A holiday smoothie Food First

by Nutrition Julie The holiday season is here and with it comes a variety of food and drinks that may not be on your normal menu. If you are feeling stuffed, bloated and know that you’ve made some questionable choices, don’t worry! There’s always a solution!

One of my favorite strategies is to have a day of detoxifying smoothies to undo any damage done. The recipe below is one of my favorite holiday time smoothies.

Cranberries and apples are a perfect detoxifying duo this time of year. Full of antioxidants, cranberries are excellent to support the immune system and assist in cleansing your lymphatic system. The sweetness of the apple balances the tart cranberry taste and provides the fiber to keep everything moving out. Add in the super alkalizing benefits of spinach and the anti-inflammatory benefits of ginger and you have a concoction that will have you feeling energetic and ready to tackle the next holiday season task or event.

CRANBERRY ZING SMOOTHIE

1 cup raw cranberries, fresh or frozen 1 cup frozen mixed berries 1 red apple 1 handful fresh spinach 1″ piece of ginger, peeled 2 cups unsweetened coconut milk

Now is your time to shine From the Editor

by Tim Miejan Your soul came into body to experience everything this earthly incarnation has to offer — and that, my friend, is a lot to consider. In our untold number of lifetimes, we have seen and done it all, and incredibly, there is even more unfinished business on our itinerary.

Yes, I know you have your personal bucket list. Perhaps you want to see the Grand Canyon, go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef or listen to a live London Symphony Orchestra performance before you return to Spirit. Perhaps you want to find the child you put up for adoption so long ago, or maybe you want to become enlightened but are not sure if you’ll ever get there.

Myriad distractions and fears keep all of us from doing, seeing and experiencing all that we desire, not to mention having enough money and time to get it all done.

But as we move into 2017, it feels right to turn a new direction, away from the comfortable routine and toward your Self in a way you’ve never experienced you before.

It’s time to get real.

True love affair It begins with that love affair that may not have ever gotten off the ground: the one with yourself. We are advised to make a special effort to nourish a relationship with our partner or spouse, but when’s the last time anyone told you to spend even more quality time with your Self?

When’s the last time you looked in a mirror, deeply into your own eyes, and told yourself, “I love you?” Don’t you deserve a big bear hug from your Self? When’s the last time you wrote a love letter to you? And yes, emails to yourself will arrive unopened for you to read with fresh eyes!

When is the last time you closed your eyes and went into your heart and witnessed the incredible richness that every such visit provides if you breathe and let go, deeper and deeper, into the experience? When is the last time you shared gratitude to the intricately complex body that propels your soul through this earthly experience every day?

days existing without being fully aware of all the miraculous things going on in every moment — within me. I take walks by myself and treat myself to infusions of food that I like and sounds that bring me joy, but these outer ventures are only the tip of the iceberg.

Who we are Every human body is a multi-dimensional vessel that not only recognizes non-verbal signals from others but has the ability to communicate deeply far beyond this third dimension if we choose to make that connection. If the truth be told, we are much more than we think we are.

And each one of us is much more powerful than we think we are.

So where do we begin? In the heart. It begins by expressing love for Self and extending that love to everyone and everything that makes up our world. It begins by becoming a beacon of love that no longer sees people as separate, or as enemies, for having different beliefs or skin color or even ways of expressing love than you do. It begins by seeing every person in your world as possessing an infinite soul of love. Yes, maybe they don’t know who they are yet, but you know who they are, so treat them as such.

I’m no different than you. I bellyache over politics and the direction of my nation, like others do, but it’s time to adjust course. It’s time to be love, to be a campaigner for oneness. a

Spirit inspiration for challenging times

Apotheosis: Winter Solstice & 100-year Anniversary Celebration The sacred space at Lake Harriet Spiritual Community (LHSC) in South Minneapolis is turning 100 years old this month. The community is inviting the public to attend a special observance at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, to note the turning of the year and the turning of the century mark of the building.

The structure has truly been an intersection of the heavens and earth. During the evening, the community will explore the esoteric architecture built into the design of the building, and it will celebrate how that design has influenced what LHSC has become.

Modeled in part after the design of the Pantheon of Rome, the energy and intention of that structure has manifested in some of the primary tenets of LHSC’s mission. Just as the Pantheon was built honor “all gods,” so too has LHSC sought to “honor all sacred belief systems.” Just as the Pantheon was connected to the “Apotheosis” — the deification — of the Emperor, so too has LHSC’s focus been to assist each individual more fully connect with and realize their own divine nature.

Through message, music, meditation and ritual, participants of the celebration will work with the energy of the building to align themselves with the energy of the season and set intentions for the New Year — for ourselves, for our community, for our country, and for our world.

Music for the event will be provided by Bevani, a classically trained flutist and growing YouTube sensation who has more than 6 million views on her channel.

This event is a fundraiser for LHSC, with all proceeds going to the building fund to continue to be good stewards of the sacred space that has sheltered a spiritual community and inspired so many people over the years. The suggested donation for the event is $10. Those who donate $20 or more will be given a commemorative coin of the building’s 100th anniversary.

by Marianne Soucy This article is for those who feel as if dark clouds have covered the light after the November 2016 presidential election in the United States. The election has been characterized by an unprecedented amount of negativity, mudslinging and divisiveness, and many people, both within the United States and around the world, are fearful of what the future might bring.

How do we get to a place of renewed hope?

In a Sacred Spirit Journey, a variation of a shamanic journey, I reached out to my spirit guide and asked him for advice and inspiration. This is what he said: “See the beauty in the little things,” my spirit guide says. “See with your heart and live from the heart. Whatever the outer circumstances, always start with yourself.

