W

hen in Davao City, act like Dabawenyos do. This was the friendly but stern reminder by organizers of the Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) meet to all delegates from other cities and provinces of Davao Region to respect the existing ordinances of the city.

Department of Education in Region XI (DepEd

XI) spokesperson Jenielito “Dodong” Atillo said on

Wednesday that all delegates will have to undergo customary bag checks and frisking to insure that no lawless elements will enter the city. He said that the intelligence unit confirmed that as of now, there are no threats during the activity that will kickoff this Sunday, January 27 at the University of the Philippines -

Mindanao (UP-Min) Sports Complex in Mintal, Davao City. “Despite the wonderful news, we will not slow down our efforts in tightening our security,” Atillo said. He noted that last year, there were no recorded violators in the DAVRAA staging which the city also hosted.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Sr. Insp. Teresita Gaspan said that 1,472 security personnel will be deployed during the duration of the event. The DAVRAA meet will end on February 2. “Security personnel coming from the delegates are not yet counted,” Gaspan said. Each delegation accom-

modated in designated billeting schools around the city will be provided with no less than 16 security personnel. “DCPO will also be deploying two personnel for the police assistance desk,” Gaspan said. Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) spokesperson Chief Insp. Jason Baria
