O

n this day, as I sit and write to you, it is February 18 and protesters in Egypt celebrated “Victory Day” in Cairo’s Tahrir Square during the 18th day of the populist uprising, which has led to the exile of President Hosni Mubarak and has spread to neighboring countries where similar anti-government campaigns are underway.

Closer to home, at the Wisconsin state capitol in Madison, a throng of people carry on during the seventh day of protests against a proposed bill that would curtail the right of state workers to negotiate for benefits above base salaries.

Protest, it seems, has gone viral. Or perhaps it is more accurate to say that transformation is in the air — manifesting personally and collectively.

It’s been long suggested that this is the age in which paradigms would be busted and rebuilt to reflect the will of the human spirit.

The rise of Democracy in the Middle East seems to be a perfect example of that.

A change just as profound is underway here. The outsourcing of American jobs overseas, combined with the rapid collapse of the U.S. housing market — and simultaneous escalation of personal fortune for the wealthiest among us — have resulted in a perfect storm that already has hit our shores. People have lost their jobs and their homes, and states are beginning to cut lifelines to the least among us.

The end result is still ours to determine.

The first step toward the rest of our lives is our commitment to listening to our soul.

Mine tells me to begin to express myself more creatively and become more involved in helping others. By picking up my old brushes and paint with acrylics like I used to years ago. By writing those novels that have been gestating within me. By volunteering regularly.

I hear within that there

is nothing to wait for, that there is only now. As a result, my wife and I are close to selling our home in the suburbs. We will be downsizing next month to a townhome on the eastern edge of this publication’s region, in Madison, where I will paint, write and begin to volunteer regularly.

And I look forward to hearing how your soul’s whispers are leading you through this time of transformation. Submit your story to The Edge so I can share it with our readers. I can’t wait to read it. a

advice about physical placement — where to hang a picture, where to put a misplaced chair, etc. I asked for a lot of advice about where I should write my new book, as well as guidance about its content.

Margaret Lulic: Two major examples come to mind. In 2008, I had a sudden very severe onset of rheumatoid arthritis. I was in great pain and very disabled — couldn’t dress myself, cook, work, drive or even open the front door. My home helped me heal as I spent many hours alone with her while my family was at work and school. She was soothing to my spirits, peaceful, encouraging, and kept my vision alive as to who I really could return to being. I learned to work with her in new ways to take care of myself. My rheumatologist can’t believe my recovery. He says the medications alone could not have gotten me to where I am now.

My home was a great co-parent for our child. My husband and I created rites of passages with our home for the development and growth of our daughter. That led to her getting into the school of her choice. We used our home to teach responsibility and to help our daughter see her power to create her dreams. We were very touched when she and her fiancé wanted to get married in our backyard, because that was more meaningful than anywhere else.

Dr. Bill Manahan: I might be exag-

gerating, but I think making changes in my home has improved my ability to concentrate when I am reading or working in my home. The other thing is that just being conscious that my home — my living space — has a personality that reflects who I am helps me be more aware of who I am.

I think that kind of self-awareness is a really good and important thing for me.

We spent over a year looking for a home there, and every time we drove down a particular street, we would exclaim about how beautiful a certain home on it was…it was a home that clearly spoke to us. In retrospect, maybe it was looking for us, too! Unbelievably, the house became available for sale, and we’ve lived there now for 15 years. Every time I turn into the driveway, the house brings a smile to my face.

What practical things can we do in our daily life to enhance our relationship with our home, and why are these steps vital?

Carole Hyder: One powerful way is to

give it a name. Whenever I suggest this idea, I’m surprised by how many people tell me they’ve already named their home and find it a wonderfully personal way to connect.

Another more touching way to connect and enhance your relationship is to write a thank-you note to your home. We overlook how important they are in our lives, so a simple thank you can open up a channel of reciprocal gratitude — from you to your home and from your home to you.

Margaret Lulic: As Carole said, a

simple starting point is to go through a naming exercise with your home.

Names carry meaning and shift the relationship. Then you can use various approaches to “communicate” with your companion. Carole describes many ways to do that.

Second, curl up and stay home more. Churchill said, “We shape our buildings; thereafter, they shape us.”

Our homes have the ability to heal us, but we need to spend time in them.