Find the center and stillness within, connect with your heart, for it all begins with you.

“Every step the world takes out of the darkness must be taken from within each person. Start with what you can do something about — yourself and your life. How do you interact with others?

“Nobody will ‘save the world for you,’ but as you embrace the responsibility for your life that is yours, then also know in your heart that you are divinely guided and supported at all times. There are many of us who reach out with compassion to those who need us and open their heart to us.

“Don’t leave it all to others to fix the world, and also don’t take it all upon yourself, but recognize and embrace the power that is within you. Step into that power and move forward step by step with faith and gratitude in your heart. Each day take time to go within — and in the stillness of the heart, experience the peace and see the light. The dark clouds that fill up so much of your vision now: Watch them drift away and reveal a clear bright blue sky with the most magnificent light.

“Imagine flying up in that blue sky. Feel the freedom of your

flight. See the beauty above and below you. Watch the sunlight glistening on the water below. See the dolphins jumping. And, as you do, feel your heart jump with joy; feel the hope return, and with the hope, the inner strength and motivation to walk in light, to be the light, and to fill the world with your light.

“Meet others from the place of the heart and see the light that shines in them. Hold the vision of peace, not only for yourself, but for the world, especially for those who cannot see the light but seem stuck in the darkness.

“To those who are stuck in the darkness unable to see a way out: Reach out with your heart, and open your heart to the help, the love and the light that is being offered to you from others in your life and that you meet, but also from us compassionate spirit guides and from the beings in nature: the plants, trees, animals, each flower. They all hold the peace for you. They all offer you their peace and their light.

“As you go about your day, do it with an attitude of appreciation, and see how hearts open around you. Keep holding the vision and the light, and let it shine so that it can be an inspiration and a path for others to follow. Out of the darkness and into the light.”

The Singularity of Consciousness

by John Nelson The singularity is coming, but whether it is the point where computers become super intelligent, as predicted by Ray Kurzweil (and we merge with them in his cyborgization of humanity scenario), or where humans become super conscious, as envisioned by Pierre de Chardin, is the pressing question or at least in some circles.

This debate has explicitly framed my writing, mostly metaphysical novels, over the last 30 years. My recent effort, I, Human (Cosmic Egg), is set in the latter part of the 21st century where most humans have neural implants that bestow 200-plus IQs but have atrophied our feeling and intuitive functions and lead to massive emotional breakdowns that threaten the very fabric of their world.

More conscious The debate comes down to: what makes us human, or what is the apex of humankind’s development. The evolution of the neocortex and its higher cognitive functioning has taken us from hunter gatherers to an advanced, technological society in 10,000 years, but it has not resolved our warring tendencies that led to the death of more than 100 million people by genocide and war in the 20th century alone. So one wonders, or dreads, whether an increase in average intelligence by the use of psychopharmaceuticals and neural implants — the dream of transhumanism — will make us a more conscious, tolerant species, or simply make us crazier. Or, is the apex of human development our self-reflective or self-aware consciousness, which is of a different order. And will that exploration or development lead to a more humane human, or as I posit in an earlier novel, to our own self-transcendence or an evolutionary leap?

Another way of framing this debate is to explore the difference between an analytical intelligence and one informed by intuition. To quote a 1919 essay by Einstein: “The creation of empirical science is along the lines of an inductive method. Individual facts are selected and grouped together so that the law that connects them becomes apparent…. [However] the truly great advances in our understanding of nature originate in a way almost diametrically opposed to induction. The intuitive grasp of the essential of a large complex of facts leads the scientist to…basic law or laws.”

It was this deductive method that led to his breakthrough theories on relativity and electrodynamics. In fact, just weeks before the submission of his landmark paper on relativity in 1905, Einstein was stumped and told his colleague Michele Besso, “I’m going to give up,” when he had his eureka moment discussing the problem with Besso, and realized that “the concept of time was my solution.”

emotional collapse And the aims and methods of transhumanism, as I surmise, will make its advocates more analytical and less intuitive and feeling-oriented, until (as I posit in my novel) it will lead to emotional collapse.

We are feeling and intuitive creatures, as well as mental ones, and the former distinguishes us as much as the latter.

In fact, there is a Jungian formula that predicts this imbalance: we ascertain facts by either intuition or sensing, and process them by either thinking or feeling. And an overemphasis of the thinking function will atrophy feeling, and in turn, as I would assume, do the same with sensing over intuition.

“The field shall expand and your galactic brothers and sisters shall come forth in greater numbers to assist you all in your journey to enlightenment. They shall emerge from within you, from within your societies, and show themselves to those who have eyes to see, and are ready to embrace their truth.”

“With these galactic forces will come a great awakening within your energy bodies, new forces will move within.”

They showed me a picture of new energy centers in the body that will begin to open, allowing us greater expansion into our spiritual selves and greater vibrational alignments.

Many mystics and spiritual teachers have been saying that we have entered the longawaited time of ascension. Those who are attuned have been feeling a dramatic shift in the energy, especially since we went through the portal in 2012.

But you may ask, where is the joy and bliss to be expected of a new age of consciousness? Clearly, we are still in the midst of a great deal of darkness and chaos. Hatred and division have infected our political system. Those who thought, as did I, that Bernie Sanders’ candidacy represented a positive current of change in response to an overall shift in consciousness now must deal with a new president named Trump. Does this mean that ascension has been canceled and we are moving backward?

I’m here to report that the answer to that question is no. Pluto has been transiting through Capricorn since 2008, inducing dramatic currents of change. The French and American revolutions took place under this sign. The prevailing energy promotes the stripping away of façades and revelation of dark secrets. There is no longer any place to hide for those who manipulate through lies and deceit.

