transport and to address the worsening traf�ic congestion in the city. More than 7,000 jeepney drivers and operators will be affected once the operation of the modern bus system starts. However, the HPBS also open up new job op-
portunities as it will need around 1,000 bus drivers. The Department of Transportation (DoTr) released a statement in December last year announcing that the bus system is scheduled for implementation from 2020 to 2023, which aims
to “provide an ef�icient and affordable mode of transport for Dabawenyos through the delivery” of a modern HPBS. It interconnected bus services prioritizing along the 137-kilometer core network, and 489 km of feeder routes.