Third, self-awareness is critical to personal and spiritual growth, and your home can be a mirror to you of who you are or aspire to be. So take the time to look through the eyes of the home — as if you are a stranger to the home — and see new

insights. Ask yourself new questions like, “What does it mean that I don’t live in my living room or dine in my dining room? Is there an aspect of myself that I don’t live in? What does it mean that my family room is mainly an electronics center focused on the television? What is my home longing to tell me?”

Fourth, conscious creation of the beliefs and energy of your home are absorbed by you, your family, and even the neighborhood; your home becomes a lever for personal and global impact affecting health, peace and well-being. What are you putting into global consciousness?

Dr. Bill Manahan: One thing is to

attend this workshop and become more aware of how your house can become your friend. Your house can become a reflection back to you of your values, your goals, and of what is going on with you in your life — both consciously and unconsciously.

Being a pretty typical male, the words that I just wrote would have made no sense to me at a younger age. I believed that a house was just a place to contain my body while it (my body) ate, slept, played with the kids and enjoyed a relationship with my wife. My house was a container in which to live my life.

I now believe that idea is quite limited and basically not very conscious. There is a spirit and a heart within our homes that can create good energy and well-being that I now believe affect our physical, emotional and spiritual health.

Michaela Mahady: The patterns of

one’s daily life and experience, both past and the present, can reveal what kinds of environments each of us prefers. Ask yourself, “What places in your current home do you most use and enjoy?” Try to figure out why. If you love being in your formal dining room because it’s heavenly sunny, don’t just entertain there. Try to mold it into a place that you can enjoy every day. Surround yourself with favorite objects, listen to your favorite music. Use the table for writing, drawing, making stuff, or paying bills…or push the table to one side, so you can dance there! a

Workshop on ‘Your Inner Shaman’ features novelist

ocal Twin Cities author June Gossler Anderson will talk about her youth adventure novel, The Shaman Stone, as part of the “Awakening Your Inner Shaman Workshop” led by Debra Calph from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at the Center for Harmonious Living, 12201 Minnetonka Blvd., Minnetonka.

The novel centers around a mysterious stone that creates miracles and shifts time and dimensions. In her research for this book, June traveled to burial mounds and participated in some Native American rituals. She also researched Native American and Hmong history and culture and their shamanic practices. The author will share spiritual experiences she has had while writing and researching her novel. Books will be available for purchase and signing. June writes historical columns for the Anoka Union newspaper and leads Ghost Tours of Anoka.

In the workshop, attendees will explore the purpose and benefits of shamanic practices. Debra will lead the group through a ritual that promotes healing, transformation and positive growth. Participants will learn how to bring balance to their lives by connecting to spiritual essences that are found in nature, trees and animals.

Accessing your intuition: For beginners

ntil recently, intuitive ability in our society has been ignored, discounted, trivialized and, in some cases, criminalized. Many people claim that intuition doesn’t even exist, that the “accidental” happenings of gut instinct or psychic knowing are merely coincidences or things made up to make oneself feel better. For years, those who believed in intuition were forced to meet in back rooms and secret societies and to feel ashamed to admit these activities to friends and neighbors.

No wonder most people don’t use intuition as a helpful tool in everyday life. Not only have people not been taught how to use intuition; they have been told it doesn’t exist!

Intuitive ability is very much like musical ability — everyone has some musical talent, but very few people can sit down and play the piano without training. Similarly, everyone has the capability to be intuitive, but very few are natural born psychics.

As with musical ability, the key to training intuition is to believe in it, discover our strengths, learn the rules, and then practice, practice, practice.

There are actually some very simple rules for learning and enhancing your intuitive skills. Learning these rules and then practicing some exercises will aid everyone in making intuition an accessible and usable skill:  Being open to intuition is, of

course, the first step. It is impossible to use something if you refuse to acknowledge that it exists. If you find yourself constantly doubting your abilities or thinking that you are “making this up,” you will only slow down your progress.  The information you receive will only be as good as the questions that you ask. Most people don’t get good intuitive help because they think psychic messages occur spontaneously. Sometimes that is true, but asking a good question is the key to getting usable intuition advice.  Once you have determined what you wish to know, you need to enter into a focus state. In a focus state, we reduce the number of high-amplitude Beta brainwaves that form the constant mental chatter we carry on in our minds. My favorite way of creating an almost instantaneous focus state is to relax my tongue.

