My first memory is of blue and green radiant, beautiful angels sitting on the floor beside me. My parents are worried. They fight about doctors and whether I will ever walk. My mother lifts me by the hands while my father holds my feet on the floor. In this way, I am standing. Wrong. Wrong. I know this is wrong. I cry because I cannot yet speak. The angels move in closer to me. They touch my legs with their glow and hold my fisted hands in theirs. Their billion crystals of glimmering light hug me. I want to lift my arms to them, to crawl into their laps, but I am dangling here between my mother and father, and cannot move. I hear my parents yell and I hear my baby voice cry. Rising slowly amidst, or inside, all the noise comes a silent certainty. Without tragedy or mistake, the angels somewhere in my chest say, “You will not walk this life.” I stop. I smile. I am not afraid or confused. I am to walk with the angels this life. Holding a Butterfly An Experiment in Miracle Making

First of a two-part interview with spiritual teacher Lynn Woodland

Read Part 2 of this interview at Edgemagazine.net ince 2006, with the publication and broadcast of The Secret, much attention has been paid to the universal Law of Attraction, which suggests that we can have our heart’s desires if we put our attention on them. But Lynn Woodland — award-winning author, international teacher, and human potential expert with a 35-year career in transpersonal psychology, human motivation, and mind-body psychology — says there is more to manifestation than affirmations or envisioning can ever bring forth. In her new book, Holding a Butterfly: An Experiment in Miracle Making, which will be released in midJanuary, she writes: “Popular movies like What the Bleep Do We Know?! and The Secret make the Law of Attraction look like an easy way to have everything we want. And it really is that easy…except, of course, when it’s not, when no amount of affirmations or visualization techniques will budge life circumstances that feel hopelessly out of our control.”

In an interview conducted with Lynn at her Minneapolis home, she offered a glimpse into a process of miracle making that, on the surface, seems downright complex — and paradoxically, as simple as letting go.

How do you define “miracle?”

Lynn Woodland: A miracle, as

I define it, is an event born in unconditional love. It really is rooted in love. It has a win-win outcome. It is where things just unfold through serendipity rather than through effort, and they also have a way of just stretching our imagination open to what is possible.

A Course in Miracles defines miracles as a shift in perspective, from fear to love, and I totally buy into that.

In my way of looking at miracles, they give rise to incredible events and outcomes, but they really are about that shift in consciousness. That’s what differentiates miracle making from simply practicing manifesting techniques that are about using intention and a focus in a specific way to call forth an outcome.

Manifesting techniques work some of the time for some of the people. They tend not to work consistently, and they often work with some kinks in them. A funny story: I knew a woman many years ago who started practicing an affirmation of, “My next boyfriend is rich, my next boyfriend is rich, my next boyfriend is rich!” She would

just write it and say it, and it did really produce immediate results. She attracted a new relationship.

The man was not wealthy, but he was named Rich. It worked like a charm.

Manifesting techniques often are just the product of the limitations of our personality and what we can imagine for ourselves, and they often draw from some of the subconscious doubts and limitations and hidden agendas that we might not be very conscious of.

Miracles are when we really let go of “I want what I want and I want it now!” and have this direct experience of love, of God energy, and then things just start to unfold in the way that is maybe what we wanted, but maybe just something really better.

Why do you call this an experiment?

LW: Because the whole book is set

up to draw readers into a here-and-now immediate experiment. I base everything in the new science that explains some of the spiritual principles that have been taught in metaphysics 101 throughout the decades. These principles now are starting to be validated by science. I offer some of the science underlying the principles, and then I invite readers to imagine that we can bend time, we can bend space — and truly we can. A lot of research underlies that now. We actually can join in consciousness with every other reader, which has a very amplifying effect.

A lot of current teachings are out of date. I think they came out of the 1980s, which was an era that was very much about the “me consciousness.”

What are some of those teachings that are out of date?

LW: The idea of sitting down with your copy of The Secret

and making your vision board and going into your own room and practicing your own techniques so you can get what you want. In the 1980s a lot of these techniques were introduced in a popularized way, and I think they were colored by the era, which was about, “If we’re clever enough, we can have anything.” It was very chic to have it all and to be a little cut above the herd.

