There Is Beauty by Laurie Stinson There is beauty in the soul of a person who has experienced pain and suffering. There is beauty in those distraught, who were abused and abandoned, feeling degradation and shame. There is beauty in those that have loved and lost, instilling vulnerability, disappointment and mistrust, who dare not love again. There is beauty in those who experienced every emotional crayon in their box and are tired of thinking, feeling and being. There is beauty when I meet these vagabonds who, after all life has shown them, still search for answers, trying to find their way home. There is beauty when the energy flows into my awareness and I convey a higher understanding for their pain and suffering, catching the ego unaware of a different story that can be told. There is beauty when one realizes that the answers were always within them, swimming in their subconscious, playing out in daily life through the people and events life has brought to them. There is beauty in watching those mighty old souls walk away with a freedom inside, proud & strong, loving themselves once again. There is beauty in a universe that weaves hurt into compassion, resentment into wisdom, and a desperate hunger for truth into a life worth living. a Laurie Stinson is a spiritual counselor living in the high desert of New Mexico. Connection with my heart by Rev. Lisa Severson I know I am not the only one who has felt that the last several years have been quite a challenge. I am now at an age where the elders I relied on so much need help from me to navigate health challenges — and some, including my mother, have passed on. This has presented me with situations that have tested my strength, both of my heart and my will. I have had some pretty dramatic meltdowns, but I’ve also accomplished some amazing feats in terms of dealing with difficulty and stress. The last few years have given me the daunting prospect of figuring out who I am now, given all that I’ve been through. Today, while meditating, I found something quite amazing: my heart. Yes, it’s been there, but it’s been knocked around a bit and it’s been feeling quite sore. Today though, I entered into a meditation where I saw and felt the electromagnetic field it generates. I felt it stronger than I ever had — and I realized that it’s been carrying on, performing all the physical and spiritual tasks it’s meant to regardless of my awareness, regardless of what my brain had been doing or thinking or how my emotions had been raging. It was such a reassuring and lovely feeling. I felt the presence of The Mother, both my own in spirit and the Holy Mother of us all. I was struck by the knowing that all my past selves, the one lying on the kitchen floor in full panic attack, the ones who were in hospital rooms, nursing homes and ERs, the ones sitting in the car trying to work up the courage to go do another seemingly impossible thing, and the ones at home, exhausted and cuddling the cats, needed to feel that our heart was still going strong and always had been. So I went to them, one by one, and saw them in the midst of the struggle. I comforted them, hugged them and told them it was going to be okay. I told them that we were okay, we had made it through the troubles and that I loved and needed them back with me. I gathered them up, one at a time, and acknowledged their strength and courage. Then I drew them into

my heart and went looking for the next one in need. Along this journey I also hugged and brought into my heart all the amazing people who helped me along the way and acknowledged what they had done and how they helped me stay the course. When I had finished, I knew I was more whole than I had been in a long time. I could feel all those “Me’s” together in my heart — and the amount of strength that generates is amazing. I knew that I was going to be able to carry on with my life with a renewed purpose and stronger heart than I ever knew was possible. I knew, for certain, that my heart is the single most important thing to nurture right now, for it was the key to everything I want to do and be going forward. I also knew that was true for me on a personal level and even a global level. If I can keep my connection to my heart intact, I’ll be able to weather whatever the future brings — maybe even this election year. a Rev. The Secret of the human heart: A Valentine’s Day meditation for One by Cynthia Grace Piano The miracle of the healing heart leads us into the month of February, the month of love, in all its forms. In the midst of the month, we celebrate Valentine’s Day. It is Our Day, Oneness Day, really. It is the day of all days of the year to relish ourselves, honor ourselves and seek deeply the limitless, guiltless love we have for ourselves. It is the infinite search to unite the divine masculine and divine feminine, and all duality, in ourselves: to discover the magic and satiable life of one. We capture the sweet scent of truth as it whiffs gently under our noses, wafting up from our hearts. We know it instinctively. It is nurturing, nourishing and forgiving. It allows us to relax, take an out-breath, and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It is the ahh of aloha, and the aha of divine revelation. The divine revelation, of course, is that we are divine. We are the whole, sacred, essence of love in a walking, talking miracle of a being. Whether we believe it, or not, it is true. Acceptance of that fact is sometimes difficult to swallow. With all that is mirrored to us in antithesis of it, we may miss it, or misinterpret it. So today, we receive it. The truth of our being. The truth of our loving self. We stand openeyed, open-armed, open-hearted and open-willed to accept it — for ourselves, from ourselves, with ourselves. We are immersed in it, snuggled and safe within it. It is really, really us! This is the relationship we desire, attempt to create so many times with external inventions and interventions. And all we have to do, or think, or feel, or dream, is to just be. No cards, flowers or candy necessary. We are in love with our naked selves, with all our “faults” and “not-enoughs,” our “too this’s or that’s.” We are perfect the way we are this very moment! Our human hearts have four

chambers: love, peace, harmony and oneness. All are sacred spaces of joy, kindness, generosity, beauty and abundance. All refract and reflect the diamond light that we are. The rainbow colors and bejeweled tones of the cosmos reverberate within, soothing the hiccups of life on the un-sensed earth plane. We see them now plainly, vibrant, glistening and sparkling with angelic pixie dust — an innate gift of the stars. We hear them, singing soulfully the unspoken untranslatable words of life as it really is: Our heaven on earth. We are overcome with glee, nearly jumping out of our skin, floating in the ether of our knowingness, with ecstasy and appreciation of all that we are and have. We have more than enough for ourselves, many times over. This is the relationship we dream of, we wish for, we rarely, if ever, see in movies and read in books. This is the year we create this feeling for ourselves. This is it! We have it! It is our simple secret truth — love is us! We have so much of it ourselves, we can share it freely with all that is. For it all is our creation, every bit of it. Our senses hear it, see it, smell it, feel it, taste it, and know it! It is our choice, this day, to fully accept our love for ourselves and our sacred divinity. We declare it, claim it, and own it. Today. This is the secret of every human heart. Thus, we create the best Valentine’s Day ever! a Cynthia G. Piano is a writer, spiritual teacher and mentor. Will anyone notice? by William Pillow Leaders of major religions worldwide will view this article with righteous indignation and disavowal — and it may fall on deaf ears of billions of their followers. Still, it might compound the emerging fissures within theology, philosophy, psychology, science, medicine and ethics. The Dead Sea Scrolls and manuscripts from other archeological discoveries revealed aspects of early Christianity that heretofore were thought to have been destroyed. Now, almost 2,000 years later, remarkable advances in science and technology have given humankind enhanced perspectives with which to reconsider such existential concerns as life, death and humans’ place in this world. The past two millennia obviously have allowed the billions of us around the globe to become individually and institutionally fixated on certain beliefs, customs and practices. Increasingly, these divide rather than unite us in causes for the common good, even to a threatened extinction by nuclear self-destruction, driven by human frailties. Amidst humankind’s mass inhumanity, a single hope dwells in the shadows of all the disciplines mentioned earlier. The term “shadows” seems quite appropriate. Many scientists, despite their miraculous achievements, seem content to remain within the glass walls of academia’s intransigent paradigm of “scientific materialism.” Notably, worldrenowned scientist and futurist Ervin Laszlo claims that the increasing incidence of puzzles and anomalies accumulating in many disciplines is pushing science to develop a new paradigm — to acknowledge   see

