There is compelling drama as the old reality melts down into chaos, yet there is immersion into the pregnant stillness of a world yet unknown. And impatient frustration reigns as we navigate between them.

As long as we are here, we’re still going to be active in the world, perhaps with more awareness than ever. We can be supportive of something without polarizing against what appears to be its opposite. Therein lie the practices of discernment and detachment.

The title of this comment reflects what I’ve been feeling over much of this year. I have found the transition between worlds to be challenging. The impatience and frustration grows from being clear that the old ways of being here don’t feel good and no longer actually work, while I find few places of comfort in the vastness of the unknown. The sense of never fitting into the old reality has only become more evident, and it’s a bit shocking sometimes to realize how diligently I tried.

At the same time, most of what has been known is disappearing with a curious process of showing its backside before being consumed by the flames of change. Everything stored or disowned is being released out of the unconscious.

Individually, we call it healing.

Tour of Ancient Egypt promises Adventure, Awe A two-week tour of Egypt can be an amazing experience. Dale and Sheryl Fisher invite you to join them next March 14-27, 2017, for a great adventure with a private yacht on the Nile, visiting ancient temples and the Sphinx and spending private time in the King’s Chamber of the Great Pyramid.

The Fishers have visited Egypt four times, most recently in October 2015. “We realized we wanted to do it again and bring others with us,” they said.

Participants will spend six days on a luxury yacht, the Afandina (see Afandina Dahabia on YouTube), and they will be guided by an Egyptologist with Quest Travel at the Karnak Temple and the Luxor Temple (also known as the Temple of Man) and six other ancient sites on the Nile River, and stand at the feet of the huge statues of Rameses II at Abu-Simbel.

The tour will then return to Cairo and the Mena House hotel, featuring beautiful grounds and views of the nearby pyramids on the Giza Plateau. The Mena House has hosted royalty, heads of state and celebrities. During the five days in Cairo, the group will visit the Egyptian Museum, where they will explore ancient Egyptian artifacts dating back to 4,000 B.C. “It is a thrilling experience to stand before the famous gold death mask of Tut-Ankh-Amun and the many other treasures that travelled with the boy king to the afterlife,” the Fishers said.

The tour will then travel to the step pyramid at Sakkara, the oldest pyramid, and visit the Giza Plateau with the Sphinx and the pyramids. A special private visit to the King’s Chamber in the Great pyramid also is planned. While in Cairo, other sacred sites with ancient Egyptian, Jewish, Christian and Muslim heritages will be visited.

“When we visited the ancient temples, we have had the thrill of realizing prior lifetimes at the sacred temples,” The Fishers said. “Many people who have had a long-term interest in visiting Egypt and never knew why will find answers once physically in Egypt.

It is quite amazing to suddenly ‘see’ the site in full color from thousands of years ago. We have enjoyed the leadership of our guide, who is an encyclopedia of Egyptology and gives us detailed explanations of the controversial theories about the amazing structures.”

The Fishers said tour is safe. “In all the time we have spent in Egypt,” they said, “we have never had a moment of concern. Quest Travel is the finest travel agency in Egypt and they take good care of us.”

How to Love Yourself

by Eric J. Christopher Recently while leading a group, someone shared that her goal was to learn to love herself, but felt it was an impossible task. Others agreed with this statement. Most of them were either bombarded with an endless barrage of negative self-talk, or they felt strong guilt from some past actions.

I offered that the easiest way to love yourself is to really know your yourself — to realize that you aren’t who you think you are. The “you” that you have a hard time loving isn’t really “you.” You are not your programming and conditioning.

Negative thoughts about self come from somewhere. They all have a beginning point in an event or circumstance. You’re not born with these thoughts, unless there’s a past-life influence, but even then they began at some point in that past life or before.

Sometimes the programming can be subtly and unconsciously passed down through the generations, with parents influencing their children based on how they were raised, how love or anger was communicated or not communicated.

Just like you can open the hood of a car to explore how it’s wired and how it works, you can engage in deep selfreflection to see how your programming and conditioning began. An effective way to do this exploration is to go within to access a higher state of awareness.

For example, if you have a strong feeling of guilt because of a past action, you could imagine floating above that scene and investigate what was going through your mind at the time. Perhaps you did something regretful because at the time you thought you were gaining or getting something from it, given the mindset that you had of yourself and the world at that time.

The only purpose of guilt is to point to what you could do differently next time, and in that moment of awareness you are doing precisely what your highest purpose in life is: to learn, grow, evolve and awaken.

The primary way humans learn is by making mistakes. So from the viewpoint of your soul, mistakes are only seen as an opportunity to grow, and in that moment of seeing, your soul is happy.

The highest part of you is timeless and guiltless; it doesn’t care how long

Just as you can tinker with a machine to make it run more smoothly, we can be aware of the amazing impact we would have on ourselves and the world if we released the negative thought programs that govern our life and replace them with clarity, confidence, creative potential and freedom — all qualities of our truest self. We’re not here to berate ourselves, or remain stuck and recoiled in fear and guilt, living from a false sense of self. We’re here to challenge ourselves to shine and thrive, to learn to live from our potential, and to experience that the joy of doing so feels better, freer and “more real.”

You are the infinite being that can be aware of a passing mood or thought, and investigate where beliefs originated. There’s a part of you that can be aware of your thoughts. Who or what is this “I” that can say “I” feel happy, and then can notice “I” feel sad 10 minutes later?

Thoughts, moods and beliefs can come and go, but the more permanent “real” you is the constant, unchanging awareness, forever anchored in the here and now, that can notice the mind’s ever-changing moods and thought patterns, like watching sticks or debris washing down a stream.

Eckhart Tolle says the next step in human evolution is to become aware of our thoughts, thus creating a gulf between “us” and our thought patterns. Therein lies the difference between suffering and liberation. It depends on where we place our identity: the ever-changing mind or the mysterious, expansive, silent awareness that can witness it. a Eric J. Some of us headed straight to Stephen King as teenagers, and now, as grown men and women, we stay up late and listen to scary stories of ghosts and goblins on the Twin Cities’ “Darkness Radio” or George Noory’s acclaimed “Coast to Coast AM.” Why do we seek out answers to the mysteries of life in the dark of the night?

And why do radio hosts devote their lives to bringing some semblance of reason to topics that chill us to the bone?