Now, in these times, we are seeing a collapse of that

way of looking at life, and we’re finding out that good has to come through “we consciousness.” During the day as I listen to news radio, I hear so many commentators use the phrase, “We’re all in the same boat.”

There’s something very important about recognizing that in order to find prosperity now, we need to do it together. The experiment I set up in the book helps us to experience joined consciousness here and now, even with people we don’t even know.

There is a quote in your book to the effect that there is only one mind. Is that part of what you’re tapping into?

LW: Yes, because with it there’s such

an amplified effect. I have been working with this amplification in my experiential group work during the past 35 years, and I have found that when people get together and join in this place of unconditional caring for one another, it takes them places that they couldn’t go alone. It is more effective than individual counseling, which I used to do way back when.

What I do in this book is a step beyond that, because I set out the premise that we can join not just in the here and now with a group of people, but we can join others across time and space. Someone who may be reading my book next year may have already sent love to you, just as we are sending love forward to others in time and space.

There’s something kind of mindboggling in it all that makes us wonder, well, what are the limits? So, I set it up really as an experiment, because I’m not sure what the outcomes are going to be. I don’t think we’ve quite tapped into who we can be yet.

We hear about healing miracles and miracle recoveries from disasters, but would you say that we are all creating small miracles every day in our lives without being consciously aware of it?

LW: If you go to the Course in Miracles

definition, that a miracle is a shift in perception from fear to love, I think anytime we forget anything but this instant and the experience of love, we are in a miracle. Maybe something just comes together easily for us that we expected to be difficult. Maybe something shows up that just seems just very serendipitous and coincidental in a wonderful way. Maybe we

don’t even connect it to that instant of love.

I think the instant is the miracle — and we do experience those frequently. And when the miracle happens, it results in a ripple effect on the physical world around us, whether we recognize the connection or not.

What can our readers do to open them up to the miracle process?

LW: A lot of people are focused on

prosperity: “I want it, I want it, I want it, I want my prosperity now. I don’t have it. I want it, I want it!” What I see as being the key to opening up not just our individual prosperity, but our collective prosperity, is to really look at our connections to other people.

When we go into scarcity, we tend to isolate ourselves and freeze up. We disconnect. We might feel ashamed.

And yet, I feel that we have collectively manifested the experience of scarcity to learn how to be interdependent.

So my tip — to support your own prosperity and well-being and to help the whole collective experience of the world around you kind of rise out of it — is to look at how you personally may have contributed to the whole “me consciousness” thing that was our downfall. This is not as obvious as you might think, because sometimes it’s simply about being caught up in our own scarcity that we don’t reach out to our neighbor, or we’re not there to support somebody else, or we don’t reach out for help.

Give a lot of attention to questions like, “Who is there for you?” If there is not anyone, start cultivating those networks. “Who are you there for?”

If it is so easy, then why do so many people feel the Law of Attraction isn’t working for them?

KIM EISEN: I hear that a lot. I think the frustration comes when it isn’t working the way they want it to work, despite being so diligent and purposeful about it. In the larger sense, it’s not their fault. They are trying to fight with their brain-neuron connections and unconscious beliefs stemming from societal and familial programming, which run over 95 percent of our life. CATHRYN TAYLOR: Absolutely! The Law of Attraction always responds to whichever emotional part of us is doing the attracting!

If our relationships feel unfulfilling or are nonexistent, it is useful to explore “who inside” is doing the attracting! When I attract what I want, I know my competent, illuminated adult is running the show. If not, as you suggested, Kim, there

is a battle raging inside. Most often it is the inner child who, out of fear, is “distracting us from attracting” what is desired. The Universe responds to the distraction.

Consequently, we have a duality — what we attract is less than we desire, but matches what we fear.