Three Heart Balancing™ — A New Method for Healing by Paul Sevett Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1977, Jaentra Green Gardener committed herself to explore every and any healing modality so the disease would not claim her life. After years of healing, massage and bodywork of all kinds, chiropractic and psychotherapy, Jaentra realized she had control over her body and its movement after winning local ballroom dance competitions in 1992. She was healed from MS. A great victory to be sure, but it had taken so long and consumed so much of her time and resources that Jaentra began experimenting, seeking a way to make change, transformation and healing faster. She learned of the Hawaiian phrase Ho’opono pono, which translates into “God is rhythm.” In collaboration with a group of dedicated colleagues and clients, she devised a method that puts all the body’s rhythms, breathing, heartbeat, cranial-sacral, peristaltic, muscular sensations, emotions and sexual expressions into sync with the rhythm of the Universe. A new method of healing was born! This new healing produced the effect of energetically opening the pelvic bowl, enabling life-giving vitality to flow through one’s entire body. Over the next few years this process was fine-tuned into what today we call Three Heart Balancing™ — the three hearts being the Spirit Heart, Balance Heart and Will Heart:   The Spirit Heart is located above the neck, centered in the middle of the forehead. It includes the throat, third eye, and crown of the head. It contains male energy, yang, light, visions, prophecy and enlightenment.   The Balance Heart is in the upper torso, centered on the physical heart in the body. It contains the throat, the heart, and the solar plexus. It focuses on balance, love and the integration of male and female.   The Will Heart is in the lower torso, centered in the core of the body just below the navel. It includes the solar plexus, sacrum and the root or pelvic floor. It is the center for sexuality, money, the emotional archive, ego, and it is directly connected to our survival. When the rhythms of the body are synchronized with the Universe, the inner healer we call the Wave is activated. When the Wave awakens, our bodies expand and contract to interplay with the environment. The relationship of our body to the environment becomes orderly, aligning with the physical forces identified by science to foster healing. These forces include gravity, the strong force, the weak force, liquid fields, the electromagnetic field, the tonal resonance field, the morphogenetic resonance field, and the reciprocal dynamic articulation field. When we are healing others, the Wave moves throughout the body, awakening memories that

the body needs to release by bringing our rhythms into harmony with one another and the physical energy forces, driving out damage and disease. The Wave is an energy that connects our body with the earth and moon within the presence of the Universal/Divine Source. It moves in the shape of the infinity symbol, passing through the navel down the back of the legs, out the feet and around the earth, then reentering the body through the navel and up the back, out the head and around the moon, returning to the body through the navel in a continuous loop of healing energy. Everyone on the planet has the Wave, and Three Heart Balancing always connects with another’s Wave through a partnership. When we are healing another, we are not “doing it.” Rather, the healing occurs because we are engaged in this partnership, which includes the client who is asking for healing, ourselves, the Universal/ Divine Source, the family and friends of the client, the others in their medical/healing treatment team, the animals, tree spirits, bugs, angels, planets, stars and all life forms. When two people explore healing, the result is expansion into love, health, memories, and new body sensations. The healing expands life through gratitude, empowerment, love and connection moving the body toward health. We believe: Healing is rich, exciting, joyful and empowering; we can all learn, and learning healing changes us for the better; the healer, within the partnership relationship, creates a loving presence so the body can heal; and healing is a natural part of life and works regardless of the healer or clients’ beliefs. The only way you can truly know about healing is to experience it through giving and receiving. Just like you cannot describe how water is wet and how it feels, you have to put your hand in the water to know it. We have the power to make each other healthier if we simply learn where and how to place our hands. It is that simple. a Experience more about Heart Openings from Jaentra Green Gardener and her team of coaches by attending the interactive workshop on March 12, from 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the Wellstone Center. February horoscope: Compassion is our Valentine Mercurial Messages

by Heather Roan Robbins Let’s keep our eye on the prize this month; Mercury in Capricorn offers us unusual competence and challenges the first two weeks of February, but we can get frustrated if we don’t have clear and caring goals. Around February 5-6, Venus conjuncts Pluto and cracks open our priorities. Let’s keep our hearts expansive even as we push forward, good relationships are more efficient than false productivity. As Mercury enters collaborative Aquarius February 12 and Venus on February 16, let’s love our circle rather than load Valentine’s Day with romantic expectations. Towards the end of the month, the Sun enters Pisces, conjuncts intuitive Neptune, lowers our energy but attunes us to the quiet voice within. We can choose to listen. Aries (Mar. 21-Apr. 19)…You can have an approach-avoidance love with your community February 1-13; you like being needed but can feel impatient, chafed by responsibilities. If inspired, be heroic, but don’t do others’ work for them. Mid-month, lead rather than resist; if you don’t like events, initiate improvements. Come back to your heart the last few weeks and process a backlog of feeling. Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)…Don’t get involved in unnecessary politics; do kindly hold the ship on course, for we need your steadiness. February 7-14 can provide opportunities cloaked in apparent difficulties. Support others with affectionate nurturance, but don’t be drained. Rest and let others steer towards the end of the month. Gemini (May 21-June 20)…Speak thoughtfully, others become controlling under stress, and you need to choose when to step away, when to talk it through, and when to make communication a radical act of compassion through the first half of February. Your efforts come back to roost with love or challenge mid-month. The last two weeks may be more

comfortable, just don’t spread yourself too thin. Cancer (June 21-July 22)…Be centered rather than defensive in early February; if others prickle around you, don’t take it personally. You are needed to pick people up when they fall, offer them soup and sympathy. Signals can be mixed and confusing towards the end of the month; drop judgment and seek to understand and be understood. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)…Your stubborn strength can help you accomplish but could stimulate tension these first few weeks. Be gracious even if not flexible. Mid-February may offer a lesson in loving detachment. Your surroundings become more interesting, conversation starts to flow your way towards the end of the month; shine but stay considerate of others’ needs. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)…Reel in the crankiness and just get the work done. You may come to some powerful realizations this month, but need to follow through on opportunities and commitments now to nurture your life’s garden. Speak from compassion rather than judgment mid-month. Prioritize health, rest, and renewal the last week. Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)…Apply your philosophy and it expands your spiritual perception, stretches your understanding, and changes your relationship habits to develop a healthier balance between your needs and theirs. Let your inner artist dance around Valentine’s Day. Later on, if shared resources become a point of contention with sibling-like people, hold an equitable vision. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)…You may feel cranky as the month begins but can redirect this towards surgical decisions; edit what you don’t need to create room for what you do. People will tend to take you seriously, so don’t waste the opportunity in sarcasm. Be straightforward about your need for solitude or intimacy mid-month. Step back into your empathic heart later on.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)…Saturn pushes you to mature, but don’t lose your spark; reach for a more realistic, responsible approach but don’t be limited by other people’s assumptions. Don’t argue; get more information instead. Nearby decision-makers can be supportive when your goal is clear and well-researched. Be cautiously diplomatic early in the month, playful mid-month, and relax towards the end. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan.19)…If strong emotions rock February’s first few weeks, stay centered and keep the heart open. You can have an extra glow with Venus in Capricorn through Valentine’s Day. Be effective, but do so for the common good, and watch how people respond. After Valentine’s, empower others by encouraging their leadership with your appreciation. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)…Lead by example; be proactive and avoid a lazy streak that creeps in privately. The foundation of your work will benefit. Create inclusive connections mid-month; be the host at life’s party and involve stragglers. People are more open to your ideas later on, but also listen; your attention can be healing. Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)…Gently, steadily work at your own pace early in the month. Know you perceive interactions more sensitively than most people; they may be klutzy rather than mean. Keep the heart open but expectations minimal mid-month. Work around tough run ins with other people’s philosophies later on; instead of arguing, let them feel the results of your faith and perception. a Heather Roan Robbins is a heart-centered and choiceoriented astrologer, palmist and ceremonialist with 30+ years’ experience. “the unexpected and often strange findings that stress the current theories of the physical world, the living world, and the world of human consciousness.” The “shadows” also persist among elite researchers who still believe that “waking” consciousness originates within the brain, and therefore that the body physiologically creates paranormal phenomena such as near-death experiences. Moreover, religions suppressed the inclusion in modern orthodoxy of beliefs and practices that persisted over the first 500 years of early Christianity, which now are early clues for bringing light into those “shadows.” Those clues, and reasons they apparently were suppressed, therefore become the steppingstones for your consideration. The example used here is from Christianity, yet it applies to all religions of the world. This arose from contention that characterized discussions among Christian Church fathers during the 1st to the 6th centuries CE. It involved a single concept that was a common belief in Jesus’ day and was taught both then and earlier in Judaism. The concept was reincarnation. Reincarnation naturally involves souls. Of course, they were humanly imperceptible and inexplicable then just as they are now. Yet, souls were considered God’s gifts to humans. Their nature and purpose were obviously unknown. Therefore, they were subjects of discussion and writings by early Greek philosophers like Plato and Socrates. Early Church fathers like Origen also espoused the reality of souls and reincarnation. His Christology theory was that Jesus was an advanced soul. But Roman Emperor Justinian excommunicated Origen from the Roman Catholic Church in the 6th century CE for openly endorsing souls and reincarnation. This became the final blow for these ideas to be forever suppressed from Christian orthodoxy. One reason was that if reincarnation is acknowledged and research demonstrates that souls can change religion from one incarnation to another, a religion’s claim to exclusive truth is negated. Another was that reincarnation was believed to contradict the doctrine of corporeal

