OSSES suffered by various business operations caused by the Davao International Airport runway accident Sunday night have reached P250 million as of yesterday afternoon.
The figure was reached through a joined computation and estimates made by the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. for the private sector, and the Davao City Investment Promotions Center (DCIPC) and City Tourism Office (CTO), both headed by Jason Mag-

r. Jess Delgado of the Ateneo de Davao University’s (ADDU’s) Department of Entrepreneurship, one of the passengers of Cebu Pacific’s ill-fated flight 5J971, felt that the landing was rather irregular the moment the plane touched down. Delgado was recalling his experience to members of Davao media, yesterday at the ADDU Jacinto campus during a press conference on the boycott of the airline by ADDU president, Fr. Joel E. Tabora S.J. “Usually, it takes about 20 seconds before a plane
comes to a full stop upon landing, but our plane came to a full stop barely five seconds after hitting the ground, causing our heads to bump the back of the seats in front of us,” he said. A student, Gizelle Escobañez, who was with him, saw sparks where the tip of the right wing hit some of the lights on the runway and saw what appeared to be grass, mud and debris just below the right wing. When panic started among the passengers, Delgado said he saw a flight attendant crying and did not seem to know what to do.
