Project Brief
The formal design process asks how do we design good urban homes and what is the relationship of the city to home, and the relationship of housing unit to the individual. The final multi-unit housing design will require students to create a successful architectural design while considering mixed uses, occupancy loads for public and private spaces, emergency egress, ADA accessibility, mechanical systems, building program and judiciously planned spaces for the affordable housing market.
The Le Droit area is filled with a large amount of history with each generation leaving their mark on the area. The aim of this proposed project involves giving new life to this area with the use of modern materials and modern facade design encouraging more people to live in this area and embrace the existing history. The design of this building is aimed at being modular and could be adapted for a whole block design.
