Photographers can always tell a tale by breaking all language barriers. Each photographer has his own genre of telling pictorial stories and one such genre is editorial fashion photography.
Editorial fashion photography tells the entire story itself without having the need to be supported by text. It depicts an entire narrative through one photograph or a portfolio of them where each picture tells a thousand words based on the same theme.
Edith is a high end publication dedicated to showcase Fashion and Beauty photographic work with a creative edge through editorial storytelling and interview features.
In addition, we are interested in sharing the life journeys of creative artists in the industry through Boudoir and Artistic nude photography. Edith Glamour reveals provocative, sensual, edgy and stunning models through editorials.
We also collaborate with publicity/ creative agencies for brand/artist features.
Art, as we know it, consists of beautiful and breath-taking forms of work that not only pleases the eyes but also touches our souls in more ways than one. It is something that is not just seen but is felt through various modes such as writings, music, paintings and sculptures that form a source through which real human emotions can be depicted that are otherwise hidden deep within us.
A true artist often is the one who captures a feeling from real life in its absolute raw form and mould it to scale up its amplification factor to present it to the world in the most heartwarming way.
Art in its most mainstream consists of fancy abstract or contemporary pieces of work that add to the décor of our favourite interior or exterior spaces but also add deeper meaning through its forms and styles.
Photography is one such poetic pathway of images and photographs and can depict feelings that are unspoken and unwritten. So how does one read photography and understand it in its true sense? Well, here are some pointers that will make you see photographs in ways that you have never seen before.
Every story may not be captured into a photograph but every photograph always does have a story. So, what is this story? What is the photographer trying to say through the particular photograph or a set of photographs? Is it the culture of a place? Is it a love story between two people? Is it a broken love story between two people? Is it the pain? Or is it a fashion brand that is trying to bring about a change to the climate? Every picture taken is taken because it represented something, it was a moment or a subject that needed to be told in a way that words could never express. It is the story.
A good photograph always pays attention not only to the big picture but also to the finer details. For a planned photoshoot, a photographer is extremely careful to hand pick every small detail that would be a part of the still image. For example, if there is a Victorian themed photoshoot, all the accessories, clothing, shoes, hairdos and even the hair pins will be made sure that it is replicated to match the era. Once the exterior setting elements have been gathered, the next round of finer details that are considered are the positioning of the models. Are they standing or sitting? Who is in the front and who is at the back? This will often be decided on the basis of dominance and power. The lesser-known fact about photography is that they always have camouflaged elements of human psychology and the photographer takes advantage of this photographic psychology to present what they want to represent. Lastly it is the expressions and the expressive postures where the photographer focuses on the subtle or intense feelings through the model characters. Is the female character looking happy but is internally sad? Does she look like she is from a powerful family but looks like she has a dominance over her? These small details that can’t be said out loud but speak volumes through the eyes, length of the smile and body language are the ones paid maximum attention to.
Written by SonzCould you tell our readers who is Sofia and how would she describe herself?
A woman that been through fire and made it!
How was your life before being an influencer?
I was born and raised in Greece, abused as a child and was an adult survivor of domestic violence that nearly cost me my life. I had to work hard to study, to survive, raise my two children and stay focused on my goals.
What was your key to success?
I knew since a very young age that: having patience and never losing faith in your dreams is the key and I knew that I was going to achieve my dreams.
Did your troubled childhood cause any imbalance in your life?
My abuse caused me a lot of despair and depression that I had to fight through during the years of my life. But, since I have always focused on the positive side of every situation, I can say that I made it.
You were nominated for woman of the year in 2012, what is the story behind it?
I always had sensitivity with matters involving women and children in need and domestic violence and I dedicated many years to assist women and children in need. I really wanted to help people, so I organised a form of group including Greek women and women living in Greece and created a helping chain that worked miracles. We, (at least 98,000 members) have spread awareness and helped families escape, helped women find work, helped
orphanages with clothes and medicines helped the children who are fighting diseases such as cancer and MDA. For this reason, I was nominated for one woman of the year award in 2012 and even gave a TEDx talk in Athens.
Did you always want to be who you are today?
I could work as a stylist and eventually manage to own my own clothing brand but my love for hospitality and connecting with people won, so now, I am managing 7 boutique hotels and I am the ambassador for many hotels, restaurants and businesses that offer experiences in Santorini Island, Greece. I am also a TV hostess for Volcano TV and a radio hostess for Santorini FM 106,4. Radio producing comes natural to me and it is my hobby that pays off.
Could you tell us a little more about your boutique hotels?
The boutique hotels that I am managing are all located on the beautiful Santorini Island that offers spectacular views with top concierge services. To be precise, me and my team offer the best concierge services on the island and my clients get the full experience of the Santorini Island.
Could you tell us a little about your personal life?
I am a single mom to two beautiful children that I always get with me to work so that they learn by experience and spend valuable time with me since I work so hard.
I have a lot of collaboration with photographers around the world and I love to travel. Travelling all over the world, studying each country’s highlights and culture and working on photo projects is my passion and my ultimate goal in life.
tions for your photoshoots?
My inspiration for the photoshoots come from the need to show each place activities and beauties with style and class. It is a different and unique way of storytelling and something that lasts forever, and it is something I always recommend at my guests to do.
Being an inspiration to not only her children but to many women that became a part of her world, Sofia proves to be a true motivational person who has risen above all the flames in her life.