For a new order to rise, the old one must first fall. The process of doing this can be quite painful and chaotic. Political revolution certainly can be an effective means of toppling established order, but fortunately that is not the only means. Things have been changing around us in any case.

Whatever you may think of him, our newly elected president is an agent of change. He may not be consciously guided by enlightenment, but powerful currents of change are in charge. What better way to deal with darkness than to expose and confront it. Each of us has the capacity to shine the light within us and to, thereby, transform any situation. The new reality appears in pieces, and eventually connects to form a cohesive web.

The months ahead may be turbulent; economic collapse is one possibility.

Rather than being ruled by fear, try looking for the currents of light that are weaving around and forming the outlines of our new reality. It is surely coming.

Jean Wallis, at jeanwallis.com When I tuned in to my guides, asking about predictions for 2017, I was surprised to hear predictions for each of us as individuals rather than predictions regarding world events. I asked, “Is that what I am to

write about?” I got an affirmative answer, so here it goes!

The year 2017 is a number 1 in numerology. This is the number both of the individual and a unified collective. It is by going inward that we are going to be affecting the outer world. There is a saying I find pertinent here, “The strength of the wolf is in the pack, and the strength of the pack is in the wolf.” We are going to be experiencing the duality of this dimension in a whole new way. Rather than the outer duality, although there certainly will appear to be some, our new dualistic experience will be more about balancing two poles rather than opposing two poles.

It is more about balancing the masculine and feminine, for example, rather than the feminine pushing against the masculine, or vice versa.

This year, the brand new shiny 2017, is the time for us to focus on Self — to clear our own slates, to focus on what’s best for us, to stay out of fear, judgment and righteousness. It is time to release our focus on the outer world. No matter what is going on “out there,” where we have no real control, it is time to choose to be “in here,” where we have complete control of our reaction to the outer. We can choose how to experience our immediate reality.

“Energy flows where attention goes.” If we strengthen ourselves, we will strengthen the collective. We create peace by being peace, not fighting for peace.

Gratitude, community and the Next Phase A Pleiadian Message

Beloved ones, we greet you. We put out a call to each one of you to be willing to open up to the changes that are in front of you within your lives and to consciously move and align with these shifts as they take place. Know that what surrounds you in your life is the mirror creation of what is within you, so in order to instigate change within your surroundings you need to open up to a conscious adjustment of your perception.

An essential ingredient to bring about a change within this process is to investigate your deepest feelings, which have been instrumental in creating thoughts and actions and are ultimately made manifest to play out through your own arena of daily life.

A first step is the need to take responsibility for your own creation, taking full ownership of your experience. You are not a victim. You have never, in Truth, been a victim in any circumstance. You each get to choose how long you will suffer, and this suffering is directly related to your own self-judgment and the belief that you are not good enough.

An important aspect to bringing a new level of consciousness into your daily life is opening up into the process of being in a state of gratitude for all that you have created within your life at this present time. As you consciously give thanks for your experiences, an alignment naturally begins to take place within you, activating an internal energy of self-empowerment.

Gratitude allows you to begin to actively channel energy into your life, and then you get to witness how you can create, alter and adjust your creation at will. An energy anchoring on the planet is designed to play a powerful role in supporting you with this self-empowered action, enabling you to accomplish changes and adjustments that you deeply desire for your self in day-to-day living.

Remember the way you can make adjustments and initiate change to your creation is by first acknowledging and accepting what you have created, what is right in front of you now. Know that you have never been a victim. Then you can begin to anchor the changes that your heart desires in your life.

Witnessing and acknowledging your self as you take this step is compelling; you get to actively and consciously take back your creative power. An aspect of your power in action requires a “letting go” of any need from the ego mind to try and work out, or control how it will unfold.

The next phase As you are being moved into this next phase of your evolution on Earth, a new design is being anchored on your planet in which you will begin to transcend the illusion that has held you in this limited perception of your self. These new revelations are going to be disclosed to you now. They are being given to those of you on your conscious path.

A doorway is opened. This is a destined revelation to return each one of you to a natural access point of an accelerated form of your Higher Self. These revelations will be accessible through the reopening of a series of energetic centers, which will reveal a deeper state of awareness of Truth to you. This process is being bestowed to you by your higher consciousness, through a destined Timeline. This is a multidimensional setting that is designed to reactivate through your systems.

You are being awakened, as if from a dream. Thought Code This Thought Code we are giving to you is to be activated through the thought of each individual at the time of the changing essence of New Year. The activation is accomplished by simply bringing the thought of the sound forward within you, and then each individual will consciously release it, sending it outwards to the collective energy at the moment of change of the New Year.

Prior to the time of the New Year, it will

be essential for your individual community to work with this Thought Code. You are to come together and start to work with the Code within a circle setting. Individually, you will each place the Thought Code into your circle, and that will naturally generate a light connection between you.

Allow the energy of the Thought Code to build within you. As you work is this way, you can release the Thought Code as many times as necessary until you feel the synergy of the light connection complete within your circle. Then at the time of the New Year, wherever you happen to be on the planet, because you have already aligned through your individual group circles, you can individually activate the Thought Code. Remember: this Thought Code is not a sound. The Code is simply brought up through your conscious mind, and then released.

Great celebration A great celebration will be taking place at this juncture within the Universal realms as you take part in this very essential and monumental happening.

