environnement locaTION La plage du Travers (petit et grand) s’étend sur 10 kilomètres entre Carnon et La Grande Motte. Cette étendue sauvage, séparant la mer de l’étang de l’Or, est la plage préférée des Montpelliérains tout au long de l’année. The “Travers” beach extends on 10 km between “Carnon” and “La Grande Motte”. It’s a wild area which separates the sea from the pond “de l’Or”. This beach is the most visited one in Montpellier all year long.
CONDITIONS DE NAVIGATION SAILING CONDITIONS Le spot est surtout intéressant pour les conditions Ouest et Sud-Ouest (thermique) et aussi par Est et Sud-Est, le vent faisant forcir la houle. Par Mistral (Nord, Nord-Est) et Tramontane (Nord-Ouest), le vent est souvent irrégulier et souffle de terre (Off-shore). It’s an interesting spot with thermal winds from West or South-West. Also by East or South-East with higher waves. By Mistral (Northern, North-Eastern) and Tramontana (NorthWestern), the wind is bumpy and Offshore.

Par vent marin, un courant d’Est se crée au bord de la plage et ne facilite donc pas la remontée au vent. Le shore-break n’est pas toujours évident à passer. Ne prenez donc pas de risque. There’s a lot of stream near the beach by South or South-East wind and the shore-break is not easy to pass.
