size range.

Starting forward is a large anchor locker with interior access through a tall door in the forward head.

The forward head features a very nice separate shower stall with acrylic door, a deep S/S sink with vanity, marine toilet, several lockers and drawers and excellent ventilation with an overhead hatch and opening port lights.

The forward owner's suite is a true delight with the entire beam of the yacht utilized for a grand and inviting retreat. The large island berth is offset from the hull providing easy access from both sides. Drawers, cabinets, storage bins and a deep hanging locker provide ample storage Including extra storage under the berth.

Next aft is the main salon featuring Island Packet's signature bulkhead mounted fold-up table with integral wine & glass storage behind. The settee cushions are covered in Ultra Leather and are in very good condition. The starboard settee pulls out to provide a double berth. There is ample storage her too in drawer and both behind and under the settee cushions.

Next aft to starboard is the navigation station with an electrically powered swing-out seat,large hinged chart table, and complete electrical panel.

The galley, immediately to the starboard side of the companionway, features double S/S sinks, a 3-burner propane stove with oven, generous wrap around Corian counter space, and a large Keel Cooled Refrigerator and Freezer. This galley layout features an abundance of storage space in the form of drawers, cabinets, and cubbies including teak dish racks.

To port is the aft head with entry from the salon or aft cabin. The aft cabin features a very large Pullman-style berth, large cedar-lined hanging locker, dressing seat, and numerous drawers and bins. All hatches and ports have custom teak-frames.