Dave Schrader, host of the popular and internationally heard paranormal talk radio show “Darkness Radio” from 9 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday on AM 1130 in the Cities, will be presenting “Exploration of the Spirit Realm,” a 90-minute keynote talk on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the 2016 Minneapolis Holistic Expo, presented by Edge Life Expos & Events.

Co-author of the book, The Other Side (2009, Houghton Mifflin), Schrader has contributed to TAPS ParaMagazine (The Official Magazine of SyFy’s “Ghost Hunters” show). He is frequently a guest speaker at related conferences worldwide, and has been featured on Paranormal Programs on A&E (“Paranormal State”) and Travel Channel (“Ghost Adventuress” and “Paranormal Challenge”). He’s been an active participant in hundreds of investigations worldwide and is a recurring fill-in host on “Coast to Coast AM.” Schrader agreed to let us delve into his mind for a bit to learn more about why he does what he does and what he will present at the Edge Life Expo this fall.

What was your most memorable paranormal experience?

Dave Schrader: The dream visitation from

my grandfather about a month after his

death. He came to me when I was at my lowest point of grief and delivered some of the most inspiring thought and insight into death and what comes next. That had a profound impact on my life. I was able to validate that it was more than a “dream,” as he gave me information about family that I had no way of knowing. That really shifted my paradigm.

When did you become interested personally in the paranormal and how did that manifest in your life?

DS: I truly believe the paranormal had an

interest in me first. I had visitations from my grandmother after her death when I was 3 and 4 years old. I had a Bigfoot sighting when I was 11 and lived in a very haunted house growing up — and in 2006 I had an encounter with a UFO. I think the supernatural is stalking me!

It has my attention, that is for sure. I also had a very supportive family that inspired me to ask questions and seek the truth.

What led you to be a radio talk show host on unexplained phenomena and the paranormal?

DS: My co-host, Tim Dennis, and I worked

together in college radio in Winona, MN on KQAL 89.5 FM when we were young.

He stayed in radio his whole life and I ventured off into sales, but eventually our paths collided when he worked for a station that had a slot to fill from 11 p.m. to midnight on Sunday nights.

We thought it would be fun to do a little talk show together. We both had a life-long fascination with the topic of the paranormal and thought it was a solid subject to investigate and research on air.

That was the birth of “Darkness Radio” on January 1, 2006.

You have traveled the world investigating claims of the paranormal. What stands out as far as your most remarkable findings?

DS: I am excited by the differing views of

life, death and the paranormal from state to state and country to country. There is always something new and interesting to uncover. I have had the great fortune to see haunted cemeteries, crypts, castles, hotels, asylums and prisons around the world.

What was your experience at famous locations that proved utterly disappointing in terms of not revealing anything at all to report on?

DS: I was a guest on the TV series “Ghost

Adventures” on the Travel Channel last year on an episode about a possible demonic and poltergeist haunting in Seattle, Wash.

It was a total let down to realize the people involved were, in my opinion, greatly exaggerating the extent of the haunting and, I believe, faking evidence.

Our investigation yielded no evidence

of any kind. The show did a great job of portraying the truth and did not over dramatize or exploit the situation. It was a great episode to be a part of in spite of the lack of evidence.

Why do you explore ghosts and take part in ghost hunting?

DS: I want proof that there is something

that survives these meat suits that we wear. That death is not the end of it all.

That fear has kept me awake nights since I was 5. I am now 49 and that same fear still grips me. I want definitive proof that we survive beyond physical life, so I will continue my journey and education.

Your show covers the duality of experience, from lighter topics such as quantum consciousness and synchronicity, dolphin ancestors and animal communication, to much darker topics like exorcism, demonology and satanic practices — and everything in between. Do you make a conscious effort to include a balance of “light” and “dark” on Darkness Radio?

DS: Our show was designed to do three

things: enlighten, educate and entertain, so we keep that in mind when vetting our guests. We also like to try and keep things light and educational even during the creepier topics, because we believe fear is tackled head on with education and light.

What current areas of inquiry do you feel are on the cutting edge in terms of what the public is aching to know more about right now?

DS: The focus on proof of the many claims

we cover is paramount to our listeners.

They demand more than just fluff pieces and folklore, so we try to give a wellbalanced look at fact and fiction of claims, often taking on the position of devil’s

advocate for and against certain subjects to give a better and more detailed understanding of those topics. We very rarely accept things at face value. We push for truth and answers where we can, and I think that has been a large part of our success.

What is your personal reaction to conspiracy theories — about world domination, about the end of the world, about ETs affecting the world — and the people who seemingly have their lives revolving around these ideas?

DS: That is a slippery slope and I have to

temper myself, because going too deep can bring on severe depression to me and to listeners. We are cautious about those topics and how we cover them. Again, we want truth but not at the expense of decency or respect to people involved in the stories, the victims.

Tell me about your radio audience and callers. Who are they and what motivates them to spend three hours a night listening to your show — and what is your relationship with them?

DS: I love these people! I love their inquisi-

tive nature and how they seek information from alternative sources, and I applaud our audience because they want to know more and see the magic and miracles of life that surround us. We make ourselves as accessible as possible to the listeners and we are open to dialogue and conversation with them.

That is how we believe real change takes place — people coming together and speaking freely and openly without fear of judgment, exchanging ideas and opening our minds, and theirs.

What will you be sharing with those who attend your keynote talk at the Minneapolis

Holistic Expo, and what message do you want to leave with them?

DS: I will discuss spirit communication by

trying to make it accessible and understandable. During my discussion, we will examine: What is a ghost? What are the common theories and beliefs? How do we open ourselves to finding the right answers?

I am very excited to speak with the guests and share with them. I want to leave them entertained and hungry for more knowledge, hopefully with a better understanding of the paranormal.

Is there anything we haven’t talked about that you’d like to share with our readers?

DS: Our time here is limited and precious,

so make the best of it. Live a life like there is no afterlife, because we need to learn and make the best choices while we are here. Once we grasp the fact that we need to be kinder, more loving, forgiving and understanding, I believe we will open a whole new paradigm shift that will leave a ripple effect and change the world.

With that said, it starts from within.

Make the best of the love and relationships in your life now so you don’t need to make amends with the dead. Leave the life you were given better than the way it was given to you. Shed the chains of anger, pettiness and aggression and embrace understanding — and the magic that surrounds you every day will become abundant and apparent. It is life changing. a

The Seeds of Truth A Pleiadian Message

by Christine Day Beloved ones, we greet you. You enter this month with another set of dimensional frequency changes. There is a new purpose activated on your planet, and we hold a platform for each one of you as you are called forth to come and take action.

