HE regional director of the Philippine National Police in Davao region (PNP PRO-11) on Wednesday called on all the people and officials and employees of various line agencies and local government units (LGUs) in the region to unite in the continuing fight against illegal drugs. Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan said during an interview over Radyo ng Bayan in Davao City that police efforts in fighting illegal drugs will prosper and bring in positive results if all sectors of the society will provide support

and help. “The President has called for us to unify and fight against the drug menace. The PNP is now exerting its efforts to fight illegal drugs. He also explained the vital role of families as the foundation of the society emphasizing that the fight against drugs starts within the family.

“Kung malakas ang foundation ng pamilya ay walang titikim o hahawak ng droga. Kayang i-resist ang temptation ng drugs kung masaya ang ating pamilya,” he said. Gaerlan said that random drug tests on police officers will be an on-going activity in the entire command of the PNP in Davao region. “I will not announce the schedules (of drugs tests) as these will be random and surprise. All police officers should be clean from drugs,” he said. A total of 61 police commis-