Loosening your tongue keeps you from talking to yourself and allows space for your intuition to speak.  While in this focus state you will receive an intuitive message. Don’t stay in the state long; a minute or two is all that is necessary. Take whatever you get, whether it is a thought, physical feeling, emotion, color, smell or sound. Just remember it, then come out of your focus state.  Once you are out of the focus state ask, “What does what I just received mean to me?” Write at least five words to describe what you saw, heard, smelled or felt. For example, perhaps while in your focus state you

saw a rabbit. Once you come out, write what a rabbit means to you (i.e. fuzzy, trouble, fast, breeds a lot, etc.)

The words that you write down are the answer to the question you asked. Use your conscious mind to interpret how the message you received answered the question you asked. If you don’t get an answer that makes sense, you can always repeat the exercise and ask for more clarification.  Practice is the key. Each day, spend 10 or 15 minutes asking a question, going into a focus state, getting a message (mind picture, word, emotion, etc.) and then coming out and interpreting it. Sometimes the message might not make any sense to you. Don’t worry about this.

Just keep practicing and practicing.

No one gets really good at anything without discipline and clarity.  The last step to being a master intuitive is to trust what you have received and to act upon it. Without trust and action, all the rest is of no value.

In my opinion, the changes coming in 2012 are going to be about developing our intuitive birthright. Our thoughts and emotions are also made of these energies, just in different frequencies. Anger and resentment are very low vibrating energies that a clairvoyant sees as “dirty” or “greyish red” energies. Love and spiritual devotion energies are uplifting and seen as pink, violet and gold energies. Because of this knowledge, we can use Pranic Healing cleansing techniques to extract the negative, dirty energies and replenish with loving and spiritual energies. This alone can help pull a person out of a rut and make them more positive and happy.

These powerful techniques in Pranic Healing are used to alleviate phobias, anxiety and addictions. You can also project pink and gold energies to loved ones and friends to help create more harmonious relationships.

You can use the color pranic energies from certain crystals for healing and psychic protection. y life’s work has shifted to helping parents and others understand that children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (“ASD”) also come with gifts. Too often, parents of a child with this diagnosis assume that success in life for their child is out of reach, or will be marginal at best. Autism-related reference books typically leave parents with a sense of frustration and hopelessness.

I am a 60-year-old adult diagnosed with both Asperger’s syndrome and ADD. I have enjoyed many successes in my life, professionally, financially and socially. I am a living testament that the potential is there for your ASD child to succeed.

If we are to succeed, we need Love and Perseverance in the form of proper guidance and adequate support as we struggle to find our way in an overwhelming, neurotypical world. Guidance and support comes across to us most effectively if it comes from a place of love and understanding within you. The ultimate goal is to gently help us identify, cultivate and productively

Internationally known autism advocate Temple Grandin, in her book The Way I See It, aptly states: “There is often too much emphasis in the world of autism on the deficits of these children and not enough emphasis on developing the special talents that many of them possess.”

Looking back, the two most important attributes instilled in me by my parents that helped me succeed were: “You can learn to do anything you set your mind to do,” and “Be persistent — don’t give up.”

The modern airplane grew out of a lowly bicycle shop as a result of the curiosity, intrigue and persistence of two brothers who loved to tinker around. The key to learning is motivation, and the key to motivation is self-interest. We have to want to do it, whatever “it”

is, not just to please or appease you, but to please ourselves. Autistics and Aspies are rarely motivated significantly by either praise or punishment. Persistence is a natural trait in everyone, but through diligence it can be trained out of a child. It often seems that our persistence is discouraged in order to make someone else’s life easier.

Persistence, like many other traits, needs to be guided toward its appropriate use. Not all situations call for persistence.

Your child is unique. A gluten-free, dairy-free, whole food recipe

Buckwheat Soba Noodle Salad

This flavorful side dish can be eaten warm or cold. In the winter months, it’s delicious served warm.