A rapidly shifting interchange of consciousness is opening up within those of you on this awakening path. This unveiling will create the potential for a dynamic spiritual change within. Each one of you carries in your heart a living Seed of Truth, which is a natural part of your makeup, your spiritual heritage. The activation of your Seeds of Truth begins with a desire from you to open into the Truth of this union element with yourself and mankind. This exists within all life-force components within the Universe and is held like a sacred covenant through all humanity. The Covenant contains and mirrors the common bond of the God Consciousness element that exists in Truth.

Shift of consciousness The role of the activating seeds is to begin an energetic ripple that moves through your own consciousness first and then outwards to all humanity and beyond, within the entire Universe. Through these ripples is a pulsing that carries the Truth of your interconnectedness. This begins to create an energetic opening and holds the frequency of profound change — with enormous potential for the shift of consciousness for mankind.

Another significant element of these Seeds of Truth is their ability to hold steady the transmission of the embracing of your human aspect. Only then can there be a natural extension of that love moving out from you to other human beings on your planet.

This conscious action by you is about aligning and living the Truth of your interconnecting link to the God Consciousness element that exists and extending this to each one of the life force groups within the entire Universal community.

expanded consciousness. Links within your brain reactivate and enable these sacred communion connections. An expanded frequency of love within your heart cells is initiated through your action of acceptance and interconnection.

We, the Pleiadians, have been holding before you the sacredness of your Self, which has been waiting to be self-realized.

As you open up to humanity, you get to experience the full depth of the interconnection that exists within your own heart through the completeness of Self. This is the action of the divine connection made manifest through your full embrace of humanity. This is an aspect of your own sacredness unfolding. By embracing of your Self, and then moving that out to each individual, you begin to receive an abundance that arises naturally when you extend that love forward.

This frequency of love births through the seeds as you accept your place within the Collective God Consciousness. By receiving others, you receive your Self. You are ready to fully embrace this change of consciousness that the love provides. You are, in Truth, the love that you carry. Love is the unfolding element, the essential element of your enlightenment process.

This frequency of love can only be activated through the self-realization process held within you, by you.

Self-acceptance To understand this full concept of unity, it is a vital necessity that you open up into an aspect of self-acceptance. Begin to move into a place within yourself of receiving all that you are in this moment. As you take an initial step of just holding yourself within this space and breathing, the Seeds of Truth can begin to activate within your heart. Ripples are produced from the activation of the Seeds in your own heart.

This conscious action by you will release some of the existing separation within you and will begin to impact your communities. This separation element, which has been perpetuated through all time on your planet, is beginning to break down. This begins with you as an individual, and then it naturally extends outward into your awakened communities.

We place a call out to all of you to let go and embrace the common elements that link you. Let go of any ego judgment of yourself or others, and open into your sacred common element of love. This is your next step, to let go of the strong, separating element that has been in place on your Earth plane and has been holding the illusion and the need to be separated and isolated firmly in place.

Your combined hearts This pure form of energy of the love held by these Seeds of Truth will fulfill an aspect of nutrition for your own heart and will ripple outwards to create a shift for mankind. Through this shift, you will bring forth your own individual resurrection as you open into your own expanding fulfilled heart.

You need to join with like-minded people and come together, forming groups of connecting energy between you.

Work together to build and unfold as you open into this new level of consciousness through your combined hearts, which carry that God Consciousness Connection.

Be willing to let go and come together through the loving, common elements that bind you. Forge an anchor of Truth held through the unity that has been birthed between you as a group. Extend that unity imprint energy outwards to embrace all of humanity on this Earth plane.

You may need to ask yourselves, “What are you afraid of? What will happen if you decide to bring the loving element to all of humanity regardless of belief systems, race or color? What will happen if you allow the barriers to drop away?”

Heralding a new realm The activation of this event has been preordained, and this interconnecting link will be birthed forth, creating a brilliance of flow that will herald in a new realm of conscious connection between those of you who are awakened now.

This process must begin with those of you who are awakening. There will be the action of a new form of energetic created that holds the full purpose of this change, touching all humanity. This ripple of light is designed to infiltrate humanity. It will begin with a subtle pulse, and then it will grow within you and become more expanded over time.

thought many, many years ago. When I first started reading some of the material, it was like coming home. I just was so moved by it and, somehow, it looked very familiar.

It was a philosophy that is not a theology; in other words, even though it is incredibly spiritual, there is no dogma associated with it. It doesn’t have a whole set of sort of do’s and don’ts or moral proclamations.

It is a set of profound ideas that give you a deeper sense of how to understand life and your relationship to the larger whole without many of the unfortunate trappings that many theologies weave into their systems.

I imagine that without even knowing Esoteric Philosophy, many of us will recognize historical figures who were a part of that system.

WM: Potentially, sure. Esotericism comes

perennial philosophy” and its most recent “incarnation,” you might say, is Theosophy.

The great Russian mystic Helena Blavatsky, a pretty well-known name, was the founder of the Theosophical Society in the 1800s, and she was crucial to re-introducing this philosophy. Another author who was very important for me was a woman by the name of Alice A. Bailey.

Esoteric philosophy actually has many branches. For instance, the Rosicrucian Order is just a branch of esoteric philosophy, as is Masonry, as is Anthroposophy developed by Rudolf Steiner. All of these are branches of a great, ancient stream of thought. In fact, we can go back as far as the ancient Greeks if you look at the writings of Plato, Pythagoras, and Aristotle. These were great minds who were very involved in this philosophy. If you were to speak to Plato and ask him,”Are you an esotericist?” he would probably just be dumbfounded by what you were saying — but how do we know? We know by the nature of his thinking, the way he philosophically presented his ideas. There also is evidence of it in the Upanishads of India. Its elements are found in the ancient Chaldean systems of thought and Egyptian mythology.

That is one of the beauties of esotericism. It’s got some fundamental threads of roots or connections to pretty much all world religions and ancient philosophic ways of looking at things from a cultural perspective.

So, it may actually be thought of as the underlying foundation for world religions.

WM: That is exactly right. In fact, I have

often mentioned that to some of my students. In a certain sense, this philosophy is the underpinning philosophy that gives rise to all world religions, but it isn’t just confined to theology, in terms of where you see it playing out. In many ways, you see elements of it in certain political thinking going on in the world, as well as economic thinking, the arts and sciences.

