In contrast to the Revolution Country Traveller’s 7005 aluminium frame and cantilever brakes, our Country Explorer is built with a Reynolds CrMo steel frame equipped with disc brakes. Ask any ferrous fans and they’ll tell you that thin-wall Reynolds tubing introduces a comfortable lightsprung feel to the ride. As for the brakes, Avid BB5s are ball bearing actuated to offer instant engagement and release, plus their harder brake pads will last longer - as will the wheel rims.

When Cycle (the CTC magazine) tested our Country Traveller last year against one of the few other sub-£500 touring bikes available in the UK, they concluded. ‘It’s rather obvious that the Revolution is a better bike. For a start it’s lighter a lot lighter. Some say weight doesn’t matter on tour. I disagree, and besides tourers should be versatile.’ In response to requests from customers looking for a shorter-reach frame with more stepover clearance, our versatile, lightweight tourer will be available in 2 new sizes, 46 & 49cm from April 2013.

The Country Premier takes the key features of the Explorer - the Reynolds 525 CrMo steel frame and the Avid BB5 cable operated disc brakes. Then it’s upgraded with Shimano LX 3x9 STI Rapidfire shifters, rear mech and chainset (with Hollowtech 2 bottom bracket) and Shimano SPD pedals. To ensure maximum comfort, we followed the lead of many cyclists who go the distance by fitting multi-position ergo bars.