This is why using energy tapping to neutralize these “distractions” is so powerful. It successfully addresses this battle. We do not have to deny feelings such as fear, doubt or shame. That just pushes those feelings back into the unconscious. When we state our challenging feelings as we tap, they dissipate. It clears our energy field of distractions. Then, if we tap as we state positive, self-affirming statements, we reinforce a vibration that more accurately matches our desires. What are your thoughts about that Kim? I see so many people reading self-help books, visualizing, using vision boards, etc., but most end up returning to the comfort of their “unconscious” belief system. Frustrated, they lament, “The Law of Attraction isn’t working for me!” But, as we both have witnessed, it is always working according to our true, unconscious beliefs. We can’t fool the universe. Believe me, I’ve tried!

I found, both with myself and my clients, that using the combination of EFT as a tool to rid what’s in the way and then purposely using the Law of Attraction is truly a match made in heaven.

When we’re not getting what we want in life, it’s only because that daunting, underlying belief system, which is based on our past experiences and programming, is not congruent with what we want. We may call it blocks, saboteur or apathy, but no matter what you call it, it’s frustrating. Our override process is to cause distractions in everyday life to protect ourselves from disappointments. The magic of EFT is that we can neutralize that energy associated with the blocks or disappointments quickly. This allows us to automatically expand to a higher attraction vibration, which is congruent with what we want to manifest. Cathryn, how do you see it?

learned is that there are only two primary keys when working with the Law of Attraction. Yet, each requires purposeful attention and just a little effort to get the rhythm of it. It is much easier than you think. Those who have tried everything without success didn’t get the whole story. They just got pieces of the puzzle here and there, tried them a bit, got frustrated and quit. So, when we clear ourselves we come from a place of pure inspiration, it doesn’t feel like work at all.

How can this help change our life? Because we are pure energy, then each time we release non-beneficial beliefs, our energy flow changes and everything else in our life changes, as well. We then easily feel inspired — passionate. We manifest what we desire and deserve.

Many ask “Who will I be if I change?” Yet, the real question is, “Who do I want to be?” My ultimate goal is happiness in whatever form that takes. Isn’t that really what we all desire?

Yes, I think that desire is universal, and the results of this combination can be universal, as well.

When I feel out of sorts, and I tap, I attain a state of peace and grace. Each time I do that, my trust in my ability to succeed grows. We will always have some discomfort. t’s a fact that our emotional health plays a vital role in our physical well-being. Every day we experience how our body responds to emotions. Our hearts pound when we’re frightened, our faces turn red when we’re embarrassed, our palms become sweaty (or our tummy aches) when we’re anxious and many people have numerous physical responses when they’re stressed. Stress can cause indigestion, teeth-grinding, tinnitus, immune system disorders, hypertension, respiratory ailments and much more.

While some may seek help for emotional problems, the majority of people suppress or ignore their emotional issues. Left untreated, negative emotions can have a devastating impact on our long term health, including ulcers, heart ailments, depression, asthma, auto-immune disorders and even cancer. In fact, many medical professionals now say that unresolved negative emotions are responsible for 85-95 percent of all illnesses!

The good news is that in the past two decades a new “Energy Psychology” has been developed. 4 Simple steps to success…with ease

E

very one of us has the power within to do what we love to do for a living, and to be successful, as well. There are four simple steps to achieve your dreams in life — even if you’re lazy, inexperienced, overwhelmed or financially challenged: 1. Dream — It all begins by daring to dream.

Everything ever created first started as a dream. At first, our dreams are just insubstantial bits of imagination, delicate and easily lost, but as we continue to focus on our dreams, they become more and more solid, until they eventually become clear goals, and finally become intentions.

Here’s a simple way to discover that dream and get started with the process of creation: Take a sheet of paper, and write “Ideal Scene” at the top. Imagine five years have passed, and everything has gone as well as you can possibly envision and imagine. What does your life look like?

Take another sheet of paper and write “Goals” at the top, and list every goal you can think of for the next few years. If you could do, be, or have anything, what would it be? Then take another sheet of paper, and rewrite each goal as an affirmation, as if it is now coming into being. Begin (or end) each affirmation with the words “In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way…,” then state your goal: “I am now becoming successful doing what I love to do.”