To what extent does Esoteric Philosophy focus on embodying the wisdom of the soul?

WM: It’s a crucial concept. In fact, in many

ways our journey as human beings is to first awaken to that higher prompting within us, which is the more soulful aspect of our consciousness, and then increasingly become more receptive to those intuitive, wise promptings from the soul, and more and more try to imbue it into the fabric of our day-to-day lives. Our journey is to do it not just as a function of our own personal sense of inner enrichment, but perhaps even more fundamentally, to be more effective in making an uplifting service contribution to humanity’s betterment.

On one hand, it speaks so importantly about understanding the inner journey

Would you say that human “ consciousness is embarking

upon an initiation at this time?

William Meader: I’m so glad you asked that, Tim, because, in fact, I would say that that question you are asking me is the most important question you’ve asked. Esoteric philosophy basically states that in the bigger picture, when we look at things in a much bigger way, it’s understood that all of humanity is actually one entity, one being, one unit of consciousness, and it’s a unit of consciousness that itself is evolving.

And that one being, called humanity, has a soul and a personality, and that one being, called humanity, goes through the same processes in its transformation as an individual human being does.

Earlier I mentioned when talking about initiation that eventually the soul wants to more and more try to infuse itself into the personality to transform that personality to be its outer representative, but it’s very incremental. For a human being, it takes many incarnations to complete all the initiatory steps. The same principle is true with humanity.

What I didn’t mention to you earlier is that when it comes to the subject of initiation, crisis is always a prelude to an initiation and a major expansion in consciousness.

What’s happening today, from an esoteric point of view in the world, is that the soul of humanity is trying to infuse a bit more of itself into the personality of humanity, and many of the incredible struggles and crises that we see around the world — whether we’re talking about the political crises here in the United States or the immigration crisis in Europe, the Brexit issue, the crisis in the Middle East — all of these are manifestations of a crescendo of crises as a function of humanity moving to a great initiatory opportunity.

We are in what is called in the ancient literature, “The Period of the Burning Ground,” and it’s a testing time. It’s the crisis period to see if humanity will do what it takes to transform its personality nature. As the soul tries to impress more of itself into the personality, and this is true both collectively and individually, what are revealed are shadow issues.

Shadow issues are the unconscious,

negative patterns that are within.

They are jarred loose and they rise to the surface. That’s why over the last several years we’ve been seeing the worst of businesses, the worst of government, the worst of religion.

And truthfully, if we were honest with ourselves, we have probably seen the worst of ourselves, as well.

This is all part of the physics of how human evolution works and how the evolution of human consciousness works, both individually and collectively. Humanity is approaching a great initiatory opportunity — actually what we call The First Initiation.

The First Initiation has so much to do with humanity learning in a very outward, practical way how to find right relationship. What is the right relationship between nation and nation, between men and women, between government and the people that it governs, between humanity and Mother Nature, race and race, on and on it goes.

The whole story that humanity is trying to understand is its oneness.

It is going through a tremendous crisis around that question, and it is only going to find that oneness when humanity collectively realizes that to live as one means that we have to understand what constitutes right relationship of all of these dualities that play out in our life experience.

So, it’s an absolutely amazing time to be in the world today. When we talk about being a creative agent and a magician, I mean, my goodness!

The call to make an uplifting contribution to humanity’s betterment is higher now than probably even in human history. So, for those people who will be reading this interview, I just have to say that this is your time. This is your time to bring the very best of you forward, the highest impulse of love that you can feel within you, and the wisest thoughts that you have that are meaningful to you and to bring them out into the world as a function of upliftment.

In 2004, you published your book, Shine Forth: The Soul’s Magical Destiny. What inspired you to write that?

WM: The book has many aspects to it,

but its primary topic is the subject of spiritual creativity, which has also been called magic. The subject of creativity, or magic, is one of the many branches of inquiry in the esoteric philosophy. I was particularly moved by this aspect of the esoteric philosophy because, in a certain sense, every human soul is destined to be a creative agent or a magician, you might say, in terms of making a difference in the world. I found it to be such a fascinating inquiry into not only recognizing the importance of being creative as we live our lives more spiritually, but also exploring ancient ways of understanding that are profound. They have to do with how to more effectively register the soul’s intuitive impulses within the mind, how we shape thoughtforms arising from those formless intuitions and how we bring those thoughtforms into the outer world as a support to progressive ideations and a better world.

In many ways, the book is all about the art of thoughtform building and bringing new and progressive ideas that make a difference in the world, about the ancient formulas and ancient ways of understanding the inner mechanism of consciousness and how to do that more effectively and minimize distortions that can arise because of the impurities still present within aspects of our lower nature.

So, I was just particularly attracted to it.

In terms of spiritual magicianship, does it take years or even lifetimes of spiritual advancement to express that in one’s life or do we all do that every day, even though we aren’t acknowledging that this is taking place?

WM: That’s a great question, and it’s one of

those yes-and-no answers. Fundamentally, we’re all creative all of the time, whether you’re on the path yet or not. We are all creative because, fundamentally, we have the capacity to not only think ideas, but then exercise action that gives manifestation to those ideas. That is a given. That is fundamental to just what it means to live life in the human kingdom.

The difference is that there is personality generated creative ideations and

then there are soul-generated creative ideations. In our culture, we are driven by the development of our minds to create in the outer world, largely based upon personality ambitions. But the art of spiritual magic, sometimes called White Magic, is a process that is all about utilizing the same notion of building thoughtforms and bringing them out into the outer world, but with an impulse from a deeper place within us than the personality — recognizing that in the deeper journey, the personality’s destiny is merely to be the outer garment or servant of the soul and its creative impulses.

So this is a yes-and-no answer. Yes, we are always creative because we are always creating thoughts that lead to action — but no from the point of view that until you start awakening to that higher prompting within you, you are pretty much being creative from a personality point of view.

When you start awakening to a higher prompting within, then you begin the journey of subtly trying to build new and progressive ideas that are an impulse from that deeper part of you. The study and process of creative magic is something that really starts to play from a spiritual perspective only after you have had that awakening. One could argue that it takes several lives to perfect it, and that when perfected, that’s another definition of enlightenment, but with every incarnation you heighten your capacity to be more effective at that level of creative expression.