resurrection and undermine the need for Christ’s redemptive sacrifice. But our recognition of these facts now has revealed innumerable potential implications for all of humankind. This seems increasingly significant, because the late 20th century brought us new discoveries in human development that foreshadow experiential evidence of our souls’ involvement in behavioral events in the earlier mentioned disciplines. During the past quarter-century, the disciplines mentioned earlier have made significant progress in studies of human development. Often enigmas were encountered during experiential events that defied cause or explanation. These included the documentation of new kinds of apparent consciousness of which we individually are not aware. One of these suggests that soul consciousness incarnates early in the womb and survives our mortal death to return to Heaven. Another source of information indicates that souls are willingly self-accountable for human frailties that the host’s soul allows or enables its host to perform. If true, this poses an entirely new responsibility for each of us and suggests immortal implications. Souls also could be responsible for any number of paranormal phenomena and “wireless” communications and sensing often attributed to psi. Still, evidence of reincarnation can help fulfill one of Christianity’s greatest doctrines, that we are indeed brothers and sisters, and that we should love one another as such. Religious teachings can contain great wisdom, but at the same time, religions separate and divide us. Wars are based on the perception that the enemy is different from ourselves, which allows us to justify killing. Evidence of reincarnation allows us to see that we are universal souls, which are not bound to any one religion, nationality or ethnic group. a William F. Pillow, Jr. was a Southern Baptist and a pharmacist who was skeptical about the paranormal by training. Later in life, his convictions changed when he began to explore his own unanswered questions about life, death and the survival of the soul. He is the author of seven books, the most recent of which is The Real You is Immortal: Whether You Like It or Not! Contact him at Copyright © 2016. All Rights Reserved.

February 2016 the edge  11

by Janet Michele Red Feather A flamingo pink sun gently slides beneath the horizon; a hemline of seafoam lazily laps at a beige shoreline; a gentle, crystalline curtain of dewy rain softly cascades over fresh spring grass. Everywhere, the natural world reminds us to remain gradual and Zenlike. The realm of the human is another matter. Everything in our hectic existence encourages and supports a swifter pace. Some folks, though, still march to the proverbial beat of a different drummer. For some of us, moving slowly through life has become second nature. I grew up largely in the ’burbs, a loner among rank conformists. It took years for me to discover and accept that my essential nature does not lend itself well to a loud, abrupt, reactive existence. I am an empath, among other things; and as such, I seem to require a deep canyon of time in which to move and dwell. My way is not superior to another’s, just different. For me, each day is more akin to a slow, luxurious river, inching its way past purpled rock walls toward the infinite sea. My movements are flowing, meditative. I remain aware of my breath, my thoughts, my dreams. I don’t blast music: I dwell in a serene, open landscape that allows space for my Guides to speak. Contemporary culture prizes achievement, goals and success; I, on the other hand, value meditation, dreams and imagination. I view life differently. I do not pressure myself to be “doing something” 24/7. It takes time to synthesize the experiences I do have when more actively engaged with work, and with others. I need enough open mental prairie in which to reflect, ponder and integrate. These activities are just as real to me as hiking, biking and running a marathon.

We hear the familiar incantation, “There just aren’t enough hours in the day!” Slow folks like me, however, seem to have more than enough time in a single day to accomplish impossibly beautiful things. I wish to have my life paced that way, and so it is. Cedric Red Feather used to quip that he planned to lobby for a Tribal Resolution to add an extra hour to the day, which I thought was pretty clever. In Mandan spiritual culture, there are Corn Priests. Cedric can recall the names of every one of them, because their names are embedded within a song. There are over 30 altogether, and the penultimate one selected by the Spirits is named “Moves Slowly.” This beautiful name does not mean he was pokey or a lollygagger. It means that he would move skillfully from one object in the landscape to the next rather than startle

others with impulsive, rash movements. This tactic gave him strategic skill in hunting or in battle. I think this relative and I would have gotten along well. I try to carry an open, relaxed quality with me as I move through my day. On the roads, I do not rush: I stay very calm and present. I flow with the changing traffic speeds, allowing ample following distance between my car and the next. I free myself from an obsessive attachment to lists. Instead, if I pause for a moment or two, I am usually able to receive clairaudient impressions of all the items I need. At checkout, I allow that extra heartbeat often denied by lunging, aggressive people. Rather than crowd the person ahead of me, I wait patiently until she has gathered all of her belongings: coins, bills, receipt, wallet. Those extra few moments are always appreciated. One woman even “paid forward” my purchase to reward me for waiting without complaint through her selection and purchase of several lottery tickets. The next time you go out from your home, stop and breathe. Walk as though every step is the first one after recovering the use of your feet. Appreciate the loving energy of the Earth beneath you. Look up at the open dome of sky. Apprehend the lessons in impermanence offered by the clouds. Inhale love, exhale peace. Realize that with slow, abiding attention, every single moment of life can be engaged as precious and enjoyable. a Janet Michele Red Feather, J.D., M.A., has taught literature and composition for 18 years at the university, state, tribal and community college levels. She is currently a tenured English faculty member at Normandale Community College. Janet enjoys her role as Ceremonial Singer for Native American ceremonies, singing traditional songs in Mandan and Lakota. She made a career shift into teaching after serving nearly eight years as a defense litigator in California. Her life changed significantly after she traveled to North Dakota in 1993 to fast and pray for a way of life. She welcomes correspondence at JanetRedFeather77@ Copyright © 2016. All Rights Reserved.

THE STEADY SELF-BIRTH by Soha Jagger A slow life is a conscious and unpoised existence well spent on emotional upheavals and unlimited creative expressions. We are designed to be open like a compliant flower, desperate to be affected by the seasons of our lives. But to step into a moment and use all of our active senses proves that time and space is mended by the power within ourselves. Togetherness is not synonymous with time; it’s a collective energy that allows individuals to be unified on both a physical and mental level. We must view that aspect of ourselves as existing in the people we invite into our lives. Non-verbal communication is an angle that slows down our voice and discovers the perception of others, whom we call our family and friends. In our desperate phases of mental confusion, we must drive gently and remember the advice of others. Togetherness is a pattern within that communicates our mind with our hearts. Understanding the union is compulsory for slowing down our anxieties from reaction. PACE OF NATURE

Nature’s reception is as steady as the relentlessness of busy city life. Merging with the pace of nature allows the soul to return back to the plant kingdom. We are mused by the music of growth, only when our mind is steady and working in accordance with the wind’s flow. If we choose to hold onto the branch of trees and plants instead of our mobile phones, we will resume into a slower connection with our hearts, ultimately keeping us steady from our fears. Laughter is present and a continuum of our reactions to life’s struggles and joys. If we placed our energy into an activity that made us joyful for at least 30 minutes a day, we can awaken our inner child. Life provides us with many portals for the discovery of our

self; happiness slows down our focus on the self-planning of consuming goals. Life is tumultuous while our Earth is our playground; so tune into that laughter’s song and learn to be spontaneous daily for your own self-entertainment. Break routine by erasing expectations from our minds. Allow the self to be conscious when there is panic for delivering what is required to be done with our daily life. A few slow breaths and a reminder is all that is required to realize that life is meant to bring unknown forces into the surface of our lives. And as we stare into that brink of reaction where routine of the mind’s processes does not apply, there is awareness of a self-rebirth. What lies ahead is steady and slowly approaching us. We simply cannot get in the way of what is pre-ordained, so withhold that rage of control over presented routines. SOUL IN SILENCE

