MORE TERMINALS North, South bound bus terminals needed: DCOTT By MAYA M. PADILLO
D
ue to heavy trafic of buses at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) particularly during peak hours, creation of additional bus terminals in north and south areas of Davao City is now being proposed.
Aisa Usop, manager of DCOTT told media in
Kapehan sa Dabaw that the creation of additional
terminals was already approved by the City Council. The said ordinance for its implementation is already in the City Planning and Development Ofice (CPDO). Usop added that areas identiied where the proposed terminals will be set up include Toril and Buhangin. “Tinuod nga nag-
kadaghan ang buses sa terminal especially during peak season. In fact, we are coordinating with the CTTMO when it comes to trafic particularly sa terminal drive and Maya Street,” she said. DCOTT, which is only 1.7 hectares, can no longer cater to more bus units. “The property is not enough to cater addition-
al bus units. Gina-control namo ang mga bus nga naga-sulod sa DCOTT,” she said. Usop also cited that the seating capacity of the buses also increased from the previous 39-45 to 5059. DCOTT has recorded an increase in revenues. Usop said they were able to exceed from its target
income of P50 million for 2019, she announced that as of November last year their collections already reached P64 million. She cited fees from bus trips, van trips, rentals from stakeholders such as stalls and stands, porters, and peddlers in DCOTT as sources of the terminal’s income.