And, probably after enlightenment there are other levels beyond that that we are not even aware of in these physical bodies.

WM: Ha! That’s a very good point. Yes, that’s

so true. The esoteric philosophy would say that enlightenment is a relative term. If we were to look at some of the great people that have gone ahead of us, like a Buddha, Christ, Rama Krishna, we would say of those people that they represent perfection, enlightenment, and from our human perspective that is a valid way to look at it. But, from an esoteric perspective, even the Buddha, even the Christ, are said to be beginners within a yet larger regime of evolution. So, you are quite right when you say that it goes beyond what we would call enlightenment.

What central message do you want to leave with those who attend your event, “Ten Tenants of the Esoteric Philosophy” on September 15 at Unity Minneapolis?

WM: In that talk I am going to be laying out

10 fundamental principles that underlie this whole philosophy, starting with the notion that is called The Primary Principle, which really gets into a fascinating look at what it means when we say that “all is one.” We will look at the Seven Rays,

which is another tenet, the idea that not only does every human being have a soul, but that there are seven types of souls in the world today, and that these seven types are ways that they frame perception differently and they seek to make an uplifting contribution to the world in quite different ways. A lot of the esoteric philosophy is geared to an understanding of recognizing these seven fundamental patterns of consciousness and means of service. We will talk about the importance of recognizing the role of service. We look at the idea that we are moving from an age of mysticism, which was a Piscean age, to an age that will be called the Age of Practical Mysticism. So, those are just a few of the tenets that I will be presenting that first day, filled in with explanations of what all of those tenets mean.

When you put those two together, you can make profound changes, not only in your own life, but in the service that you render toward others. In that particular workshop we will get into a deep look at what we mean by intuition and what we mean by mind and the difference between higher and lower mind and how we discern that in the nature of our mind’s activities. We also look at the difference between higher intuition and lower intuition, which is sometimes called higher psychism and lower psychism, and we compare and contrast the two so we know the difference. Everything has its higher expression and its lower expression, and right discernment of those things is actually really important when thinking about spiritually developing ourselves.

I were just talking about regarding the creative process, and yet, in the talk I go into more of the inner mechanisms of consciousness and how to understand that it goes beyond what we just talked about. It really goes into how you not only build thoughtforms coming from the soul, but how you also enrich it with measures of emotion. How do you bring emotion into it to give a new idea warmth and magnetic appeal? And also, how do you bring your idea into the outer world with a profound sensitivity to right timing?

And, how do you deal with ancient fire, which is the power inherent in old ideas that often can become quite an obstacle as you try to move a new idea forward?

So, I give an overview in that talk of the magical creative process.

And, then you have the first of two daylong events: “The Heavenly Marriage” on September 17. What is that about?

WM: “The Heavenly Marriage” workshop

is based upon the idea that from an esoteric point of view, as I mentioned earlier, we are going into the Age of Practical Mysticism. Practical Mysticism is all about reaching for the stars, but keeping your feet on the ground and becoming more of an agent in support of the grounding and the wise intelligent application of higher principles into our lives.

“The Heavenly Marriage” is a reference to the marriage of your soul’s intuition coupled with your higher mind, the blending of the masculine and feminine within us, the blending of loving intuition and mind. That’s what allows us to be able to be both incredibly heart-filled, but at the same time able to use our higher mind

this philosophy, based on the idea that after a person comes to a place in their incarnational history where they have an awakening, you start to awaken to the soul. There is a whole set of expected things that we would tend to see in an outer person’s life as they start to awaken to the soul’s nature. It is said that this is the entrance point to the beginning of a more conscious spiritual walk in life, but eventually the soul, itself, is wanting to infuse itself into the personality. It wants to transform that personality more and more into an effective outer agent on its behalf. Initiations represent stages in that process.

Initiations, you might say, represent milestones leading to enlightenment, and every initiation represents some degree of mastery the soul has over the personality. When the personality has become completely mastered by the soul, so that there are no independent tendencies of the personality at all, that’s the front door to full enlightenment. This workshop is a really interesting inquiry into understanding these initiations. We look at the things inside us that are transformed as a consequence of each initiation. We also look at how the nature of service changes depending upon which of these initiatory steps a person is on in their journey. So, it’s one of the really interesting facets to this way of looking at life. a

The Next Stage

The Holistic Approach to Transitioning

by Liz Tetu When your muscles feel sore, you have a banana. When you feel backed up, you consume chickweed. When you feel lost, you meditate. But what do you do when you are spiritually a man but assigned female at birth?

I put off transitioning for years because the only option presented to me was medical hormone treatment. In addition to being unable to afford these hormones, I was in no way ready to leap from a majority holistic medical history to a regime almost entirely “modern.”

I started to accept the notion that I would never be able to transition when a fellow transgender man posted on Facebook a list of everyday foods that aid in naturally altering the body’s chemistry.

I was at a loss. Was the answer truly so simple?

According to his sources, my friend suggested a balanced source of foods. To increase masculinity, he suggested: the fruits — avocado, grapes and pomegranates; the vegetables — cabbage, broccoli, bok choy, Brussels sprouts and collard greens; the proteins — mushrooms, chia seeds, eggs and tuna; and miscellaneous foods like green tea, honey, ginger and garlic. For those attempting to increase femininity, he suggested dried fruit, peas, bran, beans (including soybeans and lima beans), tofu and soy-based products.

In order to masculinise my body, I have maintained this diet for the last year, with a heavy emphasis on green tea. During this time, my voice has dropped a quarter of an octave and I have to shave my face biweekly! The immediacy of surgery or hormones does not reflect in the length of the dietary transition, but this gradual experience itself is a spiritual journey I gladly travel.

A Diet for the Auras of Aspiring Adepts

The pure diet of the aura of those who aspire to be adepts consists of spiritual light and fire, vibrant heavenly colors, the music of angelic choirs, the fragrances of beautiful and aromatic flowering plants, the quintessences expressed by devic beings and nature spirits, as well as certain thoughtforms and ideations of divine muses that inspire our minds and hearts with sublime messages of love, truth, purity and peace.

All of these play upon the subtle electronic field of our auras and bring us harmony and joy.

The aura is an electromagnetic field of energy that is ever moving, changing and expressing what is manifesting in our consciousness. It responds to exactly who and where we are in awareness each moment of our lives. Our daily conscious choices determine whether our auras will be beautiful, radiant and as colorful as a spring rainbow, flowing with God’s glory and scintillating with the pure light-energies of our higher Self — or something less.