Walking and meditation work together to support the soul in silence. We can complete both walking and meditation together for at least 30 minutes a day, anywhere we choose. All that is required is to initially walk faster and then slow down. Allowing the heart to beat at a steadier pace releases suppressed emotions into the mind for transformation. Patience is simultaneous with walking, because the force of stress is returned back into the ground within each step we take. Listening to others is a form of charity for the people in our lives. It also gives us the ability to be silent and slow down. We emit a nurturing etheric exchange when we are giving. It also raises our wisdom from our subconscious and allows love to flow within each other. Love is the most concentrated energy on earth; our hearts too reach self-birth at a naturalistic slow and radiating speed. a Soha Jagger is a freelance writer and author of e-book The Life of Self. DELIBERATELY SLOWING DOWN by Mary L. Stoffel So what comes to mind when we explore the concept of slowing down? I think about things like sleep, and healthy food preparation, and planning for maximum efficiency to get everything done. But that’s only part of the story. There are also the spiritual aspects of intention, and purpose, and giving priority to nurturing the soul. And eventually, I come to the realization that it is all about balance. Living deliberately, in harmony and balance, inside and out. Conflict, within ourselves and with others, uses precious resources of strength, will and creativity, that none of us can afford to waste. Attempting to meet old, unrealistic expectations often leads us down blind alleys of disappointment and regret. And the anchor of old belief systems keeps us stuck in the purgatory of wasted effort. Most often, a life event rattles our cage and inspires us to break free and vow to do things differently. And it works in certain aspects of our lives or for the time it takes for us to feel comfortable again. Then, whatever we have used to sabotage our lives in the past, returns — because we really haven’t changed our underlying operating system. So the real issue is how can we do that? Sometimes we can focus on one area, such as changing our diet and eating habits. By concentrating our attention and maintaining our focus, we can make lasting changes in our lifestyle. It requires dedication and determination to succeed in replacing old habits with new ones. All weight control and fitness programs stress the importance of changing the mind chatter, as well as the daily routines. I propose we have to go even further and address the underlying beliefs we all have about our body image, our health and our ability to change. We can chant the affirmation “I am my perfect weight” twenty 14

times before each meal and it will have minimal effect if our underlying belief is: “I can never reach this impossible goal!” The problem with this approach is that it is very time and labor intensive. And, you have to focus on one area at a time to apply all of your resources to the problem. While you are doing that, other areas tend to slide, or regress, or just get worse. It becomes very difficult to juggle it all, which defeats the whole purpose of slowing down to achieve balance and harmony. As hard as we try, past events, traumas and indoctrination continue to influence our ability to make permanent changes. And that is what we want: the ability to create the life we want and dis-create anything in our operating system that is holding us back. “Slowing down” implies much more than a change in attitude, as powerful as that can be. It requires a thorough examination of the operating system I have developed to get me to this point in my life. I need to define my blueprint so I can understand what is truly driving the saboteurs and defense mechanisms that keep me stuck, or that undermine my progress. Once I have achieved this understanding, then I can deliberately address not just “how” I sabotage my efforts, but “why” I do so. By dis-creating those beliefs that are no longer serving me, I can remove the blocks that are keeping me stagnant. I can choose what I want to believe and I can decide what changes I want to make. Not only does this speed up the process, it creates lasting changes in the areas I choose. Living in balance and harmony is not an impossible dream. Living deliberately is the fastest, most permanent way to achieve it. a Mary L. Stoffel is an Avatar® Master, animal communicator, and shamanic practitioner. FOCUS & BOUNDARIES: LIVING SIMPLY & SLOWLY by Shauna Aura Knight There’s crossover between the approach of living slowly, and living simply, and a lot of it has to do with focusing your time and energy on what really matters. And that’ll be different for each of us, so I’m not here to tell you what to spend your time on. In my life, I’ve shifted everything so that I can focus on writing, painting and teaching leadership and facilitation for alternative spirituality groups. This has meant a radical shift in my life priorities; living simply can be complicated at first. Life was easier on autopilot. When I was a graphic designer, I worked 50-60 hour weeks, I slept, I watched TV with my husband. I occasionally wrote fiction but never had time to paint. I rarely had the energy to do anything social; this became a sore point in our marriage. We ate a lot of takeout and carby, sugary food. Then I got laid off, lost a hundred pounds, and left my husband. I moved to a cabin in the woods at a retreat center and suddenly, there was silence. The grunt work was monastic, contemplative. I wasn’t arguing with executives over strategic design. I had no TV. There weren’t billboards or advertisements among the trees, there were no sirens. The keys to a slower, simpler life are in where I focus my time, effort and life force. The essence is this: What will you say yes to? What will you say no to? This the essence of establishing healthy boundaries. Eventually I moved, started teaching workshops and leading rituals, then writing and painting, too. I said “yes” to time for creative work I love, and “no” to higher-income jobs that made me miserable. I reduced my expenses; I live in a studio without running water in exchange for household grunt work. I wear thrifted clothes. I don’t eat out. I use upcycled art supplies. People often say, “I have to do XYZ?” Try rephrasing it as, “I choose to do XYZ.” See how it feels to acknowledge your choice to spend this time. Does the activity drain your life force? Where would you rather spend your time? Is it

time to say “no” to this? Sometimes the choice isn’t great — we can choose to do paid work, or be broke. Other times, we’re doing a codependent dance to avoid offending people. As an introvert, I’ve gone to many social gatherings I had no interest in. This drains my battery, but I didn’t want to argue with my spouse or hurt feelings. I’m now more likely to say “no” and focus my time elsewhere. I also say “no” to wasting my time on people who bring drama or toxicity into my life. Living simply and slowly requires effort; it involves figuring out what you want to spend your time on and making choices. You don’t need to do everything more slowly. Some of you might enjoy spending time cooking for loved ones. Me? I don’t enjoy cooking; I’d rather eat simply and stay in my writing groove. I also value my health, and I put in the effort to remove gluten, dairy, preservatives and added sugar — and in a way that simplified food preparation. That way I can focus on enjoying the work that feeds my soul. I’m not perfect; I struggle to balance creative work and time with my boyfriend. I was unhappy in my marriage and fell into the consumerist trap of buying stuff as a happiness patch-job. Now, I’m in a genuinely happier relationship, though if I spend time with my partner then I’m behind in my work, which connects to the financial stress of being a “starving artist.” I take on additional work to pay the bills, and…see how easy it is to get caught up spending time on things we don’t value? Don’t get sucked into the guilt spiral; living slowly and simply is about process, not perfection. Try out new patterns and figure out what you value and want to focus on, and what you want to cut out of your life. What do you choose? What feeds you? a Shauna Aura Knight is an artist, author, presenter and spiritual seeker. Minneapolis Psychic The Beauty of Wings: An Interview with Alexandra Mika by Tim Miejan Read the uncut interview at Some people are just too sensitive to the pain and misery of life on Earth. Alexandra Mika is one such person. She endured an excruciatingly painful childhood of bullying, exclusion and asthma, followed by years filled with anorexia, pneumonia, panic and suffocation to near death. Her healing process led her to journal her experiences, and those writings became her book The Beauty of Wings: A True Story of Transformation from Near Death to Unconditional Love. The Twin Cities-based author is a keynote speaker at the Minneapolis Psychic & Healing Symposium, which returns on Saturday, Feb. 27, to the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Park. Alexandra Mika is a registered nurse, Reiki Master, certified yoga instructor and artist who enjoys guiding people towards well-being, joy, unconditional love, and freedom. She spends her free time with nature and animals. Speaking softly, and with great intention, Alexandra shared with The Edge about her childhood, her healing process and what she hopes to share with others at the Psychic & Healing Symposium. Your book is the story of your healing journey. When did the pain begin for you in your childhood? Alexandra Mika: It started as early as I can

remember, feeling rejected instead of loved. Feeling criticized and judged instead of embraced. I would say around ages 3 or 4; I can remember that. I grew up with a mother who was very critical and very judgmental and did not know how to embrace or love, and a father who really wasn’t present, who was really out of the picture — and when he was around, he was really angry. As far as I can remember, I would run to my room and cry and not feel safe. My brother bullied me in a lot of ways and tormented me. At times I wanted to run away from home. At times I even wondered, did I come from them? Is this my place in the world? My parents really did not have a lot of expectations for their kids in the home. My brother was the older one, and so he was put on a pedestal. He was popular in school, and my mom viewed him as the golden child. I was a bit different. I was sensitive. I talked about life after death at a really early age. I think my parents did the very best they

