NO RELOCATION SITE Settlers under Bankerohan Bridge I are not ‘house owners’

hE informal settlers occupying the area under the Gov. Generoso (Bankerohan) Bridge I are not qualified to avail themselves of the Davao City government’s housing and homesite programs and services.
City housing and homesite division chief Roy Ryan A. Rigor said during I- Speak Media Forum yesterday that the city government has not committed to provide relocation site to the settlers who will be temporarily displaced with the reconstruction of Davao City Water District (DCWD) Bridge Crossing Pipe. Rigor said that of the 126 structures, only one owner is qualified to avail of the relocation site based on the census tagging conducted by the city government on informal settlers living near the waterways
and other danger zones. Most of the affected settlers under Bankerohan Bridge are just “renters “ with actual owners already left or reside outside Davao City particularly in Lanao provinces. Rigor said that one of the actual owners who is now based in Lanao approached his office upon learning of the impending demolition of his structure. He said that for now, the renters can use the financial assistance shelled out by DCWD in looking some tem-
