KALORAMA ART + REC CENTER

The name Kalorama originates from a Greek Neologism that stands for ‘fine view’. The proposed placement of this recreation center on the site, allows the inhabitants of the building to take advantage of the picturesque views of the surrounding Kalorama area. The aim of this building design is to highlight the connection between the interior and exterior to provide inspiration to those that use the recreational center.

The District of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department builds and maintains neighborhood parks with recreation facilities. They are in the process of replacing existing small “fieldhouses” with new larger recreation centers.