Once this form of light is activated throughout the planet, the net will have been cast. This will anchor yet another aspect of your destiny mission. You will hold this imprinted patterned light within your heart, steadily anchored within you, for all of humanity. but we only need to look back to our own tattered history to realize how mental humans can rationalize the genocide of those “not like them” in as efficient a manner as any cold-hearted computer intelligence.

So, what is that “self” of a self-aware consciousness, or that ability unique to humans to step back and observe or “reflect” on what we are thinking and doing? As Indian yogis have been saying for thousands of years, if you can observe the mind, you are not the mind, rather what the Hindu Upanishads would call the “Self,” or the Buddhists call a conscious process.

NEW ADVANCES Of course, this is not a new concept to most of you, but it is the context that is important here. What happens if we only accelerate the ego/mind part of us with new advances in technology? Yes, it may lead to geniuslevel abstract thinking by a greater number of people and maybe even solutions to some of our pressing technological problems like the switch from a fossil-energy base to fusion power, etc. But, it could likewise create even more problems like more GMOs, suitcase atom bombs, designer bioweapons, etc. Because, unlike the touchstones of “God, nature and music” that led Einstein to reveal greater levels of natural harmony, these GMO scientists (and future terrorists) are driven by strictly utilitarian goals, regardless of their impact on the whole of nature, and dreams of economic or ideological paydays.

“Man is something that shall be overcome,” Nietzsche said, but his overman or superman mental concept was only distorted by the Nazis into Aryan superiority and its subsequent characterization of “subhuman” masses to justify the genocide of tens of millions of people. What has to be overcome (or put into perspective), which transhumanism would only accentuate, is the ego/mind. I need not get into definitions of this complex and strategies of containment here, since Eckhart Tolle in The Power of Now and A New Earth has so brilliantly elucidated the problem, the ego’s defensive and isolating tendencies, and its solution — more mindfulness — in simple terms.

So, I would ask, and maybe repeatedly here, that before we contemplate the “more than human” or “trans- or post-human” state of being and the technologies that would get us there, we must thoroughly understand exactly what we are accentuating or “overcoming.”

self-professed Transhumanist, he was asked by a perceptive interviewer: “Isn’t there a clinging quality to some aspects of Transhumanism? Isn’t it just ego trying to perpetuate itself? Transhumanists speak of ‘the Singularity,’ an envisioned time when technology makes people so godlike that they’d be incomprehensible to today’s humans. We want to extend ourselves into our physical and computational environment. We want to lengthen our life span and amplify our brain power. Isn’t there a lot of me [or ego] in Transhumanism?”

Hughes’ response was to cite the Buddhist view of nonself, or self as a process, not essence, which does not really address the question. Even if you don’t accept the concept of a self, a Buddhist is able to distinguish a “watcher” of the mind, which is the “essence” of mindfulness practices.

Now, a more psychological response to this implied self-indulgence attitude would be philosopher Mary Midgley’s assessment in her Science as Salvation of early 20th century “immortality” notions, which were later reflected in the tenets of transhumanism as “quasi-scientific dreams and prophecies…with self-indulgent, uncontrolled and power fantasies.” Or, the adolescent fantasies of male science geeks.

UNDERLYING CAUSE This is not to dismiss the ideal of improving the lot of people whose lives, to quote Thomas Hobbes, are “nasty, brutish and short,” although that has improved somewhat since the 1600s, if not the underlying cause. But, is popping a pill or getting a genetic makeover the answer? Will its recipients have really earned this privilege through years of conscious striving, or will they, like many millionaire lotto winners, go berserk and do the equivalent of “spending” themselves into a self-annihilation?

Everyone can embrace the prospect of longer, healthier lives, which is why yoga and healthy living practices have taken such a hold on the modern psyche. But, the satisfaction that comes from adornment and lifestyle improvement is short-lived by a rapacious ego that always needs “more.”

So, what will the unevolved ego do with 250 years of disease-free life? Probably build more edifices to its excellent self until it goes mad. Or, to quote, physicist Dyson Freeman: “The central problem of an intelligent species is the problem of sanity.”

Technologists like Kurzweil, who coined back in the 1990s “The Law of Accelerating Returns,” point to the generally accepted concept that technological progress is exponential. That is, if you place one grain of rice on the first square of a chessboard, and double the quantity with each square, by the 20th square you have a million grains of rice, and so on. This was codified in Moore’s Law first proposed in 1965 about

the doubling of components per integrated circuit every year, which has held true up until 2012 or so. But the technologists claim that carbon nanotubes will replace silicon wafers and keep up the exponential doubling of computer technology every year or even speed it up. Their conclusion is that within 20 or 30 years, this growth will lead to super-intelligent computers and sometime after to their merger with biological beings, or us.

They also claim that the quickening or acceleration of society is solely driven by technological advance, but every great “quickening” in human history has been driven by an inner collective desire for personal freedom. This has resulted, for instance, in the Buddhist Reformation of Hinduism, or the Protestant Reformation of Catholicism, or even the American and French revolutions.

QUICKENING OF SPIRIT I believe it is the quickening of spirit over the last 25 years for greater personal expression and interconnectivity that has driven innovators to create first personal computers, then the internet and smart phones. Yes, these are technological devices or systems, but what is driving them is humanity’s inner awakening and the need for connectivity, which also translates to our personal connection to our concept of a higher power, sidestepping the perennial middlemen of religion. During this period, as mentioned, we’ve also seen a huge upsurge in yoga and Buddhism in the West, both of which have an ancient tradition of quieting the mind or understanding that we are not the mind, but pure consciousness.

So, while I agree that a singularity is coming, and may even result in advanced computer intelligence, I believe the inner quickening is leading to a singularity or blossoming of human consciousness. Christmas Kundalini

by Chrism Christmas has a secret meaning that is available for those of us who are experiencing the Kundalini and for those seeking stronger validation of spiritual practice and the energetic understandings of spiritual awakening through the Kundalini.

