Tripple Glazed oversized windows
By designing the houses with oversized glazing, such as the vast sliding door, we’re looking to bring as much natural light into each space as possible. The windows we’ve chosen go above and beyond the thermal requirements set out by Building Control, which means they’re great at keeping your heat in during the winter and out during the summer. When compared to an existing 1930s terrace in the area, our windows benefit from 71% less heat loss.
Air source heat pumps
This fully electric system works by leveraging the temperature difference between the air inside and outside your home. You can think of it like a refrigerator in reverse. Air source heat pumps are 3 to 4 times more efficient than typical gas and electric boilers –it’s no surprise that they’re known as the low-carbon future of home heating.

Underfloor heating
When used in tandem with our air source heat pump system, underfloor heating is up to 40% more efficient than radiators. This is due to its larger surface area; underfloor heating doesn’t need to be heated to as high a temperature as a radiator to provide the same increase in room temperature.
Energy
Each living space is dual aspect, bringing light into the house throughout the whole day. This means less electrical lights are needed, saving you energy and money. Additionally to a low-energy lighting scheme the house is well insulated with triple glazed windows which reduces heating and cooling demands. The Solar thermal is an additional factor to save engergy by preheating water for the underfloor heating and hot water supply. The directional and focused LED lights The lifespan of LEDs is 10 times longer with 90% efficiency when compared to conventional lighting, meaning only a fraction of energy is lost in heat. The bottom line is that your annual energy consumption and replacement costs are reduced.

Solar Thermal
Solar water heating, often referred to as ‘solar thermal’, involves using solar panels to absorb the heat of the sun and transfer it to the water you use in the home. Solar thermal technology works alongside our Air source heat pump to pre-heat water that is fed into a hot water storage cylinder. This reduces the amount of energy needed to bring the hot water up to a useable temperature, saving money on heating bills and reducing carbon emissions.

MATERIALS
Timber floor
Wood is the only renewable choice of building material for flooring. Plastics are derived from fossil fuels, concrete and other forms of flooring can damage our environment through the energy it takes for their production.
We are very conscious of our environment and will only supply ethically harvested wood flooring. We are FSC certified and follow the Timber Trade Federation’s Responsible Purchasing Policy. This section reviews our ethical code of conduct and provides links to our certifications.

Paint
The Graphenstone products use lime made in wood burning kilns, which produces a high degree of whiteness and purity. This natural lime, has been produced in this way since the midnineteenth century.
Furthermore, the lime cycle is 100% natural, from the wood used to feed the oven, through the firing, to the collection.
Ecosphere Premium is a natural mineral paint for interiors with a matt finish. White & Colour is ideal for construction, restoration and repainting. Thanks to its formula based on artisanal lime with graphene technology, it is breathable, avoids condensation, is washable, does not yellow and absorbs CO2 (the majority in the first 30 days of curing).