Sometimes add the words “in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all.” These are powerful words to repeat. Keep repeating your affirmations, especially whenever doubts, fears, or anxieties arise.

2. Imagine — Now just imagine how every one of your goals could possibly come into being. Take a sheet of paper and write “What Ifs” at the top. Then write your goal and start listing different possibilities that come to mind: What if I did this? What if I did that? What if this happened? What if that happened?

Simply explore possibilities at this point. Let your creative mind wander free. Try to list several different “what ifs” for each goal. There are so many possibilities to imagine!

3. Believe — As soon as we dare to dream, as soon as we have the courage (and it takes courage) to imagine how we could possibly achieve those dreams, doubts and fears inevitably arise. How do we best deal with them?

Just express them as clearly as possible to yourself, in simple words: “It’s so hard to succeed.” Then repeat an affirmation that directly counteracts those limiting doubts and fears: “In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, I am now creating total artistic and financial success.” (You can add, “in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all.”)

Every time you affirm something like this, you’re creating a powerful new belief that will over time overcome those old, limiting beliefs that are underlying your doubts and fears.

4. Create — Now we’re ready to bring our dreams into reality: For every major goal you have, write a plan, on just one or two sheets of paper. It doesn’t have to be a perfect plan; you don’t need to know all the steps necessary to reach your goal. Put on paper the steps you need to take to begin to reach your goal.

Then take the next obvious steps in front of you to keep moving forward with your plan. Keep focused on your goal. Be persistent. A one-page plan is powerful, because it sets your powerful subconscious mind in motion.

Conscious Eating for R adiance , Longev ity & E volution

First of a four-part series hat if we could increase our longevity by 20 to 50 years or more? Many schools of thought say that we can, and conscious eating may be one of the most impactful things we can do to live a longer and more radiant life.

It also contributes to the evolution of our consciousness and the health of our planet.

Conscious eating is about being aware of what you consume. Conscious eating is about contemplating what you take in. Conscious eating is about adopting an understanding of the effect your eating habits have on your body, mind and spirit and the world as a whole.

Let’s start by looking at food as fuel for the body, mind and spirit. If you put the wrong fuel in your car, it does not run efficiently. The same is true of your body. It needs fuel that it can identify with to run efficiently. All the processed, packaged, artificial and fast foods at our disposal today are not identifiable to the body. They cause hormonal imbalances, disease and disharmony in our bodies, minds and spirits.

Being “conscious” means to be aware, awake, alert and mindful. We have learned to eat on the run, in the car, on the bus and in front of the TV. How often can you say that you are truly conscious and honor what you eat?

If you earnestly want to become more conscious, evolve, be radiant and live a long, quality life, it will take some discipline and lifestyle changes, but the payoff is well worth the effort. Here are some things to contemplate as you start your conscious eating adventure: • Be aware that light is life, and live food is packed with the sun’s energygiving light and radiance. The more live food you eat, the more radiant you become. You also become clearer of your life purpose and mission.

• It is recommended by many raw foods advocates that we take in a minimum of 51 percent raw foods, and more is even better. “Studies show” that after eating cooked food (above 118 degrees), our blood responds immediately by increasing the number of white

blood cells. The white blood cells are our first line of defense and are better known as the “immune system.” After testing many different kinds of foods, it has been found that if the foods were not overheated or refined, they caused no such reaction; the body merely saw them as “friendly foods.” If these same foods were heated at too high a temperature, they caused a negative reaction in the blood.

Researchers also found that chewing food thoroughly lessens the harm.

• Food is energy! When you have a meal, be conscious of what kind of fuel you are consuming. Optimally, your food will be grown locally and be organic. Be aware of over packaging, fast and processed foods. They have no life to them and are dead energy!

• Be conscious of your emotions when you eat. Your emotions can affect how your food is digested and absorbed.

Also, notice if you have a particular emotion that triggers a food craving.

• Prepare a meal fully awake and focused on what you are preparing.