Christmas and its symbols and themes echo strong similarities with the Kundalini awakening. Kundalini is a Sanskrit term that describes the dormant evolutionary energy that lies at the base of the spine. Much of the Kundalini ancient symbolisms reach far back into and beyond our recorded history. They have direct relationship to shamanism and the Paleolithic age when tools of the human intellect had not yet replaced the tools of energetic spirituality.

These are with us here and now in our current celebrations of Christmas outside of organized religion. In many ways one can understand the idea of the celebration of Christmas and the spiritual significance of Christmas, and these will often have themes that represent high spiritual activities and hidden understandings that speak only through our ancestors and their gifts to us within our DNA. The Christmas Tree This would be exemplified by the symbol of the pine tree being ornamented with lights and other beautiful decorations, with many gifts being placed under and around it. When we look at the top of the Christmas tree, we often arrange to behold a beautiful star or an angel at the top. We notice that the tree is a conifer and is triangular in shape. We understand the triangular position of the meditation pose that people will often partake of as they are within the Kundalini experience. To have the star or the angel at the top of the tree, at the top of the pyramid, at the top of the triangle, is a clear indication of divine Kundalini participation within the enlightenment of humanity.

This tree can be understood within the Kundalini context as the tree of life which is internally experienced as the spinal column. At the base of this inner tree are the gifts of grace to be awakened (opened) and experienced. Those are the very same gifts waiting to be accessed by awakening or opening of Kundalini, which resides at the base of the spine in humanity.

The pine cone of the pine tree is a direct symbol of our inner pine cone that we call our pineal gland. This gland has the properties of what is commonly referred to as the “third eye.” It has the capacities, within the Kundalini energetic experience, to bring about certain qualities or “gifts” that can include the visual 16 www.edgemagazine.net

appreciation of phenomena not normally available to a person without the Kundalini awakening.

Visions of lights and sights of majestic grandeur and the interwoven dimensions of the non-physical planes of creation with the physical can be visually discerned. The pineal gland of the human being is actually shaped similar to a pine cone, hence the name “pine e all” or Pineal. Typically it is with the awakened or Kundalini-activated condition of the pineal gland that many experiences of the fantastic and the holy can be experienced.

One familiar denizen of that dimensional blend would be the little people. These, in contemporary understandings, are called elves. Our ancient ancestors could see them and interact in many ways with them. The Kundalini-enlightened pineal gland can allow for these experiences even now.

But as it was then so is it now: there can be a need for a bit of assistance in bringing Kundalini into the activated state. Within the pine needles under the Christmas tree was and is a very specific helper. These helpers are the mushrooms that are red with white spots on the top and you see them typically under the Christmas tree.

This red mushroom with white spots, which often is depicted surrounded by Christmas elves, is the Amanita Muscaria mushroom. These are mushrooms that have a history of being non-poisonous and hallucinogenic when ingested and are symbiotic with the pine tree. That being said, never eat any mushroom that you do not know about or have not researched. A person can have very strong informative ecstatic experiences brought about by this fungi.

It can assist in the Kundalini awakening process of a typically temporary nature, similar to the jungle tea called ayahuasca. Siberian reindeer love to eat the mushrooms under the pine tree.

Awakened Pineal Within a Kundalini awakening perspective, we can see the symbol of the pineal gland being awakened or “in lighted” or enlightened from this gift found under the pine tree. When a shaman or medicine person would partake of such a “gift,” that gift would bring the visual experience and communication with such beings, like the elves, that a Kundalini person can see and interact with. This is what some of us within the Kundalini awakening have as visual appreciation and audible appreciation of aspects of the expanded reality. by Kim Eisen Sometimes an unwanted stress response to a traumatic (shock) experience is locked into our energy field and solidified by the accompanying brain neuron connections. This allows the response to replay itself over and over again — when it is triggered by just living life or during particular events.

Interestingly enough, it doesn’t have to be what some might call a large trauma, most notably from warfare, abuse, violence or accidents. It can be caused from smaller traumas — when something that was said or done “shocked” your system and caused a feeling of being unsafe, out of control, distrust, intense fear, helplessness, hopelessness or powerlessness.

Think of it as a “freeze frame” in your unconscious mind of a life experience. These freeze frames can be one or a combination of sights, sounds or smells that are encoded along with the memory in your electromagnetic (energy) field. While freeze frame experiences can be either positive or negative, like a memory of love or a memory of horror, the ones that can wreak havoc in your life — the ones that trigger unwanted responses — are the events that are negatively encoded.

Many people usually are unaware consciously as to why they had a certain hair-trigger response to something that was said or done, causing defensiveness, tears or intense inner feelings. But, they certainly know it’s happening — they feel it in their body, or in some cases, they just go numb.

The traumatic stress response (aka PTSD) can lead to depression, but not all depression is PTSD, or at least not how it is normally thought of.

Both, of course, are stress responses.

Yet, after working with hundreds of clients, the best I can describe it is “shock” — something suddenly going against everything known, imagined or wanted, whether it happened once or over a period of time. In that moment of shock, our world changed.

Depressed thoughts are usually the result of unspoken anger, which is unspoken sadness, whether it is directed at self or another. It usually  see RELIEF on p. 20

Magnificent mariners Spirit Leaves

by Janet Michele Red Feather Recently, in a conversation with Cedric Red Feather, I was reminded of the oceanic wisdom of a departed psychic mentor, David Godwin. Godwin affirms that, when we reach the other side, we will be asked three questions: How well did you love?  Were you generous?  Were you willing to let go?  The first two questions help redirect our energies outward to embrace others with compassion. In answering the third in the affirmative, sufferers of depression and PTSD would find release.

