As we approach the great transition of all ages it is very important to focus and prioritize on our spiritual growth.

It will come as no surprise to Card of the Week readers and monthly forecasting watchers that a large portion of how I live a spiritual life includes cartomancy. Divination is more than cards, stones, bones, runes, and any other physical thing you may impress meaningful symbols onto.

The next day, I looked in the mirror, and a faint birthmark I’d always had at the very center of my forehead was suddenly prominent. Perfectly round, chocolate brown, my high third eye.

I saw that and knew I was on the right path. My doctor wanted to remove it immediately so it wouldn’t turn into a melanoma.

Divination is also in noticing your body and the world around you. Your body is a tool you always have, free to use, constrained only by you.

I knew in my soul that wasn’t the right action then. There was a physical alignment I felt when thinking about my dot and spirituality. There was a cellular NO! When I imagined its extrication, it was as if all my cells were going to hold on to my dot like when making a human chain to rescue someone from drowning. It was very different from my body experiences 20+ years later when I did have it removed, leaving me with the faintest crescent moon scar.

I’m not talking about face reading/physiognomy. That practice is racist and othering. We’re focusing on our own unique, beautiful selves here.

First, do you think of your body as being a divinatory tool?

Your body wants you to become as familiar with it as you are with your favorite tarot deck.

The first time I recognized my body as a divinatory tool, I was in my mid-teens. I had friends who thought I’d be an excellent witch. “Nah, that’s your path” was my answer for years. If you stop to think and ponder, if you as an individual are the most essential tool, what does that mean? What energy are you filling your world with? Gratitude? Love? What is it for you?

In the words of Brene Brown, when you are armored up, and so guarded, authentic emotions and connections between individuals cannot happen. When our shields are up, we push away the negative; we may also be pushing away the beautiful energy surrounding us. A practical spiritual tool is learning how to connect and identify our emotions. To embrace them and, if need be, to work through the energy associated with them to better lead an authentic spiritual life.

by Cheryl Carrigan The Angels and I were talking about the difference between responding vs. reacting the other day. They reminded me that they are always here to help if we Ask, Believe, Trust, and Allow and that earth angels surround us in our moments of greatest need.

In December, I had an OH NO situation. I ran a deer over!!! I was on my way home from my boutique in WI when an oncoming semi, unfortunately, hit a deer! I witnessed the accident, and the next thing I knew, the buck was thrown up in the air, and I ran him over!

I immediately started crying. My first thought was, "I ran the deer over," and second, "OMG, what damage did it do to my van?"

As soon as it was safe, I pulled over and got off the road. I thanked my Angels that I was not hurt, then got out to look at the van. A wonderful man, AKA an earth angel, also stopped to check on me. He said, "Are you ok?" I said yes, but I was not sure if my van was. He said, "Stay in the car. I will check it out for you." When he returned, he said there was no outside body damage. I said, "But I ran it over!' He said he checked underneath the van and didn't see anything leaking or hanging, so he thought I was safe to drive home.

Once home, I again thanked my angels and dropped my vehicle off for my mechanic to check over. Well, the bad news came. The deer was so large that he had smashed the entire exhaust and catalytic converter, a $2500-3000 fix! Oh heavens, that's a lot of money!

My mechanic, who is also an earth angel, said this was a claim for my insurance. So I called my insurance agent, and sure enough, within 24 hours, a claims adjuster was out, and a check was written for $5500 plus a rental car to use while mine was being fixed!

Woowza, a $5500 check! My mechanic fixed it with used parts, so I saved a ton of money on the repair and gave him a share of my blessing from heaven!

See, I could have reacted and got all upset that in the middle of the holiday season, I ran a deer over, and my van needed a costly repair.

Instead, I said, "Angels help me," and help they did.

I responded with gratitude that I was not injured, that the van needed fixing but was not totaled, and I had a rental while it was being fixed. As a bonus, I even made a couple of dollars at a time when I really needed it.

We never really know why something happens.

What is important is we Ask, Believe, Trust, and then Allow the angels to take care of it all!

In the world of holistic health, the chakras play a major role. Whether you are interested in yoga, meditation, Reiki, or other natural healing modalities, the chakra system is at the center of it all. So what are these abstract energetic fields, and why are they so important?

T H E C H A K R A S YS T E M In Sanskrit, 'chakra' translates to 'disc' or 'wheel.' It pertains to our subtle body's dynamic, spinning wheels of energy. These energy centers extend from the spine's base to the head's crown, each associated with a unique rainbow color. The concept of chakras originated from the Vedas, an ancient Hindu scripture, and has now proliferated worldwide, finding its place in various religions and spiritual traditions.

The root or base chakra at the base of the spine governs our sense of grounding, stability, and survival instincts. The sacral chakra, located just below the navel, governs our creativity, sexuality, and emotional balance.