Ingredients: 1 package buckwheat soba noodles (or gluten free linguini noodles) 1 cup grated carrots 1 cup thinly sliced red cabbage 3 green onions, sliced into rounds ½ cup chopped cilantro ¼ cup sesame seeds, toasted Dressing: 3 TBS sesame oil 2 TBS wheat-free tamari 2 TBS brown rice vinegar 1 TBS maple syrup 1 to 2 tsp hot pepper sesame oil 1 to 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger 2 to 3 cloves garlic, crushed Cook the buckwheat noodles according to the directions on the package.

When the noodles are cooked, drain and rinse with cool water and set aside.

Place the cooked noodles and the other vegetables in a large bowl.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the dressing. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss well.

Serves 4 generously.

Choosing to become a conscientious food shopper

Third in a four-part series ccording to Webster’s Dictionary, conscientious means to be “governed by conscience.” From the perspective of this article, being a conscientious shopper would mean making choices from our conscience that support products, companies and businesses that strive to provide the best choices for a sustainable and healthy population and planet.

Though this can apply to anything we purchase, the focus here is on our food supply.

We as a people are becoming sick from the “toxic soup” of chemicals, and from all the packaged and processed food we consume. Every choice we make affects someone else from around the world. Every

One of the most important steps in becoming a conscientious shopper is to ask what is important to you and what kind of a world you want to help create and support.

Then educate yourself! Learn to read labels and get to know the food you purchase and the people who grow it!

Stay aware when you shop. I have a friend whom I would consider a well-educated conscientious shopper. Our local grocery store has decided to offer more organics, and she wanted to support them in this choice so she bought a package of frozen, organic corn. When she got home, she looked at the label and

learned that the corn was from China. Awareness is key, as labeling can be very tricky. All the labels and choices can become overwhelming, so here are some guidelines to get you started.

Ask yourself these questions and then make choices that work for you and just do the best you can. Making small changes will eventually lead to bigger changes and that can have a huge effect on your health and our planet!

To make more conscientious food shopping purchases, consider these questions:  Is the food organically grown?  Was it grown locally?  What are the farming practices of the companies you are supporting?  How far does it travel to get to you?  How fresh is it? When produce is picked, it begins loosing its nutritional value immediately.  If you are choosing meat and poultry, how is it raised and treated, and what is it fed?  If you choose fish or seafood, is it wild caught or farm harvested with sustainable practices?  How much packaging surrounds the product?  How long is the list of ingredients, and can you pronounce all the words? (Fewer ingredients is best, and you want real food, not chemicals.)

Educate yourself on the meaning of terms such as natural, organic, grass fed, grass finished, etc. You can do a search on the internet, as there are many sites with good information on food labeling, including the FDA site.

There are many good books and movies to help you educate yourself about becoming a conscientious shopper, and here a few of my favorites:  In print: The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and In Defense of Food, by Michael Pollan; and Permaculture: a Designers Manual, by Bill Mollison  On video: Food Matters; Fast Food Nation; Food Inc.; The Future of Food; Fresh; Home — This is a free movie available by download online. It is shows the role our farming practices have had on world poverty and soil depletion [www.youtube.com/homeproject].

The two best resources for purchasing food conscientiously are your local farmer’s market and your local food co-op. You can ask questions and get to know your growers and their practices. Most food co-ops have a wellinformed staff that is happy to answer your questions.

When it comes to purchasing your food, it is becoming more and more important to be conscious and aware.

What you eat affects your whole body, mind and soul.

The ancient art of Dowsing is alive in the 21st century A conversation with Frank DiCristina

rank DiCristina, BBEC, SHS, is a certified Building Biologist, Master Dowsing Practitioner and Sound Healing Specialist. He became a true believer of the unseen after his personal dowsing training with his mentor, the late master Slim Spurling.

Frank frequently lectures on dowsing of the earth energies and their potential biological impact on our health.

Frank also is a faculty member and instructor for the Institute of Bau-Biology and Ecology, an organization that teaches the general public and working professionals on how to create healthy, healing homes and workplaces.

Frank is a dowser. In the Midwest, that may bring to mind images of farmers looking for a spot with a forked stick to drill a well, but Frank has much more to say about it.

Tell us what dowsing is, Frank.

Frank DiCristina: Yes, “water witching”

is what most people in the Midwest think of when they think of dowsing.

