Hograisers ask Mayor Sara to stick with EO on pork ban By MAYA M. PADILLO
Military personnel participate in a simulation exercise held at Sta. Ana Port in Davao City in this undated photo. President Rodrigo Duterte's decision on the possible lifting of martial law in Davao City would depend on the recommendation of military ground commanders. This comes after presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte sought the lifting of martial law in the city. Lean Daval Jr
group of hograisers in Davao City is urging Mayor Sara Duterte continue implementing the Executive Order (EO) that temporarily bans the entry of live pigs and pork products in Davao City after reports that Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Ano issued a memorandum encouraging local government units to lift the ban on processed pork products in Visayas and Mindanao.
Alvin Teves, past president of the Hog Farmers Association of Davao Inc (HOGFADI) told media in Habi at Kape that they will write a letter to the mayor urging her to stick to the EO to prevent the entry of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the city. "Secretary Ano already issued his statement
this yesterday so we are requesting the city government to hold on to the EO," Teves said. "Ano is not imposing but he is suggesting LGUs to lift the ban. Maybe of Trade issues. I guess their more on or wala seguro Nila nakita ang value or Kung unsa ka dako ang effect sa industry if we get hit in Visayas
