EHA welcomes our new Fall 2015 Social Work interns from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

A new academic year has begun and EHA is glad they can provide this opportunity for UTRGV students. In order so that they can gain experience and put their knowledge into practice.

College Readiness: Leading our youth forward A

On Sept. 26th EHA initiated a new program in order to prepare our high school seniors and juniors for college. College readiness presentations took place at the Sam Risica Community Center.

EHA is excited and happy that they are able to help their junior and senior high school student residents by providing them with the necessary tools and information for a better future. EHA

A hopes to continue inspiring and encouraging our youth to pursue education and strive for a better future. So that they can prove to the world that status has nothing to do with how successful you can be in life.

EHA has its monthly resident council meeting

Edinburg Housing Authority had its monthly and present. We look forward to our next meeting resident council meeting at El Jardin community on on Oct. 15.

Sept 10. Rene Torres with McAllen Careers Institute talked about career opportunities and assistance. As well as technical classes residents can enroll in order to begin a journey to success.

After Torres presentation and a couple of words by Rudy Ramirez and Rich Christian residents were provided with another healthy meal by Chef Zuniga who prepared a Rotini Salad and some fruit skewers for all to enjoy.

FUN AND SAFETY TIPS: • Don’t let your child go unattended, there’s monsters out their on Halloween.

• Carry a flashlight with you. You never know when ghost will pop out of no where to scare you.

• Who doesn’t love candy? It’s the best! But make sure your candy is a treat and not a trick!

• Don’t have a costume, don’t worry! Every school wears uniforms now. You can always be a student.

• If you are afraid of the dark, good luck. All hope is lost for you on Halloween Night. Just kidding. Kinda.

• Remember as much fun as Halloween is, always be aware of your surroundings and if you feel or see any wrong act or suspicious activity make sure you report it to a hero Immediately.

HOMEWORK HELP IS HERE! EHA is glad to announce its fall 2015 homework help session, which will start Sept. 28 and continue throughout the academic year. The session will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Mondays at El Jardin, La Posada, Ramirez and Albores; and Tuesdays at Lantana. All students from EHA are welcome to attend the session and get help with their homework. If you have any further questions regarding the homework help session, please contact Araceli Porras @ 383-3839.

EHA welcomes any housing students 13 to 19-years-old to join the Youth Leadership Association!

Due monthly by the 1st, but EHA gives you until the 5th to pay in full. There is a $15 fee for late payments.

Residents 18+ years old who are not employed 30 hours or more a week or are not full-time students, must comply with the 8 hour HUD’s community service requirement.