The third of these questions is particularly instrumental in the spiritual growth of those labeled with depression or PTSD. “It is, in fact, possible to let go of things,” Cedric urges. Red Feather, a Mandan Turtle Priest and Purple Heart veteran, does not say this gratuitously. He suffers from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, after having been blown off the top of tank and thrown several hundred feet through the air during an ambush and resultant firefight in Vietnam.

Sufferers of either syndrome often feel moored to the same painful emotions and memories. At some point, we need to let go. We need to change the story we have about ourselves and our lives. The memories may still carry an emotional sting, but we can change how we interpret the events and the myths we weave around them.

PTSD is a very real, identifiable cluster of symptoms and reactive behaviors. Still, as Cedric has acknowledged very recently, “People who suffer from traumas can get through them. We do not have to remain attached to the negative memories; at some point, we can decide to let them go each time they arise.”

Most of the time, what we experience actually results from reacting to our own thoughts and judgments. While we can’t control our emotions directly, we can control the thoughts we make in response to them. To do so, of course, takes focus.

There are things we all can do within our own spiritual cultures to ease our way over choppy seas. Meditation and deep breathing help immensely in the journey to gain control of our minds.

“Look at how traditional people lived hundreds of years ago,” Cedric points out, asserting with a wry smile, “There were no depressed Indians. Everyone had an identity, a role, a purpose in life.”

Yes, depression is real. Oftentimes, though, we allow a physician’s pronouncement to become a death sentence. I know of a woman who stays in her pajamas until noon and rarely leaves home. She finds it impossible to focus on long-term goals, like completing the book of poems she’s been writing for over six years. Diagnosed with an array of disabling conditions, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and chronic depression, she holds onto them tenaciously, presenting them to newcomers like bad calling cards. She is adamant that friends and family accept her conditions as intractable and eternal.

They are constantly asked to excuse her from activities or otherwise accommodate her frail condition. She remains determined never to let this go.

Whatever we focus upon increases: that is the core teaching of the Law of Attraction. Do we want to perpetuate the thoughts and symptoms triggered by the replay of past hurtful events? I’m not suggesting that depression and trauma victims are imagining a condition; people deserve validation for having bravely suffered and endured harrowing events and triggers in their lives. I’m urging that we invoke our free will. We have the unique ability to monitor and control our own thoughts. When we change our thoughts, we, in turn, change the way we feel.

Over the years, I have seen the way labels become a pervasive reality. Once we embrace a label, we cease engaging any personal responsibility for our own healing and affirm, instead, a sort of inevitability. Healing the brain naturally

by Warren King Depression and anxiety must be dealt with on many levels. For years I used acupuncture, herbs and homeopathic with varying results, but some people would not get better. The last few years I have really focused on the brain and all the newest research and have found that when you work on the physical level of the nervous system — plus the emotional traumas from the past that are lodged in the brain — you can, indeed, turn around most cases of depression, anxiety, PSTD and other brain disorders.

Many people start focusing on neurotransmitters as the first line of action for brain complaints, but I find when you work on more fundamental levels, you often don’t have to address the individual brain neurotransmitters. One of the first things to look at is blood sugar. The brain uses about 30 percent of the body’s glucose, and it needs a steady supply of it. If your blood sugar is going up and down like a roller coaster, then the brain can’t get a balance of its main food and brain function will suffer.

The neurons also need enough oxygen. If your hands and feet are cold, then it is even harder to get the blood upward into the brain, which may affect brain function. This is why some sort of aerobic exercise is important for the brain. The brain also requires stimulation. The brain is plastic, meaning that although it doesn’t produce new brain cells, the ones we have can keep building new branches and connections, which keep us happier. Don’t get stuck in a rut, learn something new, develop a new hobby, add something fun into your life. Chronic inflammation and hormonal imbalances also affect neurotransmitter activity.

If you have food allergies, this can affect your brain, as well. Twenty-five years ago I was in acupuncture school and I found that I was falling asleep in class and even while driving, I would get depressed and would only feel better after a nap. I was tested and found out I have a gluten intolerance. I cut out all wheat and the brain fatigue and depression cleared. Dairy is another

big one for many people. If you are depressed, try cutting out wheat and milk products, as well as simple sugars.

Stress and the fight-or-flight response in the body has a major impact on the brain. The adrenals make epinephrine and noradrenaline that are fight-or-flight hormones, so tools like yoga, qi gong and meditation are useful for so many people in our modern life.

Acetylcholine has to do with learning and memory. Serotonin has to do with feeling happy, calm and relaxed, so that is a target of most anti-depressants. GABA is an anti-anxiety neurotransmitter. Dopamine has to do with motivation, hope and self-worth and is involved with addiction. So many natural products, herbs and vitamins help neurotransmitters, so it is worth trying these — after you first address blood sugar, oxygenation and brain stimulation.

In some cases prescription drugs are necessary and helpful, especially with suicidal thoughts or severe depression or psychosis.

For the last three years, I have been doing a type of therapy called Quantum Neuro Reset Therapy (QNRT). In this process, we find that emotional trauma from the past affects certain parts of the brain and organs of the body. When the records are released, the core in the nervous system is let go and the body and brain start to function normally again.

encompasses self, familial or societal relationships. There was a sudden initial shock in which the person felt a loss of safety, love or approval, and it continued to be replayed throughout life. It can feel like an intense feeling of unworthiness or powerlessness.