Consider where your food came from and how it was grown. Sit down and enjoy your meal, chewing 30 to 50 times. Be grateful and give thanks!

ighly acclaimed director James Cameron (Avatar) teamed up with Amazon Watch to produce a short feature “A Message from Pandora” to spotlight the battle to stop construction of the massive Belo Monte Dam on the Xingu River in the Brazilian Amazon, which thousands of local Indigenous people have vowed to resist, citing its potential devastating impact on their communities and the rainforest environment.

The indigenous tribes who inhabit the region say the Xingu River is sacred and that the Brazilian government is violating their rights. Together with the riverbank settler populations, they are determined to defend their sacred river and their way of life and are asking the world to join them in stopping the dam.

ome people wonder if wintertime depression — or Seasonally Affective Disorder (SAD) — is “real.” To those who may have doubt, I say, “Hey, buddy, it’s below zero outside! The inside of my nose freezes when I’m outside for more than one minute!”

Seriously, our bodies are getting about 1/20th of the amount of sunlight we get in the summer. We don’t have nice fresh food or flowers from the garden. The heated air is dry. It’s hard in the cold to get all the movement and exercise we need, so our bodies stiffen up. SAD as a physical condition is very real. Some people’s constitution causes them to react more strongly to the season’s challenges than others.

wintertime is tough for you, because you feel much more depressed, lethargic and/or irritable. You may have physical symptoms, such as uncomfortable changes in digestion, appetite or sleep. It can be more difficult than usual to concentrate and accomplish things.

Holistic treatments for SAD include light therapy, exercise, sauna, flower essence therapy, energy work, stress management & psychotherapy as needed. I’ll address each of these very briefly.

Light therapy means that you use a product to give your eyes some fullspectrum light. This can be achieved by using full-spectrum light bulbs in your house. The bulbs need to be full spectrum, not just the light blue bulbs that reduce the yellow spectrum. Many people who suffer from

SAD make the investment to purchase a full-spectrum light box. This provides more intense light therapy than just using the light bulbs. Don’t feel like this purchase is out of your budget. There are many different models in varying prices ranges — even light visors. Check on eBay and Craigslist for used bargains.

The cold can really slow down your body’s chi (life force energy) and all of your physical systems. Exercise and such practices as regular use of a sauna become imperative to keep things moving. I had never been in a sauna before I moved to Minnesota. Now, any gym I belong to must have one. Energy work like Reiki or Qigong also can work on a different level to keep your energy moving, despite the months-long deep freeze.

ou might be wondering why more people are diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.

From my research, a number of reasons emerged. Americans are eating significantly more processed foods, most of which contain gluten, than they ever have in the past — coupled with fasterpaced, multi-tasking lifestyles. Both of these factors compromise the digestive system. In addition, doctors are more aware of these digestive disorders and are testing more frequently for them.

The following are some common questions about gluten sensitivity.

What’s the difference between celiac disease and gluten sensitivity?

Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity are managed similarly, in that people with these conditions must or should remove gluten from their diet. It’s important to note, however, that there is a difference between these two medical problems.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition, where the body’s immune system attacks normal tissue, such as the intestinal villi, in response to eating gluten.

Because of this, people with celiac disease are at risk for malabsorption of food in the GI tract, resulting in nutritional deficiencies. However, a person with gluten sensitivity usually does not have severe intestinal damage, thus he or she is not at risk for these nutritional deficiencies, but they may have mild-to-severe digestive discomfort such as bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, or cramping.

What is gluten?

Gluten is a glue-like protein found naturally occurring in wheat, spelt, kamut, barley, rye and sometimes oats (oats are often contaminated with gluten). Also, keep in mind that white flour is simply refined wheat flour. Gluten is one of the most complex proteins consumed by man. It has very large molecules relative to other food molecules and for this reason it’s difficult for the human digestive system to metabolize.

How do I get tested for celiac disease or gluten sensitivity?

You can ask your doctor for a blood test and/or intestinal biopsy to determine if you have celiac disease. Keep in mind that you could still be gluten sensitive and not have celiac disease. An effective way to identify non-celiac gluten sensitivity is to do an elimination diet. Take gluten completely out of your diet for 7 days (you must be strict with this) and introduce it heavily on the 8th day. If you are symptom free, then you aren’t sensitive to gluten.