As spiritual students ascending the steps of our true Self-mastery, we can decide that what we ingest will be worthy of our high and holy calling. We can choose to partake of inspiring stimuli that feed our souls and replenish our spirits, for we know that what we put our attention upon, we become.

The purest diet for spiritual aspirants is light and fire, which we imbibe through various spiritual practices, such as meditation, silence, prayer, chanting, singing, solar gazing, serving others and being in nature. We assimilate God’s light and fire by allowing it to flow and flower within us as we still our minds and open our hearts to the Source of all.

We can take our cues from nature to help us understand how to properly feed our auras. The same elements that exist in the material world also exist in spiritual realms at a higher and more refined frequency. Just as people enjoy being in the sun, feeling its light and warmth recharging their physical cells, so we may enjoy our Solar Presence as it showers the radiance of spiritual light upon and through us, recharging our inner batteries (chakras) with its holy essences of divine love.

sions and drinking in the sunlight and rainbow radiances of love all around us are wonderful ways to nurture our auras through nature.

We can make our lives more colorful and develop a rainbow aura by seeking out different experiences and not doing the same things the same way every day.

Mixing things up, changing paradigms of belief, moving in other dimensions and streams of awareness through thought and during meditation can help to add energetic layers of light to our auras. Through these practices, the colors of our auras take on deeper and richer hues.

If you are a mystic at heart, you are observant and reflective. You desire to understand the deeper mysteries by penetrating to the core of why and how things are the way they are. As you continue to muse on your divine life and live centered in beingness, greater light from your Solar Presence flows to you and is impressed within your auric field.

Lastly, if we desire to have an expansive and radiant aura, we must be creative!

People who follow the crowd and are not self-starters and do not generate the energy required to expand their auras. I encourage everyone to develop a co-creative relationship with God. Go where no one has gone.

Do things that have never been done. Write poetry, songs and music. Create new dances and art forms. Where Terrorism Ends From the Heart

by Alan Cohen The rash of terrorism around the globe is a problem of highest concern. The attacks in Paris and Brussels make it seem as if we are not safe anywhere. Any sane person has to wonder, “What is our world coming to?” How, then, do we deal with terrorists? How do we get rid of angry, insane people who hurt others? How do we stay safe in a world so filled with danger?

The world we see is a representation of the thoughts and beliefs we hold; a reflection of the dynamics playing themselves out within us.

James Allen said, “We think in secret, and it comes to pass.

Environment is our looking glass.”

If the world is our mirror, what is it showing us about our consciousness? We cannot effectively address external terrorists until we face and defeat our internal terrorist.

There is a voice in your mind that terrorizes you. It is continuously hypercritical, telling you how worthless, unattractive, small, stupid and guilty you are, and how you will never find the partner, success, health or inner peace that eludes you. That scary voice fabricates stories that the world is filled with nasty, evil people who will take advantage of you and hurt you at every opportunity.

The inner terrorist is far more dangerous to humanity, since

it belittles and disempowers all of us from the inside out for much of our waking life, and creeps into our dreams.

As Sally Kempton said, “It is impossible to defeat an enemy who has an outpost in your head.”

You were not born with an inner terrorist. Babies are not terrified. Infants enter the world with just two innate fears: falling and loud noises.

All other fears are learned.

Being terrified is an aberration of our natural state, not the truth about who we are, where we came from, or where we are going.

Before we can hope to defeat external terrorists, we must defeat the internal terrorist. It is tempting to say, “The problem is out there and we should get rid of evil people,” rather than, “Let me look within to find where my own fear lives and heal it.”

Here are three steps you can take to end terrorism:  Quit terrorizing yourself.

When you beat yourself up, you are a tool of terrorism.

When you rise beyond the inner terrorist and don’t allow it to bully your mind, heart and life, you are defusing terrorism from the inside out.

Clarity begins at home.  Refuse to be terrified by external people or events.

How much of my true self do I show? Do I dare be vulnerable and risk being hurt? Will people like me if I’m me? And many more questions.

But the issue is often a more basic one for many of us. Many of us have spent most of our lives more or less “hiding” our true selves. We may not even know fully what it really means or feels like to be our real self.

In a way it’s more comfortable and safe to hide, and to try to avoid conflicts, criticism or standing out. But while it feels safer to hide, it also feels like you are not really living.

You may not know or have the courage to share your gifts with the world.

But do you really want to live your whole life without experiencing the joy of living fully, loving fully and unconditionally and making a difference with your unique gifts?

I was faced with all these questions when I started some years ago: building a website, writing a book, and being present online. I was forced to think about and decide who it is I want to show the world. The real me, or the one I thought people expected me to be?

In the beginning, I held back, but it was hard work.

It didn’t feel good, and it was hard to really connect with people on a heart-to-heartlevel. So I decided to let my true self shine through.

The Genuine Article Spirit Leaves

by Janet Michele Red Feather In one respect, authenticity should come naturally. It ought to be easy to be ourselves.

We would avoid having to prepare the face to meet the faces that [we] meet, the dilemma of Eliots anti-hero, J. Alfred Prufrock. Prufrock belied his true, inner self in a vain attempt to court women and impress the upper crust.

He navigated the social realm through a false persona. Like Prufrock, I often strain beneath a glistering veneer in order to forfend my tender, genuine self against a tide of rejection and condemnation.

I remember working on my degree at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco. Drawn to criminal defense, I strove to become a protégé of Bernard Segal.

I was enamored of Bernie’s brilliance and charisma. A professor and practitioner, he had been the defense lawyer in the infamous Fatal Vision trial of Jeffrey MacDonald, former Green Beret doctor accused of killing his wife and daughters.

Initially confident in my intellectual skills, I felt law school gradually wither away my self-esteem. In Bernie’s criminal litigation classes, however, I came alive. I used wit, savvy, theatrics and intelligence wherever sharp legal acumen was wanting. Ultimately, Bernie gave me a shot at being his research assistant. I tried my best to help him with the complex appeal of an accountant convicted of conspiracy. The case and client seemed worthy, but it would take more than savvy and charm on my part to find the winning argument.

I felt inadequate to the task, yet I admired Bernie so much that I persisted in shoes that were clearly too large for me. Bernie harbored a wealth of trial experience, as well as life experience. He exuded confidence and keen insight. He thought quickly on his feet. He had the ability to weave an impenetrable case. These were not superficially crafted attributes designed to dazzle and impress: they emanated naturally from the fiery core of who he was.

