he Department of Agriculture (DA) sees huge potential in Halal-related products particularly in relation to tourism. Despite the rosy prospects, however, its promotion remains uncer-
tain. Halal being a broad process, it comes with some challenges which
includes the identi�ication of a Halal certifying body. Halal certi�ication gives assurance to all Muslim consumers that the product is processed in compliance with the Shariah laws, and for non-Muslims that the Ha-
lal products are quality products based on Halalan toyyiban (Halal and wholesome) concepts as it integrates the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
