from the Chairperson of the Board

2011 is the 40th anniversary of Santos Land Development Corporation and we have much to celebrate.

From our humble beginnings, we have developed subdivisions, commercial buildings, mall and a resort, that are now part of this city’s landmarks Today, Santos Land is recognized as one, if not the leader, in the field of land developers and community builders in Davao City. However, we should not rest on our laurels. Our goal is to build more communities that have more than basic necessities for families to live a comfortable life and still be affordable even to the poor.

To the memory of the founders of this company, our grandparents Nicolas and Iluminada Santos, to the board of directors, stockholders and all our employees- we celebrate 40th year of Santos Land Devt.

Corp. with a noble idea that we not only strive for financial gains but also work hard to improve the lives of our people through sturdier and cheaper housing communities.

Each one of us, from the Board of Directors to the President and down to the field operators, have a duty and responsibility to uplift the lives of Davaoeños.

At about this time 40 years ago, our parents initiated this enterprise in order to transform into reality their vision of a family-based business endeavor which is nurtured by members of the family and which will contribute its share for the betterment of the Davao community. On October 15, 2011, we will celebrate the anniversary of that endeavor. We proclaim that vision has, indeed, been successfully translated into reality through the sheer grit, determination and hard work of the people composing our company.

During this time of event, we look back and count achievements – and realize that we have a lot to celebrate, come October 15. We have accomplishments too numerous to count – accomplishment that have transformed ourselves, our company and our world. We recount initiatives that have provided shelter to literally thousands of families over all these years by successfully marshalling our limited resources to attain our avowed ends.

Indeed, from nothing but raw, undeveloped land during the onset of the ’70`s, we now see a Santos Land that is operationally robust, an acknowledged player in the real estate field, and a financially sound business enterprise.

Nonetheless, while we have counted achievements, we must also look forward to our expectations for the years still to come. Let us reflect on what we treasure and value the most about our humble beginnings and use this reflection to inspire and guide us to become that we want to be in the future.

The revolution of this company reminds us that we will not be the same next year as last. The Santos Land of the future will not be the Santos Land of the past. The market we serve is changing and so must we.

Our company has much to look forward to as it prepares to confront the challenges of an industry that is going through a time of radical change. Because of exponential progress in science and technology, we are moving into an era that demands innovation and ability to adapt to change, where the market not only demands top quality products that meet their more discriminating expectations but also top caliber personnel who are nimble-footed and quick to respond to the dynamics of an ever-changing marketplace.

Yet, even as we change and vow to be open to further changes, there are some things that we will not change. These are our adherence to the set of values that our ascendants have inculcated in us since childhood as well as our belief in an Almighty who mandates us to respect and uplift the dignity of man. In this regard, even as we work hard to satisfy our professional to our stockholders, we will work just as hard to meet our obligations to all other stakeholders of this company, including our fellow workers who form the backbone of this organization. And, we will continue to cultivate the traits that our parents have painstakingly ingrained us through all these years: love of work, a genuine concern for people and an enterprising spirit.