Back then, I was more concerned with being cool, suave and slender in my blue polyester pinstripe suit. We smoked Macanudos together in his office. I tried to portray this sophisticated, tastefully androgynous, funny, brainy person. I wanted to be a peer of this man whom I so admired and wanted to emulate. Inside, I was this insecure girl, fearful at every turn. I constantly felt like an actor without a script in the wrong profession.

After weeks of Bernie’s undeniable authenticity, I decided to experiment with being more genuine. I implored with great earnestness, Bernie. How do you do it? How do you go into a courtroom where the judge, jury and weight of the evidence are likely against you?

How do you face a judge who disdains you and your client? How do you deal with such adversity and remain confident?

He must have thought me jejune, yet his watery blue eyes sparkled and returned my gaze with only kind affection. Gently he replied, “Once I accepted that I was never going to look like Robert Redford, everything was fine.”

I was nonplussed by his comment. Like most of the twenty-somethings in my night law class, I had developed an immense crush on Professor Segal. None of the usual imperfections mattered —bags under the eyes, pronounced proboscis, starchy grey hair receding from the forehead and scattering in a shock of waves at the back like some improbable, wind-blown Einstein. All I saw was this person I adored, with brilliant blue eyes, theatrically gesticulating hands, and complete self-assurance.

Suddenly, the honesty and intimacy of his disclosure pierced through to the heart of me.

I had to admit to myself that for most of my life, I, too, had foolishly allowed the perception that I was not conventionally pretty to taint my every pursuit, and to inhibit my expressing my true self. Insecurity drove me to seek approval and conformity rather that to develop my talents and uniqueness.

Bernie’s words rang true; his formula was simple. Love yourself. Accept yourself just as you are. Coming Home to Authenticity

by Kerri Hummingbird Five years ago I was lost in a sea of darkness, completely disconnected from my authenticity. I was struggling at the end of a 20-year relationship to make it work for the sake of our children.

My throat chakra was clogged with all the things I would not say because I knew I had to “pick my battles.” I ran for miles and miles training for marathons because the only peace I could find was after mile 10. My suppressed sexuality had teamed up with inner rebellion to forge a crack for escape through my image of perfection, and I found myself addicted to one-night stands with strangers.

When the psychologist labeled me “borderline personality,” I lost all vestiges of self-worth and crumbled in shame. I was always the A student. What happened to her?

I left my marriage because the cacophony in my head was unbearable and I needed space to myself to just be. I left my marriage because I was tired of pretending to be what everyone wanted me to be, and being exposed as a complete failure. I was convinced if I got away from my husband then all the suffering would cease. In many ways, things did get easier without him — especially because I could finally see myself as I was, not myself in reaction to my surroundings.

After sitting on a therapist’s couch talking about my problems for most of my life, I refused to go to therapy anymore. I didn’t want to talk about the same story again. I wanted to heal.

My prayers were answered when I met a local shaman in Austin and received a spirit healing of the original wound, a traumatic act of sexual abuse that occurred when I was a 1 year old. This healing began an avalanche of transformation that whisked away all that I had been pretending to be, all the masks I wore to please others. I learned to step into personal responsibility for my life.

I studied under amazing spiritual teachers, including those trained by Alberto Villoldo of The Four Winds and HeatherAsh Amara, a student of Don Miguel Ruiz (The Four Agreements). I rose above the wounded stories of my life and expanded into greater possibilities, which turned out to be more true than what I had been believing about myself. As I released core negative beliefs that had been reinforced over a lifetime, the layers of falsehood peeled back and I came more and more into authenticity by witnessing what was still standing within me.

My authenticity was revealed to me much as Michelangelo says of his creations: “I saw the angel in the marble and I carved until I set him free.” I was following sweet music through the darkness, and being guided steadily home.

I began to feel an energetic chord that ran through my being from head to foot,

and I realized it was my truth. When I acted and spoke according to my truth, the chord created harmony throughout me. When I spoke or acted in dissonance with this chord, my stomach would turn and I would feel out of alignment. Feeling this chord’s vibrations was how I learned to speak my truth, because it would urge me strongly to expel the words through my throat, words I was often afraid to speak. But as I learned to speak difficult words, I honored the truth of my being, and I strengthened connection to my authentic self.

And so I have learned that authenticity is the ongoing act of becoming aware of your own truth, and honoring it by word and deed.

The path to authenticity requires a willingness to let go of everything you believe to be true about your life and yourself. In fact, the journey invites you to not believe 90 percent of what you think. To find your authenticity, you must fearlessly endure discomfort by stepping out of the ways your mind has been domesticated to think. You must be willing to release resentments, stop being a victim of circumstance, and let go of being “right.”

You must be an avid student of your soul’s lessons. Overcome the ‘shoulds’ that block your authentic self-expression

In our world of globalization and a gazillion possibilities, it’s often too easy to forget who we are at our core. We start comparing our wants, our needs and our dreams to others. We get confused and uncertain about our choices, especially if we have that perfectionist streak in us that wants to make the “right” or “perfect” choice all the time. We can stew in a pool of comparison shopping and, in the meantime, we miss out on the experience of our most authentic self-expression.

I hear it just too often in my practice: Should I go out with this person? Should I continue with the sale or purchase of this house? Should I quit my job? Should I take on this project? Should I leave this relationship? Should I, should I, should I? Here is Universe giving you a very loving, but firm, palm slap on the forehead. Why? When you “should” yourself, you are forgetting how amazing you are. You are forgetting that your purpose on Earth is to co-create. You are forgetting your gift of free will. You are participating in an energy of disempowerment. You are placing yourself in an energy of confusion and doubt.

When you “should” yourself, you are giving your power away for someone else to make a decision in your place, whether it’s a boss, a child, a spouse…or society beliefs and customs…or your Guides, Spirit or Universe.

When you “should” yourself, you are avoiding making a decision for yourself, from your heart and core desires — from your place of authenticity. You

are expecting approval from an outside source. You are dimming your Light.

This is tough love: stop shoulding yourself!

This can be such an anchored response and pattern that it might be easy to miss at times. Just last week, I caught myself going around in a circle of shoulds. And the more I shoulded, the more I got confused.