How can I benefit from a gluten-free diet?

If you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, it is imperative for your health to eliminate gluten. If you’d like to be glutenfree simply to improve your health, you may experience the following benefits: better cholesterol levels, improved digestion, more energy, clearer thinking and weight loss. These benefits are based on eating gluten-free, whole, natural foods, not packaged “gluten-free foods.” If you don’t have gluten sensitivity, much of the value of introducing a whole foods, glutenfree diet is coming from improving your diet in general.

How can I reduce or eliminate gluten from my diet?

Below is a list of whole foods that are naturally gluten-free. As I teach my clients, the most important indicator of whether a food is right for you is how your body feels after eating it. No perfect way of eating works for everyone. Listen closely for your body’s messages.

A gluten-free, dairy-free, whole food recipe

Yam & Black Bean Burritos This combination of ingredients is so satisfying — a little sweetness with a little spice! Eating the filling with a side of guacamole and organic corn chips is so easy and delicious. The type of salsa is noted, because it turned out really well, but feel free to substitute your favorite brand. Keep in mind to use yams, not sweet potatoes. Yams are bright orange on the inside.

2 large yams, baked & peeled 1 TBS olive oil 1 large onion, diced 2 TBS seeded and chopped red bell pepper 1 small jalapeno, seeded & diced 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced 1 cup of diced tomatoes 1 cup tomato salsa (Glen Muir - medium) 1 tsp chili powder 1 tsp ground cumin 1 (15oz) can organic black beans, drained and rinsed 2/3 cup chopped cilantro 2 TBS lime juice ½ tsp sea salt ¼ - ½ tsp ground black pepper 8 brown rice tortillas

Bake the yams at 400 degrees until soft. Let them cool while you prepare the other ingredients. (A variation to this recipe is to bake the yams until they are almost soft and then cube them. Your choice.)

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sauté the onion in the olive oil until transparent, 3-4 minutes. Add the red bell pepper and jalapeno, and continue sautéing for another 3 to 4 minutes, or until the pepper becomes soft.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Peel the yams and add them to the mixture. Add the diced tomatoes, salsa, spices, black beans, cilantro and lime juice. Heat through. Season with sea salt and pepper.

Can my pain be my medicine?

he brain probably does not interpret the above statement and automatically think “chiropractic.” Most often chiropractic is associated with “cracking the back” to “get rid of back pain.” One might ask, “How is chiropractic related to expressing my authentic self?” What if the body had the capacity to better connect to the internal wisdom and gain a greater understanding of who one is?

And how can one gain access to this? It’s a simple lesson in wiring….

Once upon a time, humans had to run away from big scary creatures or fight in combat with the neighboring tribe. The physiology developed to support humans in these situations to ensure the survival of the human race. Any perceived lack of safety engaged defense physiology. Fastforward to today, and we are still hard-wired to have defense patterns but are now faced with more modern struggles. Paying the bills, chemical overload, and confronting feelings of worthlessness are all perceived ways in which one may feel life is threatened.

If life is perceived as threatened, there is a disconnection from the full experience. For instance, in the moment a car accident occurs, there is tremendous activity. The quantity of information is too much for the brain to process at that time. In that moment, the brain is only focused on what is needed to survive the event. Blood supply is diminished from the frontal lobe, the portion of

the brain responsible for complex thinking, and the immediate focus is not on the bigger questions in life. When focused on survival, the body goes into defense physiology, and the more primitive parts of the brain are predominately in control of one’s experience, body, and life. This works incredibly well for a shortterm strategy to preserve life but will not work efficiently to sustain life — let alone maximize human potential.

If one remains in this state, there is no choice but to live life in reaction, protection, and defense.

Capacity for healing

Eventually the strategy to disconnect no longer serves, as the capacity for healing becomes reduced. The ability to “find” the body efficiently is lost; if it cannot be found, it cannot be fixed. This becomes quite apparent to most people when physical pain manifests. Fortunately, this pain is a great opportunity to reconnect to the experience and reprocess and integrate the information that was not processed initially.