Alexandra Mika will present “Find the Beauty of Your Wings” at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Minneapolis Psychic & Healing Symposium. could with what they knew — and what they knew was to try to change me, put me into a box and to get me to be more like the other kids, or to be more like my brother. Internally I felt like, “Oh, there must be something wrong with me then.” And, so, from the earliest age I just remember feeling like I was not good enough. That’s when I turned to nature and animals, because that’s where I found my sense of belonging. Ultimately, through the processes of healing, I found that love is within, it’s really not without. As a girl, what type of things did you do in nature to escape all the issues in your family? AM: I always wanted to be outside. I played on

the swing set, and I started riding horses at the age of 5. By age 8, I was in horseback riding lessons. From a very early age, I thought, “I’ve got to be around horses.” I had a baby-sitter who rode horses and right away, I was like, “I’ve got to do this.” She introduced me to the horse world and my parents allowed me to take lessons. I went to the barn as often as I could. Because a lot of bullying happened to me in school, I remember being at the barn and wrapping my arms around the horses, talking to them, and crying, and connecting with them. My family and my school weren’t places of safety and love, but it was instantly with the horses. All summer   see

& Healing Symposium The Heartland Medium: An Interview with Kelli Miller by Tim Miejan Read the uncut interview at Kelli Miller is a transformational speaker, professional psychic/medium and spiritual life coach who helps others connect with guidance to work with issues related to grief, relationships, career, the body and soul. She shares insights with clients to help them realize their own talents and strengths to maximize their potential. She’s also downright funny! She speaks from the heart — to the heart — and does so in a Midwestern, down-to-earth fashion by telling it like it is. The Omaha-area intuitive is a keynote speaker at the Minneapolis Psychic & Healing Symposium, returning on Saturday, Feb. 27, to Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center. Miller also will present a Post-Expo Workshop on Sunday, Feb. 28 — a beginning/intermediate class for people who are interested in learning more about how to develop their own psychic abilities. Kelli Miller spoke with The Edge by phone from her office in Elkhorn, Nebraska, about her personal experience with intuition and her upcoming events in the Twin Cities. Often professional psychics have some glimpse of connecting with ghosts or other beings when they are children. Did you have any type of experiences like that when you were a kid? Kelli Miller: A lot, yeah. My dad and his

brother moved to Schuyler, Nebraska, when I was about 1 year old. When I turned about 5, they were going to start a construction business on January 1st of that year. Well, my uncle was killed in a car accident on Christmas Eve, so my dad ended up selling everything off and got a job. A couple years went by and one day my dad said something to me about the car accident. I looked at him and said, “Well, that’s not how it happened.” He said, “Oh, really? How did it happen?” So I told him in detail how the car accident happened. He went sheet white and he just looked at me and he goes, “How in the hell did you know that?” I said, “Well, uncle Jim told me.” Dad said, “You know what? I believe you,

too, but I have never really been scared because I’m just like, “Oh, well, you know, I shine brighter than you do, and it’s no big deal.” I’ve been blessed not to have any serious negative energies around me or anything like that. It has been very light, very positive, very good for me. When did you first become aware that you had intuitive abilities that few others were experiencing? KM: About four years ago when, honestly, I

During the first half of her talk, she’ll speak of life on the other side; during the second half, she will do a live gallery reading. Admission is $33 in advance and $38 at the door. She also will present a daylong workshop, “Awaken Your Psychic Abilities ($174 in advance),” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis North in Brooklyn Center.

but from here on out why don’t you just come talk to me about this. Don’t be telling anybody else because they are not going to understand you.” So if anything would happen, and on occasion it would, I just went to talk to my dad about it. But as it turned out, my dad was deaf and had hearing aids. So half the stuff that I told him was just like patting me on the head going, “That’s nice.” He didn’t really get what I was saying. Our house that I grew up in used to be a church, so I heard a lot of hymns. When we went to church on Sunday, that same hymn was sung and my mom’s like, “Oh, you like this song.” She didn’t realize it was because I heard it every night. I was able to. I’ve always been able to talk to my Spirit guides. I thought that everybody could do that up until about three or four years ago. There are some negative spirits out there,

had a little bit too much to drink at a party and I opened up my mouth. A guy who was there was upset and just kept talking about his dad, and I’m thinking, “You know, your dad has been gone for eight years — you should be over it by now,” but oh, my, he just kept talking about his dad. I was thinking, “You know, it is not your dad’s birthday, it’s not your dad’s anniversary, get over it.” Later that day, after I had had a little bit too much to drink, I turned around and looked at him and said, “You know, I don’t know why in the hell you are so upset. Your dad is right behind you. He has got rainbow suspenders, a black-and-white label beer, and he is smoking a cigarette, and he was the life of the party then and he is still the life of the party now.” I turned back around and looked at my friends and they all went sheet white, saying, “How in the hell did you know that he was standing right there?” That’s when I realized I probably shouldn’t have been talking about this. No sooner than the next day, people were coming to me asking me for readings at the garden center where I worked. I was pretty adamant, saying, “I don’t do readings. I just manage the garden center here.” After a while, so many people kept coming and asking for me to read for them that I finally decided that to get them out of my store and be able to do my job, I needed to give them a reading after I got done with work. Six or seven months later, I ended up doing this full time. I have been doing this now for about three years now.

What is your intention for doing what you do? KM: I wake up every morning and the first

thing that I do is I say, “God, please show me what I can do to serve today.” My purpose is to help enlighten people. My purpose is to help people in their daily life to figure out what their potential is, figure out what their passion is, figure out what their purpose in life is. I’m here to be that bridge between Spirit and us, to guide people on what they   see

long, my baby-sitter and I would spend our days riding on trails. When I got older, I became involved with a camp and we would go backpacking. Did you ever think of ending your own life? AM: Yeah, there were moments of that, with

the pain of feeling rejected in the family, feeling rejected at school and feeling so alone and isolated and not understood and not embraced. My parents just did not have that ability at all. They saw the torment happening in school and they saw what was happening with my sensitivity, so they just tried to change me — and that made me feel even more like there was something really wrong with me. I felt deep pain, and I did have moments of, “I don’t know that I can go on.” But there was always something deeper pulling me to continue on the journey. There was always something deeper — a soul purpose — that always overrode those thoughts. How did your reaction to your early experiences in life manifest in your adult years? Did it continue after you got out of high school? AM: Yeah, it continued into my twenties.

It manifested in the form of anorexia, and it continued in my relationships with men. I still had the feeling that there was something wrong with me and the feeling of rejection from my mother and father. My mother was very controlling, one of those helicopter parents who was very critical. I ended up trying to fix myself, thinking that if I was small enough or if I was a good enough runner or if I somehow changed myself, these feelings of not being okay would go away. That resulted in a form of anorexia — and it was playing havoc with my health. It really wasn’t until I started waking up to the fact that I had anorexia, and waking up to what happened in my childhood, that the healing started to happen so I could change my world.

What led you to that point? AM: The pneumonia. When I was 25, I was

struck with pneumonia. By that time, I had lost touch with the horses from my early days, because I had gone off to college and I got in touch with running on the trails. That was my outlet and escape from everything. I spent any free moments I could running on the trails. When I got pneumonia, I tried to run and I couldn’t. Then my childhood asthma came back. I tried to run again, because at this point running was my only source of light in the darkness. The thought of not running — not being able to move outside in nature — was excruciatingly painful. But I had to stop running. That was my turning point. I got to the point where I couldn’t even walk because the pneumonia and asthma became so severe — and then my anorexia

really kicked up because I wasn’t able to run and deal with the darkness. I knew something was wrong with me, and all of those things became heightened all at once. That was when I had to look at what was happening. My bodily condition forced me to slow down. I had to sit with my feelings, and I had to stay and look at what had happened in my life up until the age of 25. I couldn’t run away from them anymore. That was really the catalyst for me to start to do the inner work, to change what was happening in my world because I had no other choice. Was there a person or a specific direction you turned to to do that? AM: I met Dr. Katherine through a friend at

work. She is a woman who channels angels and ascended masters. At that time, I was in a very dark place, not being able to run, or walk, very well — or breathe. My life really had taken a radical turn. I called this woman and I asked her what was happening to me. She told me what I was going through was for a very specific purpose, that I was here to awaken to my soul and I was here to heal and I was a healer and a teacher. She started to talk to me about what happened in my childhood. She said I was here to learn about love, that I didn’t have any of that in my childhood and part of my process was the journey to learn that. She talked to me about what was happening with my lungs and that what I was experiencing was the grief in my childhood. She gave me tools to start healing. She told me to start utilizing the self-love journal. Talking to this woman was a radical shift for me. I talked to her every month for about a year — a lot about my soul purpose, about healing, about energy work. And then I started to meet other people who did energy work, and then people who trained me in energy work.

