AVAO City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte wants to set up a revolutionary government if he gets elected as president in May next year, saying this is the only solution to fight criminality and eradicate corruption plaguing the country today. Duterte said a revolutionary government will pave the way for federalism, a form of government which the extremely popular mayor has been advocating since the torch of leadership was turned over to him by Mindanao leaders last year. “The well spring of corruption is the constitution itself. For as long as the Constitution
mandates that all money for government emanates from Congress, there will be no hope for the country,” the Duterte camp quoted the mayor as boldly announcing to the editors of the Philippine Daily Inquirer Tueasday evening. “It is where all the wheeling and dealing starts,” he added. Duterte said the gravity of the illegal drugs problem coupled and the systemic defects in the country’s political set-up are the two main reasons why he wants a revolutionary government if he gets elected president in May 2016.