With traumatic stress response, it seems to be tied to more life-specific event(s). Whatever was intimately traumatic for the person, big or small, the thing that matters is how the experience was encoded into the energy field. There are emotional similarities, especially with lack of control, safety and powerlessness.

In either case something is off and doesn’t feel good and it seems to show up in life by replaying over and over again. It’s not about judging what happened or the terms of severity. The only thing that is important is “how” you feel.

The good news is that the stress response can be changed. We call that relief. It won’t change what happened, but it can change how it affects a person’s life and those around them. It begins with taking back our power that was initially lost or given away. Relief is all anyone is really looking for. Just to be able to feel better again, to breathe again, to smile, to be happy.

How do you do that? I have some unconventional thoughts about this. If the event only took moments of time to register and encode (postively or negatively) in your electromagnetic field (and this applies whether it had happened once or over and over again), why would it take long to change the encoding? From my experience, it doesn’t.

or they eventually become neutral.

Thankfully, this is good, for we’d go crazy if we had to think about everything that ever happened in our life. We no longer think of them or are affected by them in the sense that they cause us stress.

Yet, how do you get relief from current stress responses (i.e. depression or traumatic stress) that seem to have a hold over you? We do this by working on neutralizing the negative (or unwanted) encoding in the electromagnetic energy field. That is where it all lies. Once it is neutralized and you have relief, your brain neurons will start disconnecting and re-forming new pathways and your life and your responses will be different.

Best of all it doesn’t need to be difficult or take a long time. There are many ways to do this, yet the one of the most holistic and efficient ways I have found after working with hundreds clients, is to be in the moment, address the emotions and/or feelings associated with what’s going on for a person and neutralize the associated encoding to offer relief. I use Intuitive EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping, which allows divine guidance to come in and assist in the healing process.

Do you care about feeling good?

by Theresa Nutt How many of you wait for that magic someday: when the stars have aligned…your to-do list is complete…when everything makes sense…when you know exactly what to do with your life…when you have transformed some more of your patterns and demons…and when everyone in your life is happy and fulfilled? So often we delay feeling good and live a lot in the past or future.

Feeling good is possible right now!

One of the gifts of this time of stillness is the realization that when I love everything that arises in my life, I have the choice to feel good right now. When I no longer need the conditions to be different or my reactions to be different, I have a lot of freedom in each moment. I have permanently given up any need to change or fix anything about myself. Each moment is joyful and if I can’t immediately find the joy, it is easy to embrace the feeling I am having and make a choice about how I want to feel.

Years ago I read the book How Much Joy Can You Stand? during one of my periods of devouring all self-help materials. I think at the time I really did want to find happiness and joy, but I thought it existed outside of me. When I had the right job, relationships, car, house, etc., then I was going to have more joy than I would know what to do with!

But lasting joy never came.

Right now in my life, when I have no certainty at all, I am realizing that I have more joy than I ever thought possible. What made this shift possible?

Tuning into every moment as it is and loving whatever is arising in me without conditions.

What can matter more than feeling good? If you think of yourself as a Divine being who is perfect, whole and complete, and if you realize that you are loved just because you exist, what could possibly be more important than feeling good in each moment?

It’s actually that simple. So, you can breathe deeply and stop waiting. Your perfect moment is right now, and right now, and right now.

I recently heard Sadhguru speak in Minneapolis and I was struck deeply by something he said (roughly paraphrased, of course): “We spend too much time trying to be a good person. That implies others are not as good. But, if we spend our time being a joyful person, what better gift to the world can we be?”

It is a fitting statement for this time in my personal evolution. I have made so many decisions based on what I thought was good or right. I have rarely made decisions based on what brings me joy in each moment. And when we are joyful, we are naturally more willing to connect with others, be generous, share love, shine and use our gifts in the world. Practices for feeling good Here are a few practices I know for feeling good in each moment: Celebrate everything that arises in you —  every thought, emotion, impulse. If you want a structure to help you do it, it can look like this: I am so good at feeling/thinking/doing (fill in the blank)! I am so incredibly good at feeling/ thinking/doing/ (fill in the blank)! I cannot believe how good I am at feeling/thinking/doing (fill in the blank)!

Start loving yourself exactly where you are  with whatever conditions are present in your life right now.

Start practicing the intention of wanting to  feel good in every moment.

Have gratitude for all that is going right in  your life.

I can’t think of anything more important than feeling good right now and maintaining a high vibration all the time. That is the essence of who we are anyway — energy beings. And, might I add, we are pretty amazing, fantastical, damned good looking, and playful ones! Enjoy this Earth journey. Holistic solutions offer help

by Debra Roinestad I am a survivor of severe child abuse.

Through divine grace, I somehow got through those terrible years. My childhood left me with overwhelming traumatic memories and occasional waves of depression. The holidays were especially challenging, since I had no concept of normal family interactions and traditions. As a young adult, flashbacks often caught me by surprise and drained my energy, leaving me fatigued and heartbroken.

The good news is that, over time, I realized I was no longer helpless. Then I began a journey to heal and nourish my mind, body and soul. It became clear to me that much of the suffering in my present was the result of memories trapped inside my body and mind from those past, formative years. My body was in a constant state of rigidity and tension. My breathing was quick, rapid, and shallow. This state of constant body arousal perpetuated my traumatic anxiety and depression. Once I was totally convinced of the mind/body connection, I explored ways to relax and alter my muscle tension, breathing and thoughts.