Our uncles or grandfathers may have dowsed to find water using a fresh branch off the nearest tree or using a piece of bent wire. No one ever doubted their abilities to find a spot for that well using this method.

Dowsing for water has been used by many cultures for thousands of years.

Dowsing in its simplest form is a divination method for getting an answer to a question. The question is usually based on a yes or no answer. To receive an answer, one must connect with one’s Higher Self.

In other words, we need to let go of our ego and get out of our heads — allowing us to connect to our Higher Self, or Universal Consciousness.

Some people meditate, pray or do deep breathing to get answers. The point is to allow the answers to come from your Higher Self. These practices teach us to receive clear answers without getting in our own way. If we already know the answer, why bother to ask a question? The reason we

dowse is to get a true answer.

Sometimes we don’t like the answers we get. We rephrase the question or manipulate the results to get the answer we want. We can achieve amazing results once we learn to let go of the need to determine the outcome ourselves.

If a negative stress line is in our home environment, we can’t really get rid of these lines, can we?

FD: Dowsing helps us to find energy

lines in the earth. These lines run crisscrossed all over the globe. There are several types of tools I use to dowse. “L-rods” are used to point and give a direction. Pendulums are used for helping to make a decision. The pendulum is typically used with a dowsing chart. Information can be accessed more quickly using a dowsing chart. Knowing how to phrase the questions will give the best results.

Can a line be removed you asked?

It depends on where the lines lay, their strength and how many are crossing in that area. If someone’s bed is situated on a group of negative energy lines, my first response is, “Can the bed be moved?” If not, can the lines be moved or blocked? We always try to disrupt nature as little as possible. But if the lines are caused by something man made, then we may have to take additional steps to move them. The reason we try to move man made over natural is because we were the ones causing the problems in the first place. The natural lines are there

for a reason not known by us.

Man-made negative energy lines are caused by our interference with the natural order of things. Man has lost much of his respect for nature over the last few centuries. New interference lines are created by manmade things built upon the earth.

Cell towers, electrical substations and power plants are a few examples of this.

Farmers have known about these effects for years. Negative energy lines affect their animals and how they produce milk, lay eggs, grow wool, etc. Certain animals behave differently around these negative energy lines, as well. Cats enjoy being near them and dogs will avoid them, for instance. Farmers will often take steps to reduce these interference lines and stray voltage pathways. In the urban environment, however, we have lost touch with nature and these things often go unnoticed.

What are some of the most common problems that you’ve discovered that people have with their homes or environments?

FD: Due to our lack of knowledge

and involvement in how the earth and our electro-biological systems are connected, humankind has more illness than ever before. We are often medicated without knowing what is causing the illness. These forms of environmental stress do not cause the conditions, but they do help to magnify them.

One of the most common issues I have seen is insomnia. People are not getting the rest they need to heal and rejuvenate their bodies. The body is amazing. It can heal and repair itself if given the time, nutrition and most importantly, the rest it needs. Rest is essential for the body to repair itself.

Without the ability to repair itself, the body eventually gives up and allows the misdirected cells to attack the body. This is when illness is created.

Other symptoms of environmental stress are headaches, body aches, muscle tension, cramps and digestion issues. When I dowse a person, I can see stress lines in their auric field. I have developed a technique to find these stress areas on a person’s body and help to repair them. ach month I attend a forum in which intuitive and medium Kathryn Harwig channels her guides, the Light Collective. At the December meeting I asked the Light Collective to predict the major changes we will experience in 2011. This is what they had to say: “The major event we see happening in 2011 is a continuation of what has already started, which is that more people will evolve intuitively and become, you would say, more spiritual. We would say real. We find this to be an exciting time. We also believe it affects many of your institutions in ways you will find perhaps not so exciting. Many of your corporations and other businesses were set up to not honor this. Once all beings become aware that you can know everything about everyone, it becomes rather disconcerting for people.

There are benefits, but it will not be all wonderful.

Some institutions that you have come to rely upon may not exist. This is not going to happen all in 2011, but we’re setting a stage for you. Many of the things that you rely upon will be different. For example, more people will work for themselves rather than for others. This is a thought that seems foreign to most people, but that is the way it was 100 years ago. It is a new thing to have the majority of people in the world working for other people.”