Speak to me now about surrender. What does surrender mean to you and how does one surrender? AM: I think surrender is the first part of

the process of healing. Our bodies heal by allowing the light and the healing energies to flow. When we are constricted and controlling our world, we can’t allow that higher frequency to come into our bodies. Surrendering is surrendering what we know. It’s surrendering what we think life is to something higher — and trusting in the process. When I was in so much physical pain from the pneumonia and the asthma, it went on for about a year-and-a-half because I was still resistant. I was still in fight-orflight. I thought I was doing something wrong. Why am I not healing? Finally I got to the point of turning the process over to something greater than me. I had a very specific moment when I said, “Universe,

Angels, Higher Power, I give this over to you because I don’t know the way through and you do, and I surrender this to you.” I let go completely. And my life radically changed. There was so much energy flowing through me, so much unconditional love, light, God, whatever term you want to use. It was a miracle. So much light and love came through my whole body once the healing energy began. I was sweating profusely and I coughed up gallons of blood in that moment and all of my pneumonia and asthma was able to come out and heal. That happened because I surrendered over what I knew about healing and I surrendered over my judgment about my situation, and I let go of all the resistance I had to who I was and I allowed this unconditional love to come into me. The way we surrender is by saying, “Dear Universe, Dear God, Dear Spirit, I give this over to you for you to show me the way because I deserve to be healthy.” I really think it’s by us setting that intention. What inspired you to write your book, The Beauty of Wings? AM: When I felt all of this energy flowing

through me, I knew I had to sit down and write. The first 20 pages just came out of me. It was as if something greater than me was writing my thoughts, and it felt so incredible to get down my story. I wrote every time that happened. It would often be at 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. I felt this surge of energy and all I needed to do in that moment was write, and it felt so good. I didn’t even know that it was going to turn into a book. All I knew was that it felt so amazing to write about my story, so I kept doing it and doing it. Later, I met a woman who was also a healer and a writer, and I shared some of my writing with her. She told me, “I think you need to make this into a book.” And I thought, “Okay. I think I’m going to.” And it organically unfolded. For those sensitive kids out there, girls and boys who are finding every day a struggle to survive, what message do you have now for them? AM: That they’re really, really important in

this world and to love themselves unconditionally, like their soul loves them. Their work and their message is super important because we need sensitive people. We need gentle people. That’s what this planet needs. The animals and nature really respond to them. They are so important and don’t allow anybody to tell them otherwise. a For more information on Alexandra Mika, visit Tim Miejan is editor and co-publisher of The Edge. need to let go of or improve about their own life. Every reading that comes in my door is different. Some people want to know about an illness they can’t diagnose. Some people want a healing when it comes to a loved one who has crossed over, making sure that they did the right thing. I get people who are grieving. I get people who are really happy and are just like, “Well, I don’t know what is coming next.” Basically, I’m here to help people for their highest good. If I feel like I can’t connect with Spirit very well, I have no problem giving somebody their money back. It’s not about the money. It never has been. I imagine skepticism is common in rural America. How do you respond to it? KM: I like to tell people, “You know, you

don’t have to believe me. Simply ask Spirit to give you a sign — and usually within 48 hours, they will. All you have to do it ask. If you don’t believe me, ask if angels are real. You’ll see a sign. If you want to know if your loved ones are around, ask them for a sign. They will give you one.” It’s amazing to me how many people simply forget to ask. It says in the Good Book, “Ask and ye shall receive.” I’m going to have haters out there. I’m going to have people who are simply ignorant and are going to judge me for something that they don’t understand due to fear. And you know what? That’s okay. I’m not mad at those people. I never will be upset, because they just don’t know me. I’m just here to do my job. I’m fully aware that I am not going to make everybody happy, but I don’t honestly care what other people think. I care what I think. I also figure you know if I can make it in Nebraska, I can make it anywhere in the United States, because being here is pretty tough. I mean, it really is. You’ve got a lot more skeptical people here than perhaps anywhere else, so, but at the same time I understand why I chose to be here.

Are there ways that all of us are using intuition and psychic abilities, but we don’t identify them as such? KM: Absolutely! I tell people all the time, “I

am no different than anybody else. I simply pay attention to things most people don’t pay attention to.” Everybody has some sort of psychic ability, whether it’s clairsentient, clairaudient, clairvoyant, ESP, telepathy. Everybody has got something. So, it’s just identifying what that something is and then using it to your advantage. That’s the point of having it. Everybody has these abilities, and that’s why I love to teach. I’m getting pushed and motivated more and more to teach, because I want people to understand their own

potential, especially when it comes to their own psychic abilities. Everybody is psychic, absolutely! Not everybody is a medium, but everybody is psychic. What leads people to learn about their psychic abilities? KM: More than anything else, it’s usually

curiosity. Secondly, it’s my job to validate their experiences for them. I may tell somebody, “When you’re doing the dishes and you have a conversation with yourself, you didn’t have a conversation with yourself. You just had a conversation with your Spirit guide.” What happens is that you’re talking in your head and then all of a sudden, your logical brain pops in and says, “Now wait a second. Did I just have a conversation with myself?” That’s ego. That’s logic. It’s my job to validate the experience and say, “Okay, that’s real. That’s called clairaudience. You are actually hearing Spirit, but Spirit is going to come in in your own voice in your head, because if they came in their voice in your head you would freak the hell out.” It’s my job to help them to understand this.

What have you learned from those who have passed over and what do they want us to know about life after death — even about heaven and hell? KM: The biggest regret that I hear a lot of

from the other side is, “I wish I would have done more with my life. I wish I wouldn’t have cared what everybody else thought.” And, “I wish I would have loved more.” It’s amazing to me how nobody ever talks about money when they die. Not one person have I come across that says, “Well, I wish I would have saved more money.” No! They wish they would have spent that money and not waited for retirement. Love is big. A lot of people don’t express their love or they don’t know how to express their love. A lot of what they want to tell us has to do with loving one another, treating people as if they are your brother or your sister, and just really living life to the fullest with no regrets. As far as I’m concerned, we are in hell. Earth is where clarity and negativity exist side by side. It takes one tough soul to choose to incarnate here on Earth. So, I always tell people, “If you could survive this, heaven is a piece of cake.” A lot people like to think, “Oh, just because they murdered somebody they are going to go to hell.” Well, not necessarily. We’re all a piece of God’s light. We are all going to eventually go back home, even people who don’t believe. So, it’s pretty rare to talk to somebody who has not crossed over, for whatever reason. Somebody might come in to see me only a week after their dad died. It may be too soon. Let him get adjusted there. I also put the intent out there that I don’t

want to talk to anybody not in heaven. If they are not there, I’d rather not have a chat. More often than not, the general public’s knowledge of mediums comes from television from shows like “Medium,” “The Long Island Medium,” and the new show “Hollywood Medium.” How do these shows help or hinder the work that professional mediums like you do every day in towns and cities across the country? KM: I can’t say that it’s a bad thing because

they make mediumship more acceptable. I’m more acceptable in society now because of those shows than if those shows were not on TV. It makes me look a little bit more credible instead of kooky. However, you have to remember that it is television. I don’t think the Long Island Medium, when the camera is not rolling, goes up to people and says, “Excuse me, your mom is talking.” That’s been put on for TV — and I think people understand that. But people ask me, “Well, don’t you go up and talk to people about what you’re seeing in the grocery store?” I’m like, “In Nebraska? Are you kidding me? Grandma’s going to whip out a Bible and hit me with it. No way!” For the most part, I don’t do that.

