discouraging mass gatherings including religious and faith-based activities
following the declaration of a public health emergency in the entire country due to the threat of the new coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19). “Ang instructions namin sa mga Muslims ay sumunod sa mga guidelines at gawin natin ang part natin at huwag na po dagdagan ang problema.
Maging solusyon sa problema sa paggawa ng mga nanarapat at sundin ang guidelines ng local government of Davao,” said Alim Jamal Munib, director of Madrasa Comprehensive Development and Promotion Program in Davao City in a live interview on government-owned Davao City Disaster Radio on
Wednesday. In a statement read by Munib, Darul Ifta of Region 11, the temporary suspension of congregational prayers in mosques within Davao region is in response to the preventive measures regarding the Covid-19 outbreak. It also stated that due to the rapid spread of the
virus, “Salatud Dhuhr” or the fourth of the �ive daily obligatory prayers (salah) for practicing Muslims must be performed by families within their houses in replacement to the “Salatul Jumu'ah” or sermon delivered in mosques before the Friday prayer on Fridays.