This prediction has profound implications. Once “all beings become aware that you can know everything about everyone,” we will no longer have secrets. We will be forced to confront our secrets and the fears that lie behind them. I believe this will be a major step forward for humanity, because we will finally be released from our fears. As the Light Collective says, “You have a choice.

Your choice is to be free of fear, or your choice is to be haunted by fear. It is time to release yourselves from fear.”

In preparation for the coming increased intuition and resulting exposure of our secrets, I believe it would be wise to begin dealing with our secrets and their accompanying fears now by taking the following steps:  List all of your relationships: spouse or lover, family, friends, neighbors, work colleagues, etc.  For each relationship ask, “Am I keeping any secrets in this relationship?”  For any secrets you discover, ask: What am I afraid of? Why am I afraid? Possibilities are fear of rejection, fear of losing power over someone or something, fear of being fired, fear of not making as much money, etc. What might happen if I reveal this secret now? What might others do? How will I feel? How might my current life be affected?

Once you have become aware of your secrets, what you are afraid of, why you are afraid, and have thought about the possible ramifications of revealing your secrets,

Flower essences: Vibrational medicine

A

s the days lengthen and the buds begin to appear, we find ourselves wanting to be outside. The natural world beckons, and our bodies and spirits want to respond, because we know at a deep level that the natural world can heal and rejuvenate us.

We are particularly drawn to flowers. The concept of healing with the energies of flowers is relatively new in our era, but the Australian aborigines and other native peoples have long known of flowers’ healing properties. Paracelsus also knew about them in the Middle Ages.

Since Dr. Edward Bach’s rediscovery of flower essences in 1930’s England, there are now thousands of essences available from all over the world. Because the healing energies of flowers can be carried in water and bottled, we are now able to use them anywhere and at any time of year.

Essences are readily available in most natural foods stores. They are usually taken by mouth, in the form of a few drops from a dropper bottle.

Dr. Richard Gerber refers to flower essences in his classic book, Vibrational Medicine, as an energetic form of healing comparable in importance to acupuncture and homeopathy. Note that flower essences (also known as flower remedies) are different from aromatherapy. Essences have no fragrance (except for the aroma of the brandy that is usually used as a preservative). Flower essences are energy medicines; they are not herbal or biochemical. Biochemistry is not the only means of healing!

Flower essences are known particularly for their ability to assist with mental, emotional and spiritual

healing and growth, although they can also be helpful for physical difficulties when those are rooted at the mental and emotional levels.

Essences are gentle and safe for use with adults, children, animals and even plants. They can be used both for long-standing problems and for first aid. The usual dosage is two to four drops, as frequently as you need them.

If you’d like to try using flower essences, here’s how you can start:  Get a bottle of one of the “first aid” formulas (e.g., Bach Rescue Remedy, Healing Herbs Five-Flower Formula, Alaskan Soul Support, Australian Bush Emergency) and use it whenever you need emotional first aid. Carry it with you, so you’ll have it available. (I used to use the Bach Rescue Remedy routinely in the car with cats who were going to the vet; it calms them down!)  Find the book Flower Essence Repertory, by Kaminski and Katz (usually available where essences are sold; also in many libraries), look up whatever issues you’re dealing with (like “worry,” or “grief,” or “procrastination” or “self-esteem” or “stress” or “concentration and focus” or “abandonment,” read through the

brief essence definitions under the issue you’ve chosen, and choose an essence or two to try. It’s best to use only one, two or three at a time when you’re just beginning.

This allows you to notice the results more clearly.  Take the essences for as long as you need them.

For a stronger effect, take them more frequently. Notice what happens; often insights emerge, as well as deeper issues. Sometimes you need different essences. When the shift you want has taken place, you don’t need to keep taking the same essences indefinitely.  If you need help with a difficult situation, or assistance with long-standing issues, it’s best to work with a flower essence practitioner who is also a counselor.  If you are sensitive to alcohol, a practitioner can make up a dosage bottle with a different preservative.

Remember, you can start immediately to try out essences for yourself. Being able to support your own health is important for your personal empowerment, and the essences can help greatly with your mental, emotional and spiritual wellness. a

Due to the current abundance of fear in our society, it may not be wise to reveal certain secrets at this time.

