espite the government’s decision to end of the peace negotiations with the New People’s Army (NPA), more Communist NPA Terrorist Group (CNTG) members have decided to yield voluntarily to authorities, the military reported.
Major Ezra Balagtey, Armed Forces of the Philippines-Eastern Mindanao Command (AFP-EastMinCom) spokesperson told Edge Davao on Monday, March 25, CNTG members surrendered over frustrations and hardships. In two separate instances on Sunday, March 24, at 8:00am, two CNTG regulars surrendered to troops of the 67th Infantry Battalion, according to Balagtey. “These CNTG members turned themselves in voluntarily because of frustrations and hardships,” he said. Balagtey revealed that a certain "Dodong", a Team Leader of CNTG being monitored in the central boundary of Compostela Valley Province and Davao Oriental, voluntarily surrendered without �irearms at Sitio Guang-Guang, Brgy Dahican Mati City, Davao Oriental.
"He sought the help of Barangay Of�icials of Barangay Taocanga, Manay, Davao Oriental after he left the CNTG on March 21, 2019," he said. An Allias "Kokoy" of the same group yielded to Tubaon, Patrol Base Brgy Tubaon, Taraggona, DOR on the same day with the assistance of an unnamed civilian. "In his reavelation, he left the group after almost four months stint. He was recruited on December 8, 2018."