“Should I take my business in this direction, or that direction? Should I consider this move? Should I go through with this decision? Should I do this?” My anxiety was on the rise, and my brain was firing up countless scenarios, pro and con, for each “should” item.

And then came the spiritual palm slap on my forehead: “But Jaz, there are no shoulds. Isn’t that what you teach your students?”

OOOhhh…right…big breath….

Overcoming should-mania I then shifted my thinking to the questions, “What experience do I want to create for

myself, my business and my family at this time?” Immediately, my energy became lighter, and the creative juices were more joyful and positive.

To help me gain clarity on what experience I wanted to create, I centered myself in my heart and body and imagined with all my senses what I wanted to see, to feel, to hear. Remember that involving your physical senses in your co-creative process is a path to authentic self-expression! No one else is in your body but you; no one else can feel your experience exactly like you.

Then, I inventoried the possible actions I could take and asked myself, “Now, is this decision or action aligned with my chosen experience? Is it going to help me see/feel/ hear/manifest what I choose to experience?“ Immediately, I felt more clarity of mind and emotion. Spiritual guidance was also cranked up a notch or two.

It’s like I took back the control of my car that was fishtailing and making donuts on slick pavement, and brought it back to the right lane driving in the direction of my choosing. Spirit remains my co-pilot — and we can work in a way that is much more authentic and productive!

Your turn! This week, when you notice yourself in a frenzy of “shoulds,” stop, breathe and ask yourself what experience you’d like to create. Remember your role as divine co-creator of your experience.

Removing Fear from our Lives

by Maggie Wahls The fear at the base our human existence is the fear that “I am not”…not powerful enough, not smart enough, not rich enough, not beautiful enough. I fear “I am not.” And, of course, it is true, I am not the most beautiful or the richest or the smartest and never will be. But that is the last thing I want to admit to myself.

In truth, I am an ever-changing energy field.

But I don’t want to be that. So we have fear thoughts constantly speculating, analyzing, fantasizing. And with our thoughts, we create a mask to keep ourselves safe in that makebelieve world where I am…”all that.”

But what would happen if we just saw things as they really are? What would our lives be like if we let our personal barriers just drop away and live our lives just as they are? Traditional shamans say there would be no more fear. Life could be happy and peaceful and sane.

Holding up a mask to try to be what other people want you to be is crippling. It takes all your energy to hold up that mask. Instead you could just be free to be you and you would find out that it feels great and is easy and takes no effort at all. You can get off the treadmill of trying to be what other people are and discover that you are a really wonderful person in your own way.

And when you do decide to just be who you are really are, you will notice that everybody around you is exhausted from trying to hold up their masks to impress you! And you will want to tell them that they don’t have to do that.

If you would just make the choice to be exactly who and what you are with all your good bits and not-so-good bits, you would find out that people like the authentic you more than that mask you try to hold up to convince them that you are someone they want to like.

In Traditional Shamanism, we know that every person creates their own unique reality. It is made of all the experiences we have had, all the beliefs we were

taught to believe, all the perceptions we have gained along our way. So no two people have the exact same reality. Now you can see why you don’t need to fit into someone else’s reality to be happy and why you don’t need other people to fit into your reality to feel okay. We get to create and live in our own unique reality. This fact should give you the power to create whatever reality you choose to create for yourself.

Your beliefs will manifest in your reality, so it is by choosing your beliefs that you create your reality automatically. Now, this makes much more sense about how you do not need to be what other people are in order for you to be happy and healthy and abundant. It’s amazing, but true! Try it and see. To me, being authentic means to be clear on some core values that I choose to embody and represent, like living and acting from the heart, seeing everyone as my teacher and viewing everything that happens as a learning process. To me, choosing to be authentic is also a conscious choice to grow on a personal level.

It’s a choice to be open, honest and compassionate.

But I soon realized that the biggest part of being authentic and being my real self, not just online but all the time, is to stop trying to be perfect — to allow myself to be imperfect. For example, not waiting to publish a blog or a book until I think it’s perfect, for, in truth, nothing will ever be perfect or completely “done.”

you choose inner peace no matter what the outside world is doing or choosing, you are diminishing terror on the planet.

That’s how powerful you are and how important your contribution is.  Don’t terrorize others. When you use fear, guilt, threat or punishment to control someone who bothers you, you add to the dark mess. Teaching others that they are guilty, small, stupid or owing are forms of psychological terrorism. When you release others, you release yourself.

online, is to take consistent steps from the heart, and then adjust along the way. It is also putting myself in the other person’s shoes, working on not taking things personally, and practicing seeing things from the other person’s perspective.

When we allow ourselves to be more authentic, to show our real self, then we are also more likely to “divide” people.

There will be those who really “see” us and resonate with us, and also those who don’t.

So how do we respond to those who dislike us, those who want to make us fit into their category of Real? Well, it’s impossible to please everybody. I know, for I have tried. Learning to say no, and to sometimes disappoint people, and to stand up for myself, my beliefs or my loved ones, is part of the process of becoming authentic and being my real self.

To me it’s a daily practice of learning to be fully in the present moment, of

listening to my heart, and finding the strength and center within myself while letting go of what or who I think others may expect me to be.

What is my heart guiding me to do?

That’s a simple question but a powerful practice that I use as a guiding light for living authentically.

How are you showing up authentically in your world? Are you holding back or are you allowing your real self to shine through in your daily life? a

Stymied about where these drowning people were coming from, the fishermen hiked up along the river a few hundred yards. There they saw a bridge with a man standing on it. When a woman began to cross the bridge the man grabbed her and started to throw her in the river. The fishermen rushed to her aid, subdued the crazy man, and had him arrested.

A crazy person stands on a bridge in your head, intercepting positive, loving, creative thoughts, attempting to stifle or kill them. So far, this lunatic has achieved much of his or her dark mission. As long as that insane person is in charge, your positive intentions don’t stand a chance.

It will do you no good to keep sending more noble thoughts across the bridge.

The saboteur will intercept them and they

will be tossed aside.

Get the crazy person off the bridge and allow your visions to manifest. Then you will be free of fear and fear-based actions, you will know exactly how to deal with external terrorists, and the outer world will show less terrorism because you have changed from the inside out.

Terrorism is running rampant on the planet because it is running rampant in our minds. We must pluck it from our hearts before we can pluck it from the world. Until then we are simply fearing and fighting ourselves. Healing the world is an inside job. There is no other way around it. a