For example, prejudice against gays and the fear behind it is very high right now. Revealing this secret may mean being fired, tormented by colleagues, classmates, or worse.

Whether you reveal your secrets now, or wait until others discover them with their increased intuition, you are better prepared for the coming change. You are aware of the secrets you are keeping in your relationships, you have confronted the fears behind them, and you have thought about how your life might be different if you reveal them at this time.

I believe others’ reactions to discovering your secrets will be quite different once they become more intuitive. Everyone will know everything about everyone.

Everyone’s secrets, prejudices, feelings of hate, and the fears behind them, will be revealed. To function successfully in this new environment, we will all need to acknowledge these fears and release them. Since all emotions are based on two emotions, love and fear, by releasing our fears, all that is left is love.

We cannot expect to be healed by a doctor, health practitioner or energy worker and not do anything about what’s going on in our homes and offices. The bedroom is the first place to focus on. It is important to get this room clear to protect us from these damaging geopathic energy fields.

I have heard that dowsing is a lot like Feng Shui, but more for the body. How are these two fields related?

FD: Feng Shui, also known

as the Chinese Art of Placement, is now mostly thought of as a method for improving “luck” by harmonizing your home environment with local landforms and energies.

Dowsing can be a foundation on which Feng Shui rests. Dowsing is used to find the noxious energy lines and centers so that the placement of a new construction will be beneficial. When one is building a house, for example, Feng Shui could be used to choose a site for the house and its orientation.

Dowsing could be also be used to see if something does not belong there or is harmful. Both modalities work hand-in-hand when used properly. a

Ancient shamanism gets results today

With the problems we are all trying to cope with, many are seeking answers through various spiritual practices that traditionally have offered knowledge and healing from the realms of non-ordinary reality. This spirit realm can provide information and guidance not available through purely logical means.

Shamanism has been practiced for thousands of years, and it can be used now to address the practical problems we all face in our daily lives. Problems like not having enough money to pay our bills, much less save for college or retirement. Major life changes of marriage, starting a family, and dissolving a relationship can cause anyone to question their judgment and feel powerless. And then there are health conditions that can be challenging or incapacitating.

Central to the ancient system of shamanism is the shamanic journey.

This is a technique to travel to the spirit world, to meet and work with helping spirits and ask for guidance or healing. Shamanic journeying in and of itself is a fun and enlightening experience. It allows access to other worlds and realities, to knowledge previously hidden and to insights previously unattainable. It is possible to get personal answers from helping spirits through direct revelation, where the journeyer interacts directly with spirits to gain information, guidance and insight.

Some of the situations that can be addressed through journeying include:  Problem-solving: You want to ask

a question about a problem in your own life that you have not been able to resolve through conventional methods.

This may involve a distressing career or relationship situation or a decision that must be made.  Guidance: You are contemplating a lifestyle change and need to consider aspects you may not have thought of.

You will gain insights and be able to set priorities.  Personal Growth: You want to determine your mission in this lifetime and ask for confirmation that you are on the right path.  Healing: You feel powerless and out of balance and want to re-establish control and harmony. You need to integrate physical, emotional and spiritual healing.  Contacting Your Spiritual Helpers: You want to maintain a relationship with your helping spirits so that you can trust the information you receive from them.

In ordinary reality, to empower someone is to give them the authority to do something. In shamanic terms, the concept of empowerment is giving an individual the means to access their own spiritual guidance with the aid of compassionate, helping spirits.

Whatever it is you seek, the practice of shamanism gives you the power to fulfill that need for yourself.

Let me be clear: shamanism does not take the place of professional help.

In fact, it often works best when used in conjunction with modern accepted therapies such as psychotherapy, counseling, hypnotherapy and medical practice, to name a few. But using the guiding and healing techniques of the shamanic journey can restore balance and harmony to our lives, with peace, serenity and confidence. The Dream that changed the Art World

O

n September 22, 2003, artist Julia Watkins awoke as a different person.

The world she now saw seemed so unusual. It looked different, smelled different and felt different. Moreover, as she looked out her bedroom window it seemed to pulse with a life and energy she had only vaguely sensed when she created her impressionist landscape paintings.

Thinking back to her past night’s dream, she remembered floating without a body over a landscape made of outrageously beautiful, translucent energy swirls. They flowed through and around her and seemed to move, changing shape and color with her changing thoughts and emotions. It was like she directed the creation of the landscape with her energy.