What are your expectations for your PostExpo Workshop on “Awakening Your Psychic Abilities” and what will participants there experience? KM: My two favorite things are getting up

on stage and teaching, no joke! I teach three different classes: Beginning Psychic Abilities, Advanced Psychic Abilities, and Mediumship Abilities. This one will just be my beginning one. I’m going to talk in-depth about how psychic abilities work, how to recognize them, how to remove any blockages, how to amplify them, how they work, and chakras and things like that. I get pretty detailed so people can leave and begin working on it right away. It’s really going to be interactive, so I always encourage people to bring any questions with them, so you can finally get some answers.

What final message would you like to leave with our readers? KM: You have to stay true to you. Always

speak your Truth. Be you. Don’t try to compare yourself to anybody else, because you’re not like anybody else. Be your unique you. And that’s hard to figure out who you are, but figure out your own unique you. That’s a journey in itself. a For more information on Kelli Miller, visit Tim Miejan is editor and co-publisher of The Edge. Contact him at 651.578.8969 or email Copyright © 2016. Aligning to Truth & Knowledge A Pleiadian Message

by Christine Day Beloved ones, we greet you. We are here at this time to witness you as you open up to the unlimited new opportunities that have been revealed to you since the shift at the time of the New Year. In the first month of what you call January, your energetic and physical systems of your body went through a powerful shift with the opening up of those series of strong destiny lines that came into form on your planet. These destiny lines hosted extreme forces of light that redefined the energies on your planet earth, enabling you to go beyond what you had been able to experience dimensionally. These forces of light contained the understandings of Truth of the “New Dawning” time. These powerful transformative energies came through a destiny timeline at the beginning of 2016 to those of you who were ready to birth through the multi-dimensional veils. Now in February, you move forward into yet another dimensional setting of frequency light currents, resurrecting yourself into other aspects of your alignment to Truth and knowledge. A further series of flowing light currents will be activated onto your planet. These light currents are designed for you to be able to access new revelations of understanding of this time, to remember your heritage and your plan that you have set in motion for now. We have called this coming year but a “moment in time,” for that is what it is beyond 3rd dimensional illusion. It is simply a multi-dimensional moment of direct experience of rebirth for all of you who are Seekers on your path. Powerful transformation

Your physical systems within your body have undergone a powerful transformation since the New Year. The cells of your body are carrying a new energetic light that is allowing you to move to an expanded experience of awakening, to a new meeting point of Self. We, the Pleiadians, are here with you to offer support in this next phase of your transition. As you open through these expanded directional light currents, a new phase of unique sacred experiences will be revealed to you. Through these revelations, you will be able to open into many direct experiences of your own higher self, so that you will begin to perceive your Self from a multidimensional perspective. Through this direct experience of your multi-dimensionality, you will be able to receive and experience your self from another perspective. This will support you 20

in being able to remember who you are in your unlimited aspect of Self, for it will allow you to open up and receive your natural spiritual gifts to complete aspects of your destiny now. The cells of your body are going to be transformed by these flowing light currents. An electrical redesign process will take place within your systems. This redesign will support the birthing of a multi-dimensional awareness of your higher self. The restructuring of your electrical energy will allow this new frequency of light of Self to be held within your physical cells. Enabling you to begin to access and anchor to the multi-dimensional higher realm aspects of your higher self. These light flow currents are an important element to your own transformation. These dimensional flows move you through unique doorways and play the role of aligning you like a magnet to expanded aspects of your heart space. These doorway openings through your heart will allow you to consciously link within the Collective Consciousness of the Universe. As you allow this anchoring, you can begin to take ownership of your own sacred design within the flow. There will be a holy process of forging your sacred design as you become one within the essence of your being. The cells of your body will be infused with this light flow design; they will hold the imprint of your own sacredness of Self: “You are who you have been waiting for.” A changing perspective

Through these light flow currents there will be many multi-dimensional doorways to which you will be given access. These doorways have been designed specifically

to bring you into a series of alternative expanded experiences so that you can begin to recognize your Self from a Higher Realm perspective. This changing perspective will enable you to begin to experience your Self from another dimensional viewpoint. This birthing process will allow you to change your role and relationship with the rest of the Universal Community. Know that you will be going through some rapid transformational experiences at this juncture. You may feel out of place within your own physical body during the beginning stages of your next unfolding process. You will be moving into unfamiliar territory and feel as though there is nothing left to hold onto, nothing that you recognize during this next phase. Your 3rd dimensional world will change. The illusions within your world can no longer be held in place. Know as you transform, all that is illusion will fall away. So that which has been working for you in your life will no longer suffice. It is important to realize that this “breaking down” is an intrinsic part of your transitional phase. A lot needs to fall away, and that which does not hold Truth will simply go. The perfect place

We are reminding you that, “all is in hand,” and so it is, you are in the perfect place at this time for your next steps to unfold. These series of experiences that you have created right now is exactly what is necessary to lead you to your next step. Your ego mind may have many doubts and questions. This is to be expected. Know that there is nothing you need to work out. You will be moved where you need to be, and doors of opportunity will open when the time is right. The ego mind has a huge need “to under-

stand” everything. Your ego mind is unable to understand anything beyond the 3rd dimensional illusion. “The need to understand” is a very 3rd dimensional ego mind process. As your ego tries to understand and get the answers, you are closed off from your heart connection and in a separated state. This separated state moves you away from your dimensional flow current. It is important to simply witness the questioning from the ego mind but not allow your Self to be moved off balance and taken out of the light dimensional flows to which you are currently linked. It is now your time to begin to experience your Self differently within these new settings of these higher dimensional experiences of light that you are. Within this unfolding process there is a new depth of knowingness about your self as a “being of light” that you are ready to become. It is your time to begin to appreciate the multidimensional aspects of who you have always been. This realization plays an essential part of your awakening process. It is imperative at this time that you begin to receive yourself from this higher realm perspective of Being. Knowledge

Your own experience of yourself “in the moment” can give you deeper insights of the role that you are to play within the collective energies of the Universe now. Through this “owning” of your divine light frequency signature, you will be able to access specific dimensional doorways that will reveal to you your sacred blueprint design for this time. As you align back to this blueprint of Self, you can begin to manifest through your cells your imprint of light. This imprint of light carries the sacred knowledge of Truth of which you are a part. This “knowledge” has been held within the Collective Consciousness in the Universe for lifetimes awaiting you. This “knowledge” contains the keys to who you are in your entirety, these keys are your legacy, and they belong to you. This “knowledge” brings forth change. Like the springtime, it creates new growth for your Self on a monumental level. This is your sacred time for renewal, for a metamorphic change within your Self to take place. Now you can begin to reach within your heart space to align through to your own

unique frequency of light consciousness. You are able to move through the veils into new realms and levels of receivership within the multi-dimensional aspects of your heart space. Your time

This is your time to be given access to many Truths and Understandings so that you can move towards new perspectives within the full multi-dimensional world. As you begin to open up into this new awareness of yourself, an echoing from the Universe will support the transformation of every experience within your existence in every moment. The Universe will respond to the changing new perspective that you have within your Self so that you can move more freely within the multi-dimensional framework that does exist. This mirroring will allow you to begin to play out your life differently, spontaneously leaving behind the 3rd dimensional drama and moving with a sense of clarity and purpose. This unfolding of your pattern energy flow will naturally carry a new integrity of intention through the elements of the unfolding of your own sacred union. This process of your heart’s metamorphosis aligns you further into pure states of expression held within the universe. These cycles within the heart create a deepening of your own expression of purity, and at the same time, expand your own unique pattern of your divine expression. Your role that you are to play at this transitional time on your earth plane will be unveiled in detail to you through this sacred flow. You will find yourself able to move forward with confidence, as you become the sacred design, living out that which is held within the cells of your heart space. Find your place

We call out to each one of you to begin to find your place with others on your planet, to form a specific “energetic group pathway.” Forming these groups is an essential destiny design for this time on your earth plane. Each “energetic group pathway” has a unique frequency signature, and every one of you belongs to a specific “group pathway.” You need the energy of your group to complete certain aspects of your mission that you have pre-agreed to fulfill for your

own unfolding. Your own personal imprint will begin to impact others that are in the same “energetic group pathway.” Together as a group, you will form a series of sacred synergy designs through your collective personal imprints. We liken it to a jigsaw piece fitting perfectly into a puzzle. Each member of your group will be individual and unique in the energy of their imprint. Together there will be a sacred synergy created through the collective divine perfection of light weaving through all of those within your group. Your group plays a significant role as you activate this specific divine consciousness aspect of energy. This strongly impacts your earth plane and Universe. PROCESS FOR ACCESSING ALIGNING TO THE LIGHT FLOW CURRENTS IN YOUR HEART   Hold your heart with the palms of your hands on your chest.   Align to your heart by using Sacred Sound, ANAE SHEAN. Breathe into your heart.   Bring your hands to a prayer position, palms of hands together. Feel the connection of both palms touching. Breathe into that connection.   Bring the palms of your hands slowly apart. Palms are still facing each other.   Bring

your awareness into the space between your palms. Breathe and let go into the space.