Here enters the concept of Reorganizational Healing introduced

• Practice listening to your body.

The Story Behind the Product

Sore athletes lead father to invent way to relieve pain

M

y journey started back in the late 1950s when my father began helping his athletes with back pain by using an osteopathic technique. He would place his hand under the sacrum, lift and hold for about 20 minutes until he felt a release.

The sacrum, a wedge-shaped bone in the center of the hips, often is referred to as the keystone of our anatomy, the center of gravity with all of the weight from the upper torso transferring through the center and down to the legs. Common sense will tell you that if this “keystone” is the slightest bit out of alignment, there are going to be problems or symptoms, ranging from sciatica, back pain, hip pain, knee pain, heel pain, and even into the neck and shoulders.

My dad continued this technique for years with many athletes who returned from college to have him repeat the hold, because that seemed to be the only thing that helped with their back issues.

He finally decided to create a device — Sacro Wedgy® — that would mimic what his hand was doing — isolating, cradling and elevating only the sacrum. I watched people come to our house, relax on the Sacro Wedgy for about 20 minutes and leave feeling amazing relief. That’s when I decided I would keep this commonsense invention in the family.

That was over 20 years ago. I started by literally stopping one person at a time on the street if I saw them walking in pain. I listened to thousands of sufferers describe sciatica and many other

debilitating symptoms. Each person is so different, but the common thread goes back to a simple muscle imbalance. That is what we concentrate on — helping the body gently return to balance. There is no quick fix. It takes time for most problems to get as bad as they are, so it will take time to reverse the process.

With the help of my Dad, we’ve created a system of a natural dual traction stabilizing both ends of the spine using the Sacro Wedgy under the sacrum and support under the neck. Gravity does the work and you just relax. Correct the posture to help relieve painful symptoms.

I now market this simple device worldwide. I provide continuing education for massage therapists because they, along with other professionals, are still using their hand to hold the sacrum. You can’t imagine the feeling I get when someone calls or writes about how much relief they got from just relaxing 20 minutes a day on my dad’s invention. I truly believe if people would start using this system on a regular basis, they would not only help correct problems, but prevent problems from occurring.

She floats through the Universe Coffee Hut and orders a tall, dark cup of twilight. A Mercury Comet carries her to the beach by the bay; she spreads her shawl on the ground where grass and sand blur. It was early a.m., her favorite time, when the fiery yellow sun and shy, coy moon exchange glances in the pale iris sky. She sips the spangled twilight slow, pausing when she’s connecting with something, as she does in the morning. The ocean air, rolling in from a point where the only land is underneath deep water, cools her face, dissipates the remaining steam from her open cup, fluttering breath from a blue mother. For her, all of the elements in her life melt like a sandcastle; magic ones surround her. She warms her hands on the wax cup, feels the honeycomb dimples on the amber wrap holder, savoring each swallow down to the bitter brown. In this moment, the sky clock winds down and balance regenerates. After she empties her cup, she gazes into the bottom; tiny stars shimmer among earthy dregs.

I traveled as a lonely caterpillar trying to find “me,” “Maybe,” I thought, “if I change my looks, others will like what they see.”

So I spun a protective cocoon around my body and mind And I stayed far away from those who would judge me for a long time.

I felt secure in my new home, but only for a little while, I began to feel too safe, emotions began to pile.

“I can’t take much more of this!” I cried from inside. “I’m going to burst!”

I struggled to get out. “I need some help or else it will get worse.”

Help never came, I thought of giving up, but I knew I could not, “I need to break out of this hard cocoon, but I’m stuck in a knot.”

I sighed. “Maybe I need to love myself before my soul can shine.”

I took the time to listen within and came up with a new sign.

I knew all along I could break my cocoon, I needed to try, So I pushed with all my might to break the tie.

I looked at my wings and smiled; to my old self I could say goodbye, Out from my old, secure place emerged a beautiful butterfly.

“I did it, I did it!” I shouted with glee. “I broke through my shell.

I must fly away because I have many new stories to tell.”

I spread my wings to show my true colors and flew away free, And that’s the tale of how a caterpillar became the new me!
