LGUs rallied to back drive for federalism

TOP government official rallied local government executives to the eventual systemic shift of Mindanao to federalism which will lead to a federal form of government in the Philippines. “It’s now or never,” said Secretary Datu HJ. Abdul Khayr Alonto, chair of the Mindanao Development Authority while addressing the 10th Philippine Councilors’ League in Manila. “This is the most opportune time and we intend to bolster the push for Federalism by laying the foundations of a self-reliant, self-sufficient and progressive Mindanao, so that our experience could cascade to the rest of the country,” said the Secretary, adding that the Mindanao’s shift to federalism will enable the island region to help in nation-building. Secretary Alonto, who is the event’s guest speaker added that Mindanao is currently experiencing an unprecedented economic improvement coupled with significant investment interests from both local and international businesses which heightened during the Duterte presidency.

Tayactac said during the LPDHI groundbreaking ceremony at Lanang, Davao City on Tuesday that the medical facility will be constructed as a “green building” as willed by LPDHI chairman of the board and PNS Land Development, Inc. president Lemuel R. Podador. Tayactac explained resources will be used efficient-

ly to equitably meet the developmental and environmental needs of the present and future generations.