  Now use this sound to begin to align to the Light Flow Currents and birth them through the heart. First sound phase: EE…. Second sound phase: EE… AEH…. Third sound phase: EE…AEH…LATAH. Work with these cycles of sounds, letting go and just being with these new doorway connections in your heart. We send blessings to each one of you, The Pleiadians. a Christine Day is a leading spiritual teacher, healer, channel and author. A proven recipe: Indian Lentils with Rice Food First

by Nutrition Julie Food First means making what you eat a priority. Making it simple, not more complicated than it needs to be! Food First means using food as your medicine. Farm before Pharma, I say! Food First means listening to your own body and giving it what it needs to get back in balance. If you are like me, you may have gathered a lot of recipe books over the years. Some are hardly ever used and look barely read, while others have worn out bindings, spills on the pages and possibly even a burned corner or two. My favorite cookbooks are the ones that make preparing and eating real, whole foods a simple and enjoyable part of my day. Back in the 1990s, my mom gifted me a copy of the Reader’s Digest Live Longer Cookbook that had a large “Meatless Main Dishes” section. At that time I was living on a cattle ranch in Idaho, dying to learn how to work more vegan and vegetarian dishes into my life. This cookbook was the beginning of that journey and is now the way I prefer to eat. The recipe below was one that was enjoyed by all five kids as they were growing up. I hope you enjoy it, as well!

Indian Lentils with Rice 2 T oil 2 medium-size yellow onions, thinly sliced 3 C chicken or veggie stock 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp curry powder 1/2 tsp ground cardamom 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp ground ginger 1/8 tsp ground red pepper (cayenne) 1/8 tsp sugar 1 C tomato juice 3/4 C long-grain brown rice 3/4 C dried brown lentils, sorted and rinsed 4 small carrots, peeled and sliced thinly 1 C plain yogurt (or non-dairy version) 1 T. minced fresh mint, cilantro, or parsley for garnish In a large heavy saucepan, heat the oil over moderately high heat until very hot but not smoking. Add the onions and stir to coat with the oil. Add 1/4 cup of the stock, reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 5 minutes or until the onions are soft. Uncover, raise the heat to moderate, and continue to cook, stirring constantly, 3 minutes more or until the onions are golden. Add the garlic, cumin, curry powder, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, red pepper, sugar, remaining 2-3/4 cups of stock, tomato juice, rice, lentils and carrots. Bring the liquid to a boil, then lower the heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Uncover and stir the mixture. If it seems dry, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water until the liquid just covers it. Continue to cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until the lentils are tender. Top each portion with 1/4 cup of yogurt and a sprinkling of fresh herbs if desired. Making Real Magic by Robert Moss An excerpt from Sidewalk Oracles: Playing with Signs, Symbols and Synchronicity in Everyday Life We are embarking on a path of real magic. Real magic is the art of bringing gifts from another world into this world. We do this when we go dreaming and when we remember to bring something back. In dreaming, we go to other realities that may include places of guidance, initiation, challenge, adventure, healing. When we bring something back from these excursions, and take action in ordinary life to embody the guidance and energy we receive, that is a practice of real magic. We go dreaming in the night. We do it quite spontaneously. We can do it by setting an intention for our nocturnal adventures. We can do it as lucid dreamers, awakened to the fact that we are dreaming and able to navigate the dreamlands consciously. We can do it in the way of the shaman, traveling intentionally, conscious and hyperawake, riding the drum to locales beyond the ordinary, and bringing back gifts. We can also walk the roads of everyday life as conscious dreamers, learning to recognize

how the world is speaking to us in signs and symbols, and how a deeper order of events may reveal itself through the play of synchronicity. In night dreams and conscious excursions, we get out there; we go near or far into other orders of reality where the rules of linear time and Newtonian physics do not apply. Through synchronicity, powers of the deeper reality come poking and probing through the walls of our consensual hallucinations to bring us awake. Sometimes they work to confirm or encourage us in a certain line of action; sometimes they intercede to knock us back and discourage us from persisting in the worst of our errors. Synchronicity is when the universe gets personal. Navigating by synchronicity is the dreamer’s way of operating 24/7. Though the word synchronicity is a modern invention — Jung made it up because he noticed that people have a hard time talking about coincidence — the phenomenon has been recognized, and highly valued, from the most ancient times. The Greek philosopher Heraclitus maintained that the deepest order in our experi-

enced universe is the effect of “a child playing with game pieces” in another reality. As the game pieces fall, we notice the reverberations, in the play of coincidence. When we pay attention, we find that we are given signs by the world around us every day. Like a street sign, a synchronistic event may seem to say Stop or Go, Dead End or Fast Lane. Beyond these signs, we find ourselves moving in a field of symbolic resonance that not only reflects back our inner themes and preoccupations, but provides confirmation or course correction. A symbol is more than a sign: it brings together what we know with what we do not yet know. Through the weaving of synchronicity, we are brought awake and alive to a hidden order of events, to the understory of our world and our lives. As in the scene in the movie The Matrix when the black cat crosses the room in the same way twice, riffs of coincidence (for which I have coined the term reincidence) can teach us that consensual reality may be far less solid than we supposed. You do not need to travel far to encounter powers of the deeper world or to hear oracles speak. You are at the center of the multidimensional universe right now. The doors to the Otherworld open from wherever you are, and the traffic moves both ways. a Robert Moss is the author of Sidewalk Oracles and numerous other books about dreaming, shamanism, and imagination. He is a novelist, poet, and independent scholar, and the creator of Active Dreaming, an original synthesis of dreamwork and shamanism. The genius in simplicity by Tina Kolniak The idea of just being is an interesting one. These days we are all so busy trying to get ahead and become accomplished that we are creating more chaos than peace. What if our purpose is to just be? What if our latent gifts come to us naturally by living in a way that is most meaningful to us while cutting out all the excess clutter? When I think about some of the happiest times in my life, they almost always involve some form of nature, usually water. I love swimming in the ocean in the full glory of the sun. I love the smell of fresh air, salty water and suntan lotion. The sight of palm trees, misty mountains and sand in every shade inspires me. To me, the ocean waves are the greatest symphony ever composed. They’re elemental and primordial. Those are the moments that make me feel whole and connected to everything I see, hear, feel, taste, smell and know. When I’m in these experiences, I never worry about whether I am mastering the universal spiritual laws, contributing enough positive energy to the elevation of global consciousness, or manifesting my ultimate desires, because it’s in these moments that I am my wildest dreams and ultimate desires. Just. Being. Me. The peace we exude is contagious and it permeates the matrix of energy to which we all belong. Isn’t that enough? Why are we pushing so hard to do more, say more, be more and create more? Yes, our souls have a deep need for creative expression. It’s part of the reason we are here on this physical plane, but what are we giving up by chasing every whim? And when will we have time to enjoy the pure bliss of being human? One problem is that certain aspects of our culture have created an unhealthy focus on wealth, as opposed to abundance, and personal image and fame, as opposed to the greater good. These days, anyone

can achieve his or her 15 minutes of fame without any real impact on that person’s life or contribution to society. It just creates more noise, more distraction and more chaos. Perhaps the answer is simplicity: simplicity in things, in relationships, in routines and in expectations we place on ourselves. Perhaps if we simplify our day-to-day lives and spend time doing the things that make us feel most connected, we will experience the peace and clarity needed to discover our greatest talents without overburdening ourselves with what everyone else is doing. And perhaps, then, we can become the most beautiful collective of souls contributing our own special recipes of genius to the world. a Tina Kolniak holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Juris Doctor.
