Welcome to LibertyFest 2025, where we are celebrating Stars & Stripes in Edmond and honoring the enduring symbols of American freedom. Just as the 50 stars on our flag represent unity across the nation, the stars shining here in Edmond reflect our community’s patriotic spirit. Today, we celebrate liberty together—neighbors, friends, and families united in purpose and tradition.
As we look ahead to the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, LibertyFest offers us a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the founding ideals that have shaped our country: freedom, independence, and the promise of a better future for all backgrounds.
Thank you for being part of this proud tradition. As we gather under the stars, both those on our flag and in the Oklahoma sky, may we honor the past, embrace the present, and look to the future with hope.

Summer Band Mission Statement
The Summer Band is a joint project of LibertyFest and the UCO School of Music to provide a quality band experience for area high school, college, and community members. The weekly rehearsals of this volunteer group provide a musical outlet for band members during the summer. Rehearsals culminate with a public performance of patriotic selections, marches, and popular medleys in the style of an old-fashioned concert in the park.
LibertyFest is a cherished tradition that has been bringing the community together for over five decades. Since its inception in 1972, LibertyFest has grown to become one of the most popular and anticipated events in the region, celebrating the spirit of independence and patriotism with a variety of family-friendly activities.
The origins of LibertyFest can be traced back to a group of resolute volunteers who wanted to create a festive atmosphere for the Fourth of July. Their vision was to host events that would not only entertain but also foster a sense of community and pride in the nation's heritage. Over the years, LibertyFest has evolved and expanded, incorporating new events and attractions to keep the celebration fresh and exciting.
One of the highlights of LibertyFest is the annual parade, which features colorful floats, marching bands, and a display of local talent. The parade is a vibrant showcase of Edmond's community spirit, drawing thousands of spectators who line the streets to watch the procession. The most popular event is the fireworks display, which lights up the night sky with a dazzling array of colors and patterns, providing a fitting finale to the festivities.
LibertyFest also includes a variety of other events such as a car show, a rodeo, a concert in the park, and a Liberty Jazzfest which is new this year. These events cater to different interests and age groups, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy. The festival's commitment to offering activities open to everyone and mostly free to the public has helped it maintain its popularity and relevance over the years.
In addition to the entertainment, LibertyFest has a strong focus on community involvement. Volunteers play a crucial role in organizing and executing the events, and local businesses often sponsor various activities. This collaborative effort not only strengthens community bonds but also ensures the sustainability of the festival for future generations.
Once again, we are proud to produce the official LibertyFest program. We hope you find it useful. You can find a complete link to the program on our website, www.edmondlifeandleisure.com. Please remember that the schedule in print is prepared in advance so you might want to check the LibertyFest website or Facebook page for any changes closer to the events.
LibertyFest is more than just a celebration; it is a testament to the enduring spirit of community and patriotism in Edmond. As the festival continues to evolve and adapt, it remains a cherished event that brings people together to celebrate the nation's independence and our vibrant community of Edmond.

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary next year, important traditions like Edmond’s LibertyFest remind us that as Americans we have much to celebrate, including the freedom afforded to us as citizens of this great nation. The University of Central Oklahoma is proud to be a longtime LibertyFest partner. On behalf of our students, faculty and staff, I welcome you to our beautiful campus for the Concert in the Park on the Mitchell Hall Theater lawn featuring the UCO Summer Band.
The University of Central Oklahoma is committed to The B.R.O.N.C.H.O. Way – Being Reflective of Our Neighborhood, Community, History and Oklahoma, honoring the grit and determination of those who have come before us to build our great state and university. Today, UCO is the third largest university in the state and Oklahoma’s only state-appropriated metropolitan university, affirming our commitment to meeting students where they are with an accessible, relevant and affordable college education.
When UCO thrives, so does Edmond. I invite you to campus for one of our outstanding stage performances, concerts and exhibits. I encourage you to cheer on the Bronchos as our many nationally ranked teams demonstrate excellence on and off the field, court and course. And if you find yourself seeking an educational experience that meets you where you are, I invite you to join the Broncho community as a student.
The pursuit of knowledge is foundational to the freedom we enjoy as Americans. With knowledge comes the independence to dream, to create, to innovate, to succeed and to give back. On Independence Day, we celebrate our freedom and give thanks to those who work to defend it. Monica and I wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July and look forward to seeing you throughout LibertyFest. Happy birthday, America!

Parade Mission Statement
The LibertyFest Parade is a “Moving Show” dedicated to the celebration of the birthday of this great country and the heritage of this fine state. Parade entries shall be fun, entertaining, patriotic, family oriented and crowd pleasing.
LibertyFest proudly welcomes Gerry Pinkston, Ed.D. as the 2025 Parade Grand Marshal, honoring her lifetime of trailblazing leadership in women’s athletics and higher education within the Edmond community.
A pioneer in Oklahoma sports, Pinkston began as a multi-sport star at Oklahoma State University. After arriving at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in 1975, she spent 22 seasons guiding the Bronchos softball program, while also coaching tennis and volleyball and teaching a full slate of courses. During her tenure, she coached a four-time All-American. The UCO Softball team has only had three coaches over the last 50 years, and has also had a pitcher who won a national championship and a three-time All-American. The highlighted individuals will be alongside her in this year’s parade.
Pinkston amassed over 450 wins as head coach, leading the Bronchos to 16 winning seasons and three national tournament appearances. She also taught in UCO’s Kinesiology
Department, earning recognition as an Outstanding Educator by the American Association of University Professors in 2003. Pinkston is a rare blend of academic and coach, revered by colleagues and players alike for her integrity, mentorship, and fierce advocacy for student-athletes.
She was inducted into both the UCO Athletics Hall of Fame and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame, among the highest honors in collegiate athletics.
Her career unfolded during a transformative era for women’s athletics, a time before Title IX, when most women were not given the same opportunities as male athletes. Today, nearly every Oklahoma school supports a softball team, and opportunities extend from the Olympics to professional fast-pitch leagues, progress she helped make possible.
Even after retiring from coaching, she remained on the UCO faculty and was active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for many years. In 2021, UCO honored her legacy by renaming its softball facility Gerry Pinkston Stadium, which was later recognized as the NFCA Division II Softball Stadium of the Year.
Each year, she can be found along the LibertyFest Parade route, celebrating with the community she has long supported. On July 4, she will now lead that parade through downtown Edmond, exemplifying this year's theme of being one of our stars in Edmond. The community celebrates Dr. Gerry Pinkston’s enduring legacy and welcomes her to the heart of its Independence Day tradition.