The solar plexus chakra in the upper abdomen is associated with our self-esteem, confidence, and personal power. The heart chakra in the center of the chest governs our capacity for love, compassion, and forgiveness.

The throat chakra is responsible for our communication, self-expression, and authenticity. The third eye chakra, located in the center of the forehead, is associated with our intuition, imagination, and spiritual insight. Finally, the crown chakra, at the top of the head, is associated with our connection to the divine, sense of purpose, and spiritual awakening.

WHAT CAUSES CHAKRA IMBALANCE? Each of the seven chakras is associated with specific physical and mental/emotional aspects of ourselves. Imbalances and blockages in the chakras can manifest in physical ailments as

well as mental suffering. These manifestations are often treated superficially, ignoring the underlying cause. Identifying imbalances and energetic blockages in the chakras helps us mindfully direct healing toward that area of our life and physical self.

The health of our chakras is influenced by numerous factors, some of which are beyond our control. Difficult experiences can significantly impact the development and balance of our chakras. These experiences need not always be explicit, such as physical abuse or bereavement; they can be subtle, like a toxic relationship, a draining job, or even a bout of depression. All these things can disrupt the natural energy flow through our chakras, leading to imbalances and blockages.

Chakras are complex energy centers, and their development is a gradual process that starts in infancy and continues through young adulthood. The formation of each chakra is influenced by a myriad of experiences, including interactions with caregivers, family, and the environment. The quality of the experiences we have during these formative years has a profound impact on the development and balance of our chakras.

Our life experiences can significantly influence the health and balance of our chakras.

Positive experiences such as love and joy can help open and balance our chakras, allowing energy to flow freely. Negative experiences, like trauma, stress, and emotional pain, can create blockages and imbalances, making it difficult for energy to flow through our chakras. These blockages can manifest as physical, emotional, or spiritual issues, impacting our overall wellbeing. The Mythical Dragon Arrives in 2024:

Fire-Breathing?

The Chinese Solar New Year is always celebrated on February 4th. The Lunar New Year, however, is based on the movements of the moon, so it varies substantially. This year the Lunar Year begins on February 10th.

The “typical” arrangement between the two events is for the Lunar New Year to precede the Solar date; when it follows February 4th, this situation is called a “blind year.” It doesn’t take a lot of insight to anticipate this could be problematic.

Whenever something is out of step, such as this situation, it implies an inauspicious time ahead.

The Chinese astrological system employs a 12-year cycle, each year represented by an animal. The animals are all considered farm or household animals except for this year, when we are going under the influence of the Dragon. The Dragon being a mythical animal, brings an entirely different perspective.

In the Western world, dragons are considered dangerous and something to be feared. Being confronted by a firebreathing dragon means death is certain. However, in Eastern cultures, the dragon is a powerful and wise protector and is a sign of good luck. The Dragon holds a lot of earth energy which means its tendencies are focused on care, protection and safety. Therefore, they are revered in the East. The traditional dragon dance is held at many Asian festivities even today because it has such positive connotations and can bring luck to those who are attending.

Along with the annual animal sign, there is always a pairing with one of the 5 Chinese Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) to help elaborate on the theme of the year. This year the Dragon is aligned with Yang Wood.

which brings with it not only strength, but also stubbornness, a resistance to compromise, and even anger. In nature, Wood depletes the resources of Earth, therefore the Dragon with all its earthiness will be weakened. This could forecast a year of conflict and dis-harmony.

What do you do with this kind of information that you can’t change? I’ve learned it is best to find a personal solution to the turmoil. The way I am approaching this upcoming year of 2024 is through my painting, where I have taken refuge in the harmony of color and shapes to offset the worldly turmoil.

The painting above is aptly titled “Dragon in the Fields” which I produced in 2018 and which now lives in someone else’s home. Although there is no actual dragon in the image, it captures the softer and more protective side of the dragon.

I don’t title my paintings until the last brush stroke lands, at which point the painting will inform me how it wants to be recognized. I admit I was surprised by the dragon reference, expecting a more ferocious depiction of the creature.

For obvious reasons this painting will become an appropriate Feng Shui adjustment in 2024 for the people who now own it, one of whom was born in a dragon year.

Tools to Raise Your Vibration

It’s important to keep your energy field and inner self clear on a daily basis. This means letting go of daily and inherited problems, including outdated issues, patterns, beliefs, memories, and emotions not serving you. This can be from current life traumas to small problems. You also inherit problems and traumas from your ancestors, other lifetimes, and the collective. They all reside within your physical body and around you in your energy field.

Some need to be consciously processed and somethings do not.

This takes a daily effort so that you can feel your best each day.

Keeping your body and energy field clear doesn’t mean you won’t feel emotions or have problems, it means that life is more manageable and your viewpoint is optimal, so you can keep the highest level perspective during hard times.