Then through her dream she felt a warm presence…so many presences, people who seemed so familiar, like she had known them forever. They came to her without shape, in light and energy and filled her with an overwhelming sense of love, joy and peace.

Flood of memories

Suddenly she experienced a flood of memories…people, lives and worlds where she had lived.

She remembered making a decision to come to earth to fulfill a great purpose — to help us understand the importance of beauty. Her mission was to teach us how to infuse our

surroundings, our art with an energy that conveyed spiritual beauty to our deepest senses. She realized that as a child, she knew all about her mission and was able to speak with loved ones from the other side. But somehow, as she grew into adolescence, she had forgotten.

She awoke and painted the scene from her dream. She named the painting “First Dream.” From that day forward, she could sense and paint the energy in everything she saw. She decided to call her style “Energism.”

She took her painting to Denver, CO, where she had some

The Illusions of Self

ho do you think that you are?

A collection of memories, the titles you’ve received? Your pain or trauma that you think defines you? Your race or sex, the compliments or insults that you get? Does your name represent the self that you’ve gained?

Do you associate yourself with these times or your assigned purpose, reason or rhythm?

Who are you, your spirit or soul and the baggage that they hold? Or the stories that you’ve been told? Are you your beliefs that give you relief?

You decide who you are at any given time, whether you are aware of it of not — and yet, that still isn’t you; that is a mask that you wear. The canvas is blank in there, and you “paint on” what you see, feel and hear — yet, you are that emptiness before it happens. You are holding the space while the life is being painted, and you are that “Undiscovered Country” after the paint has spoiled and faded.

When you play a game, you are not the board, pieces or object — yet, you are completely involved, much like watching a movie; life is as such. Some people say that you are the spirit or soul, but they too are pieces on the game board of life. So who are you?

You are not…until you choose to be — and even then you are simply expressing… something out of Nothing.

That’s what most people don’t get. I know, it IS hard to realize. The material is drawn out of an abstract space as all things are. We create what seems to be necessary and it is received by that which needs it. It is like the marriage between stimulus and receptors, but outside of the framework of time, which came first, if any?

Here is a simple path to personal freedom:  Realize that you are not all the stuff that you carry around.  Get rid of the stuff that you don’t like: people, places, things, situations and circumstances.  Stop reacting to your beliefs and those of others about race, gender, culture, etc.  Allow yourself to be free of all preconceived notions of self and who you think that you are supposed to be and make choices based on what you feel and know is right for you.

Most of the world (construct) was designed by foolish men with archaic ideas, beliefs and doctrines. They had ways of classifying things that simply make no sense. We are told what to think, what to feel, what to believe. I say empty

the whole archive…then decide.

We are made to suffer the inane classifications that breed the illusion of substance, and we are thereby trapped within these false perceptions. There is the way things actually are, and how we are trained to see them. The key is our ability to shift reality accordingly.

Ask yourself:  Is this the experience that I want to be having?  Did I create this or was it created for me?  Does this have anything to do with who I really am?  What is it that I am really feeling, wanting and needing?  Am I prepared to listen to myself?

The view finder is within. All else is a painted-on façade like a set of a film. When you are clear about your own inclinations, then you can design the true life that you want. There is a good chance, if you are being true to yourself, that it doesn’t quite fit the set parameters.

I want to tell you this: Create it anyway. As you redesign yourself, the world changes… we need that; it’s a good thing.

I speak to you from experience. If I accepted what was handed to me, I’d be an amputee in a wheelchair suffering the memory and anger of loss. Not so much the leg, but what I could have been and have become! I would have felt that. I know he would, because I feel him.

Really question your idea of self. The very idea of self is an illusion, especially if you can identify it as something, like my spirit, my soul, or even my self (myself). I feel that you are inexplicable and within which we call the unknown yet, you can articulate experience and extrapolate from that space without fitting into the boxes that we have predesigned for us.

Expand beyond what you’ve been told and unfold into, through and beyond your own inclinations. Be bold! Defy the norm and allow the true you to be born. This was the promised land and it sucked, this construct! Let’s make another one up. What/ who do you want to be, what do you want to see in this story untold?