What I know now, after many years of practice and self-reflection, is that there is a natural flow between mind and body. Traumatic memory and depression are primal self-defense mechanisms and survival tools. The symptoms of trauma are not a sign of weakness but of strength. However, the key is to use trauma as the starting point of the healing process, and to not remain stuck in that state. Our brains have the amazing ability to heal and rewire, which is almost impossible to imagine when we are depressed and traumatized.

Healing the mind and body requires constant communication with our souls.

Everyone is unique and has a different rate of healing. An inner awakening can happen when we shift our mind towards positive goals. Here are some techniques that I have found helpful for restoring resiliency and recovering from trauma and depression: Moving Meditation: Tai-Chi, Qi  Gong, and Gentle Yoga — It is so important to reconnect the relaxed body to the relaxed mind. Moving meditation promotes a state of calmness through practices that are gentle and fluid. A few minutes a day may be all that is needed to release negativity and stay in the present.

Neurofeedback — This is a  wonderful way to calm the nervous system and help realign the signals in the brain. Find an app through your phone that you can download and use daily.

Find restful sleep by listening to Delta waves.

Contact and Self-Holding — This  is an excellent exercise to promote grounding and awareness. When we were toddlers, positive body contact through a loving parent was essential for thriving. Self-soothing exercises will help reintroduce this kind of gentle touch. I have found it helpful during distress, to place my hand on my chest in order to calm my breathing and restore security.  Nature — Surrounding yourself with nature is another wonderful grounding exercise. It promotes healing as it radiates positive vibrations. We need to grow, to expand, to embrace life, and nourish ourselves as we feed our souls. How I naturally healed anxiety, depression

by Berni Xiong Earlier this year, I reunited with my son after four years of being alienated from him by his father. The void I felt in my heart for years was finally filled. But confronting what had happened, the time we were apart also reminded me just how painful that whole experience was. Not only for me missing him all those years, but also for him being stuck in the middle — a position he should never have been put in.

As we returned to our lives, I suddenly felt the walls caving in on me. My mind raced with all the negative inner chatter about the things I couldn’t change. I cried.

I felt helpless. After recognizing my symptoms resembled PTSD, I decided to see a therapist for the first time in years.

Therapy and counseling have held positive connotations for me growing up. Since I was 10, I’ve been intrigued by the mind, personality and behavior. I remember making a promise that someday I would do work that makes a difference in the world.

Especially for people — like me — who never really felt they fit in. In 2008, I became a professional coach and inspirational speaker. Since then, I’ve helped hundreds and hundreds of people speak up, stand out, and change the world.

But, then, how was it possible for “someone like me” to get diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and persistent depressive disorder this year?

Anxiety and depressive disorders do not define me; they inform me.

I was actually relieved when I got the diagnosis. Mental health disorders can afflict anyone at any time. To turn a blind eye to it will do you a disservice. Through my professional work, I’ve learned that you’ve got to know what is at the heart of the matter to break through the blocks.

Mental health is no different.

Healing anxiety and depression is not a one-time event — it’s ongoing as long as I live.

I’ve tried and tested many ways to help heal my anxiety and depression over the last decade — before I even was diagnosed. The following are the most effective methods that have helped me. I’m not here to offer any expert advice on what will work for you.

In fact, don’t believe what I say. Instead, I urge you to be a student and scientist: get informed, test out these ideas for yourself, and then use what works for you: If you smoke, quit. I quit cold turkey  nine years ago. In addition to improving my physical health, I have since felt less moody and nervous.

Replace bad habits with nutrition and  exercise. I was a binge smoker and junk food eater. Both vices induced my stress and anxiety. If you can take a walk break, pack a lunch or get up and stretch periodically, you will feel physically better.

Talk to a professional coach, therapist  or counselor. It’s not fair for family and friends to shoulder the burden of being our sounding board. It’s not their job to “fix” us, and they’re unable to remain objective

inter-dimensional lifeforms can be seen and heard and they can see and hear you. Communication can be established. One must merely be a willing participant in forms of communication that are not common — forms that are of those “gifts” under the tree previously mentioned. Telepathy, clairaudience, intuitive knowing, expanded visionary capacities and healing are all aspects of the new forms of communication that can be established within the Kundalini.

We have Santa Claus. Within the Kundalini context, he represents the sacred male with Kundalini awakened. The colors of his clothing are common colors of those that represent right and left quadrants of the Kundalini awakened energetic anatomy. We have the deep red (sacred feminine) of the Santa Claus suit with the beautiful white (sacred male) of the lining and piping of the jacket and trousers indicating sacred male and sacred feminine in one body (the awakened state). We have the white beard and the red with white trim hat and boots the color of the Shakti soil.

He comes down the chimney bringing gifts. The chimney would be the spinal cord. The fireplace would be the base of the spine correlating with the location of the sacred fire of the Kundalini.

— it’s not a slight on them; it just is. Avoid resenting those you love most and get help from a pro.

Write. Holding in your emotions can  be physically ailing for your body. When you’re frustrated, sad, or inspired, write. It’s soothing for the soul and also empowers you to speak up and let things out.

Get an energy or intuitive healing.  There are many modalities of intuitive and energy healing. One example is Reiki energy healing. If you especially have a hard time meditating, this form of healing will help you become centered and relaxed.

Be still. Meditate. Do yoga. Sit in silence  near your favorite beach or lake. Find your sanctuary (internal or external) and prioritize a few minutes of stillness each day to quiet the inner chatter.

Help others. My favorite piece of advice  I received from life and business mentors is: Help others and expect nothing in return.

The reward is in the doing. The stockings hanging next to the fireplace within Kundalini are the feet of the awakening individual, as the Kundalini heat will often rush into the feet, as the red triangle of both feet and tailbone is completed.

This information is hidden in plain sight.
