ridians in need can access Shepherd’s Hope compassionate free health care thanks, in part, to the impact of individual donors, community partners, and event supporters, including presenting sponsor Wyndham Vacation Ownership; co-sponsor Florida Hospital; contest sponsors Dr. Phillips Charities and Starling Chevrolet Cadillac Buick & GMC; refreshment sponsors 4Rivers and Panera Bread; and media partners 9 Family Connection and Florida Golf Central,” said Marni Stahlman, CEO/President, Shepherd’s Hope. “These sponsors are making it possible for more dollars to go directly to programs and services and the need is great.” It is estimated that 1-in-4 Central Floridians remain uninsured, contributing to the approximately 850,000 Floridians who linger in a gray area known as the “coverage gap,” those earning too much to qualify for some programs, but not enough to afford insurance products offered on the Healthcare.gov exchange, even with federal subsidies, because of costly out-of-reach deductibles and co-payments. Such residents struggle to afford basic housing/food needs and, therefore because of financial obligations, often forgo or delay medical care.
