A
total of 519 �irearms have been placed under the guardianship of the Police Regional Of�ice (PRO) 11 after a heightened security operation and implementation of the election gun ban for the May 2019 polls.
Based on the data report of PRO 11, 365 out of the 519 �irearms were for safekeeping, 99 surrendered, 50 were placed under the custody of the agency and �ive were con�iscated during the nationwide implementation of gun ban which was effective from January 13 to present. The said 519 �irearms are composed of 330 low power �irearms (LPF) and 189 high power �irearms (HPF). Aside from that, a total of 1,248 ammunitions, two magazines, and four pieces of materials for making an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) were also under the custody of PRO 11. This accomplishment was a joint effort of PRO 11's clusters that includes the Davao City Police Of�ice (DCPO), Davao Occidental Provincial Police Of�ice (DOCPPO), Davao del Sur Provincial Police Of�ice (DSPPO), Compostela Valley Provincial Police Of�ice (CVPPO), Davao del Norte Provincial Police Of�ice (DNPPO) and Regional Mobile Force Battalion
(RMFB). Meanwhile, PRO 11 regional director BGen Marcelo Morales, on Monday, April 15, said all con�iscated and yielded �irearms were properly endorsed to the PNP Regional and Provincial Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination. Morales, however, said the agency is �ine-tuning all coordination, security plans and preparations to proactively respond to the mission at hand to provide security for the 2019 elections slated May 13. "We, in the Philippine National Police (PNP) together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Commission on Elections (COMELEC), still on a continuous lengthy discussion on the different electoral process that will take place this May," Morales said, as they aim a peaceful, orderly and fair elections. PRO 11's continuous effort against loose and undocumented �irearms, Morales said, is in accordance with Republic Act 10591 and nationwide