These tools keep me feeling good daily – see if any of these techniques resonate with you, so you can use them yourself: • I routinely decide to act like I know nothing. This means continuously emptying my mind of thoughts as they come in.

I imagine them being erased as my mind produces thoughts.

This allows new insights to come in that are better than the ones I already believe. If the old beliefs stay with me, and dominate my thoughts, then I don’t get anything better than what I can imagine which is limited.

I want during the day. For exercise, I do something active for 30 minutes and some sort of muscle toning to help stay stronger. This creates a great start to my day.

It’s good to have a number of tools to keep you well. Find what works best for you and make sure to use them daily.

Self-discipline is important in keeping yourself feeling your best. You’re worth it. Healing yourself helps humanity heal too, since we’re all interconnected. Let’s join hands and do this work together. As the Hopi Indians say, “We are the Ones we’ve been waiting for.”

• If there’s a problem in my life, I put the intention that I’m surrendering if to my Higher Self/Spirit. I remind myself that worrying is like sending out a prayer of worry to the person or situation I’m concerned about. I imagine the worry and problems being handed over to my Higher Self. I see my Higher Self looking like an ethereal version of myself, but you can see her/him as an angel or some other kind of spirit guide. I ask that my Higher Self brings in much better outcomes than I can imagine. Many times, ideas pop into my head or somebody comes in with an answer or I read something that gives me new ideas on how to proceed.

• I ask my ancestors, who have crossed over, to support me and align with me as I clear up the issues, we’ve all created together.

One of my cousins is an excellent ancestry researcher so I know them by name and have seen pictures of them. This makes it easier to envision them in detail as I ask them to surround me and other ancestors with love and support. However, it’s not necessary to see them at all. Intention is the most important part to this.

• I play on my energetic healing audios, on the lowest volume, throughout the day and night which acts like an automatic clearing for my mind, emotions and body, and energy field. I pick out the one that I need most and put it on repeat or put on several of them and play them on a playlist. If I want assistance in understanding something more clearly or clearing something on a deeper level, I’ll turn the volume up and take the time to listen to the energetic healing audio’s words so I can have additional energetic support. MEDITATION -AS A TOOL FOR SPIRIT UAL LIVINGBY W E N D Y B E N N I N G S WA N S O N

Meditation is a powerful tool for spiritual living.

There is extensive literature that highlights its ability to cultivate mindfulness, reduce stress, support self-awareness, connect with spirit or your higher self, and it has been associated with various physical health benefits such as improved cardiovascular health, better immune function, and pain management. When I began my spiritual journey, I initially resisted the notion of meditation, feeling overwhelmed by the expectations surrounding it.

Being a busy mom and an entrepreneur, I felt that dedicating extended periods of time to stillness was impractical. Yet the demands of life started to take a toll on my well-being leaving me tired, sad, and stressed despite seeking answers from retreats, psychics, mediums and shamans, I realized the urgency for change.

At a pivotal moment, I made a commitment to myself. I would meditate, but only for 15 minutes a day, rejecting the notion that it required hours of dedication. My self-imposed routine included rising 15 minutes earlier on weekdays at 5:45 and engaging in a 15-minute guided meditation sourced from YouTube. Within one week I saw the changes in my life, and I knew that I couldn’t go back. I had less stress, increased joy, mental spaciousness for self-reflection, and a notable improvement in overall well-being. I was astonished at the impact 15 minutes a day had on me. My life completely changed. I had a reduced perception of daily stress, detachment from unnecessary worries, enhanced attention, focus, and concentration, and improved sleep, in short, it revolutionized my life.

Over time my meditation practice evolved, and I learned new techniques such as the Sanctuary Meditation, where you find your own unique spiritual sanctuary, the safest place to connect to spiritual realms and where you meet up with your higher self (the highest and best version of you) and it

is where I go to get clarity and guidance that I then use in my life. Such experiences have eliminated the need for external tools like oracle cards or therapists, as my sanctuary serves as a constant source of insight.

There are many other meditation practices that can support you in your meditation journey such as the Max Meditation which is a system that combines both active and passive meditation and relaxation techniques and incorporates elements from different meditation traditions to create a well-rounded and structured practice. I also personally work with movement meditation which includes practices like Tai Chi, Chi Do, Qi Gong, and walking meditation, where movement is integrated with mindfulness and breath awareness.

In essence, the initial commitment to just 15 minutes of daily meditation became a catalyst for profound change.

It not only revolutionized my perception of stress but also became a gateway to self-discovery, emotional balance, and a deeper connection with the spiritual dimensions of life.

Through this journey, I discovered that even a brief daily investment in meditation can yield transformative and enduring benefits, making it a valuable and accessible tool for anyone on the path to spiritual living. a
