Where to Stay?
Once we have accepted you onto the Gap Year Programme we will then begin discussions to find accommodation that suits your needs.
If you are planning to live at home during your Gap Year or want to source your own accommodation, we would suggest that you either have your own means of transport or that public transport puts you within no more than 40 minutes’ travel time to the places you will be serving.

Again, all of these decisions can be made in conversation with us here at Edinburgh City Mission.
If you do not have your own accommodation, then we can help you by trying to place you with a host family.
This will be in discussion with yourself and the host family and we will aim to find you accommodation which has good transport links or is close to where you will be serving.
We have 4 finance options depending on which Bible Study programme and accommodation options you take:
The Gap Year we are offering also enables you to take up part-time work as you will be with Edinburgh City Mission 3 days a week, giving you time to work on the other days of the week.
We can work your Edinburgh City Mission days around the part-time work you find.
Edinburgh City Mission covers 50% of costs of the Gap Year programme. The figures above are the remaining 50% to be paid by the appointed applicant.
